Silly Souls: Dear Priyanka Chaturvedi, here is why you need to learn logical reasoning over and above maths

On Tuesday (August 2), Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi ignited the controversy surrounding the ownership of Silly Souls restaurant in Goa by Smriti Irani’s daughter, Zoish Irani.

“Seriously Silly Souls. Which version does one believe?”, she tweeted while attaching 2 screenshots of reports from Money Control and The Indian Express.

The attempt by the Sena leader to cast aspersions about Zoish Irani comes days after the Delhi High Court junked similar allegations levelled by the Congress party.

Priyanka Chaturvedi’s tweet was not just a cheap attempt at scoring political brownies but also a clear reflection of her poor comprehension skills. To bolster her arguments, the Sena leader shared a news report published by Money Control.

Titled, ‘Smriti Irani is a proud mom as praise pours in for her daughter’s culinary skills’, the report published in April this year stated that food writer Kunal Vijaykar praised ‘owner’ Zoish Irani for the tour of ‘Silly Souls Restaurant’.

“My craving for Asian food has got me to Goa Silly Souls and to my surprise apart from the yummy and delicious Asian spread the owner Zoish Irani has a superb menu of Italian food as well,” his Instagram post read.

Smriti Irani then posted a screenshot of the post on her Instagram story and wrote, ” So proud Zoish Irani, Silly Souls Goa.” Her story did not corroborate the claim by food writer Kunal Vijaykar that Zoish Irani was the owner of the restaurant.

Vijakar had erred in his Instagram post and mistook Zoish Irani as Silly Souls’ owner. As a matter of fact, she was an intern who happened to give a tour of the restaurant to the food writer.

Her lawyer Kirat Nagra recently clarified that Zoish Irani “has no control or oversight into the management and affairs of the eatery and her limited interaction at the facility was only while doing an internship program with the chef of Silly Souls Café.”

Priyanka Chaturvedi has the right to disbelieve the lawyer of Zoish Irani out of political compulsions. However, the confusion over the ownership, as claimed by the Sena leader, would have still made sense if the matter was raised in April 2022.

In the absence of judicial intervention and publicly available documents, claims of ingenuity could have been justified back then. But, the Delhi High Court has made it crystal clear that neither Smriti Irani nor Zoish Irani is the owner of ‘Silly Souls.’

In the order copy, Justice Mini Pushkarna emphasised, “Neither the restaurant nor the land on which the restaurant exists is owned by the plaintiff or her daughter”. The Delhi High Court said that prima facie, the court was convinced that the statements against Smriti Irani were libellous and slanderous and done with malicious intent.

On July 29, the real owners of the restaurant Merlyn Anthony D’Gama and her son Dean D’Gama replied to a show cause notice issued by Excise Commissioner Narayan M Gad. In the reply, they stated that the property “is exclusively its business and involves no other person/ persons”.

When the Court has junked all allegations of ‘ownership’, and the real owners have issued a clarification on the matter, it makes no sense to put across a news report from April to allege a ‘large conspiracy’ behind the court ruling.

Priyanka Chaturvedi felt it was ‘okay’ to pass off erroneous, obsolete information as truth while ignoring the new developments in the story. Besides malicious intent at defaming a young girl, it also highlights the Sena leader’s lack of logical reasoning abilities.

Priyanka Chaturvedi and her struggle with Mathematics

Earlier in 2020, Priyanka Chaturvedi had displayed her poor understanding of Mathematics. During the migrant crisis following the Coronavirus lockdown, she falsely claimed that the Modi government amassed huge profits by running special trains for migrant workers.

The Sena leader failed to comprehend the difference between the ‘revenue earned’ and ‘profit’. Contrary to the claims of Priyanka Chaturvedi that the Indian Railways earned huge profits, the Railways has spent Rs 2,142 crore on running Shramik Special trains but earned a ‘revenue’ of just Rs 429 crore and did not incur any ‘profit’.

In fact, the Modi government had incurred a loss of nearly Rs 1,700 crores after it ran Shramik trains to ferry back the stranded migrant labours from various parts of the country.

She had falsely claimed that 15% of all students are somehow dyslexic and that their total count stood at 228 million.

“For a disorder that is believed to occur in one among ten people, the figure given by Priyanka Chaturvedi looks highly disproportionate. If we were to look at the total population of India, then again the figure of more than 22.8 crores only among the school going population out of a total population of 125 crores turns out to be highly exaggerated”, read an article in The Frustrated Indian.

As early as 2014, she was seen misreading numbers and portraying growth as an impediment of Modi government’s Aache Din

While Priyanka Chaturvedi had earlier struggled with Mathematics, it is high time for her to take tuition classes for logical reasoning and comprehsion too.

Enforcement Directorate raids multiples locations in Delhi in the National Herald money laundering case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided 12 locations linked to National Herald, a newspaper owned by Young Indian Pvt Ltd, a company by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, in connection with a money laundering case.

Rahul Gandhi was questioned by ED on June 13 for over 6 hours and his statement was recorded under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED had recorded the statements of all those involved in the case, with the exception of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. The agency, however, had issued summoned to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on July 11 for recording her statement on July 21.

Then in July, the Enforcement Directorate questioned Sonia Gandhi in connection with the money laundering case linked to National Herald, triggering massive protests by Congress leaders and supporters, who took to streets demonstrating against the central agency for interrogating the Gandhi family.

The National Herald scam is one of the most notable legal cases in Indian history, as the Gandhis are directly accused. The Mother-Son duo of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul, along with their aides – Oscar Fernandez, Motilal Vohra and Sam Pithroda are alleged to have been involved in massive ‘cheating and breach of trust’ in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) by Young Indian Pvt Ltd (YIL). Assets worth crores of rupees had been allegedly transferred for purposes other than originally intended for a paltry sum. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had got unconditional bail in December 2015.

Pakistani drug peddlers scared of Gujarat Police, Rahul Gandhi said Guj govt was favouring ‘drug mafia’ just hours before audio went viral

On Monday, an audio clip of Pakistani drug peddlers recovered by the Gujarat police, mainly the Anti-terrorist Squad, revealed that the international mafia was scared to smuggle drugs into the country through the state’s coast. The clip consists of a conversation between two smugglers where one of them says “It’s impossible to ship narcotic substances to India and escape safely”.

“See Hashimbhai, I had meetings with some individuals, however, no one is ready to sail with the drugs. Not simply 190 miles, the Indian forces have been patrolling as much as 400 miles until the worldwide border. It’s impossible to sail with the maal (drugs),” one of the smugglers is heard telling Hashim, the drug lord, within the audio clip attained by the Gujarat police.

He’s additionally heard saying that it is impossible to land within the coastal districts of Jamnagar and Porbandar. “Who doesn’t want money? However, even the bravest individuals, the sailors, and the drug runners are not ready to carry the drugs. There’s not even 1% chance of escaping India (police and defence forces)”, the clip says.

According to the reports, in the previous three years, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad has effectively foiled international mafia attempts to smuggle narcotics into the country via the state’s shore, arresting around 65 drug peddlers, including 30 Pakistan nationals. It has confiscated 1,045 kg of contraband, including heroin, worth Rs 5,200 crore, and apprehended 30 Pakistanis, seven Iranians, three Afghans, and one Nigerian, an ATS release notes. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) also seized 3,000 kilos of heroin from two cargo containers at Mundra Port in September last year, it stated. The drug is said to have originated in Afghanistan.

To note, the ATS’ intelligence on drug transport and the battle against the issue comes just a day after Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi vehemently attacked the ruling BJP on Monday, accusing the party of alleged support of the drug cartel. “Drugs recovered at Gujarat’s Mundra port –September 2021, 3000 Kg worth Rs 21000 Crore; May 2022, 56 Kg worth Rs 500 crore and July 2022, 75 Kg worth Rs 375 crore. Who are the people sitting in the double-engine government who are constantly giving patronage to the drug-liquor mafia? Why are the youth of Gujarat being forced into drugs?” Rahul Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

In the series of tweets, he asked further how drugs were landing at the same port continuously, despite the seizure of drugs there three times. “Is there law and order in Gujarat? Does the mafia have no fear of the law? Or is this the government of mafias?” Gandhi said on August 1.

Deepan Bhadran, ATS Deputy Inspector General meanwhile noted that smugglers have recently begun employing two distinct methods to get narcotics into the nation. “They either use a fishing boat to enter Gujarat through the sea route illegally or send the contraband in shipping containers which land at our ports. But, Gujarat ATS, in coordination with central agencies like DRI and Coast Guard, has foiled all these attempts during the last few years,” Bhadran was quoted.

Stating further that Gujarat has zero tolerance for such crimes, he said, “the ATS and other agencies are always alert to nab the culprits and foil their attempts. Drug smuggling is a crime without borders and that is why central agencies and ATS work together to foil the attempts of drug mafias”.

Reports mention that the arrest of 667 mafia members and 422 cases under the Narcotic Medicine and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has caused concern among Gujarat police personnel and the ATS. Gujarat police have charged 30 Pakistanis, 17 Iranians, two Afghan nationals, and one Nigerian citizen under the NDPS Act in the past two years. In recent years, the Gujarat ATS has carried out at least ten significant operations, including mid-sea operations and raids in various parts of the nation.

Jodhpur: Karan Johar, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul found ‘innocent’ by court in 2018 case over remarks against women on Koffee With Karan show

The Jodhpur Court on Tuesday granted relief to cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul and film director Karan Johar, in a case that was registered against the trio, for some offensive remarks made by the cricketer duo on the talk show “Koffee with Karan,” hosted by Karan Johar in 2018.

According to reports, the High Court dismissed the case filed by one DR Meghwal against the three after they were declared ‘innocent.’

It may be recalled that back in the year 2018, an episode featuring KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya aired on the sixth season of the talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’ hosted by Karan Johar where the two cricketers freely talked about hooking up with girls, being open with their families about sex, and hitting on girls in nightclubs, among other things.

Immediately after the episode aired, online outrage began against the duo’s comments with Pandya, in particular, getting severe criticism. Netizens criticised the duo as they considered the remarks made against women during the show as highly sexiest, and misogynist. Karan Johar was also castigated for encouraging such misogyny on his show.

The controversy became so huge that, at first Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were issued show cause notices by the BCCI for their comments on women on the TV show. The BCCI even dropped the duo from the first one-day international (ODI) against Australia after the controversy.

Following the outrage, Pandya took to Twitter to apologise for the comments he had made on the show. He said, “After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar also apologised for the controversy relating to the comments made by cricketer Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on his TV show “Koffee with Karan”.

However, the controversy refused to die down. Later, a case was registered against the cricketers and the filmmaker under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on a complaint filed by DR Meghwal at Jodhpur’s Luni police station. However, today, three years later, the Jodhpur court granted relief to the trio in the case filed by DR Meghwal.

Gau mutra jibes, demonisation of Jai Shree Ram and more: Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan in a soup after filmwriter’s Hinduphobic tweets go viral

Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Raksha Bandhan’ is set to release on 11th August 2022, the day of festival that celebrates bond between brother and sister. However, just days before its theatrical release the film has run into controversy after the film writer Kanika Dhillon’s Hinduphobic tweets have gone viral on social media.

Last month, the actor had tweeted, “A film celebrating the most special bond where there genuinely was a lot of bonding. Sharing a few special moments of this very special film, coming to a theatre near you in 1 month. RakshaBandhan releasing on 11th August in cinemas.”

But, social media users are now calling for a boycott of the movie over the past tweets of its writer Kanika Dhillon. They argued that while Dhillon has been making money off Hindus, she has been at the forefront of making derogatory remarks against the same community.

Makes gaumutra, gaumata jibes

As evident from her Twitter, Kanika Dhillon is an unabashed critic of the Modi government. But, under the guise of targeting the BJP and PM Modi, she has repeatedly attacked Hindu beliefs and religious sentiments.

“Dying in the parking lot after waiting for a hospital bed…Yeh aache din hai! India super power hai! Aur gau mata ka mutra peene see Covid chala jayega (These are the good days…India is a super power. And drinking cow’s urine will cure Covid-19).”

The ‘gaumutra’ jibe has often been used by Islamists and their apologists, including the Pulwama terrorist Ahmed Dhar. He killed the CRPF soldiers as he wanted to avenge those who ‘drink cow urine.’

In several of her tweets, Kanika Dhillon was seen invoking ‘Gau mata’ to take potshots at the ruling dispensation at the Centre.

“Hmm you think one day the cows of India will also be contesting elections? Since they offer more solutions- benefits and protection than our Ministers! Holy cow! Jai Gaiyaa Mayya ki!” she had tweeted.

While labelling Hindustan as ‘Lynchistan’ over isolated cow vigilante attacks, she claimed that the ‘horrifed’ cows are willing to migrate to the United States and tolerate then US President Donald Trump instead of being in India.

The writer of Raksha Bandhan also derided Hindu sentiments by mocking cows while demanding a law against mob lynchings.

Tricking the Hindu community into perpetual guilt

Kanika Dhillon has targeted the Hindu community randomly through her tweets. “Loving it Anuj Chauhan! Hindu hoon chutiya nahin,” she had tweeted in January 2020.

She had also tried to trick Hindus into guilt by indirectly blaming them for religious fanaticism in the country. Although she urges her followers to go beyond the ‘Hindu-Muslim’ narrative, the writer has been firm in cherry-picking communal incidents and making it about Hindus and Hindusim.

Hijab and appeasement politics

Kanika Dhillon also comes across as a true Islamist apologist. In several tweets, she was seen painting the Muslims as the perpetual victims of the State while keeping her eyes shut to the atrocities committed by their co-religionists.

Screengrab of the tweet by Kanika Dhillon

She was seen labelling students chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as hooligans while batting for a Burqa-wearing Muskan Khan.

Screengrab of the tweet by Kanika Dhillon

Dhillon had backed Muskan Khan and her ‘right’ to wear Hijab in college campus but later went on to blame the Hindu side for bringing religion into educational institues.

She was also seen promoting the likes of Rana Ayyub, who has a history of defaming India at a global level.

Screengrab of her tweet

Kanika Dhillon is also the scriptwriter of the movie ‘Kedarnath’. She is also the writer of books ‘Shiva and the Rise of the Shadows’ and ‘The Dance of Durga.’ Despite making big bucks off Hindu deities, and festivals, it did not deter Kanika Dhillon from mocking Hindu beliefs.

Given that several movies, based on Hinduphobic themes, have tanked on the box office in recent months, only time will tell whether the past tweets of Kanika Dhillon will have an impact on the earnings of the movie Raksha Bandhan.

Aamir Khan claims he loves India, then why did he want to keep Gujaratis deprived of water

As calls to boycott Aamir Khan’s latest film Laal Singh Chadha, a seemingly poor copy of Hollywood classic Forrest Gump, gain momentum ahead of its theatre release, the Bollywood actor has now said that he ‘loves India‘ to get people to watch his film. While some people want to boycott Laal Singh Chaddha because they fear that Aamir has ruined another Hollywood classic, most are boycotting it because of Aamir’s anti-Hindu stance in his movie PK and subsequent anti-India statements despite India making his film the highest ever grosser.

PK may be a distasteful film which mocks the faith of Hindus, who have called for boycott of film instead of beheading like people from other faith do, but Gujaratis have other reasons to dislike Khan.

In April 2006, Aamir Khan joined hands with Medha Patkar of ‘Narmada Bachao Andolan’ and protested against Gujarat government’s decision to raise the height of Narmada Dam. The increased dam height will not only provide drinking and irrigation water to people in parched areas of Gujarat like the Kutch and Saurashtra region but also in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Subsequent to his support opposing development work in Gujarat that would bring water to lakhs of homes, Gujaratis had decided to boycott his film Fanaa. When he was asked whether Gujaratis boycotting his film will affect the revenue, Khan had said how losing Rs 5 to 7 crore will not impact the film. Khan had claimed he was not opposing construction of dam but wanted those being displaced by the damn to be rehabilitated. You can read the action taken regarding the rehabilitation of those displaced in all three states, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh here.

I remember he had joined the protests against Sardar Sarovar Dam right around the time his film Rang De Basanti was in the theatre. In the film, he played role of a man who chose to hang around in Delhi University even after he had graduated from the college. One of the dialogues in the film was how he hangs out at Delhi University even after all these years because outside of the walls, no one knows him. Somehow, after death of their friend, who played role of Air Force officer, suddenly bunch of losers in college became revolutionaries and decide to kill the Defence Minister over allegations of corruption in procuring the fighter jets.

In one of the interviews during his ‘protests’, Khan had said how he was inspired by his role in Rang De Basanti and hence was joining in the protests. Khan had dropped in at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi along with his costars of the film and joined in the ‘protests’. Khan had claimed his joining the Narmada Bachao Andolan protests was not to seek publicity for his film. One is to believe that more than one actor of the film that made ‘revolutionaries’ out of jobless men coincidentally appeared at a protest site. Totally believable.

It has been over 15 years since then but Khan has not quite joined any protests in India, even when his peers from fraternity joined them because they thought if so many people have gathered for protests, it must be right. The level of intelligence Bollywood-types exude it is no wonder that when audiences reject their films, instead of introspecting, they blame the audience for not liking trash.

Now, with social media, as more and more people are voicing their views and calling out the Hinduphobic content in films and television, especially when any kind of comment on other faiths leads to beheading and riots, filmmakers cannot get away with offending religious sentiments of majority of cinegoers. However, film actors and entertainers often refer to those who criticise their films as ‘Bhakts’ because somehow in their own narcissistic bubble they are above criticism and anyone rejecting their trash on celluloid is doing so because of their political stand.

No, Gujaratis rejected Aamir Khan’s film and are still upset over his supporting Medha Patkar is because the protests were anti-people. In their madness to oppose anything Modi does, they wanted Gujaratis to die of thirst. Just to give an example, here is a clip from a village in Kutch where Narmada waters reached for the first time.

Just look at the sheer happiness. The Narmada waters have travelled almost 750 kms from the Sardar Sarovar Dam to reach this far off village in Kutch.

This water could have reached them years ago if the likes of Medha Patkar supported by Khan and such did not stall projects.

As the then chief minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi launched the Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) Yojana in September 2012. SAUNI word in Gujarati means “everyone’s”. Through SAUNI Yojana, 115 dams in the arid Saurashtra region will be filled by diverting flood waters which overflow from the Sardar Sarovar dam in South Gujarat, a couple of kilometres away.

A spider pipeline network of 1,125 km long was involved. SAUNI Yojana will provide benefit of Narmada water to 737 villages of 11 districts and 31 cities in the Kutch-Saurashra region.

Imagine keeping all these people, animals in drought-prone area deprived of water, just because you don’t like one man, Narendra Modi.

So, Aamir Khan, people are angry with you for having portrayed yourself as mocking Lord Shiva, for having a scene in your movie where you appear to be urinating on a wall next to a suitcase with image of Goddess Lakshmi on it. You have offended the Hindu. Hindus have not called for your beheading for insulting our gods. They just want to show you how Goddess Lakshmi, the divine feminine who only knows how to love, does not shower her blessing on someone who does not respect her.

‘Quattrocchi filing case against Bofors’: Himanta Biswa Sarma slams Jharkhand MLA for filing ‘fake FIR’ after 3 Congress MLAs were held with cash

On Tuesday, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the FIR filed by the Jharkhand Congress MLA named Kumar Jaimangal alleging that the 3 arrested Congress MLAs had lured him to meet Sarma, was fake. “Fake FIR in Jharkhand. The so-called FIR looks like Congress asking Ottavio Quattrocchi to file a case against Bofors”, he tweeted in sarcasm slamming Jaimangal for filing fake FIR.

This is a day after Jharkhand Police filed an FIR based on the complaint filed by Jaimangal against Congress MLAs Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachchap, and Naman Bixal Kongari. Jaimangal in the complaint claimed that the three MLAs had called him to Kolkata to meet Assam CM who was allegedly planning to topple the JMM-led government in Jharkhand. According to Jaimangal, the MLAs told him that Sarma would give him a ministerial berth in the new government as well as Rs 10 crores if he were to assist in overthrowing the current government.

Jaimangal also alleged in the complaint that arrested MLA Ansari had informed him that Sarma was involved in efforts to destabilize the administration with the permission of ‘top guns of the BJP political party sitting in Delhi’. He claimed that he did not want to be a part of ‘the unconstitutional, unlawful, and frankly criminal behavior’ and had requested the authorities to intervene in the matter.

Reportedly, the three MLAs were arrested on Sunday after the West Bengal Police found a huge amount of cash in their vehicles. Following this, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he was in touch with the Congress leaders but they never discussed politics. Sarma had left Congress and joined BJP in the year 2015. “We don’t talk about politics but being in a party for over 22 years, we keep in touch. I don’t know why FIR was filed on this”, he was quoted.

On Tuesday as Assam Minister Piyush Hazarika tweeted about the said FIR and called allegations put forth by Jharkhand Congress MLA Jaimangal baseless. “He made fake allegations that 3 arrested MLAs had lured him to meet the Assam CM. 5 days before filing the fabricated FIR, Sarma Sir took him to the residence of the Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi Ji at 9 am of 26th July 2022 in order to help him in his trade union related matter”, he said sharing a few pictures of the meeting.

Hazarika also added that Jaimangal has been meeting CM Sarma regularly. Reiterating that the FIR filed by the Congress MLA was fake, he said that ‘Jaimangal should face the law for making a fraudulent allegation against Chief Minister of Assam and against those tribal MLAs’.

The state of Jharkhand is governed by a coalition of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the Congress, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal, with the Bharatiya Janata Party in opposition. On Sunday, an FIR based on Jaimangal’s allegation was submitted at Ranchi’s Argora police station. Sections 8 (bribery of a public servant) and 9 (bribery of a public servant by a commercial organisation) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Section 171B of the Representation of the People Act (bribery), and criminal conspiracy sections of the Indian Penal Code have been cited by the police.

Jharkhand: Primary Education Dept orders to remove ‘Urdu’ from name of schools not notified by govt, weekly off to be only on Sunday, not Friday

On August 1, the Directorate of Primary Education under the Department of School Education and Literacy issued an order to remove the word ‘Urdu’ from the schools that have not been notified as Urdu Schools. The department further ordered to keep the weekly holiday on Sunday and not on Friday, as these schools have started observing.

The order, signed by Secretary of DOSE&L Rajesh Kumar Sharma, stated that the department received information that some schools have added the word ‘Urdu’ and started observing weekly offs on Friday instead of Sunday. It further noted that those schools also changed the schedule of mid-day meals accordingly and changed the pre-prayer methods.

It read, “Keeping in view the seriousness of the subject matter, the following guidelines are given after due consideration:

  1. Except for the notified Urdu school, in which the word Urdu has been added, the Urdu word should be removed from the part of that school without delay
  2. Weekly holidays on Sundays should be ensured except for notified Urdu Schools, and the mid-day meal should be operated on Sundays
  3. Under no circumstances should any kind of academic activity be conducted on Sundays in non-notified Urdu schools.

It should also be ensured that prayer is conducted in non-notified Urdu schools as per the earlier method.”

Furthermore, the order stated that if any local person, school management or others cause any kind of obstruction in implementing the orders, it will be considered as obstructing government work and disturbing social harmony, which would lead to appropriate legal action.

The probe was ordered following reports of ‘Urdu’ added to school names

On July 20, it was reported that the Jharkhand Education Department had initiated a probe into a school in the Lohardaga district over the matter of change of name from primary school to Urdu high school. The probe was ordered after Jharkhand BJP MP Sudarshan Bhagat demanded an investigation into the case.

The MP had stated that residents and parents had voiced concerns over the word Urdu, particularly in the context of Charhu Urdu High School. “They claim it was a normal school, but how quickly it transformed into an Urdu high school. We informed the department that the problem should be looked into”, he was quoted.

Reports suggest that similar incidents have happened in multiple schools in Jharkhand where names, weekly offs and other routine activities were modified to facilitate the “requirements” of the Muslim students in Muslim-dominating areas.

PM Modi calls for changing social media DP to the Tricolour ahead of Independence Day, netizens join in to celebrate

Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed his profile photo to Tiranga and called fellow citizens to do the same between August 2 to August 15. The call was made by the PM as a part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from August 13 to August 15.

During his July 31 Mann Ki Baat episode, PM Modi said, “My dear countrymen, under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, from the 13th to the 15th of August, a special movement – ’Har Ghar Tiranga- Har Ghar Tiranga’ is being organized. By becoming a part of this movement, from August 13 to 15, you must hoist the Tricolour at your home or adorn your home with it. The Tricolor connects us, inspires us to do something for the country.”

He suggested changing the profile photo on social media to Tiranga from August 2 to August 15. He said, “I also have a suggestion that from August 2 to August 15, all of us can place the Tricolor in our social media profile pictures. By the way, do you know, August 2 also has a special connection with our Tricolor. This day is the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkaiah Ji, who designed our national flag. I pay my respectful homage to him. Talking about our national flag, I will also remember the great revolutionary Madam Cama. Her role in shaping the Tricolor has been very important.”

PM Modi added, “Friends, the biggest message that emerges from all these events being organized in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is that all of us countrymen should follow our duty with full devotion. Only then will we be able to fulfil the dream of those countless freedom fighters… and to build India of their dreams. That is why this Amrit Kaal of our next 25 years is Kartavyakaal, a period of duty for every countryman.”

Netizens joined the movement to change Twitter profile to Tiranga

Following PM Modi’s call, netizens changed their profile photos to Tiranga.

The ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ movement

This is not the first time PM Modi has asked his fellow Indians to join him in a movement. Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi gave the slogan “Chowkidar Chor Hai”. In retaliation to the derogatory slogan calling PM Modi a thief, the whole concept was turned around by Bharatiya Janata Party, and PM Modi gave a call to the citizens of India to change their profile photo to a photo with a logo saying “Main Bhi Chowkidar”.

The call turned into a mass movement, and millions of social media users from India participated in it.

Gurugram: Aaqib Javed, Taslim and Sabir arrested for online liquor fraud and sextortion, Rs 25 lakhs seized in bank account

On Monday, the Gurugram Police arrested three persons for allegedly duping people under the pretext of providing home delivery of liquor in the city. The arrested three persons have been identified as Aaqib Javed, Taslim Khan, and Sabir Khan, all natives of Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

The information was made public by ACP Gurugram Preet Pal Singh Sangwan who also said that the three were involved in sextortion. “They were also involved in sextortion. The accused used to contact people by sending them online links following which the people were duped”, in said while addressing the press on August 1.

According to the reports, the gang led by the three arrested accused was exposed after one of the victims lodged an FIR against the gang members for duping the customers. The victim was duped for around Rs 1 lakhs. He filed a complaint at the cyber crime police station and said he had ordered Rs 11,717 worth of liquor online after receiving an online liquor service message on his phone.

He mentioned in the police complaint that the accused sent him another link that asked him to pay a service charge of Rs 10. On clicking, Rs 93,380 were debited from the victim’s account and he was duped for a total of Rs 1,05,097. The Police further revealed that the accused had duped people in several other ways.

“The accused were involved in many other frauds where they had cheated people on the pretext of buying and selling vehicles online. They were also into sextortion”, ACP Singh said adding that the accused would video call people and ask them to do pornographic acts. Later the accused used these videos to blackmail the customers for money.

He went on to say that while Aaqib and Taslim Khan used to contact individuals by giving them internet links and calls over various mediums like SMS, WhatsApp, and so on, Sabir Khan used to supply bank accounts and SIM cards with bogus KYC. The suspects used to withdraw cash from ATMs and POS machines after getting the money in their accounts.

After investigating their bank accounts, which have now been seized, the police discovered that they had scammed others to the tune of Rs 25 lakh in the previous 15 days.
