District Congress President Anwar Hussain led dozens of Congress workers with the posters which read “Gorakhpur demands Priyanka Gandhi becomes Member of Parliament this time. Rahul Bhaiya, listen to this appeal of the workers.”

Comparing Priyanka Gandhi with Rani Lakshmibai, Hussain added that the way Rani Lakshmibai fought the British and contributed to the fight for India’s independence, today we see Priyanka as Rani Lakshmibai.

Even before Priyanka was officially inducted into the politics, Congress supporters have time and again put up various posters demanding that she plays a bigger role in politics. Prayagraj Congress workers had suggested Priyanka fought the 2014 elections from Phoolpur constituency.
