Prime Minister Modi addressed a rally today at Kalburgi, Karnataka where he laid the foundation stone for various projects in the state.

During the address, Narendra Modi attacked the Congress-JD(S) government and remarked that the ‘remote controlled’ Chief Minister of Karnataka had not sent the list of farmers eligible for the benefits under PM-KISAN Yojana to the Centre. He said, “They are blocking the benefits of PM-KISAN to reach the farmers as there are no middlemen in our scheme and money directly reaches the farmers in their bank accounts.”

The NDA government led by PM Narendra Modi had announced the PM-KISAN scheme in the interim Budget 2019-20, under which Rs.6,000 per year will be given in three instalments to 12 crore small and marginal farmers holding cultivable land up to two hectares.
Modi also said that the Karnataka government had made false promises of farm-loan waiver in the state and had betrayed innocent farmers.

Taking a dig at the coalition government, Narendra Modi said that Karnataka has a ‘Majboor’ government. Laying emphasis on the necessity of having a strong government at the Centre, he said, “Sometimes we have to pay a heavy price for a small mistake. The people of Karnataka must be experiencing the same.”
With elections around the corner, campaigning has well and truly begun. The Congress party is facing quite a problem in securing an alliance with JD(S) in the state for the Lok Sabha elections. In the absence of one, the BJP could very well retain its tally from 2014 or even increase it by a couple of seats.
