There is a limit to the arrogance: PM Modi takes on Congress’ entitlement in Rajya Sabha

Prime Minister Modi while replying to the 'Motion of Thanks to the President's Address' in the Rajya Sabha

Prime Minister Modi while replying to the ‘Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address’ in the Rajya Sabha today took on Congress’ entitlement.

PM Modi said that 2019 general election was the people’s election where they brought a government back to power with an even stronger mandate. “Despite such a strong mandate, there are people who say that the country lost the elections. I believe nothing can be more insulting to India’s democracy than such statements. Did India lose in Wayanad? Did India lose in Raebareli? Did India lose in Behrampur and Thiruvananthapuram? And did India lose in Amethi? So if Congress loses then India loses? There has to be a limit to the arrogance,” PM Modi said.

“Despite being in power for 55-60 years the political party could not win a single seat in 17 states. Does that mean the country lost? If you do not have confidence in yourself and lack abilities, you start looking for excuses. And those who do not have the courage to introspect blame the EVM. There was a time even the BJP was reduced to 2 seats in the Lok Sabha. We were also incessantly mocked at. However, the workers had faith and resurrected. We didn’t blame the EVM,” he added.

“My friends in Congress have not been able to digest victory, they have not been able to accept defeat. I do not consider this to be a healthy sign of democracy,” PM Modi said in his Rajya Sabha address.
