Himachal Pradesh: Hindus protest in Chamba over Manohar Lal’s brutal murder, give ultimatum of 30 days to jihadis to leave the state

On Thursday, 23rd June 2023, Hindus in Chamba in Himachal Pradesh held a massive protest over Manohar Lal’s brutal murder. Members of various Hindu organisations came to the streets and staged protests and gave an ultimatum of 30 days to jihadis in the state to leave the place.

Under the banner of Sanghani Massacre Sangharsh Samiti, office-bearers of Bajrang Dal, VHP, Hindu Jagran Manch, Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha, Sippy Kalyan Sabha, Valmiki Sabha, Vyapar Mandal Chamba participated in the rally. They demanded the formation of a fast-track court to hear Manohar Lal’s murder case and demanded capital punishment for the killers. The angry crowd raised slogans against the administration and the police.

There was a scuffle between the Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party chief, workers and the police force over the forceful removal of barricades put up near Chauhra Dam. There was also an argument between the two sides. But, citing Section 144, the police did not allow them to go further. The angry activists raised slogans against the district administration and the police. The activists remained in Chauhara till 5 in the evening, insisting on going to Sanghani.

Kamal Gautam, a Hindu leader who was leading the protest, said that it was a brutal murder and a direct attack on the Hindu community in Himachal Pradesh which is not tolerable. He added, “It was not a normal murder. So we demand the probe in this entire incident from the central agencies, including NIA or any other agency to cover the conspiracy behind the killing of Manohar Lal.”

On June 22, Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party chief Rumit Thakur posted on social media that he would meet the victim’s family by breaking Section 144 because the names of those involved in the murder of Manohar Lal are not yet made public. He reached Tunnuhatti with his workers at around 11:30 am on Thursday. But the police force intercepted their way and did not allow them to go ahead.

In a video of the protests that went viral on social media, a protest leader was seen addressing the crowd. He said, “Today, in this historic protest, I have come here to appeal to all the Hindus in Himachal Pradesh. We give an ultimatum of 30 days to the people with this jihadi mindset who are roaming in Himachal Pradesh. You have a time period of 30 days. You can leave Himachal Pradesh in 30 days. If you don’t, then only you will be responsible for what happens after that. Hindu community will take the drive in its hands.”

According to Deputy Commissioner Apoorva Devgn of Samba, the protesters have submitted a memorandum, which he has received and intends to send to the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. He mentioned that the demonstrators were seeking evidence from the central agencies and clarified that this request would be forwarded to the Governor of Himachal Pradesh for consideration.

On June 6, a Hindu youth Manohar Lal went missing while returning home from his cowshed on the hilltop. He allegedly proceeded to meet his lover, a Muslim girl. The girl’s family allegedly beat him with sticks and then sliced up his body and put it into a drain when he died. While patrolling in the region on June 9, four soldiers from the Indian Reserve Battalion discovered the body. Some media reports suggest that the chopped body was found in a sack after locals noticed it and informed the police.

Hindu organisations learned about the incident and demanded strict action against the accused. A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections has been filed against the accused.

Paris: Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif walks the red carpet after snatching an umbrella from a female officer, leaving her drenched in rain

While PM Modi received 15 standing ovations and 79 applause during his address to joining US Congress as part of his historic US visit, neighbouring Pakistan and its PM are making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Paris in France yesterday to attend the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was seen snatching an umbrella from the hands of a female staff amid a downpour at the Paris Summit. The video was proudly shared by the Pak PMO.

The Pakistan Prime Minister was at the Summit to seek a bailout package from the IMF.

In the now-viral video, it can be seen that after Sharif arrives at the venue, a female protocol officer with an umbrella protects him from rain and starts to walk with him on the red carpet. Sharif attempts to grab the umbrella but retracts his hand. Moments later, he tries for the second time and grabs the umbrella from the staff who is surprised at the action and retrieves her hand hurriedly.

An oblivious Sharif then walks the red carpet alone leaving the woman behind, unbothered that she is completely drenched in the rain. However, she maintains her composure and walks behind the prime minister towards the venue.

The incident has drawn widespread criticism on social media.

The two-day Summit for a New Global Financing Pact is being organised by France in Paris on 22 and 23 June, where over 40 heads of states and governments, over 30 organisations, and hundreds of NGOs and private sector entities are participating. The summit aims to lay the groundwork for a renewed financial system suited to the common challenges of the 21st century, such as fighting inequalities and climate change and protecting biodiversity.

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief on Thursday on the sidelines of the event, in an attempt to secure the release of the remaining $1.1 billion in IMF program funds amid the ongoing economic crisis in the country. Sharif expressed hope that funds allocated under the IMF’s program would be released as soon as possible, however, no comments have been met by IMF yet.

At the summit, the World Bank said that it will ease financing for countries hit by natural disasters.

Meanwhile, on June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Washington DC amid strong winds and rainfall. The Prime Minister completed all necessary protocols even as he was drenched in rain.

PM Modi and President Biden in a joint statement slammed Pakistan for cross-border terrorism, use of terror proxies and called for action against JeM and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.

Ro Khanna, who supported Rahul Gandhi and is part of the Pakistan Caucus, now praises PM Modi, says he delivered a ‘very powerful speech’

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his address to a joint sitting of the US Congress, US House Representative Ro Khanna who has been close to Congress’s Rahul Gandhi and who is also part of the Pakistan Congressional Caucus, showered praises for the Prime Minister saying that the speech delivered by PM Modi was a strong speech.

“I think the Prime Minister gave a very strong speech,” he said also adding that the address was well received by the US Congress. He asserted that PM Modi reaffirmed the US and India’s collaboration in business, technology, and defence, as well as the very significant statement that India respects all world religions.

Other US Congress leaders also praised PM Modi and said that the leader tried to endure friendship and partnership between India and the United State. “It was a wonderful speech. The important part of the speech was the enduring friendship and partnership between India and the United States; it was a good reminder for Congress and American people,” said US Congressmen Greg Stanton.

Also Dan Crenshaw said, “I was just strongly impressed. He gave a great speech…It was uplifting. It was very relevant to the issues and conflicts that the world is currently facing. I think everyone, Republicans, and Democrats could learn from it and could take a lot from it.”

The US Congressmen gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi a standing ovation and loud applause as he wrapped up his speech to the joint session. Michael McCaul, the chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, praised the address and stated, “It was a fantastic speech talking about the unity between US & India.”

“I think more than anything, he talked about the future. It was a very moving speech, it was great to have all the American Indians in that gallery who were so passionate about this man. I am very glad to see that we are now selling weapons to India to help her defend herself from aggressive behaviour from communist China or terrorist organisations,” he added.

PM Modi highlighted India’s unity in diversity during the address

On Thursday, PM Modi highlighted India’s unity in diversity, at the historic address to the joint sitting of the US Congress. “India is the home to all faiths in the world and we celebrate all of them. In India, diversity is a natural way of life, today the world wants to know more and more about India,” said PM Modi.

Further speaking about Indian diversity, he said, “We have over 2500 political parties…About 20 different parties govern various states of India. We have 22 official languages and thousands of dialects, yet we speak in one voice. Every 100 miles our cuisine changes, from dosa to aloo paratha.”

He asserted that the entire world is becoming more and more interested in finding out about India. On Thursday, he arrived in the US House of Representatives, where he gave a speech to the US Congress. PM Modi said that it is always a great honour to address the US Congress. The members at the House could be seen cheering and applauding PM Modi.

“It is an exceptional privilege to do so twice. For this honour, I extend my deepest gratitude to the 1.4 billion people of India. I see that nearly half of you were here in 2016. I can also see the enthusiasm of the old friends and the new friends in the other half,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Standing here seven Junes ago, when Hamilton swept all the awards, I said that the hesitations of history were behind us. Now, when our era is at a crossroads, I am here to speak about our calling for this century,” he added.

Ro Khanna extended support to Rahul Gandhi when he was disqualified

Notably, Ro Khanna is a US politician who had extended support to, Rahul Gandhi. Recently, after Congress scion Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from Lok Sabha following his conviction in a criminal defamation case, Khanna issued a tweet saying, “The expulsion of Rahul Gandhi from parliament is a deep betrayal of Gandhian philosophy and India’s deepest values.”

He also said that his grandfather sacrificed years in jail for democracy. “Narendra Modi, you have the power to reverse this decision for the sake of Indian democracy,” he had said.

Although Khanna is of Indian origin by lineage, he was born in Philadelphia city of Pennsylvania. He has been actively involved in US politics as a Democratic Party leader since 2016. Indians in March this year mocked Khanna for supporting Gandhi and meddling in India’s internal affairs without fully understanding the political context.

Ro Khanna presented a distorted version of Hindutva

Also, in August 2019, Ro Khanna courted controversy for presenting a distorted version of Hindutva to his American followers. He had tweeted, “Important article. It’s the duty of every American politician of Hindu faith to stand for pluralism, reject Hindutva, and speak for equal rights for Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhist & Christians. That is the vision of India my grandfather Amarnath Vidyalankar fought for.”

Ro Khanna joined Congressional Pakistan Caucus in 2019

Further in the year 2019, Ro Khanna joined the Pakistan Congressional Caucus, becoming the first Indian-American to do so. This move had raised eyebrows in the Indian-American community, while he was welcomed by the Pakistanis, including Pakistan’s ambassador to the US. Notably, Ro Khann is also a member of the India Caucus in the Congress and is currently the Vice-Chair of the same. He is set to become the next chair of the Congressional Caucus on India.

In September 2019, around 230 Indian-American organisations in the US wrote a letter to Ro Khanna, urging him to withdraw from the Congressional Pakistan Caucus. “Membership in (the Congressional Pakistan) Caucus is contrary to both American principles and our geostrategic interests in the Indian Subcontinent and the broader South Asian region,” the letter read. It also raised concerns about Ro Khanna’s social media interaction with an anti-Hindu activist, Pieter Friedrich.

“We further urge you to write directly to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and meet with (Pakistan) Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan to address Pakistan’s ongoing use of terrorism to destabilise the region and its rampant and severe human rights violations,” the letter emphasised.

However, Ro Khanna refused to withdraw from the Congressional Pakistan Caucus. “I think it all stems from a naivete that they don’t understand politics. But it is really irrelevant in my district and that’s where my first priority is,” he defended his decision.

“I certainly will never bow my convictions because of a special interest lobby…I have no tolerance for right-wing nationalists who are affiliated with Donald Trump…They are maybe 2 to 3 per cent in an echo chamber in this district…But they will see that our values, our district, is pluralistic.” Khanna had said.

Ahmednagar: Hindu activist murdered, brother’s complaint says he was killed for exposing illegal businesses operated by NCP MLA’s aides

On June 20, a Hindu activist identified as Omkar Bhaganagre was murdered by three persons for raising his voice against illegal businesses being operated in the city of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The victim was murdered by three persons identified as Nandu Borate, Ganesh Hucche, and Sandeep Guda while he was celebrating his friend’s birthday on the Balikashram road in the city.

The incident is said to have happened on the night of June 19. The three arrived at the Balikashram road on their bikes and attacked Bhaganagre with swords. Later they threw the swords and fled from the spot. According to the local reports, the police are said to have taken cognizance of the incident and have filed a case against the accused persons.

The Police have also arrested three other persons named Ravi Namade, Vaibhav Hucche, and Sagar Guda who seemed to have helped the accused in executing the murder. After the initial interrogation, the police revealed that Vaibhav helped in planning the murder while the other accused named Ravi hid the swords in the Bhingar area post-murder. The three arrested were brought to the court on June 22 and have been awarded 5 days of police custody.

NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap involved, alleges victim’s family

OpIndia tried to dig into the case and found that the victim had earlier complained to the police about illegal business being operated by Ganesh Hucche in the district. He also demanded strict action against Hucche and his gang. However, he was murdered by Hucche, Nandu Borate and Sandeep Guda, all of whom are absconding since the day of the murder.

Complaint letter obtained by OpIndia

Further, as per the complaint filed by the brother of the victim, Krushna Bhaganagre, NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap is also said to be involved in the case. As per the complaint, all the illegal businesses operated by accused Ganesh Hucche are owned by the NCP MLA. “He trades in illegal Guthka supply and also illegal liquor supply. My brother, Omkar, and his friend Omkar Gholap had recently lodged a complaint against their illegal businesses. My brother was however murdered after the police took immediate action against those persons,” the complaint read.

Bhaganagre was on target of Jagtap, was also threatened by NCP MLA’s brother

Krushna also stated that the NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap was harassing the victim from the past 5-6 years over a local Ganpati festival community event. He also said that Jagtap had warned Omkar of dire consequences if his demands were not fulfilled. “Sangram Jagtap wanted the control of our Shivshankar Ganpati Mandal and wanted its members, Vishal Bhaganagre and Omkar Bhaganagre to work for him. Later he started harassing Omkar after the duo refused to hand over the Mandal. This continued for 5-6 years. Jagtap and his men also tried to trap Omkar in false police cases just to harass,” Krushna said.

He added that Omkar was also threatened a week before the murder by Vicky Jagtap who is brother of NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap. “Omkar and his friend Omka Gholap were called by Vicky in his Wadia Park office and were issued a ‘final warning’ on behalf of the NCP MLA. Vicky had said to Omkar that he would be dealt with brutally if he does not surrender to the demands of the NCP MLA. Omkar that day came home and told me about the incident. He also said that he would stand by his opinion and that would never surrender to Jagtap,” the complaint read.

BJP’s Vasant Lodha indicates opposition party MLAs influence police action

A day after the murder, local BJP leader Vasant Lodha took cognizance of the event and wrote to Maharashtra Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis seeking strict action against the murderers. He also mentioned that the culprits are close aides of one of the local MLAs who owns and operates illegal businesses in the city.

Lodha in the letter said, “A Hindu activist Omkar Bhaganagare was murdered by Hucche, Borate, and Guda who are close aides of local MLA. The MLA’s men operate illegal businesses, harass Hindu activists, target businessmen for money, and extend support to Muslims who illegally encroach spots in the busy public markets. They also harass Hindu activists by lodging false cases against them.”

Letter written by BJP leader Vasant Lodha

He further added that the Police and the opposition party MLAs work hand-in-hand in the city and that the opposition party MLAs pressure or influence the police to ignore the complaints filed by Hindu leaders or BJP persons. “Please free Ahmednagar (Ahilyadevinagar) from the hold of these people and look into the case for justice,” the letter by Lodha written in Marathi roughly read.

‘Omkar Bhaganagare was a Hindu activist’, confirms Lodha to OpIndia

Team OpIndia contacted to BJP leader Vasant Lodha to learn that Omkar Bhaganagare was a Hindu activist and was the target of the murderers. “Bhaganagre and Hucche had engaged in a scuffle some days ago after the former had complained about the illegal businesses being handled by Hucche. Bhaganagre and Gholap had reached the warehouse of the illegal Gutka trade owned by the NCP MLA. And then after a few days, Bhaganagare was murdered. He was a Hindu activist and was a sharp leader,” he said.

On asking about the arrests in the case, he claimed that the arrested persons actually have very little to do with the case but the police in order to portray swift action took them into custody. According to sources, two of the actual murderers are said to have appeared before the police on June 22 but the same could not be confirmed.

OpIndia tried contacting the Tophkhana Police Station but the authorities refused to provide any information considering the sensitivity of the case. The authorities said that PI Shirsat was authorized to speak on the case but he was unavailable for comment while this case was being reported. The said report will be updated once we hear from the authorities.

FIR lodged, three who helped murderers arrested

At present, local reports suggest that the FIR in the case has been lodged at the Tophkhana Police Station in the district and the police have arrested Ravi Namade, Vaibhav Hucche, and Sagar Guda who are believed to have helped the accused persons in executing the murder. However, Nandu Borate, Ganesh Hucche, and Sandeep Guda who actually committed the crime are still absconding. Further investigations into the case are underway.

As Congress Party celebrates anti-India letter by Pramila Jayapal, she is seen attending PM Modi’s speech at US Congress, giving a standing ovation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic speech at the US Congress was followed by roaring ‘Modi, Modi’ slogans, autographs, selfies, 15 standing ovations, and 79 applauses. Members of the US Congress lined up to meet the Prime Minister.

Among those applauding was US Representative Pramila Jayapal who, along with US Senator Chris Van Hollen had led a bicameral letter urging President Joe Biden to “discuss the need to protect human rights and democratic values in India during his meeting with PM Modi.”

The letter, written on June 20, was signed by 75 members of the US Congress. But was endorsed more by the entire Indian National Congress here.

Ironically, the same anti-India Pramila Jayapal was seen attending the speech and joining the US Congress in giving standing ovations to Prime Minister Modi. Of course, this invoked no response from the Congress party given how it wouldn’t bode well for their hate-spewing narrative.

Anti-India US Representative Pramila Jayapal (Source: ANI)

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate had shared the most venomous excerpts of the propagandist letter which was nothing more than a rant on “religious freedom and intolerance in India”.

The BJP quipped on how Pramila Jayapal’s standing ovation defeated “Rahul’s efforts of lobbying with the West”.

Who is Pramila Jayapal?

Pramila Jayapal is a Democrat US Representative from Washington 7th district. She is known for her anti-India and anti-Hindu bias. In December 2019, she brought a Congressional resolution urging India to end restrictions on communications in Jammu and Kashmir.

She had taken a controversial stand against the Indian Government’s decision to abrogate Article 370. Following her resolution, MEA Jaishankar canceled his meeting in 2019 with a group of United States lawmakers following their refusal to exclude anti-India Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal from the delegation that was scheduled to meet him. “Don’t think her report has a fair understanding of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir or a fair characterization of what the Government of India is doing. I have no interest in meeting her,” EAM Jaishankar said.

How Congress seems to have allied with Islamists and rabid Leftists to sabotage State Visit by an Indian Prime Minister to a friendly nation

On Thursday (June 22), Narendra Modi became the only Indian Prime Minister to address the joint session of the USA Congress twice. He received 15 standing ovations and 79 applauses during his hour-long speech.

The Indian Prime Minister was also greeted with chants of ‘Modi Modi’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram.’ Following his speech, US lawmakers were seen lining up to interact with Narendra Modi.

During this time, he signed autographs and clicked selfies with members of the US Congress. PM Modi also autographed the joint session address booklet, presented to him by US House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy.

The State Visit by the Prime Minister of India has been hugely successful. With the condemnation of Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism by Joe Biden and PM Modi in their joint statement, to an over $3 billion investment and historic, unprecedented deepening of ties by the foray of meetings between PM Modi and thought leaders in the West, India has walked away with massive gains. Of course, the USA is a transactional state and can never be a dependable ally, a fact of which the power corridors are deeply aware, but the diplomatic realm is certainly not made up of absolute and in the grey-coloured world of diplomacy, India walked away with net positive results.

Even before the State Visit took off, however, American liberals and Islamists, along with the open and blatant support by the Indian political class led by Rahul Gandhi, launched a campaign to discredit PM Modi and by extension, India, united by their hunger for power, hate for Hindus and disdain for India.

17 organisations and 75 Senators and Members of Congress wrote 2 letters to President Biden asking him either not to host the State Dinner or to raise some specific issues.

On June 7 (local time), Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC), which has links to Islamic terrorist organisations, announced to have written a letter to the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, to rescind the invitation of State Dinner extended to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Seventeen organisations, including IAMC, signed the letter.

The organisations claimed that India is facing sharp democratic backsliding. The claim was based on April 20, 2023, Financial Times report titled ‘India’s Democratic Backsliding’. In the report, FT claimed the democratic values of India were on backtrack because a Gujarat court denied disqualified Congress MP Rahul Gandhi‘s plea against a 2-year sentence in a defamation case. FT called it bad news not only for India but for the whole world. In the letter, they cited four reports linked to CAA and NRC. They included a fact sheet by United States Commission on International Religious Freedom from February 2020. However, the report clearly mentioned that CAA was only meant for minorities in neighbouring Islamic countries. The report does point out Assam NRC controversies, but assuming NRC, whenever it comes, will have the same regulations and guidelines is far-fetched. OpIndia did a detailed analysis of the baseless claims made by IAMC and other organisations in the letter sent to President Biden that can be checked here.

On June 20, 75 US Senators and Members of Congress wrote a letter to President Biden to take up issues including “shrinking of political space, the rise of religious intolerance, and more.

In the letter, the lawmakers asked Biden to raise “areas of concern” directly with PM Modi in addition to the many areas of shared interests between India and the US. They reminded President Biden of his statement where he said that America Must lead not merely by the example of our power but by the power of our example.”

Apart from a State Department report, they cited unnamed reports claiming to be “independent, credible reports” that reflect “troubling signs in India toward the shrinking of political space, the rise of religious intolerance, the targeting of civil society organizations and journalists, and growing restrictions on press freedoms and internet access.”

They claimed that religious freedom in India is showing worrisome signs as there has been an “increase of religious intolerance toward minorities and religiously motived violence by both private and state actors.” They also cited the dubious Reporters Without Borders ranking on Press Freedom that OpIndia has categorically debunked.

Both letters were publicised by the Congress party in India.

OpIndia did a report where we analysed 16 organisations and 24 lawmakers who undersigned the two letters and the findings were shocking (though not surprising) – the organisations and lawmakers have links with Islamic terror organisations, Khalistanis, anti-India and anti-Hindu elements.

What was far more interesting, is the threads of connect between Congress and the anti-Hindu, anti-India elements which aimed to sabotage the State Visit.

Rahul Gandhi is on a 10-day USA tour, where he spoke at the National Press Club, Stanford University and also, to ‘think tanks’, allegedly discussing relations between India and USA. The Hudson Institute tweeted images of Rahul Gandhi in deep conversation with these “think tanks”. Sunita Vishwanath was seated alongside Rahul Gandhi at this event at Hudson Institute. Sunita Vishwanath is the co-founder of HrHR, which has also signed this letter against Narendra Modi alongside IAMC.

Investigating Info-warfare and Psy-war OSINT Disinfo Lab had conducted an investigation revealing that the ‘Hindus for Human Rights (HfHR)’ had been promoting the misleading narrative of ‘Hindu Vs Hindutva’. The same organisation was also seen endorsing the ‘Dismantling Global Hindutva’ event.

As per Disinfo Lab, HfHR was formed in the year 2019 by two Islamist advocacy groups named Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) and the Organization for Minorities of India (OFMI). Interestingly, the three organisations had formed another outfit called the Alliance for Justice and Accountability (AJA).

As per an article in The Hindu, the Alliance for Justice and Accountability had been at the forefront of leading demonstrations against the visit of PM Modi to Houston on September 22, 2019. According to Disinfo Lab, the co-founder of Hindus for Human Rights, Sunita Vishwanath, also runs an organisation named ‘Women for Afghan Women’, which is funded by the Soros Open Society Foundation. Earlier, OpIndia reported in detail how George Soros had been fuelling a dangerous anti-India narrative through media and ‘civil society.’

HfHR’s founding member Raju also heads EKTA. It is an associate organization of IAMC. The sole purpose was to have Hindus on the panel to project that the Hindus, in general, were against Hindutva. Interestingly, HfHR ran Facebook ads to promote previous USCIRF reports.

Interestingly, Sunita Vishwanath, the co-founder of HfHR, is also closely connected to George Soros and Islamist-linked IAMC. The in-depth analysis of the web can be read here.

Recently, HfHR released a toolkit against PM Modi’s US visit. OpIndia’s detailed report on it can be seen here.

Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC), a radical Islamist group that has alleged links with banned terror organisations such as the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and has a long history of lobbying against India.

The IAMC is a Jamat-e-Islami-backed lobbyist organisation claiming to be a rights advocacy group. In the past, it had reportedly collaborated with and even paid money to various groups in the USA to get India blacklisted by the USCIRF (United States Commission on International Religious Freedom). A detailed report by Disinfo Lab has exposed its links with the terror outfit Jamat-e-Islami.

IAMC founder Shaik Ubaid and member Abdul Malik Mujahid have headed the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), the US front for Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan. According to DisInfo Lab, ICNA has established links with Pakistan-based terror groups like the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Rasheed Ahmed, who heads the IAMC currently, was the former executive director of the Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA). IMANA’s Director of Operations is Zahid Mahmood, an ex-Pak Navy official.

Similar reports covered by OpIndia on HfHR and Hamas-linked Islamist group CAIR can be read here and here.

IAMC has, in fact, come out in support of Rahul Gandhi several times and George Soros, with links to HfHR and by extension, IAMC, had not only dedicated money to combat nationalists including PM Modi but waded into the Adani fiasco, supporting Rahul Gandhi’s premise that Modi will have to be held accountable for a mythical ‘scam’.

The sinister agenda to sabotage the State Visit of an Indian Prime minister became even more apparent when Rahul Gandhi planned his visit right before that of PM Modi. During his visit, along with his alliance with HfHR and IAMC, he maligned India while hailing anti-Hindu and Islamist organisations like the Muslim League, calling them secular. Rahul Gandhi in the US had several speaking engagements where he certainly stirred the pot, probably to the detriment of his own party and political career. His speech revolved around the usual themes – Hindus bad, Muslims god, Congress peaceful, ‘Hindu BJP’ communal, Muslim League secular, Rahul Gandhi victim, Modi bad.

Interestingly, in an article in the Economic Times written by one Seema Sirohi, it was claimed that Rahul Gandhi during his visit made a trip to the White House, which both parties involved – the Biden administration and Rahul Gandhi (Congress) chose to keep under the wraps.

For an opposition leader to visit the White House in ‘secret’, without disclosing it to the government of India and the MEA, is a serious breach of protocol and could potentially undermine India’s interests.

Speculations were rife that Rahul Gandhi, in alliance with the Left and Islamists in the West, was attempting a regime change operation because democratically, Congress had been wiped out at the national level with no sign of revival.

With the deep connections to rabid communists, Islamists and secret visits that have not been disclosed yet, it becomes evident that Congress seemed to have worked in tandem with anti-India and anti-Hindu elements to sabotage a State Visit by the Indian Prime Minister to a friendly nation. Who that Prime Minister is immaterial. In a country that values democracy above all else, ideally, the alliances being formed by Congress should be considered treacherous. Demanding foreign interference, as Rahul Gandhi has several times, along with allying with anti-India elements to undermine democracy in the nation, regardless of which party is in power, is an act of internal aggression against the State that must be considered seriously and deliberated upon by a nation that stands at the cusp of civilisational revival.

New York Times, ABC network falsely claim that PM Modi’s press conference at the White House was his ‘first’ ever in 9 years. Here is the truth

On Thursday (May 22), leftist news outlets such as The New York Times, and ABC News tried to discredit Prime Minister Narendra Modi by falsely claiming that he did not attend any press conference since 2014.

The New York Times made the outrageous claims ahead of PM Modi’s joint press conference with US President Joe Biden at the White House.

In a tweet (archive), it claimed, “If Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi responds to questions along with President Biden at a news conference, it may well be the first time since he was first elected in 2014 to do so.”

The tweet was accompanied by a propaganda piece, written by a ‘journalist’ named Mujib Mashal. He alleged that PM Modi had been evading the media since his time as the Gujarat Chief Minister.

Mashal also gave a clean chit to Islamists by avoiding mention of the Godhra train carnage and making false statements about the 2002 riots, which broke out after the Godhra carnage.

“Under his watch, the state broke into widespread riots in 2002, and Mr Modi was accused of looking away — or even enabling — Hindu mobs who went on deadly rampages in Muslim neighbourhoods,” Mahsal wrote for The New York Times but failed to mention that he was exonerated by the Supreme Court of India.

Similar lies were peddled by ABC News but unlike the NYT, it did so after the conclusion of the joint press conference of PM Modi and President Joe Biden.

‘Journalist’ Mary Bruce falsely claimed, “That is the first time in Prime Minister Modi’s nine-year tenure that he has ever taken a live question like this from a reporter in a press conference.”

What is the Truth

In reality, Prime Minister addressed a similar joint press conference, way back in 2015, when Barack Obama was the President of the United States. The latter was the chief guest during India’s 65th Republic Day parade.

A day prior to that event i.e. January 25, 2015, PM Modi and Barack Obama addressed a joint press conference at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. During that time, the Indian Prime Minister responded to questions asked by the press.

It should also be mentioned that PM Modi has given one-on-one interviews to several news channels during the last 9 years. All journalists have attested to the fact that the Indian Prime Minister did not seek questions in advance.

On Wednesday (June 21), American author Max Abrahms applauded PM Modi for not putting any limitations on the questions that can be posed to him.

“I came away from the Modi meeting truly impressed. We weren’t told in advance any limitations on what could be said. He allowed everyone to tell him or ask him anything. He listened carefully & responded seriously to everyone. He sat among us with so much humility in this circle,” he had tweeted.

While The New York Times and ABC News had been trying to build a false narrative about PM Modi evading the press since 2014, he has been upfront in answering ‘malicious’ questions that have been posed to him.

When a Pakistani-origin journalist tried to rake up the issue of ‘minorities’ in India, PM Modi calmly responded, “…We have proven that democracy can deliver and when I talk about deliver, I mean that there is no space for any discrimination based on caste, creed, religion, or gender. When we talk about democracy, if there are no human values or human rights, then it is not a democracy at all.”

Modi in USA: PM Modi’s momentous US state visit brings jet-engine, semi-conductor, space, and many more crucial deals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden bolstered the Indo-US partnership as the two countries signed major deals in various sectors on Thursday, June 22. These deals will not only strengthen Indo-US ties but will also play a significant role in countering China’s global influence.

In a joint statement, PM Modi and President Biden said that the partnership between the two countries will advance the aspirations of the people for “a bright and prosperous future grounded in respect for human rights, and shared principles of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law.”

Here are the details of the deals that have been agreed upon during PM Modi’s state visit to the United States:

India-US space cooperation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India has decided to sign the Artemis Accords taking forward the Indo-US space cooperation.

NASA and ISRO have agreed to collaborate on a strategic framework for human spaceflight by the end of 2023. NASA will train Indian astronauts at the Johnson Space Centre in Houston, Texas, with the goal of launching a joint mission to the International Space Station in 2024.

“The leaders celebrated the delivery of the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite to ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, India, and looked forward to NISAR’s 2024 launch from India,” according to a joint statement.

President Biden commended India for signing the Artemis Accords, which advance a shared vision of space exploration for the benefit of all humanity.

Artemis Accords

The Artemis Accords ensure that space exploration is done safely, sustainably, and transparently, in complete line with international law. Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States are the original members of the Artemis Accords. With more countries developing a presence in space, whether through research stations, satellites, or rocket launchers, the Artemis Accords provide a set of rules to foster exploration, science, and commercial operation.

Micron to invest $825 million for a semi-conductor facility in India

Alongside space cooperation, the United States and India are joining forces to develop a semiconductor ecosystem that encourages supply chain diversification.

Micron Technology, Inc. has announced plans to invest up to $825 million in Gujrat to develop a new semiconductor manufacturing and testing plant with government help. The total $2.75 billion investment would generate up to 5,000 new direct and 15,000 community job opportunities over the following five years. PM Modi and US President Biden both lauded the decision.

According to a press statement released by Micron Technology, the new facility will enable assembly and test manufacturing for both DRAM and NAND products, in addition, to meeting demand from domestic as well as international markets.

Over the next several years, Micron’s facility in Gujarat will create up to 5,000 new direct Micron jobs and 15,000 community jobs.

Indo-US cooperation in the telecommunication sector, Quantum computing, and Artificial Intelligence

Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden launched two Joint Task Forces on modern telecommunications, focusing on Open RAN and 5G/6G research and development.

According to a joint statement made by the two countries, public-private cooperation between vendors and operators would be led by India’s Bharat 6G Alliance and the United States Next G Alliance.

Another significant advancement is the collaboration in the realm of quantum computing. The two countries have formed a joint Indo-US Quantum Coordination Mechanism to enhance collaboration between industry, academia, and government, with the goal of eventually reaching a complete Quantum Information Science and Technology accord.

PM Modi and President Biden also vowed to advance AI education and workforce efforts, promoting business prospects, and mitigating discrimination and bias through joint and worldwide engagement on trustworthy and responsible AI, including generative AI. The US also supports India’s leadership as Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence.

Indo-US defence partnership deepens as US’s GE Aerospace signs deal with India’s HAL

On Thursday, the US defence giant GE Aerospace announced that it has signed an MoU with India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to manufacture fighter jets for the Indian Airforce. GE Aerospace will be producing its F414 jet engines in India for HAL’s Light Combat Aircraft Mk 2.

With the signing of this MoU, India is set to become the fifth country in the world to produce jet engines, joining the United States, Russia, France, and the United Kingdom. Along with bolstering its military capabilities and expanding defence production, the deal will assist in replacing India’s aging fighter fleet.

In their joint statement on Thursday, PM Modi and President Biden committed their governments to work collaboratively and expeditiously to “support the advancement of this unprecedented co-production and technology transfer proposal.”

Amidst PM Modi’s visit, ‘in-country’ renewable H1B visas for skilled Indians

As part of the people-to-people initiative, the US government announced on Thursday the introduction of ‘in-country’ renewable H-1B visas. The decision is anticipated to make the process of renewing H-1B visas easier for various Indians who are currently working in the United States on H-1B visas. Indian professionals would no longer need to travel abroad to renew their work visas. Notably, the H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to hire foreign workers in specialized vocations requiring theoretical or technical ability.

“The leaders welcomed an announcement by the US Department of State that it would launch a pilot to adjudicate domestic renewals of certain petition-based temporary work visas later this year, including for Indian nationals, with the intent to implement this for an expanded pool of H1B and L visa holders in 2024 and eventually broadening the program to include other eligible categories,” the Modi-Biden joint statement reads.

India to procure MQ9B reaper drones for the Indian armed forces

In major breakthrough for the India-US strategic and defence partnership and a major positive outcome of PM Modi’s visit to the US, India will be buying 31 MQ9B Predator drones from the US-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) via government-to-government and foreign military sales route for roughly US$ 3 billion.

Both Prime Minister Modi and President Biden commended India’s plans to get General Atomics MQ-9B HALE UAVs.  The MQ-9Bs, which will be constructed in India, would improve India’s military forces’ ISR capabilities across domains. According to the joint statement by the two leaders, General Atomics will also develop a Comprehensive Global MRO facility in India as part of this plan to help India’s long-term aims of increasing indigenous defence capabilities.

This comes after the US last year offered Transfer of Technology (ToT) to facilitate India in manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The negations that were ongoing since last year finally materialized on Thursday.

111 years after sinking, Titanic claims 5 more lives: OceanGate’s tourist sub ‘Titan’ implodes, debris found near the wreck of old ship

The HMS Titanic had sunk on April 15, 1912, taking more than 1500 people with it. 111 years later, 4 high-profile passengers and the CEO of the OceanGate company, who was the pilot of the tourist submersible ‘Titan’, died after their sub imploded due to extreme pressure deep in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The US Coast Guard has confirmed that one of their ROVs from the vessel Horizon Arctic located the debris of a tail comb from the OceanGate sub-Titan approximately 1600 feet from the bow wreckage of the Titanic on the seafloor. Other debris was also found scattered in the general area. The debris was confirmed to be from Titan, the lost tourist sub from OceanGate.

Speaking to the media, OceanGate’s co-founder Guillermo Stohnlein said that in the case of any failure, the implosion would have been instantaneous.

It is notable here that the Titanic wreckage sits at a depth of around 3800 meters. As per reports, the implosion at a depth like that causes immediate crushing of the vessel and everything inside it. The pilot and the passengers would have died within a few milliseconds.

CEO of OceanGate was the pilot, the 4 passengers included the billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, a British-Pakistani father-son duo named Shahzada Dawood and Suleiman Dawood, and the popular ‘Mr Titanic’ Paul-Henry Nargeolet. Nargeolet, a French Navy veteran, was part of the first expedition to visit the wreck in 1987, just two years after it was found. He has earned the moniker ‘Mr. Titanic’ as he has reportedly spent more time at the wreck than any other explorer.

The deceased CEO’s wife is a descendant of an old couple who died in the Titanic disaster in 1912

Wendy Rush, the wife of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, is the great-great-grandaughter of Isidor and Ida Straus, an old couple who had perished in the Titanic disaster in 1912. The old couple was depicted in James Cameron’s Oscar-winning movie too.

Isidor and Ida Straus were first-class passengers who had refused to board a lifeboat and had gone down with the ship on that fateful night in 1912.

Titanic tours

Tourists spend thousands of dollars to be taken to the wreckage of the liner, 12,500ft underwater. It is claimed that OceanGate Expeditions charges $250,000 (£195,270) for a place on its eight-day expedition.

It is important to note that submersibles are different from submarines. A submersible needs a mother ship that can launch it and recover it. Contrary to it, a submarine has enough power to leave port and come back to port on its own.

37 years ago, the wreckage of the Titanic was discovered in the Atlantic, around 400 nautical miles from Newfoundland, Canada. A team led by legendary explorer Robert Ballard had found the vessel.

OceanGate sub had ‘quality’ issues

As per reports, OceanGate’s carbon fiber hull was unsuited for dives into such depths. In a video now going viral, CEO Stockton Rush is seen admitting that he knows there are issues, but he is taking the risk anyway.

On Sunday morning, the surface crew of the accompanying tug boat had lost contact with the submersible one hour and 45 minutes after it went down the sea.

OceanGate staff had confirmed that in addition to a very limited oxygen supply, those onboard will also be experiencing frigid temperatures.

As per reports, David Lochridge, former director of marine operations associated with OceanGate, had refused to greenlight the sub, citing that the viewport is only certified to withstand pressure up to the depth of 1300 meters. The wreckage of the Titanic sits at a depth of 3800 meters on the ocean floor.

Lochridge was fired by OceanGate later. Months later, over 3 dozen people from the industry, including deep sea explorers and oceanographers included, had voiced concerns and warned the company of potential ‘catastrophic problems’ with their tours using that sub. Lochridge had also stated that OceanGate was unwilling to have the sub inspected and certified by established agencies.
