"As the Royal Challengers Bangalore team has a large fan following across the country, holding the felicitation at the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha may attract lakhs of cricket fans, potentially creating security challenges due to a shortage of officers/staff in the Vidhana Soudha security wing," DCP Gowda warned.
As reported earlier, the Bengaluru Police have filed a case against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Karnataka State Cricket Association, and DNA Entertainment over the stampede on Wednesday, June 4, that killed 11 and left 56 injured.
Despite knowing the popularity of RCB in Bengaluru and the significance of the franchise’s first IPL title, the state government grossly underestimated the turnout or perhaps they were not much concerned about the possibility of a stampede-like situation as they were engrossed in encashing the triumphant moment.
A moment of glory turned into a scene of horror—RCB’s first IPL title in 18 years was overshadowed by a deadly stampede during the victory parade, exposing the Congress government’s catastrophic failure in crowd management.
Throughout this season of IPL, RCB fans have become infamous for their terrible behaviour. Whether it was shouting "Vadapav" at Indian captain Rohit Sharma or trolling and abusing Indian legend Gautam Gambhir, or even trolling the youngster from Afghanistan Naveen-ul-Haq
Miller and Tewatia delivered the goods once again in IPL for the team as their 79 runs partnership off just 40 balls delivered another win for Gujarat against RCB.
