In a rare but pivotal high-level meeting since the Russia-Ukraine war started in 2022, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met the Russian Foreign Minister in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh. It is interesting to note that even though Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was also in Saudi Arabia, he was not a part of this meeting.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported an attack by Russian forces, involving 103 Shahed drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), launched from multiple locations including Bryansk, Millerovo, and Berdyansk.
Several explosives-laden drones hit residential buildings in Russia's Kazan, setting fire to the buildings. The attack was an eerie reminder of 9/11 attacks in New York when hijacked planes crashed into the twin towers of World Trade Centre.
The statement from the Kremlin added that if missiles provided by the US are fired deep into Russia following Joe Biden's decision, Moscow will view the attack as not from Ukraine, but from the US itself.
Saratov is about 900 kilometers (560 miles) from the Ukrainian border. According to Russia's RIA news agencies, flights at the provincial Saratov airport have been prohibited, citing the airport's press service.
"India has never been neutral in this war; we stand for peace," PM Modi said, underscoring India's ongoing efforts to promote dialogue and diplomacy as a means to resolve the conflict.
