“On May 1, a father approached the police station and filed a complaint stating his minor son was sexually abused by Maulvi (Teacher) in Madrasa. Immediately, we registered an FIR and took up the investigation,”

The officer also said that all the victims are male as this particular Madrasa is for boys and the perpetrator is originally from Bihar, who had migrated to Hyderabad to teach at this Madrasa. The accused, according to the Police, also resided in the Madrasa.

“We got to know that the teacher has sexually abused six minor children in Madrasa. In this Madrasa, male students study and the teacher is from Bihar and was staying in Madrasa and used to teach children.” – The officer explained.

All the victim children have been sent to the health clinic for a medical check-up and the Madrasa teacher has been produced before the court. The Madrasa teacher has been booked under the section 377, 506 of Indian Penal Code and 5, 6 of POSCO ACT.

This is not the first time Madrasas have been in the dock. We had recently reported how a young girl was raped in a Madrasa and the victim and her family were left traumatised when Islamists demanded that the victim be married off to her rapist. In another incident, a Maulvi was arrested for kidnapping and holding a minor girl captive in his Madrasa in Ghaziabad. 67-year-old Maulvi, Zakir Alam was also arrested for sexual assault on an 8-year-old child in a Madrasa at Narela, Delhi. In December, the UP police had raided a Madrasa in Lucknow’s Shahadatganj area, where girls were allegedly held hostage and molested by the Madarsa’s manager. A total of 51 girls were rescued by the police during the raid and the manager was also arrested.

This is yet another outrageous incident in a long line of appalling crimes that have surfaced in the recent past.
