Mayawati extends support to Congress for Madhya Pradesh, may consider Rajasthan ‘to keep BJP out of power’

Mayawati said her party fought the state elections with the sole purpose of defeating the BJP.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati today extended support to Congress in Madhya Pradesh, after the nail-biting finale which showed Congress emerge as the single largest party at 114 seats, 2 seats short of a majority.

Speaking to media, Mayawati said that the BSP had fought these elections to defeat the BJP but unfortunately our party could not achieve it. But we have come to know that the BJP is still putting up a fight to form the government. To stop that, despite not agreeing with the Congress on ideology and leadership, we have decided to extend support to Congress to form the government in Madhya Pradesh so that the BJP does not succeed. If we feel that the Congress needs out support in Rajasthan, then to defeat the BJP, we will extend support to Congress even then.
