Purola Love Jihad: Hindus demand verification of ‘outsiders’ after two Muslim boys were caught abducting a Hindu minor girl. Full details

As many as 40 shops in the hill town of Purola in Uttarkashi, 145 km from Dehradun, remained closed for a second day in a row on Tuesday, a day after a protest was held by locals in response to a reported love jihad case involving two youths from a minority community.

The youths were caught while they attempted to abduct a Hindu minor girl on Friday. Reports claim that the majority of the minority community store owners who travelled from outside Purola likewise are said to have left the city late on Sunday night. However, the police have denied the claims saying that nobody has left the town.

According to the media reports, a minor girl was reported to be abducted by two youths from the Muslim community in the Purola region of Uttarkashi. One of the accused owned a cycle repairing shop and the other one was engaged in making handmade blankets in the main market area. The two trapped a Hindu girl studying in class 9 and abducted her to the Vikasnagar region of the state. One of them belonging to the minority community also promised her marriage.

Massive protests erupted in the city on Monday after the incident was reported and people enraged by the incident are said to have demanded the shutdown of shops owned by specific communities and outsiders in the main market. They also demanded verification of non-local businessmen who run their businesses in rented premises in Purola.

In reference to the love jihad incident that happened on Friday, Virendra Rawat, the local head of the VHP asserted that people from the minority community migrate to Purola as shopkeepers and daily wage earners but engage in their religious propaganda. These individuals quietly brainwash locals, particularly young ladies. There is insufficient police verification of these persons who eye on Hindu community women. While we do not oppose any one belief, this is unacceptable. Before things worsen, police and the administration should act decisively to put an end to such actions, Rawat added.

In the meantime, representatives of the local traders’ organisation, who also participated in the protest on Monday, met with Devanand Sharma, the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Purola. They demanded thorough verification of all the people who are not local and are staying and working in Purola.

“I have directed the local police to carry out a thorough verification drive. We won’t allow anyone to disturb peace and harmony,” said Sharma.

However, V Murugesan, additional director general of police (law & order) has denied reports claiming that members of the minority communities have left the city. “Nobody has left the town as it is not that easy to just leave businesses and homes behind in one night. The situation is completely under control. The accused, who were arrested, were produced before the local court which later sent them to jail,” he said.

The locals have declared that no shops owned or rented by non-local people will be allowed to open until police verification is executed. The police meanwhile have appealed to people to maintain peace and law and order. The police have said that no shopkeepers from the minority community have left the town and that the investigations are underway.

Pakistan’s PIA aircraft seized at Malaysia airport over non-payment of dues worth $4.5 million, second such incident in 2 years

Pakistan, which is facing a dire economic predicament, has faced a humiliating situation as its national carrier’s plane has been seized in Malaysia over non-payment of dues worth $4.5 million. A Boeing 777 operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been impounded at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport, leaving the passengers stranded.

Later the passengers of the flight were accommodated on an alternative aircraft,

Notably, Malaysian officials held back another Boeing 777 plane in 2021 for two weeks due to a similar issue. Later, after receiving a diplomatic guarantee from Pakistan on the payment of the dues, it was released and brought back to Pakistan on January 27, 2021, along with 173 passengers and crew members on board.

The aircraft with the BMH registration number was leased by Malaysia to PIA. According to a PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan, the corporation took possession of the aeroplane after a Malaysian court ordered it to do so at the lessor’s request. He argued that the disputed sum is $1.8 million, not $4.5 million, and it has already been paid. He said that the Pakistan government-owned airline will pursue legal action to get the carrier released.

In addition, PIA alleged that the leasing firm only owns one of the attached engines and that the airline owns the entire aircraft.

In accordance with the spokeswoman, the company’s assertion that warranted the confiscating order was incorrect, and as a result, PIA has hired a Kuala Lumpur-based legal team to represent itself in court.

Furthermore, the PIA representative informed that the passengers of the aforementioned flight have been accommodated on an alternative aircraft and that the contested Boeing 777 would continue to fly as a regular commercial flight from Kuala Lumpur.

Amid significant political unrest, Pakistan is also experiencing a severe economic crisis as a result of a considerable decline in its foreign exchange reserves, which has had an impact on imports and numerous international services. In order to decrease the debt-ridden country’s spending by 15%, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the foreign ministry to trim the number of its missions overseas, as well as their offices, employees and other expenses.

Maharashtra: Muskan Sheikh, Munni, and Shahrukh Sayyad lock and beat Nisha for two days and forcibly try to marry her to an old man, arrested. Read details

On 28th May 2023, the Waluj MIDC police of Waluj Mahanagar in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district in Maharashtra arrested Muskan Sheikh, her mother Munni, and her friend Shahrukh Sayyad for abducting and beating a Hindu married woman Nisha Ingole and trying to forcibly marry her to an old unidentified man. The victim Nisha Ingole lodged the complaint after escaping. Following her complaint, the police have filed an FIR under sections and taken action in this case 323, 34, 343, 366, 504, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the FIR, the complainant Nisha lives with her husband Dinesh Ingole and her mother-in-law Laxmi Devidas Ingole in the Jogeshwari area of the Waluj MIDC near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. On 22nd May 2023, at around 3 in the afternoon, Nisha had a domestic disagreement with her husband over some minor issues. She went to Munni who lived in the neighbourhood and stayed for a night. The next day, at around 9:30 in the morning, as she was leaving back to her home, Munni, her daughter Muskan Sheikh, and Muskan’s friend Shahrukh Sayyad stopped her. Muskan Sheikh forcibly took her to Chittegaon saying that ‘your husband will not take you back in the home now, so you come with us.’

In Chittegaon, the three accused locked the victim woman in a room. They beat her as she demanded to be set free. They threatened to kill her. They later told her that they will marry her to a person named Shyam Narwade who is very rich. It is pertinent to mention that it is not confirmed if someone called Shyam Narwade even exists. The identity of the person who they wanted her to marry is still not proven. They also told her that the named person will take care of her. The victim woman resisted to this saying that she is already married.

After two days, the three accused took the victim woman to a building at the Deolai Square of the Beed-bypass road of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar where they took her to an unidentified old man and told her that she will be married to that man. As the victim was continuously resisting, the three again took her back to Chittegaon, locked her in the same room and brutally beat her.

The next day, when the three accused had gone away, the victim woman somehow escaped the abduction. She then contacted her husband and was thus rescued. The police have filed an FIR and arrested all the accused – Muskan Sheikh, Munni, and Shahrukh Sayyad – and further investigation, in this case, is going on.

What the husband of the victim told OpIndia

OpIndia contacted the family of the victim woman. Her husband Dinesh Ingole said, “We both had a fight on 22nd May in our home over some domestic issues. At that time she went to Munni who lives in the neighbourhood and stayed there as she wanted to wait till both of us calm down. But, Munni, her daughter Muskan, and Muskan’s boyfriend Shahrukh Sayyad did this to her. They locked her up for two days, beat her and tried to forcibly marry her to someone named Shyam Narwade. She somehow escaped and contacted me after two days. We filed a complaint after she came back home.”

Bareilly: Mohammad Alim posed as Kalava wearing Anand to lure a Hindu girl, raped her and tried to convert her, case registered

In the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, a love jihad case has come to the fore wherein a Muslim youth named Mohammad Alim posed as a Hindu named Anand, and wore kalava to lure a Hindu girl. He used to attend the same computer classes as the victim and after catching her in his love trap, the accused raped her, forced her to undergo an abortion, and threatened her. On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, the police are investigating the matter.

In her complaint, the victim, a resident of the Deoranian police station precinct in Bareilly district stated that used to visit a coaching centre to learn computers. Here a Jadopur resident taking computer classes introduced himself to her as one Anand. He used to tie a kalava (sacred thread). The two soon became friends.

Accused Alim posing as Anand promised to marry the victim. On March 13, 2022, the accused took the victim to Radha Swami Temple in Bareilly and filled vermillion in her hair line promising to marry her soon. Following this, the accused took the victim to the house of his friend Taleem where he established a sexual relationship with the victim and took pictures and videos of the same.

Threatening the victim to viral her obscene videos and pictures on social media, the accused took her to Rajrani Hotel located near 100 Futa Road multiple times and raped her. Meanwhile, the victim got pregnant and informed the accused about the same, however, Alim showed no mercy and sexually abused her.

The victim further stated in her complaint that when she went to the accused person’s residence in Jadpur, she learnt that the person she believed to be Anand was actually Mohammad Alim, son of Mohammad Sabir. She added that the family members of Mohammad Alim asked Alim get the victim’s child aborted, convert her to Islam and have a nikah with her. Subsequently, the accused made the victim take abortion pills following which the victim’s health deteriorated and the accused took her to a nursing home where the abortion was done.

The victim also alleged that accused Mohammad Alim threatened to kill the victim and her family members if she dared to tell anyone about his crimes. Following this, the victim reached the Deoranian police station and lodged a complaint against the accused. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against the accused under the relevant section and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Sakshi’s cousin brother says they belong to SC/ST community: Watch

The horrific murder of a 16-year-old girl named Sakshi has sent shockwaves across the country. The minor girl was stabbed multiple times and her head was bludgeoned with a concrete block by Sahil Khan. Now, the cousin brother of the deceased victim, a Shahbad Dairy resident said that they belong to the Dalit community.

“We are a family of around 12-13 members. We are from the Bahujan community belonging to the Gautam sect,” the deceased victim’s cousin said.

What Sakshi's relative said from OpIndia Videos on Vimeo.

When asked about what transpired on the fateful Sunday night, the victim’s relative said, “It was around 9:45 pm when we were informed (about Sakshi’s murder) and then we rushed there. It takes about 10-15 minutes to reach there (the deceased victim’s house).”

On the question regarding the accused Sahil Khan being a Muslim and if Sakshi knew about his real identity, the victim’s relative said that he is not aware of the accused Sahil Khan being a Muslim. Chacha ji (victim’s father Janak Raj) may have been told about this but whatever information we have, we didn’t know anything about this.”

Notably, it has been reported that the victim girl was friends with the accused Mohammed Sahil, and was unaware of his religion. One of Sakshi’s friends talked to the media on Monday to reveal that Sakshi used to think that Sahil belonged to the Hindu religion.

Neetu, one of the friends of the deceased broke her silence in the case and said Sakshi and Sahil had been fighting for some reason for the past many days. Meanwhile, another friend Aarti said that Sakshi knew Sahil as a Hindu boy. It was reported that Delhi Police arrested the accused Sahil from Bulandshahr in UP and Sahil had a Kalava (Hindu religious thread) tied on his hand. Police now have said that the matter will also be investigated from the angle of ‘Love Jihad’.

Interestingly, OpIndia reported that on his Instagram profile, Sahil had uploaded a story saying fearing any God other than Allah is considered a ‘Shirk’. On top of that, Sakshi’s friend has claimed that Sakshi knew Sahil as a Hindu and therefore, the police will also be probing the Love Jihad angle in the case.

Manish Sisodia received kickbacks of Rs 2.2 crore for extending favours in Delhi excise policy: ED in its charge sheet

According to the most recent development in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam, the Enforcement Department has said that the former deputy chief minister and stalwart of the Aam Aadmi Party, Manish Sisodia, pocketed Rs 2.2 crores in the scandal.

In its charge sheet against the imprisoned AAP leader, the ED has charged that he obtained the money through his close associate Dinesh Arora from businessman Amit Arora in order to benefit the latter in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021–22.

The charge sheet mentioned, “The investigation has revealed that Dinesh Arora (a close aide of Sisodia) and Amit Arora (owner of Buddy Retail Pvt Ltd, arrested on November 30 last year) were involved in various illegal activities pertaining to the Delhi excise Policy 2021-22 and its implementation in conspiracy with other players of this scam.”

“Further, in the policy under investigation, Manish Sisodia has participated in conspiracies with other persons other than the South Group. Sisodia has received kickbacks of Rs 2.2 crore from Amit Arora through Dinesh Arora for doing favours in the excise policy 2021-22,” it added.

This is the first time an entity looking into the anomalies in the excise policy has explicitly and quantitatively linked a bribe amount to the deputy CM. The Central Bureau of Investigation is also conducting a parallel investigation into the matter. A Delhi court accepted the charge sheet, which was submitted on May 4, on Tuesday, and summoned the politician on June 1.

Notably, Amit Arora’s statements have been quoted by the anti-money laundering organisation to support their claim.

“This is completely fake. ED chargesheet is complete fiction. ED first implicated (AAP Rajya Sabha member) Sanjay Singh and then withdrew their charges formally in the court. Then they said that Manish ji destroyed 14 phones, which were subsequently found in ED custody. Likewise, this is also a completely false charge,” AAP released a statement rejecting the allegations.

As per the ED charge sheet, Amit Arora’s company utilised cash proceeds to pay Manish Sisodia kickbacks. “He (Amit Arora) has submitted the tally accounts of his companies wherein he had paid this money from cash generated from daily sales operations. It has details about cash not deposited on multiple dates for the purpose of paying Manish Sisodia,” the chargesheet accused.

The first instalment of one crore was paid in the second week of April (2021), as stated by the ED, which referenced Amit Arora’s April 9 statement. The remaining 1.2 crore was paid over the course of the next two to three months from the sales revenues of the same firms.

The charge sheet reported that Amit Arora went to meet Manish Sisodia in March 2021 and requested that a clause be added to the policy stating that no other bidder would receive a NOC (no objection certificate), and as a result, would not take control of his airport enterprise, after learning that the “South Group” was going to enter the Delhi liquor business and was also interested in the airport business, which the former managed.

Amit Arora, along with Dinesh Arora, had met Manish Sisodia at his home to discuss the addition of this element to the excise policy. When they approached him and explained the idea and provision, the latter assured them, “Okay, it will be done. Rest you can talk to Dinesh.” The charge sheet also pointed out that Dinesh Arora informed Amit Arora that he needed to pay 2.5 crore in order to accomplish his work. The revised policy eventually included the provision.

The ED also informed that Dinesh Arora set up a meeting with the founding member of AAP in September 2021 before the start of business under the 2021–22 excise policy, when retailers encountered several difficulties in operating storefronts or vending machines.

The charge sheet highlighted, “In this meeting, Dinesh Arora arrived 15 minutes late, after the (former) Deputy chief minister had already arrived. The meeting was started only after the arrival of Dinesh Arora and Sisodia gestured Dinesh Arora to join and sit right next to him in the meeting. (This fact has been corroborated by other persons also who were present in the meeting).”

“This sent a message across the industry that Dinesh Arora was the person acting on behalf of AAP for the excise matters. Dinesh Arora also used to mention that he was collecting 6% kickbacks on behalf of Sisodia. In addition, he had been boasting about his closeness with Arvind Kejriwal (the CM of Delhi). As per his experience and understanding, Dinesh Arora was hand in gloves with (AAP communications in-charge) Vijay Nair and was handling cash on his instructions for AAP,” it proclaimed.

The 2021–22 excise policy of the Delhi government attempted to revive the city’s struggling liquor industry. It promised swankier storefronts without the iconic metal grilles, eventually offering customers a better shopping experience, and it sought to replace a system for traders based on sales volume with one based on licencing fees. A first for Delhi, the policy also included discounts and offers on the purchase of alcoholic beverages.

However, the proposal was abruptly abandoned when lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena suggested a CBI investigation into purported deviations in the regime. The AAP claims that his predecessor undermined the move with a few last-minute tweaks that led to lower-than-expected income, which eventually led to the policy being prematurely cancelled and replaced with the 2020-21 regime.

Manish Sisodia was apprehended by CBI on February 26 after the agency said that it had found multiple damning pieces of evidence in the case and that the arrest was necessary in order to conduct a fair probe.

He was held by the CBI for seven days before being transferred by the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court to Tihar Jail, where he was arrested by the ED on March 9 following a nine-hour questioning. However, the investigation has been brushed aside by Manish Sisodia and the AAP as politically driven.

As Rahul Gandhi spreads Khalistan propaganda in USA, his speech gets interrupted by SFJ Khalistanis sloganeering against Indira Gandhi

On May 30 (local time) Congress’s disqualified MP Rahul Gandhi made his first appearance of a week-long visit to the United States. During his speech, as Gandhi spread Khalistan propaganda claiming that Sikhs are facing atrocities in India, he was interrupted by none other than Khalistanis raising slogans against Indira Gandhi. All Gandhi could do was push his ‘Nafrat ke bazaar mein mohabbat ki dukaan’ (A shop of love in the market of hate) propaganda.

Slogans raised by Khalistanis

During his speech, as soon as he talked about opening a ‘shop of love’ in the ‘market of hate’, pro-Khalistanis sitting in the back started raising slogans like ‘Nasalkhushi ke vyapari’ (businessman of Genocide) and ‘Khalistan Zindabad’. They also raised slogans for him to go back to India. Calling him a member of India Gandhi’s family they said, ‘Wapas Jao’.

The protestors at the venue also displayed the Khalistan flags they were carrying. A video showing the Khalistani protestors chanting slogans and waving Khalistani flags was released by US-based Khalistani outfit Sikhs for Justice. Claiming responsibility for the disruption, SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun claimed that they will do the same stunt during the upcoming US visit of PM Narendra Modi.

Pannu said in the video, ‘You just watched what we did to these traders of Sikh genocide, Congress, Rahul Gandhi’. He added that wherever Rahul Gandhi goes in America, Khalistani Sikhs will be present there to confront him. He then added, ‘Rahul Gandhi, this is what we did to you, and Modi, you are next on 22nd June at White House’.

It is notable that president Biden will host PM Modi at the White House on 22 June at a state dinner.

After the slogans, he claimed that the thing about the Congress party is that “we have affection towards everybody.” He said, “If someone wants to say something regardless of what they are saying, we are happy to listen to it. We are not going to get angry. We are not going to get aggressive. We will nicely listen to it. In fact, we will be affectionate to them. We will be loving to them because that is our nature.”

Rahul Gandhi spread Khalistani propaganda

After his speech, a member of the Bay Area Muslim community claimed that the Muslims were under threat as new laws were being passed that would put Muslims in jails without doing any crime. Gandhi, in his reply, claimed that the way Muslims were feeling was the same as what other communities including Sikhs, Dalits and other minorities feel in India. He insinuated that Sikhs were facing atrocities in India.

He said, “It [so-called atrocities] is felt most strongly by the Muslim Community because it is done most directly to them. But it is being done to all minorities. I can guarantee you that the same way you are feeling attacked, my Sikh brother, my Christian brothers, the Dalit community and the tribal communities feeling the same thing.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time Gandhi has pushed the Khalistani agenda on an international forum. In March 2023, Gandhi was in the US where he was speaking at the University of Cambridge. He randomly called out a Sikh man from the audience and claimed that Sikhs have been rendered second-class citizens in India by the Narendra Modi government.

Rahul Gandhi claimed, “He (Narendra Modi) is imposing an idea on India that India cannot absorb. India, as I said, is a Union of states. It’s a negotiation and if you try to force one idea on a union, it will react.” Despite being well aware that the global Khalistan movement has been trying to brainwash the Sikh community, he exploited the opportunity at Cambridge University to present a distorted image of India to the world.

Despite being well aware that the global Khalistan movement has been trying to brainwash the Sikh community, he exploited the opportunity at Cambridge University to present a distorted image of India to the world.

Khalistanis claim ‘atrocities’ against them to discredit India

It has been seen on several occasions that Khalistani organisations and pro-Khalistani elements claim that the Government of India indulge in atrocities against them in the country. For example, the banned terrorist organisation Sikhs For Justice has said in almost every video that the Central government in Delhi has indulged in atrocities against Sikhs in India. These elements have used this trope to discredit India and gain sympathy from unaware people at the International forum so that they can propagate their separatist agenda to form Khalistan.

No supportive evidence till now to arrest Brij Bhushan Singh, final report in 15 days: Delhi police

Delhi Police sources on Wednesday said that till now no supportive evidence has been found to arrest the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, in connection with the allegations levelled by wrestlers against him.

According to top sources, Delhi police will be filing its final report on the matter within 15 days. “Within 15 days we will be filing our report in the court. It could be in the form of a charge sheet or final report,” Delhi police sources said. Delhi police sources further said that there is no supportive evidence to prove the wrestlers’ claim.

“The sections of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012) added in FIR has less than seven years’ OF imprisonment, so investigating officer (IO) cannot proceed with arrest as demand by the accused,” they pointed out.

“Neither he is influencing the witness nor he is destroying the evidence,” they added.

Olympic medalist wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik along with Vinesh Phogat, who have accused the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij

Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment and are demanding his arrest, reached Uttarakhand’s Haridwar to immerse their all medals including Olympic medals in the river Ganga on Tuesday evening, as a mark of their protest.

Several ace grapplers including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik have been protesting against the WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh accusing him of sexual harassment and demanding his arrest. They also went on to question the fact that how the women wrestlers had to hide for the entire day.

‘Wrestlers plotting to trap WFI chief for politics,’ alleges uncle of ‘minor’ girl who is claimed to have been sexually harassed by Brij Bhushan Singh

Over the past several days, wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan, accusing him of sexual harassment. The wrestlers have also charged Singh under section 10 of the POCSO Act claiming that he has committed sexual offence against a minor girl.

However, a video of the girl’s relative has come to the fore, which claims to expose the strategy of the wrestlers to trap Singh in false legal cases. In a video that has been shared by UP Tak, the uncle of the girl revealed that the protesting wrestlers have been making a strategy to trap the Wrestling Federation of India chief in the false legal case.

“Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Mallik and Bajrang Punia have together built this strategy and we had no slight idea about it. If I would have known this earlier, I would not have spared them. If you have problems, speak only about them. Don’t involve us. These people took around three months to built the strategy. Don’t misuse the law. Why are you playing with someone’s life? We have families. Leave us out out of this,” the relative of the girl said. The wrestlers in the complaint against Singh have mentioned that the girl was minor when she was sexually abused and have charged Singh under POCSO Act.

The girl’s uncle added that the wrestlers have influenced the girl, who is 20 now. “The case says the incident happened when she was 16. We would have known then. They want to target Singh anyhow they can. They are trying to do politics by filing false case against Singh,” he added.

The relative also added saying that the case wrongly shows that the girl is dead. “Why are these people playing with lives of people. The girl is alive. How could they say that the girl is dead when she’s alive? How could they show her age as 16 when she’s 20? How could they speak this massive lie?” the uncle pondered.

To note, after numerous unsuccessful attempts by wrestlers to file a complaint against Brij Bhushan Singh, the Delhi Police filed two complaints against Singh. The first complaint was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and involved allegations of sexual harassment made by a minor wrestler. The second complaint concerned outraging modesty.

The sections included in the FIRs are section 354 (Assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (Sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment), 354D (stalking) of the IPC and section 10 (Punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the POCSO Act. There is a persistent call for Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s arrest due to the fact that three of the violations are “serious” ones that cannot be expunged with bail.

Earlier, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh had denied the allegations and had said that the law is being misused against him.

Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, as well as Vinesh Phogat and other prominent wrestlers, are protesting against Brij Bhushan Singh, a BJP MP from Kaiserganj, for allegedly engaging in long-term sexual harassment of female wrestlers. These wrestlershave been protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi since April 23, demanding the arrest of the WFI president.

The wrestlers recently also launched a protest at the Jantar Mantar and were detained by the Delhi Police while they violated the law. The protesters walked towards the new parliament building on Sunday and demanded strict action agains the BJP leader. “Yesterday, protesters violated the law despite all requests made to them. That is why, the ongoing sit-in protest has been made to conclude. If the wrestlers give an application for sit-in protest again in future, they will be permitted for the same at a suitable place other than Jantar Mantar,” said Delhi Police.

FIR has been filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 147, 149, 186, 188, 332, 353, Section 3 of the PDPP Act, Delhi Police added.

It is to be noted that several derogatory slogans have been raised in the midst of the wrestlers protests which has been ongoing for months now. It was reported that slogans like ‘Modi Teri Kabar Khudegi’ and also anti-India ‘Azadi’ slogans were raised during the protests.

It is notable that similar slogans were raised by protestors in many protests in the past. Anti-CAA protests, Shaheen Bagh protests, farmers’ protests, and various other protests in JNU are known for these Azadi slogans. Now, these sloganeers have also joined the wrestlers’ protests.

‘This India is different from what it was in 2013’: Morgan Stanley lists 10 big changes in India in the last 10 years

In a short span of 10 years, India has gained positions in the world order with significant positive consequences for the macro and market outlook, Morgan Stanley Research has said in a report.

The report, India Equity Strategy and Economics: How India Has Transformed in Less than a Decade, highlights the 10 big changes, mostly because of India’s policy choices, and their implications for its economy and market. “This India is different from what it was in 2013. In a short span of 10 years, India has gained positions in the world order with significant positive consequences for the macro and market outlook. We present a snapshot of these changes and their implications,” the report said.

It added, “We run into significant skepticism about India, particularly with overseas investors, who say that India has not delivered its potential (despite its being the second-fastest-growing economy and among the top-performing stock markets over the past 25 years) and that equity valuations are too rich.” It added, “However, such a view ignores the significant changes that have taken place in India, especially since 2014.”

Morgan Stanley’s Research had taken these 10 big changes namely, supply-side policy reforms, formalisation of the economy, Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, digitalizing social transfers, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, flexible inflation targeting, focus on FDI, India’s 401(k) moment, government support for corporate profits and MNC sentiment at multiyear high, while filing the report.

While drawing the data for supply-side policy reforms, the research has gathered the figures related to India’s corporate tax at par with peers and infrastructure.

In 10 years, India’s base corporate tax rate has stayed below 25 per cent while for new companies with operations commencing before March 24, it has stayed at 15 per cent.

In terms of infrastructure development, the research has taken factors like national highways, broadband subscriber base, renewable energy and railway route electrified.

In the formalisation of the economy, Morgan Stanley had taken GST collections, which were showing upward trends over the years, and digital transactions which grew 76 per cent of the GDP.

On May 18, Morgan Stanley said India is poised to grow at 6.2 per cent in the current financial year 2023-24 with improving macro stability indicating that the monetary policy will not have to turn restrictive.

In a report titled “Asia Economics: The Viewpoint: Addressing the Pushback to Our Constructive View”, authored by Chetan Ahya, Derrick Y Kam, Qiusha Peng, and Jonathan Cheung, Morgan Stanley said India enjoys tailwinds — both cyclical and structurally.

“We see healthy balance sheets sustaining the robust trends in domestic demand. Improving macro stability means the monetary policy will not have to turn restrictive, allowing the economic expansion to continue,” the report said.
