Violation of protocol norms: Lok Sabha privileges committee summons senior officials from Jharkhand over cases against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey

In a major development, on 10th January the Lok Sabha privileges committee summoned senior officers including the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary of Jharkhand and senior police officials for cases against Dr Nishikant Dubey, the Bharatiya Janta Party MP in the lower house from Godda constituency. It was issued after Dubey submitted a request in connection to ‘breach of privilege’ and ‘violation of protocol norms’ on 8th January.

The parliamentarian posted about the same on social media and wrote, “The Jharkhand government is unnecessarily implicating me in false cases and not allowing me to work as an MP. So far, 42 cases have been registered against me in the last 4 years. The privileges committee of the Lok Sabha asked the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, the DGP, the Home Secretary, the Deoghar District Deputy Commissioner and the Deoghar Superintendent of Police to appear before it on 12th January.” The officials have been asked to appear along with him. Notably, he has been called to provide information regarding the matter on the same day.

Dubey posted two letters issued by the Lok Sabha Privileges and Ethics Committee, to administrative officials and the other to police officials.

The first letter has been issued to Jharkhand Chief Secretary L Khiangte, Home Secretary Shri Avinash Kumar, Jharkhand and Deoghar district’s Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sagar. The letter states, “Notice of question of serious breach of privilege/violation of protocol norms dated 8 January 2024 given by Dr. Nishikant Dubey MP against senior officers of Jharkhand for committing unprecedented ‘breach of privilege and violation of protocol norms’ and blatant misuse of official position by officials of Jharkhand Administration.”

It states, “The undersigned is directed to state that the Committee of Privileges has directed that Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, DGP, Jharkhand, and Shri Ajit Peter Dungdung, Superintendent of Police, Deoghar, Jharkhand be asked to appear before the Committee for oral evidence on the above subject matter on Friday, 12 January, 2024 at 1600 hours in Committee Room ‘2’, Parliament House Annexe Extension, New Delhi.” The summoned officials have been asked to send the confirmations by 11 January.

The second letter has been issued to Jharkhand DGP Ajay Kumar Singh and Deoghar district SP Ajit Peter Dungdung for the same reasons. The letter reads, “Notice of question of serious breach of privilege/violation of protocol norms dated 8 January 2024 given by Dr Nishikant Dubey MP against senior police officers of Jharkhand for committing unprecedented ‘breach of privilege’ and ‘violation of protocol norms’ and blatant misuse of official position by officials of Jharkhand Administration.”IT

It added, “The undersigned is directed to state that the Committee of Privileges has directed that Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, DGP, Jharkhand, and Shri Ajit Peter Dungdung, Superintendent of Police, Deoghar, Jharkhand be asked to appear before the Committee for oral evidence on the above subject matter on Friday, 12 January 2024 at 1600 hours in Committee Room ‘2’, Parliament House Annexe Extension, New Delhi.”

It further directed, “The Ministry of Home Affairs are accordingly, requested to ensure that the officials referred to above, appear before the Committee of Privileges, Lok Sabha on the date and time indicated above. Necessary confirmation, in this regard, may please be sent to this Secretariat latest by 11 January 2024.” The official notification was undersigned by Sanjeev Kumar Jindal who is the Joint Secretary CS (Centre-State division).

The summons were issued after MP Nishikant Dubey wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on 8 January, accusing senior officials of Jharkhand including the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP and the district SP of breach of privilege and protocol norms. He alleged everyone in the state was misusing their positions to target him.

Attack on Mahesh Panchal

Mahesh Panchal, brother of the Hindu activist Bittu Bajrangi, passed away on Monday, January 8, in AIIMS Delhi. He had been battling for his life for over a month after assailants poured thinner on him in Dabua Colony of Faridabad, Haryana and set him on fire. The incident happened on December 13th last year. 

Within hours, Mahesh Panchal was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. He had sustained severe burn injuries which were estimated to be around 60%.

Leftist media and Mohammed Zubair peddle lies claiming Panchal faked his attack

According to media sources, the attackers initially confirmed Bittu Bajrangi’s brother Mahesh Panchal’s identification. ‘Are you Bittu Bajrangi’s brother?’ they asked Mahesh Panchal. When Mahesh answered yes to this inquiry, they poured thinner on him and lit him on fire. Mahesh dived into a drain right away to douse the fire and walked to his house since no one came to help him. When Mahesh eventually arrived home, Bittu Bajrangi took him to the hospital.

While Mahesh Panchal was battling for his life with 60 per cent burns on his body, the leftist media houses and the usual suspects, including Alt News cofounder Mohammed Zubair, resorted to peddling lies and raising aspersions on the veracity of the attack on Bajrangi’s brother.

A week after the assault, the Hindustan Times published an article where it claimed that Mahesh Panchal had faked the assault on himself. The article authored by Leena Dhankhar was titled: “Cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi’s brother faked assault: Police” quoted the Faridabad police as saying that he had suffered burns after allegedly falling into a bonfire and that there was no proof to suggest that his injuries were sustained in a murder attempt.

Fact-checking’ website Alt News’ out on bail co-founder Mohammed Zubair had jumped at the opportunity. As soon as the HT report was out claiming that Bittu Bajrangi’s brother faked the assault, Zubair shared the information widely on social media and propagated it as truth. 

Zubair published multiple posts on social media against Bittu Bajrangi and his brother since the fake news was published by the Hindustan Times. In a post on X, he wrote, “Cow vigilante #BittuBajrangi’s brother faked assault: Police.” He shared the link to the HT report in the post. However, the “fact checker” did not care to confirm if Faridabad Police gave any such statement or not.

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar on Wednesday rejected the disqualification cross-petitions filed by rival Shiv Sena groups in a crucial verdict and noted that the Shinde faction was real Shiv Sena following the June 2022 split in the party.

“All the petitions seeking disqualifications are rejected and no one is disqualified from any faction of Shiv Sena,” the Speaker said as he read in the state assembly a lengthy verdict that went into on Shiv Sena constitution and changes made to it. He said “decision of Paksha Pramukh cannot be taken as the decision of the political party” and “Shinde faction was real Shiv Sena when rival factions emerged” in June 2022.

“In my view, the 2018 leadership structure (submitted with ECI) was not as per the Shiv Sena Constitution. Shiv Sena party chief as per the party Constitution cannot remove anyone from the party…Uddhav Thackeray removed Eknath Shinde or any party leader from the party as per the party Constitution. So the removal of Eknath Shinde by Uddhav Thackeray in June 2022 is not accepted based on the Shiv Sena Constitution,” the Speaker said.

“Also, the will of the members of the leadership structure of 2018 cannot be the will of the political party, as there are contradictory views and claims about the majority in the leadership structure by both factions,” he added.

The Speaker said that given the evidence and records before him, prima facie indicates that no elections were held in the year 2013, as well as in the year 2018.

“However, I as the speaker exercising jurisdiction under the 10th schedule have limited jurisdiction and cannot go beyond the record of the ECI as available on the website and hence I have not considered this aspect while determining the relevant leadership structure.

“Thus, given the above conclusions, I find that the leadership structure of Shiv Sena reflected in the letter dated February 27, 2018, available on the website of the ECI is the relevant leadership structure that has to be taken into account to determine which faction is the real political party,” he said.

The Maharashtra Assembly speaker further said that both factions have submitted different versions of the constitution.

“Then, in that case, what has to be taken into account is the constitution, which was submitted to the ECI with the consent of both parties before the rival factions emerged. Before recording further conclusions, it is imperative to reiterate that under the initiation of this disqualification, the Maharashtra Legislative Secretariat had a letter dated June 7, 2023, requesting the Office of ECI to provide a copy of the party constitution, memorandum, and rules.”

He said the constitution of Shiv Sena provided by ECI is the relevant constitution of Shiv Sena for the determination of which faction is the real political party.

“Shiv Sena had not submitted any constitution with the speaker of the house as per rule 3 of the legislature rules of 1986. As per the rule, the constitution of the party should have submitted the constitution with the speaker within 30 days of the amendments made to the constitution by the president of the party,” he said.

“The 2018 amended constitution of Shiv Sena cannot be considered as valid as it’s not in the records of the Election Commission of India. As per Supreme Court orders, I cannot delve into any other factor on which the Constitution is valid. As per records, I am relying on the 1999 constitution of Shiv Sena as the valid constitution. The 2018 leadership structure was not in conformity with the constitution of the Shiv Sena (of 1999 which is relied upon). This leadership structure cannot be taken as the yardstick to determine which faction is a real Shiv Sena political party,” he added.

The Supreme Court had last month asked the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar to deliver his judgment on disqualification petitions filed by Shiv Sena factions of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray by January 10.

As the 22nd of January approaches, the holy city of Ayodhya prepares for the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of Shri Ram Mandir. The construction of Shri Ram’s holy abode is in full swing, and preparations for God’s grand arrival are well underway. The grand temple of Shri Ram being built after countless sacrifices from the Mughal to the Mulayam eras is expected to be concluded by December 2025.

The OpIndia team visited the under-construction Ram temple and the nearby areas. We found that Yagyashala and Vedashala are also being developed within the under-construction temple. In addition, billionaire businessmen and senior officials were seen volunteering here.

Construction work going on 24×7

OpIndia’s ground report noted that the staffers are working around the clock to construct the temple from the sanctum sanctorum to the boundaries. The whirring sound of large modern machines equipped with advanced technology is always audible. The workers turn through several shifts. These workers have come from all over the country.

We also spoke to the volunteers working there. They asserted that they were blessed for having been selected for the holy task of building the temple of Lord Ram. The employees reported that adequate arrangements had been made for their lodging and meals.

Billionaires doing ‘shramdaan’ as volunteers at Ram Mandir

During this time, OpIndia found that many prestigious families, big industrialists, big personalities from various fields, and top officials from private companies are also volunteering there. Many of these volunteers arrived in Ayodhya in luxury cars such as Jaguars and BMWs and stayed in five-star hotels.

Off camera, these people said that other members of their family would also do Shramdaan here as volunteers. They further declared that he would donate the wages received from Shramdaan to the Shri Ram Temple and that he would take the receipt with them as Prasad.

Women CRPF personnel are guarding the Ram Mandir

The holy abode of Lord Ram is being constructed under strict security with the first phase beginning with Uttar Pradesh Police. Following that, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) ensures security around the sanctum sanctorum through PAC and SSF personnel. Currently, CRPF Battalion 233 is stationed here.

The women’s battalion of the CRPF is in charge of the security of the central location inside the temple premises. Women commandos can be seen standing guard with automatic weapons. Alongside the women guards, UP Police security personnel have been deployed to assist them.

The Yogi government additionally formed units of the UP Police’s Special Task Force (STF) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Ayodhya to ensure the security of the Ram temple. In civil dress, the highly trained police officers in these units patrol not only the temple grounds but also surrounding areas as well.

Ved Pathshalas, Gaushalas, museum, and much more in the Temple compound

Many other important places are being built in the complex, in addition to the idol of Lord Ram in the sanctum sanctorum of the under-construction temple. Yagyashala for Havan and puja, Veda Pathshala for students, and Gaushala for cow protection are among these sites. A ritual pavilion, satsang bhawan, museum, and a 360-degree theatre are also being constructed on its premises.

Visitors will be able to learn more about Lord Ram and his life history by visiting the library, museum, and theatre. Separate buildings are being built for the benefit of Sant Niwas and pilgrims. Furthermore, there will be a guest house here. A library and research centre will also be set up near these buildings.

In addition, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s office and administrative building will be part of the temple complex. In one corner, there will also be restrooms and other amenities. Many security checkpoints will be set up throughout the temple complex, with deployed security personnel keeping an eye on every nook and cranny. Men and women will be among the security personnel. A firefighting team will also be present on the temple grounds.

Impregnable security at Ram Mandir

The temple complex has been divided into five zones for security reasons. Isolation, red, yellow, blue, and green zones are their names. In each zone, adequate security forces will be deployed. These security forces will be an amalgam of state and centre. Armed security personnel will also be stationed on steamers and boats near the temple’s riverfront. All sensitive areas are being monitored with modern security equipment.

CCTV will be used to monitor the entire area surrounding the temple. The number of vehicles coming and going will be scanned continuously. The whole area will be designated an arm-free zone, except for security forces. This means that, aside from the security forces stationed here, no one will be permitted to bring any weapons.

Remnants found during the excavations still present on temple premises

Along with external extremist attacks, Lord Ram’s Janmbhoomi had to be under court orders for many years. On the orders of the court, the temple complex was excavated several times. The evidence found during this excavation was crucial in the decision to grant Ram Janmabhoomi to Hindus.

The evidence found during the temple including the remnants of a North Indian-style temple beneath the disputed site exposed the false claims of those fighting for masjid. Many of the remnants found during the excavation remain preserved at the temple, where the devotees are having the darshan of Lord Ram at a temporary site.

Shivling and other artefacts found during the excavations

The foremost attraction is the Shivaling, which is about 5 feet long and is kept in a steel enclosure within the temple grounds under tight security. A special arrangement has been made to offer Jal on this Shivling.

Moreover, beautiful designs depicting the Hindu art be seen succinctly on the pillars found during the excavation. Some idols, which are considered to be representations of gods and goddesses, have also been kept there. These artefacts demonstrate that Hindu civilization was remarkably advanced in ancient times.

Delhi shocker: Armaan, Shaid and three others arrested for murdering a man over Rs 2,000; had stabbed the victim over 25 times

The Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested Armaan Kurru, Shaid Bondi, and three minors for the murder of a 22-year-old man, a resident of Gautampuri over non-payment of borrowed amount of Rs 2,000.

In the early morning on Wednesday, a spine-chilling event unfolded when the group of at least 5 men, including three minors, mercilessly stabbed the 22-year-old man, identified as Gaurav, and dragged his body along the road in Gautampuri near Badarpur.

A police patrol motorcycle saw the crime unravelling and caught the accused after a chase. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras nearby.

As per a report, the murder was in connection with a monetary dispute that the accused had with the victim, Gautam. In the police interrogation, the accused stated that Gautam had borrowed Rs 2,000 from him a few weeks back and was not returning the money despite persistent demands.

The CCTV footage released by the police shows three men running into a service lane adjacent to the main road. A police bike is seen at the carriageway, with the pillion rider wearing a black jacket getting down from a moving bike and running towards the suspects.

While two suspects quickly dart into a nearby lane, the third one returns from the lane he was coming watching the policemen closing in.

The Badarpur police station received information from a head constable around 2 am on Wednesday, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Rajesh Deo, adding that the police officers on patrol informed them that they had noticed three to four people dragging a badly injured and unconscious man.

Upon noticing the patrolling policemen, the suspects abandoned the injured man and fled towards BIW Colony, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) campus. One of the officers pursued them, while the other promptly raised an alarm, alerting colleagues in the vicinity.

The station house officer (SHO) of Badarpur, accompanied by police personnel, swiftly arrived at the scene and joined the pursuit. They successfully apprehended three suspects near NTPC Gate-1, according to Deo.

The three individuals were identified as 16 and 17-year-old juveniles and 18-year-old Armaan Kurru. Upon interrogation, the trio revealed their involvement in a monetary dispute with Gaurav, leading to a personal vendetta. Gaurav succumbed to multiple stab wounds inflicted during the altercation. The suspects, in the process of dragging the body away, were intercepted by the patrolling team.

Later in the day, the remaining two suspects were captured. One of them was identified as a minor, while the other, 18-year-old Shaid Bondi, was taken into custody. All five individuals, residents of Gautampuri, were acquainted with Gaurav, according to the police.

Sikh youth Raghuveer Singh writes Lord Ram’s name 21 thousand times on a small postcard, to send it to Ayodhya for Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony

On 22nd January, Lord Ram will be enthroned in the recently constructed grand Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The devotees are making their best effort to serve their beloved God. Now, Raghuveer Singh, a Sikh young man from Agra is preparing to send a postcard bearing the deity’s name 21,000 times, reported Jagran. Notably, he submitted a single postcard with Lord Ram’s name written on it 31,480 times to the Guinness Book of World Records sixteen years ago.

Raghuveer Singh revealed that he witnessed the worshippers of Lord Hanuman scribbling Lord Ram’s name on paper in the Kaila Devi temple in Firozabad in 2007 after which he felt a strong desire to do something different. He then proceeded to inscribe “Waheguru” twenty-one thousand times on a postcard. Afterwards, he wrote Lord Ram’s name more than thirty thousand times.

Raghuveer Singh who was born in Firozabad, presently resides in Agra’s Maharishi Puram. He works as an area manager for a pharmaceutical company. He decided to send the postcards featuring the name of the Lord five months ago as a gift for the consecration ceremony of the temple. He then instituted a daily routine to sit in one place for an hour every day and note the name on a postcard. He puts the name around seventy times in one line and it is written in such a precise and close manner that the name is only visible at very close range. However, it can easily be read with the help of a lens.

He has to sharpen the pencil’s tip after writing the name every five times. He penned Lord Ram’s name on a postcard for the first time sixteen years ago and now owing to his devotion he is doing it for the second time on the inauguration event of the temple. He remarked that he would complete it by 20th January and then send the postcard to the Ram Mandir.

Interestingly, Raghuveer Singh has donated blood 86 times. He has been doing the noble work for the last 19 years. Furthermore, he formed a life-saving group to help people donate blood which is joined by individuals from all over the country. They are also referred to as “Jeevan Rakshak” (life saviours) by the people due to this reason.

The dream of establishing the temple of Bhagwan Shri Rama, which devotees had envisioned, is now on the verge of becoming a reality after a long struggle of 500 years and devotees of Bhagwan Shri Ram from around the world are gearing up to celebrate the occasion in their own unique ways on this occasion.

The Ram Mandir inauguration and Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha on 22nd January is set to be the global event of the century. From Ayodhya to New York to Paris, grand celebrations have been planned across cities in the US, France and Canada. The event has already captured the attention of the entire world.

The event in Ayodhya will be witnessed by many from Times Square in America to the Eiffel Tower in Europe. In the capital city of France, Paris, a grand Ram Rath Yatra is scheduled for 21st January attracting participants from across Europe. Avinash Mishra, who resides in Paris, shared details about the Ram Rath Yatra on social media. He wrote, “Residing in France, we Indians in Paris will participate in the grand celebration of the Ram Rath Yatra and festivities on a large scale at the Eiffel Tower, marking the historic and significant occasion of the consecration of the Lord Ram Temple in Ayodhya.”

Avinash has also shared the map tracing the route of the Ram Rath Yatra in his post and has extended an invitation to Ram devotees residing in Paris to join this event. The post has been retweeted by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, stating that becoming witnesses to the consecration of Bhagwan Shri Ram at the birthplace in Ayodhya is a blessing for all devotees.

The Hindu Mandir Empowerment Council has decided to organize worship and festivals in temples from North America to Canada. In the past few weeks, car rallies in celebration of the Ram Temple have been held in Washington, Chicago, and other American cities.

Organizers now plan to hold a car rally in California. They expressed their inability to visit Ayodhya physically, but emphasize that Bhagwan Shri Rama resides in their hearts, and their unwavering faith is their way of welcoming Him back home.

Furthermore, on 22nd January, the consecration ceremony will be telecast live at Times Square in New York City. Before this, on 5th August, 2020, during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ram Temple, a digital billboard featuring the Ram Mandir was displayed at Times Square.

Regarding the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Mayor Eric Adams of New York City mentioned that this event is of great significance when observing the Hindu community in New York City. He said that he sees it as an important opportunity for them to celebrate and elevate their spirituality.

Various events taking place in 160 countries

Vishwa Hindu Parishad has outlined plans for events in several countries. Grand programmes will be organized in over 50 countries worldwide. The consecration ceremony will be live-streamed from these locations.

Apart from 300 locations in America, there are plans to live-stream from 25 locaions in the United Kingdom, 30 in Australia, 30 in Canada, and 100 in Mauritius, among others. Besides, in more than 50 countries, including Ireland, Fiji, Indonesia, and Germany, there will be a large-scale live broadcast of the consecration ceremony of Bhagwan Shri Ram.

Representatives from 50 countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, and Fiji, have been invited to Ayodhya for the occasion of Bhagwan Shri Ram’s consecration. Meanwhile, live streaming is also planned in Muslim-majority countries like Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

According to the VHP, there are 160 countries worldwide where people follow the Hindu faith, and various programmes are being conducted in these countries. Preparations are being made for live streaming of the procession, havan puja, Hanuman Chalisa recitation and Pran Pratishtha programme in the temple.

On Wednesday (10th January), the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) summoned Mira Chatt, YouTube’s Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy in India regarding certain videos portraying minors indecently. NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo has asked Chatt to appear before the Commission in person on 15th January.

The NCPCR chief has stated that the organisation has observed an alarming trend of various challenges on YouTube portraying potentially indecent acts involving mothers and sons. “This raises serious concerns about the potential harm it could inflict on the child’s well-being and safety. These videos further are seen by minors which also raises significant concerns,” the letter by NCPCR read.

Kanoongo has asked Chatt to get a list of all indecent challenges being run on YouTube “portraying potentially indecent acts involving mothers and sons” and a list of channels on YouTube that further such challenges involving minors.

According to the reports, NCPCR has been monitoring the content on YouTube after a derogatory video of a mother and minor son was uploaded on the platform. The video soon gained attention and it went viral on other social media platforms.

NCPCR believes that such content on YouTube is hazardous for the overall growth of minors and that this type of content should be monitored and dealt with seriously by the concerned authorities.

NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo has asked Chatt to appear before the Commission in person on 15th January.

Ahead of the Ram Mandir inauguration and Pran Pratishtha, the redeveloped gates of Dashrath Mahal will greet the devotees of Ram Lalla. Dashrath Mahal (Dashrath Palace) is where Bhagwan Shri Ram spent his childhood in the Treta Yuga. While Ram Lalla will be enshrined in the Ram Mandir on 22nd January, the Dashrath Mahal will take devotees back in time showcasing Shri Ram’s Baal Roop (childhood form), the echoes and traces of his footsteps in the royal palace.

The same Dashrath Mahal which witnessed the incarnation of Bhagwan Shri Ram in the Treta Yuga is now about to witness the auspicious moment of his return in the Kali Yuga. This is the very Dashrath Mahal that, even during the 500 years of decline, continued to provide evidence of the existence of Bhagwan Shri Ram’s temple on the present Ram Janmabhoomi area.

Work on entrance gate and Satsang Bhavan will be finished before 22nd January. The work on the night shelter and pilgrim assistance center was completed in 2023 iself. The entrance gate is also nearing completion. Initially, only the structural work was completed in the Satsang Bhavan, but now the entire Satsang Bhavan will be ready before 22nd January.

The construction work, including mudwork, leveling, tiling, flooring, windows, and doors, is progressing rapidly in the 650 square meter Satsang Bhavan. Under the supervision of the Uttar Pradesh Construction Corporation, the stage in the Satsang Bhavan has already been prepared. According to Assistant Engineer BV Niranjan Kumar, approximately 300 to 350 devotees can assemble in the Satsang Bhavan. The construction work, which began on 1st December, will be completed by 22nd January.

How the restoration work gained impetus under the Yogi government

It was in 2017, after the Yogi Adityanath-led government came into power, that the files and paper work on the restoration work of Dashrath Mahal saw the light of day. On 16th February 2021, the work began to restore the ancient splendour of Dashrath Mahal under the Yogi government. Rs 3 crores was pumped into the restoration work by the BJP government for renovation and beautification of Dashrath Mahal.

Restoration included strengthening the facilities at Dashrath Mahal. The work began with the construction and revitalization of the Satsang Bhavan, entrance gate, night shelter, and pilgrim assistance center, giving it a tangible form.

Files on restoration work ate dust under Samajwadi Party rule

From being a government that ordered the cold-bloodied murder of kar sevaks and questioned Bhagwan Shri Ram’s existence in the SC, the SP government led by Akhilesh Yadav made efforts to restore Dashrath Mahal but the same remained confined to the files.

The provision of about Rs 2.4 crore was made for the renovation of Dashrath Mahal for the first time on 31st March 2013, but the restoration was continuously postponed for lack of political will, indecision and bureaucratic inefficiencies.

Files kept moving from one table to the other, and the cost kept increasing with no work visible on the ground.

Dashrath Mahal Post-2017

The Dashrath Mahal is a key tourist destination in Ayodhya and has been decorated with attractive features that bring this historic structure to life. The facade lighting physically attracts the devotees towards Dasharatha Mahal. Its beauty provides aura with a very special decoration.

The building’s restoration includes strengthening the structure, lime-plastering, fortifying the outer walls, and decorating the existing structure according to the faith of the devotees. Paintings depicting the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram and verses from the Holy Ramcharitmanas are on display too.

Over 80 per cent of the work on Satsang Bhavan is complete and it will be fully operational by 22nd January. After its completion, devotees can participate in devotional singing and satsang, offering their devotion at the feet of Bhagwan Shri Ram.

The entrance gate reflects the preservation of the old grandeur while incorporating modernity. It is being coated with a long-lasting paint coating for a longer endurance. The night shelter will accommodate devotees whereas the pilgrim assistance center will inform devotees about the rich heritage, historical significance, cultural contributions, and spiritual importance of the place.

Record-setter mountaineer Savita Kanswal, who died in Uttarkashi avalanche, awarded the Tenzin Norgay National Adventure Award posthumously

On Tuesday (9th January), Savita Kanswal, who made history as the first woman in India to conquer both Mount Everest and Mount Makalu within a remarkable 16-day span, was posthumously awarded the Tenzin Norgay National Adventure Award 2022 for her outstanding achievements. During the ceremony, Radheshyam Kanswal, the father of Savita Kanswal, was in attendance to accept the award, which was presented to him by President Droupadi Murmu. Savita Kanswal tragically lost her life while attempting to summit a peak in the Uttarkashi district. She died in an avalanche at Draupadi Ka Danda on 4th October 2023.

While receiving the award, her family members, including both her father and mother, were present. Tears welled up in their eyes, and a wave of emotion swept through everyone at the ceremony. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur also shared a video on his social media handle, capturing the poignant moment.

He wrote, “Heartwarming Moment of the Day A deeply emotional and pride-filled moment as Shri Radhe Shyam Kanswal ji accepts the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2022 in Land Adventure on behalf of his late daughter, Savita Kanswal. Savita became the 1st Indian woman to scale Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu in 16 days. With a decade-long career in mountaineering, she exhibited immense courage, determination, and endurance and displayed valour in the line of duty. I salute her invaluable contribution.”

Who was Savita Kanswal?

Savita Kanswal, a mountaineer hailing from the village of Lawnthru in the Bhatwadi block of Uttarkashi district, experienced a childhood marked by financial limitations. Raised by her parents, Radheshyam and Kamleshwari, who sustained the family through agriculture, Savita pursued her education in a government school.

Having harboured a passion for adventure sports since her early years, Savita Kanswal initiated NCC training at the tender age of 11 during her school days. In 2013, she undertook a foundational mountaineering course at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi.

In 2016, she successfully concluded the Advanced Mountaineering course, followed by additional accomplishments, including a mountaineering instructor course and Advanced Search and Rescue courses. Commencing her role as a trainer at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) in 2018, she exhibited diligence and passion.

Savita Kanswal’s unwavering dedication culminated in the triumphant ascent of Mount Everest on 12th May 2022. Within 16 days, on 28th May 2022, she conquered Mount Makalu. Notably, she became the second female mountaineer in the nation to proudly unfurl the tricolour on the summit of Mount Lhotse.

On 4th October, tragedy struck the Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand. This unfortunate incident occurred at the very peak that a team of 40 had set out to conquer. Some individuals lost their lives, while others were fortunate enough to be rescued. Among those who succumbed to the calamity was the courageous mountaineer and trainer, Savita Kanswal, a native of Uttarkashi who served as the team’s instructor. She was awarded the Tenzin Norgay National Adventure Award 2022 posthumously.
