Police complaint lodged against leftist actor Prakash Raj over ‘Ram Leela-Child porn’ comment

A 2018 video where actor Prakash Raj was seen equating Ram Leela with child porn had gone viral recently. As per reports, a group of lawyers in the Supreme Court had lodged a complaint against the actor for hurting religious sentiments.

As per a report in Amar Ujala, five Supreme Court lawyers, namely, Jugal Kishore Gupta, Kuldeep Rai, Varun Mishra, Abhinav Pathak and Ruma Pathak have lodged the complaint against the actor at Delhi’s Tilak Nagar station recently. The lawyers have asked the police to register an FIR and take action against the actor.


Last year, in a News 18 talk show, Prakash Raj was seen equating Ram Leela event with child porn. When the anchor asked him that why is he equating Ram Leela with child porn, Raj had replied that such events instil fear in the minds of the minorities and it is dangerous for the society.

That video clip from the 2018 News18 show had gone viral on social media recently. A lot of people had reacted on the clip and had condemned Raj’s comments deriding a popular cultural and religious event that is celebrated all across Northern India.
