Squid Game’s player 001, Oh il-nam, Korean actor O Yeong-Su charged with sexual misconduct, actor says he just held the girl’s hand

On November 25, O Yeong-Su, the Korean actor who recently won a Golden Globe for his performance in the mega-hit Netflix dystopian thriller “Squid Game”, was charged with sexual misconduct by the 2nd Criminal Division of the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office. The actor was, however, released without detention in the 2017 case.

In 2017, the 78-year-old Korean actor was accused of touching a woman inappropriately. The actor has, however, denied all the allegations levelled against him.

According to media reports, the alleged victim first filed a complaint with the police against O Yeong-Su in December last year. However, the inquiry was closed in April without the actor being charged. Now, authorities have reopened the investigation “at the request of the victim”, reads media reports.

During an interrogation by authorities investigating the case, the Squid Game actor denied all allegations levelled against him, saying that he had just held the victim’s hand to guide her around the lake.

Variety quoted the actor’s statement to JTBC in the matter, the actor said, “I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake. I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.”

The blockbuster Netflix hit ‘Squid Game’ has made O Yeong-Su famous not only in South Korea but all over the world. He has acted in more than 200 stage plays and films, such as Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter…and Spring, and A Little Monk and Soul Guardians. Besides Squid Game, he also appeared in drama series like Chocolate, God of War, The Great Queen Seondeok, and Moon River.

His most popular act remains Squid Game, which released in September 2021. Among those who appeared in the show were Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Lee Byung Hun, Lee Ji Ha, and Anupam Tripathi.

The show earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a series, a mini-series or television film. He also got an Emmy nomination for the same.

Gujarat polls: Ex-Congress leader Shakersinh Vaghela hails gangster Abdul Latif, says he was ‘generous, popular, and helpful to people’

0

Former Gujarat CM Shankersinh Vaghela on Saturday hailed gangster Abdul Latif, stating that he was “popular, generous, and helpful to the people.”

The comment from the veteran politician came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a pointed attack against the Congress party, asserting that it was because of Congress that riots erupted in Gujarat in 2002, but there is permanent peace in the state since. Shah said BJP brought peace in the state and instilled a sense of fear among criminals.

Vaghela, who had a long association with the Congress party but resigned from the party last year, said that infamous gangster Abdul Latif was quite popular among people and was generous towards them.

“He was a don but a kind-hearted one. He was very generous, popular, and helped people here. That’s why he won elections from wherever he stood,” Vaghela emphasised in his interview with ABP News.

The former Gujarat leader said Latif was encountered under Dilip Parekh’s government that was formed by his support.

Gangster Abdul Latif and his encounter

Abdul Latif was born in the Kalupur area of Ahmedabad in 1951 in a poor Muslim family. One of seven children of his father, he couldn’t get a decent upbringing and struggled to finish school. He was soon employed by his father at his shop, where he sold tobacco, but he started fighting with his father for more money. After getting into his 20s, he decided to go his own way.

To make quick money, he entered the world of illicit businesses and joined Allah Rakha, a bootlegger who also ran a gambling den. Latif was first employed at the gambling den. He then left Allah Rakha and joined a rival gambler, but parted ways with him too after being accused of theft.

He then became a bootlegger himself, and that’s where his journey into the world of crime, politics, and terrorism started. As a bootlegger, he established contacts and relationships with smugglers, criminals, policemen and politicians who helped and allowed this illegal business to flourish.

In the process of growing his clout and illicit business, Latif became involved in other crimes like extortion, kidnapping and even murders. He developed contacts in Pakistan too. He formed his own gang, and at one point of time in the early 80s, he indulged in a gang war against Dawood Ibrahim.

In 1995, BJP formed its own government in Gujarat and the same year later Latif was arrested in Delhi following a two-month-long operation led by the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Gujarat Police. Latif was lodged in Sabarmati Jail of Ahmedabad subsequently, and two years later, he was killed in an encounter when he tried to flee from police custody.

UP: Sohail Ansari brainwashes minor Hindu girl into eloping, she changes her mind and hides in a drainpipe, found after 9-hour long search

0

On November 23, Wednesday, police in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district rescued a minor Hindu girl from a drainpipe in a field after a nearly nine-hour search. It was learnt that the girl had run away from her school situated in Bilochpura village in the Pilana Block in the Baghpat District of Uttar Pradesh after she was brainwashed into eloping by a youth named Sohail Ansari.

The victim, who belongs to the Dalit community, had, however, altered her mind at the last minute because she feared her family had learned about her plan to elope with Ansari. According to a Swarajya report, the girl did not go to the location where she was supposed to meet the youth. Instead, she went to a field and hid in a drainpipe. She was afraid of being yelled at if she returned home, so she kept hiding in the field until the Baghpat police discovered her and returned her to her parents.

Press note released by Baghpat police on November 23

The youth Sohail Ansari, who is 10 years older than the victim, was arrested on charges of kidnapping. The Baghpat police invoked IPC section 363 as well as Section 7/8 of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 3(2)5A of the Scheduled Castes (Prevention of Atrocity) Act (FIR number 306/2022 filed at Singhawali Ahir police station) against the accused.

Baghpat police took to Twitter to inform that the Singhawalu Ahir police station launched a search operation after it received information about the missing girl, who is 15, around 10.30 am on November 23. Teams of five police stations were deployed for her search, besides a dog squad and other units of the police force. She was found around 6.30 pm in an agricultural field.

Speaking about the incident, Baghpat Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Jadaun told Swarajya that if the police had not found her in time, it might have proved fatal for the girl. It could get very cold and there was fear of wild animals roaming in the night, he said.

Uttar Pradesh: Factory manager dies after falling into blast furnace, family members say he was murdered by owner Asif Ali

0

A case has come to the fore in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district where a man died under mysterious circumstances after reportedly falling into a blast furnace inside an iron smelting factory. According to reports, Anurag Tyagi, the manager of the smelting factory in Hapur, died suspiciously hours after he allegedly had an argument with factory owner Asif Ali.

While factory owner Asif Ali is calling the incident a suicide, the relatives of Anurag are alleging that he has been murdered by the owner himself. After receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the facility and secured the premises, initiating an investigation.

Anurag Tyagi, 40, was a resident of Qila Parikshitgarh in Meerut. He and his family were now residing in Sihani, Ghaziabad. Anurag used to work as a manager in an iron smelting factory in Dhaulana industrial region in Hapur. Asif Ali, a native of Khekra in the Baghpat district, owns this factory. Anurag began working here around 6 months ago.

Anurag’s brother, Arun Kumar Tyagi, alleges that the factory owner killed him by throwing him into the furnace. “My brother had begun work at 9:00 AM, and at 11 AM, I had a video call with him. At 2:30 PM, the workers called to inform me that Anurag has been injured. After a few minutes, the police called and requested that I come to the factory as quickly as possible,” Arun stated.

“When I arrived at the facility, I was informed that my brother had passed away. When I inquired about the dead body, I discovered that it did not exist. My brother had committed suicide by leaping into the iron smelting, I was informed at the plant,” Arun went on to say.

Calling Anurag’s death a murder, Arun Tyagi said, “My brother had a dispute with the factory owner over something. After this, my brother was thrown into the furnace by the factory owner and now it is being given the name of suicide. If the police investigates properly, everything will be clear.”

Arun stated that the factory engaged ten people, including Anurag Tyagi. Following the incident, all of the factory’s employees escaped. The hard drive of the company’s CCTV camera has also gone missing.

“The plant has been sealed for the time being,” stated SDM Vivek Yadav of Dhaulana Tehsil. “Nothing can be seen from above in the furnace where Anurag is alleged to have died. The furnace is so hot that even standing close to it is hazardous. After the fire dies down, the police forensic team will look at it,” he said.

Talking about the death, Inspector Satendra Kumar Singh said, “The plant owner has been accused of murder by the relatives. The factory owner and staff are being questioned about the incident. The footage from the factory’s CCTV cameras is yet to be retrieved.”

Audrey Truschke repeats lie debunked in court, says belly of pregnant Muslim woman was cut during Gujarat riots: Here are the facts

Hinduphobic professor Audrey Truschke of Rutgers University in the USA, who keeps spreading fake news against Hindus and against India, has done it again. But this time she posted a claim on Twitter which has been proven as a lie long ago. On November 26, she posted a tweet saying, “In 2002, Modi oversaw a massacre of Muslims in Gujarat. They burnt shops, cut open the bellies of pregnant women, raped, and killed thousands.”

She further claimed that BJP is “celebrating those horrors”, citing a report that misquoted home minister Amit Shah’s speech yesterday in Gujarat.

In the line “In 2002, Modi oversaw a massacre of Muslims in Gujarat. They burnt shops, cut open the bellies of pregnant women, raped, and killed thousands” that Audrey Truschke posted, there are multiple lies, and they have been thoroughly debunked after by probe agencies and the courts, including the highest court of India.

False claim about the belly of a pregnant woman cut open

The most worrisome claim is that the bellies of pregnant women were cut during the 2002 Gujarat riots by Hindus. This comes from the claim that during the riots triggered by the horrific Godhra train massacre, a pregnant Muslim woman’s womb was ripped open and the foetus was pulled out using a sword by a Hindu mob. The alleged attack on Kausar Bano took place at Naroda Patiya in Ahmedabad on 28th February 2002, a day after the Godhra attack.

While the incident at the Naroda Patiya was one of the major incidents of the 2002 Gujarat riots where Muslims were attacked, the allegations of pregnant Kausar Bano’s belly cut and her foetus being pulled out by the rioters were completely false. The allegation was first made by Kausar Bano’s sister in Saira Bano, and there were several versions of how it happened. Some reports said the foetus was slaughtered with the sword, and in some versions, the foetus was swung on the point of the sword and then thrown into a fire.

Oped articles attacking BJP and Modi over the Gujarat riots keep mentioning this ‘incident’, but the fact is, it was a false claim. Kausar Bano did die during the riots, but the rioters didn’t cut her belly open and didn’t pull the foetus out. Dr J S Kanoria, who conducted the post-mortem on the woman’s body on March 1, a day after she died, had said in the court that the foetus was intact in the womb of Bano.

The doctor had submitted medical evidence in the court, which showed that the foetus weighed 2,500 gm and was 45 cm long.

Moreover, the post-mortem examination also found that there was no mark of any external injury on Kausar Bano’s body, which means the allegation that she was attacked by swords is false. The report said she died due to suffocation, fear and shock. Dr J S Kanoria told the court that there was no sword injury on the body. He also said that Kausar Bano’s foetus was removed after the post-mortem was conducted.

False claim of Modi’s role in riots

The claim by Audrey Truschke that Modi oversaw a massacre of Muslims in Gujarat in 2002 is a claim that left-liberals and Islamists continue to make, despite having no evidence. The Godhra massacre took place on February 27, the spontaneous riots broke out in response on February 28, and the state government under CM Modi called the army to control the riots the next day, on March 1. The SIT probing the riots have categorically said that there was no delay in calling the army.

In June this year, the Supreme Court of India settled the matter, ruling out any involvement of Modi in the riots. The court also said that the few people who claimed that Modi had instructed police not to stop the rioters were lying.

False claim of thousands of Muslims killed in Gujarat riots

Audrey Truschke also claimed that ‘thousands of Muslims were killed by Hindus’ in the Gujarat riots, another big lie the anti-Hindu camp keeps repeating. According to official data, the total death count in the Gujarat riots was 1125, out of which 863 were Muslims and 262 were Hindus. It is notable that the 2002 Gujarat riots was not one-sided pogrom like the 1986 anti-Sikh riots by the Congress party. While Hindus had attacked Muslims after the Godhra incident, Muslims had also attacked Hindu localities in retaliation.

Moreover, not all deaths were the result of attacks by rioters. Over a hundred people died in police firing to control the riots. The majority of those shot dead by police were Hindus.

Also, among the 1125 deaths, not all of them were confirmed deaths. The original death figure was around 950, and many people were missing. Around 200 missing people were added to the death count in 2009, after they could not be traced seven after their disappearance, according to rules. Many people were found years later, especially children who were found and raised by others.

False claim of BJP celebrating 2002 riots

Audrey Truschke‘s last claim, that BJP is celebrating the 2002 riots, is also completely false. In a speech delivered in Gujarati yesterday, Amit Shah had said that there is peace in Gujarat now after anti-social elements were taught a lesson in 2002. He was referring to how the Gujarat riot was stopped by the police and how the rioters have been punished.

But many media houses distorted his comments, implying that he was talking about the violence against Muslims. Among them was NDTV, which had posted two different tweets misquoting Amit Shah, which gave the wrong impression that he was talking about the riots, while in reality, he was talking about police action against the rioters.

The real incident where the belly of a pregnant Hindu woman was cut open by Muslim rioters

While the incident of ripping open the belly of a pregnant woman didn’t take place during the Gujarat riots, such an incident did take place in a massacre of Hindus by Muslims. During the Moplah rebellion against British rule in the Malabar area in Kerala in 1921, 38 Hindus were slaughtered by Muslims. The Hindus were accused of helping the military, and the Muslim fanatics attacked and killed them.

Among the Hindu victims was a woman who was 7 months pregnant. Her belly was cut open by the Muslim attackers, and the foetus had come out of that opening. This was informed by Annie Beasant, who had narrated the incident in an article published in New India. Opposing the way how the Khilafat movement was going on, she had narrated how the Moplah rioters had created havoc among Hindus.

Annie Beasant wrote, “Can you conceive of a more ghastly and inhuman crime than the murders of babies and pregnant women?…A pregnant woman carrying 7 months was cut through the abdomen by a rebel and she was seen lying dead on the way with the dead child projecting out of the womb…Another: a baby of six months was snatched away from the breast of his own mother and cut into two pieces… Are these rebels human beings or monsters?”

This was mentioned in an article published on 29 November, 1921, in New India. She was very critical of MK Gandhi for letting the violence by Muslims go on in the name of protest against the British.

Slip with Christian verse distributed by Vizag police, netizens question police explanation: Details

On Friday (November 25), the Vizag Traffic Police Department came under scanner after a copy of a bill, embossed with the image of Jesus Christ and a biblical verse, went viral on social media.

An image of the contentious bill was posted on Twitter by TDP leader Aman Venkata Ramana Reddy. The slip, issued on Friday, charged a customer ₹80 for ferrying him/her via auto from the railway station to VIP Road in Vizag.

Interestingly, the bill mentioned ‘Traffic Police, Visakhapatnam City’ at the top while the image of Jesus Christ was seen printed at the bottom. It also followed a verse from the Bible, which read, “The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

The same copy of the bill was also shared on the micro-blogging site by RSS ideologue, Ratan Sharda. “Traffic police challan in #AndhraPradesh comes with a message of #Jesus! Viva #Secularism. Why is no Indian going to courts? Are lawyers of AP only busy making money?” he asked.

Following outrage on social media, the Vizag police issued an explanation of the matter. It claimed, “The slips handed over by one autodriver to head constable unfortunately with his ignorance in emergency he distributed the slips.”

“It was stopped immediately after coming to notice. It was not done intentionally,” the Twitter handle of the Vizag City Police asserted. However, netizens were not convinced by the clarification and accused the cops of deceit.

One Phani Kiran wrote, “One auto driver, one head constable and one CM – 3 undercover agents.” He suggested that the trio are complicit in the propagation of Christianity using the State’s resources.

Another user accused the Vizag police of brushing the matter under carpet. “Nice cover”, he tweeted.

“On the slip there is clear mention of Traffic Police, Visakhapatnam. If the entire Police Department of Vizag district practices Christianity, it’s ok. Just do not lie which is against your religion,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another user suggested that the cops learn the art of lying when quizzed on issues of public interest. “If you choose to lie atleast make it believable,” he wrote.

One Hari Damcherla urged the cops to submit the script of the story to acclaimed director Rahamouli for a new movie. “Shame on Andhra Pradesh police. Who ever doing this resign and join in church” he said.

“Police department behave yourself, maintain the integrity of the police, and don’t be like goats in front of YCP party members,” another Twitter user emphasised.

While speaking about the matter, a source from Vijaywada told Opindia that the slip is not a challan from the police. He informed that the image that is doing the rounds of the internet is in fact the pre-paid bill of auto service, available at railway stations.

On being asked about the statement issued by the Vizag police, he said, “Cover up. Nothing much. I have seen mushrooming of churches in Vijaywada ever since Jaganmohan Reddy took charge as the Andhra CM.” Our source chose to speak anonymously for fear of backlash from YSRCP supporters.

G-20 leaders start India visit by visiting cellular jail, the prison where Veer Savarkar spent a decade

0

The G-20 delegation arrived in Port Blair in Andaman & Nicobar Islands yesterday afternoon for an interactive briefing for the heads of missions of G-20 countries in India. India has assumed the presidency of the G-20 following Indonesia’s stint. India will assume the G-20 presidency for a year and will chair over 200 meetings during that period.

It is notable that G-20 is one of the most influential groups in the world holding more than 60% of the world’s population, 80% of the world’s GDP, and 75% of international trade.

The G-20 delegation received a very warm welcome in Port Blair where they arrived for their India stay. Soon after their arrival, the delegation visited the National Memorial Cellular Jail where the Britishers kept the prisoners they feared the most during the ‘British Raj’ in India. It is notable that Vinayak Damodar Savarkar aka Veer Savarkar spent a decade of his life in this prison.

The delegates visiting India include British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis, Russian ambassador Denis Alipov, German envoy Dr. P Ackermann, and Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O’Farrell among others.

Speaking to PTI, the MP of the area, Kuldeep Rai Sharma said, “The people of Andaman are very excited for the event, and are gearing up to accord the delegates a warm welcome. Not only will this bring our beautiful islands on the global map as far tourism is concerned, it will also lead to a lot of developmental projects.”

Sharma further added, “I had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, requesting him to hold one of the meetings in Andaman, and I am happy that it is happening now.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said India’s G20 presidency will be inclusive, ambitious, decisive, and action-oriented, noting that the country is taking charge when the world is facing geopolitical tensions, economic slowdown, and rising food and fuel prices.

‘Legal content to be translated into regional languages in searchable format’: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju

0

On the occasion of Constitution Day (November 26), Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju said that according to the wishes of PM Modi, legal content would be translated into the country’s regional languages. For this, the Bar Council of India (BCI) in collaboration with the ministry has formed a committee headed by former CJI SA Bobde. The committee, headed by Justice Bobde, will translate legal content into regional languages and create a common legal vocabulary for all Indian languages.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “The legislative department has prepared a glossary containing 65,000 wording of the law. We plan to digitize it so that the public can use it easily. Efforts will be made to collect, digitize and make legal terminology published in regional languages so that it is available to the public.”

Kiren Rijiju added, “PM Modi has said on several occasions that local languages should be encouraged in courts so that the confidence of the common people in the judicial system of the country increases and they feel connected to it. The Bobde Committee will prepare a common foundational legal vocabulary of all Indian languages to translate legal content into regional languages as a first step. It will list words and phrases frequently used in different branches of law.”

Constituting the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti under the chairmanship of former CJI SA Bobde to bring all the legal glossary into various Indic languages is seen as a step in the direction of the goals of decolonization described by PM Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech this year. It is notable that according to article 348(1) of the Constitution of India it is mandatory to do all proceedings in the Supreme Court and in every High Court shall be in the English language until Parliament by law otherwise provides.

Mamaearth and its founder Ghazal Alagh tender apology after drawing backlash over the company’s rationalisation of Richa Chadha’s Galwan jibe

After Mamaearth rationalised the controversial remarks by actor Richa Chadha against the Indian Army, the cosmetic brand has rushed now to defence explaining that the comment it made was poorly drafted.

In a regret following the controversy, Mamaearth took to Twitter and wrote, “Mamaearth sincerely regrets hurting any sentiments due to a poorly drafted comment on Twitter. We are a proud Indian company that respects and stands by our armed forces. We do not subscribe to the views shared by any individual who thinks otherwise.”

Also, its founder and Chief Executive Officer Ghazal Alagh tendered an apology saying that a mistake by a team member ‘unintentionally hurt’ a lot of people. Quoting the tweet by the brand’s official handle, she wrote, “Ek Team Member Ke Galat Comment Ki Wajah Se We Have Unintentionally Hurt A Lot Of People, Truly Sorry For It. Aise Kisi Vichaar Ko Jo India Ya Army Ke Against Ho Hum Support Nai Karte. We Are A Company Run Entirely By Proud Indians.”

On Thursday (November 24), social media users called for a boycott of the cosmetic company ‘Mamaearth’ after it attempted to justify Richa Chadha’s anti-army post. The actress sparked outrage on Wednesday (November 23) when she insulted the 20 soldiers killed in combat during the Galwan Valley conflict with the Chinese Army in 2020.

Furious netizens confronted ‘Mamaeath’ about its connection to Richa Chadha and if it supported her message. Instead of avoiding the controversy, Mamaearth put itself in the crosshairs.

“Hey! Brand Mamaearth too does not support anyone mocking our Bravehearts. The words ‘Galwan says hi’ are not conclusive and we interpret as a recall of the upperhand Indian army had in such a tough terrain and even being outnumbered at the standoff,” it tweeted in support of Richa Chadha.

The remark enraged netizens, who called for a total boycott of the company in response to its ‘endorsement’ of the actress’ statement. The cosmetic brand later tried to undo the damage by putting out a clarification. “Brand Mamaearth does not support or subscribe to any offensive views or disparaging comments against our country or army. #saluteindianarmy,” it stated in a subsequent tweet.

The company’s co-founder, Varun Alagh, clarified that Richa Chadha is not the brand ambassador of Mamaearth. “Hum Kattar desh premi hai, shuddh made in India for India and will always support our country’s troops. Apologies if this was misunderstood, getting it corrected,” he said.
