A major security scare has hit West Bengal's Murshidabad district after 150+ crude bombs were found in two days. Police and BSF are conducting a joint search with drones, suspecting links to political violence or cross-border smuggling.
A Calcutta HC-appointed probe has found TMC councillor Mehboob Alam responsible for orchestrating targeted communal violence against Hindus in Murshidabad.
The plea was filed by one Satish Kumar Agarwal, who flagged the failure of state authorities in discharging their duties/responsibilities to protect the life and property of Murshidabad residents.
The victims narrated chilling testimonials of murder, attacks on Hindu temples and homes and the role played by mosques in supervising the violence. They also highlighted the inaction of the local police, and the complicity of TMC councillors in the violence.
"We are writing this from a hidden location, not only fearing the threats of the ruling party but also the police who are continually threatening us," the wife and daughter-in-law of Haragobindo Das said.
