Tripura Congress chief Pradyot Deb Burman slaps, threatens a man inside police station

"Let BJP go a file FIR against me. If they want to put me in jail, let them put me in jail. I will not even seek a bail,” Pradyot reportedly stated.

In a sheer display of arrogance, Tripura Congress President Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman slaps a man inside Khowai police station in Tripura after he had allegedly obstructed the convoy of Pradyot Kishore’s sister Pragya Deb Burman who is also Tripura Congress candidate, reports ANI.

According to reports, the Tripura police had arrested a man for allegedly attacking the convoy of Pragya Deb Burman, Pradyot’s elder sister. Pragya Dev Burman is being fielded by the Congress from the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. The arrested person is an alleged supporter of the ruling Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT).

In the CCTV footage, Pradyot and his men can be seen entering the police station and resorting to vandalism against a man in a red shirt sitting on a bench in a police station. The man rises to his feet and greets the Congress chief but Pradyot suddenly slaps him across the face. Police officials present at the spot separate them immediately, following which Pradyot Dev Burman can be seen threatening him.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Tripura BJP accused CPI(M) and Congress of joining hands together to plot a conspiracy against the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Tripura Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath has said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) was ‘confused’ by CPI(M) and Congress through a conspiracy and lead them to dismiss Additional Director General of Police Rajiv Singh. Following the incident, the elections were deferred in East Tripura (ST reserved) constituency from April 18 till April 23 on security grounds.

Nath further added that a deep-rooted conspiracy is being hatched by CPI (M) and Congress against the Lok Sabha polls. “Our leaders have already met ECI at New Delhi. We have met the CEO in Tripura. But it seems we have failed to convince the Election Commission about the conspiracy so far. Or else why would they transfer Additional DGP Singh?” Nath said.

BJP has also produced the CCTV footage from Khowai police station incident in which state Congress President Pradyot Kishore Debburman is seen slapping a person in a police station. Minister Ratan Lal Nath also accused Pradyot of taking law in his own hands while stating that the Congress leader has sent out a warning that he would terrorise and attack his political opponents.
