A Vadakara woman has been arrested for abetment of suicide after her viral harassment allegation led to the death of U Deepak. Police investigation, including bus CCTV footage, found no evidence of misconduct, citing digital humiliation as the cause of Deepak's distress.
On 16th January, Deepak U, a resident of Kozhikode’s Govindapuram area had taken a KSRTC bus, where Shimjitha Musthafa was also travelling. During the crowded bus journey, Shimjitha Musthafa recorded and shared a video claiming that Deepak inappropriately touched her.
A case has been registered against Aditya under Sections 75(2) and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 67 and 67(A) of the IT Act, and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
A Sessions Court noted that Professor Anand Vishwanath was falsely implicated by four girl students from CPI(M)’s student wing Student Federation of India (SFI), after he caught them doing malpractice during a postgraduate examination.
Two accused teachers have been suspended so far. A committee has also been formed to investigate the matter. Action will be taken against those found guilty based on the committee’s report, university's PR officer reported.
