Jignesh Mevani mixes up Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations, gets schooled

Mevani even forgot the difference between how the Republic Day (26th January) and the Independence Day (15th August) are celebrated

In his blind hate for PM Modi, former AAP leader and ‘independent’ Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani yesterday forgot the difference between 26th January and 15th August. Taking a dig at PM Modi, Jignesh Mevani yesterday tweeted, “Today the PM will address a rally in Ramlila Maidan. Question is, whether he will keep any heavy dose for 26th January?”

Mevani even forgot the difference between how the Republic Day (26th January) and the Independence Day (15th August) are celebrated. Whether it was his lack of general knowledge or his mind was numbed with Modi hatred that he could not distinguish between the two occasions cannot be ascertained. On the eve of Republic Day, i.e. 26th January, it is the President who delivers an address and not the Prime Minister. On 26th January, too, the President hoists the flag and not the Prime Minister though the Prime Minister with other dignitaries garces the occasion with their presence. The Prime Minister addresses the nation from the Lal Qila on 15th August i.e. on the day when India got independence.

Mevani soon got schooled for his lack of knowledge. Twitterati was more than glad to explain to him the difference between the two.

Meanwhile, some Modi supporters were also challenging Mevani that on the upcoming 15th August, which will fall after the new government at Centre would be formed, too, PM Modi will address the nation.
