AAP MLA takes credit for completing ‘long pending’ Railway Underbridge in Punjab, Railway fact checks saying it was already completed last year

Aam Aadmi Party led governments have the habit of claiming credits for works done by the Central govt. After Arvind Kejriwal govt in Delhi doing so several times in past, now the newly formed AAP govt in Punjab also started to do the same. Today the party was caught claiming credit for work by the Indian Railways, as the official Twitter handle of Northern Railway refuted such a claimed by an AAP MLA, who claimed to have completed a ‘long pending’ Railway Underbridge project.

Yesterday, AAP MLA Charanjit Singh had posted a Tweet claiming that the Bhagwant Mann government completed a long pending railway underbridge project which was moving at snail’s pace during the previous govt. The MLA from Shri Chamkaur Sahib claimed that the construction of railway underbridge in Morinda was moving at a snail’s pave for more than 2.5 years, and Bhagwant Mann government completed it in less than 3 months.

He informed that after the completion of the project, he and minister Harbhajan Singh ETO inaugurated the underbridge yesterday, and posted photos of the same. Singh also added that in March he had promised to complete the project by June 30, and they delivered it before that date.

However, the claims of the AAP MLA have turned to be completely misleading, as the underbridge was completed by the Indian Railways long ago. The Northern Railway zone informed that the work on railway underbridge was already completed by December 2021, months before AAP govt came to power in Punjab.

The Railway zone further added that the completed underbridge could not be used because the approach road was not completed, which was the responsibility of the state govt. They said that the work was pending on account of state govt, not due to Railways.

Therefore, it is clear that the underbridge was completed by December 2021 itself, and it has not been completed now by the AAP govt as claimed by Charanjit Singh. However, it is true that they have now completed the construction of the approach road, which is responsibility of the state govt, and which was delayed during the previous Congress government.

The railway underbridge at Morinda, constructed at the cost of Rs 22 crore, was inaugurated by Public Works and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO along with Chamkaur Sahib MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh on June 1. The project was executed on a 50:50 cost sharing basis between Railway and Punjab Government.

During the inauguration, the PWD minister had informed that Railway Under Bridge box portion has been constructed by Railway, while the approach road along with service road on both the sides of RUB has been constructed by Punjab PWD. While the approach road has been completed, the service road is still under construction.

Canadian military women face greater risk from peers than enemy: 400-page Arbour Report exposes ‘culture’ of sexual harassment in armed forces

On May 30, a 400-paged report widely known as the ‘Arbour report’ on the sexual violence in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) revealed that the Canadian military women face greater risk from their peers than their enemies. The report was released by former Supreme Court justice Louise Arbour in presence of Anita Anand, the minister of national defence in Ottawa on Monday.

Arbour in the report mentioned that the risk of harm faced by the Canadian military women in the CAF is on the day to day basis and that this culture must change. “When thinking about culture change in response to the sexual misconduct crisis, the CAF leadership seems to have been incapable of examining which aspects of its culture have been the most deficient. One of the dangers of the model under which the CAF continues to operate is the high likelihood that some of its members are more at risk of harm, on a day-to-day basis, from their comrades than from the enemy”, she was quoted.

The former Supreme Court justice was assigned a task last year to investigate the claims of sexual misconduct and military harassment against women in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Highlighting the severity of the issue, Arbour issued the document recommending 48 directions to change the culture of sexual misconduct inside the military.

The document, that was submitted to Canada’s Defense Minister Anita Anand also included recommendations about subjects including the military justice system, definitions of sexual misconduct, as well as military colleges. Arbour emphasized many failures of the military over the years to address misogyny, discrimination, sexual violence, and trauma experienced by the female members of the military.

“The handling of sexual offences by a military court in the past 20 years has done very little to improve efficiency, discipline, and morale … therefore, I see no basis for the Canadian Armed Forces to retain any jurisdiction over sexual offenses”, she was quoted.

17 recommendations to be implemented immediately, the rest after analysis and planning

Anand meanwhile welcomed and accepted the recommendations provided by the former Supreme Court justice and ordered immediate implementation of 17 of them. “The rest”, she said, “would be implemented after further analysis and planning”. She said that it was important to review the military justice system and that she would consult provincial and territorial authorities. While an external monitor would be appointed to oversee the implementation of the recommendations, Anand said that the progress regarding the same will be reported to the Parliament by the government.

It is important to note that the study by the former Supreme Court Justice, Louise Arbour is a third-of-its-kind study commissioned to investigate the claims of sexual misconduct in the Canadian military. Several of Canada’s top military officers have been accused of sexual harassment for the past two decades, including the Canadian army commander being the latest pick. In the year 2021, the Canadian Military postponed the appointment of its next army commander, Lt Gen Trevor Cadieu after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced against him.

Also, in the year 1992, Navy veteran Dawn McIlmoyle, aged 19 back then was brutally raped by a fellow sailor in presence of another man who allegedly enjoyed the incident. “When I came forward, they charged me under the National Defence Act for being on the male floor, which I was taken to,” McIlmoyle was quoted. The victim formally left the army in the year 1993.

Interestingly, a similar report authored by retired Supreme Court justice Marie Deschamps was released in the year 2015 in the name to review the sexual misconduct and sexual harassment in the Canadian Armed Forces. The report highlighted that Canada’s military had an underlying sexualized culture that was hostile to women and lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, and queer members. “Cultural change is therefore key. It is not enough to simply revise policies or to repeat the mantra of zero tolerance”, the report read.

Reports mention that about a quarter of Canadian military women say that they have been sexually assaulted during their military careers. Also, the government has set aside nearly USD 800 million to settle class-action lawsuits by current and former military members involving sexual misconduct.

New video of Bharat Solanki’s wife assaulting woman, who had an affair with him, surfaces, Congress maintains studious silence: Watch

The ongoing marital feud between the former cabinet minister and senior Gujarat Congress leader Bharat Solanki and his estranged wife Reshma Patel has been making headlines after a video surfaced on June 1, wherein Reshma Patel was seen creating a ruckus after she caught her husband red-handed with another girl in his bungalow in Anand. In the video that went viral, Reshma Patel was seen getting into a scuffle with the girl, reportedly with whom the Congress leader is in an extra-marital relationship.

Now, another video has surfaced where Reshma Patel, in a fit of rage, can be seen mercilessly pulling her husband’s alleged girlfriend’s hair and flinging her from one corner of the room to another. This video seems to be a continuation of the same video that went viral yesterday.

The Twitter user going by the handle @jimmyvyas shared four snippets from the video that went viral yesterday. Reshma Patel was seen tugging the girl’s hair and screaming at her angrily in the last snippet he provided, which did not appear yesterday.

The latter tries to hide her face and save herself from Reshma Patel who continues to assault her. A man wearing a white shirt and blue jeans tries to take the girl’s hand away from her face so that she can be filmed, but the girl continues to hide her face as someone on the other side continues to assault her.

The Congress party, which seems to be trying to market itself as the messiah for women, has neither spoken up for the rights of Reshma nor the girl who is being mercilessly assaulted. The party has maintained studious silence on the incident.

Video of the Congress leader Bharat Solanki, his wife, and his alleged girlfriend’s scuffle goes viral

In parts of the video that went viral yesterday, Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki was reportedly at his bungalow in Anand when Reshma Patel reached the house. When Resha entered the house, she found that an girl was present in the house. Reshma Patel got into a scuffle with her and created a ruckus. The entire incident was captured on camera. The viral video is said to have been shot by one of the people who came with Reshma Patel. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the person seen in the viral video is Bharatsinh Solanki.

In the video, it is seen that as soon as Reshma Patel opens the door and enters the house, Bharatsinh Solanki comes running and stops Reshma Patel and asks to call the police. However, Reshma Patel and the people accompanying her enter the house and Reshma Patel catches hold of the girl and starts beating her and pulling her hair. However, in the meantime, Bharatsinh Solanki appears to be stopping them.

In the video, ‘You are sitting with my husband… I won’t leave you…’ and more sentences like ‘Take the video of this’ and ‘Show your face’ are heard. Meanwhile, the girl is seen trying to hide her face.

There has been no reaction from Bharatsinh Solanki or the Gujarat Congress on the matter so far. Also, OpIndia can not confirm that the viral video is from Solanki’s house.

There has been a dispute between Bharatsinh Solanki and his wife Reshma Patel for a long time. Earlier both Reshma Patel and Bharatsinh Solanki had also issued public notices to each other. Reshma Patel alleged that she was being tortured as well as expelled from the house. It was also alleged that Bharatsinh Solanki was misbehaving with her and forcing her to divorce by misusing his political position.

In response to Reshma Patel’s notice, Bharatsinh Solanki also issued a notice saying that he has not been living with Reshma Patel for the last four years and that no one should use his name and identity to make financial transactions with his wife, and if anyone does, he (Bharatsinh Solanki) will not be responsible for any loss. After this Reshma Patel complained about the matter to Rahul Gandhi this year.

West Bengal: BJP MP Saumitra Khan writes to Amit Shah, seeks inquiry on the irregularities in the auditorium where singer KK performed last

As the postmortem report of the late singer Krishnakumar Kunnath famously known as KK confirms cardiac arrest as the prime reason for his death on 31st May 2022 after a concert in Kolkata, Saumitra Khan, a Bharatiya Janata Party MP from West Bengal has written a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit shah on 2nd June 2022.

In this letter, the BJP MP has sought an inquiry on the irregularities in the Nazrul Mancha auditorium where the late singer KK performed for the last time.

It is notable that a doctor who performed the postmortem of the late singer has said while talking to PTI, ” If CPR had been given to him immediately, he could have been saved.” Saumitra Khan, in his letter, has pointed out the irregularities at the venue of this concert held in Kolkata and asked the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for an inquiry in this regard.

Saumitra Khan wrote in his letter. “I want to inform you with sadness that Krishnakumar Kunnath Ji (K.K.) had come to our Kolkata-based Nazrul Mancha for a concert where he was visibly uncomfortable even during the program and after a while, we all came to know that an invaluable star of the Hindi music industry, who was dear to all of us, Krishnakumar Kunnath Ji was no more. Hon’ble Minister, there are many questions and many doubts about this incident in the minds of many people in the country including me.”

Saumitra Khan enlisted his questions in his letter that reads, “The Nazrul Mancha had a capacity of only 3000 people. Then how did around 7000 people get there? Were there any police officials on the spot or not? Did the organizers of the event give any information in the respective outpost for the concert? What report was submitted by the executive engineer of Nazrul Mancha and where is that report? What were Trinamool Congress members doing in the hospital when he was taken there for postmortem? Why were our leader Suvendu Adhikari Ji and others not allowed to come to the hospital? Who gave the permissions for this program when AC on the venue was not working?”

Saumitra Khan concluded his letter with a demand for an investigation. He wrote, “I would like to request you, Hon’ble Minister, that this matter should be investigated by the Central Investigation Agency and justice should be given to Mr Krishnakumar Kunnath.” BJP MP Saumitra Khan represents the Bishnupur constituency in Lok Sabha.

A day after the tragic and sudden death of famous singer Krishnakumar Kunnath alias KK, information regarding an existing health issue has been revealed. KK’s post-mortem report has reportedly said that the singer had multiple arterial blockages. The officials have said that KK had 80% blockage in the left main coronary artery and small blockages in various other arteries and sub-arteries. He could have been saved if CPR was administered.

KK had arrived in Kolkata for two of his live concerts in West Bengal. The auditorium of the college where the second concert took place on 31st May 2022 was full beyond capacity, which led to a lot of heat and suffocation. KK was also seen wiping his sweat several times, as well as complaining that the AC did not work. After this concert, his health started deteriorating. In the hotel, he suddenly fell unconscious. KK was then taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Sidhu Moose Wala murder: Punjab govt to restore security of 424 persons after High Court lambasted it for withdrawal and leak of list

In a major blow to the Aam Aadmi Party, the party’s Punjab government has forced to reverse its decision to withdraw security of 424 persons. The Bhagwant Mann government today informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the security will be restored from June 7. A day after the security was withdrawn, singer Sidhu Mose Wala, one of the protecetees, was shot dead on May 29, which had triggered a massive outrage against the AAP govt.

The decision came after the High Court for the decision to withdraw the security without proper threat assessment, and the subsequent ‘leak’ of the 424 names on social media. On May 31, the High Court had asked the Punjab Government to submit a report explaining the basis on which the security threat of a protectee in the State is assessed. The court had also express displeasure over the list being made public, and asked the govt to reply how the report of security withdrawal appeared in public domain.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had issued this order while hearing a petition filed by Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Om Parkash Soni, who had challenged the state govt’s decision to withdraw the “Z” category security provided to him. Soni had filed the plea May 11, weeks before the Moose Wala murder, as the state govt had already informed about the decision to de-categorise him from “Z” category.

In the petition, Soni had said that the Punjab govt has withdrawn security from former ministers and MLAs on ‘pick and choose basis’, not on the basis of actual threat perception.

The Punjab government submitted its reply to the court’s notice today. While the reply has been submitted in a sealed cover, the govt informed the court that a decision has been taken to restore the security from June.

As per reports, the Punjab govt has given bizarre reason for withdrawing the security, as it said that the security was withdrawn only on a temporary basis for Operation Blue Star anniversary on June 6. Replying to court’s query on why security was withdrawn, the Punjab government said it needed the security personnel for Operation Bluestar’s anniversary on June 6.

However, the notification informing about the withdrawal of security had no mention that it was a temporary move, and it was clear that the security was withdrawn permanently. The order had said that the security cover of the mentioned protectees have been withdrawn immediately and the cops were ordered to Spl DGP on at 10 AM on 28th May.

While everyone is reporting that the list was ‘leaked’, the fact is that it was not leak, but the AAP leaders had proudly published it. The decision to withdraw security was proudly announced by the AAP, terming it as end of VVIP culture. Several AAP leaders and supporters of AAP had posted the list on social media, partially or fully, to announce how the govt is ending VVIP culture and saving crores of money ‘wasted’ on security.

Another Hindu exodus in Kashmir? Hindu govt employees decide to leave the valley en masse after Islamic terrorists start targeted killing of Hindus

With fear gripping the valley due to increased targeted killings of Hindus, the minority government employees have decided to leave Kashmir en masse on Friday (June 3), giving rise to fears that another exodus, like the one in 1990 is ongoing. The decision came soon after Islamic terrorists shot dead a Hindu bank manager in Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday.

According to reports, over 4,000 Pandit employees have made their intention to leave the Valley clear. They have resolved to mass migrate from numerous transit camps strewn over the Valley, as announced by their leaders.

Several videos have surfaced on social media showing terrified Hindus preparing to leave the valley.

Amit Raina, the coordinator of the protesting employees, said that the employees living at various transit camps guarded by security personnel have called off the protest and decided to leave for Jammu.

The decision was reportedly taken after the Kashmiri Minority Forum, an organisation of Kashmiri Hindus, issued statements asking minorities in the Valley to migrate by Friday morning. According to Republic TV, the organisation had called for an emergency meeting after the killing of a bank employee Vijay Kumar.

The report suggests that the minority forum stressed three points during the emergency meeting. Firstly, they stated, “The protests across all the places in the Kashmir valley have been called off with immediate effect because the lives of the minorities here are falling down to the bullets of the perpetrators ruthlessly every day.”

Furthermore, they said, “Decision has been taken that all the minority people have been left with no option here and must migrate outside the valley tomorrow morning.”

Lastly, the organisation urged all protestors to gather on Friday outside the Navyug Tunnel to plan their next course of action about their fate and lives.

Meanwhile, The Tribune quoted Avtar Krishan Bhat, a leader of the Hindu Kashmiri Pandit colony in Baramulla, as saying, “We have kept trucks on standby as we might have to leave anytime. The targeted killings have shocked us and we want the government to relocate us immediately.”

It may be noted that the decision to leave the valley has been deliberated by the recent increase of the targeted killing of Kashmiri Hindus especially including were employed under PM Package by Islamic terrorists in the valley. Earlier in the day, OpIndia reported how Islamic terrorists shot dead a bank employee named Vijay Kumar. The deceased Vijay Kumar, who hailed from Hanamangarh in Rajasthan, was the Bank Manager of Elaqahi Dehati Bank. Kumar was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital after he was fired upon by the terrorists at the Arreh Mohanpora Branch in the Kulgam district, where he succumbed to his injuries.

This is the fourth such terrorist incident in the last two months where a Hindu has been targeted by Islamic terrorists in the valley.

Pertinently, due to the recent spate of attacks on Hindu migrants in the valley, only yesterday (June 1), the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor chaired a key meeting wherein he suggested that PM Package employees and others who belong to minority communities posted in the Kashmir division will be posted at secured locations. LG had set June 6, 2022, as the deadline for the process of transferring the vulnerable employees. Kashmir being a Muslim majority region, minorities in the region include Hindus, Sikhs and other non-Muslim communities.

Delhi High Court sends notice to St Stephen’s college over admissions into unreserved seats, DU had mandated admission based on CUET

On Wednesday, The Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Delhi University and St Stephen’s College regarding a recent controversy relating to undergraduate admissions. This came after a PIL was filed against the college over its decision to continue the admission process for filling its general category seats through interviews – contrary to the mandate by DU from this year.

As per an Indian Express report, the petition in the Delhi High Court demanded that the college should follow the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) exam to admit students to its unreserved seats for undergraduate courses in the college. The Minority institution has drawn daggers with the University Grants Commission which mandated that Undergraduate admissions from the coming academic session be conducted only on the basis of a common entrance state called the Common University Entrance Test or CUET. However, St Stephen’s College in New Delhi decided to continue taking the traditional admission process through interviews.

Last month, the college announced that it would give 85% weightage to the CUET score and 15% to the interview for unreserved category admissions. The division bench of the Delhi HC consisting of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Sachin Datta has issued notice to St Stephen’s college, the DU and the University Grants Commission, asking the respondents to respond within four weeks. The court has listed the matter for the hearing on July 6.

The Petition against St Stephen’s

It all started when Kanika Poddar, a law student from DU challenged St Stephen’s college’s decision to conduct admissions through interviews. She was represented by Senior advocate Arun Bhardwaj in the court. The PIL filed through advocate Akash Vajpai stated that the interview process initiated by the college was against the admission policy of Delhi University.

Poddar argued that the admission process beyond the CEUT violates the mandate of the college’s own Academic and Executive council. The petition argues that while earlier the students were under huge stress to score marks as high as 95% in grade XII to get admitted to St Stephen’s, the introduction of CUET has eased the process for them.

The Petition further argues that DU rules are binding upon St Stephen’s college too, despite it being a minority institution. For its minority character, the institute cannot “disregard merit or merit-based selection of students,” the petition read.

The petition further made a case that the process through CEUT is validated by the National Education Policy, and “it has clearly elucidated that entrance to higher education should be through common entrance test at the national level so that there is a uniform standard of benchmarking of candidates,” the petition argued.

Why St Stephen’s is conducting interviews for unreserved seats?

On April 5, the Delhi University issued a change in its admission policy starting from the academic year 2022-23, which stated that admission to the unreserved seats, including those in the six minority colleges under its jurisprudence will be done only on the basis of marks obtained in CEUT. The Minority Institutions, however, were allowed to conduct interview-based admissions for reserved seats giving only 15 per cent weightage to the process.

The rest 85 per cent of the weightage of the admission process was be rested upon the centralised CUET score at the time of admission. However, St Stephen’s is not ready to abide by the new circular of the DU and has gone ahead to conduct interviews for filling its unreserved seats as well. It should be noted that in DU’s minority institutions like St Stephen’s, Jesus and Mary College, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College etc, 50% of the total seats are reserved for girl students or students belonging to any of the ‘minority’ religions in India.

The rule of centralised admission through CEUT has become a challenge before the college as it followed its own rules of admissions being a minority institute. There have been rounds of meetings between the college management and the DU authorities which have failed to solve the situation through dialogue amicably.

Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh had also sought legal opinion on the issue to understand the extent to which the provisions for specialised admissions in minority institutions are applicable. Meanwhile, the college is in no mood to budge according to the new process.

St Stephen’s college is adamant on taking interviews of all applicants who have been shortlisted by the College under the CUET list as per the college’s admission criteria. “The admission process is time-tested, proven and guaranteed through a landmark judgement delivered by the highest court of the land – that will be followed for admission to College,” the college opined.

TMC leader Anubrata Mondal interrogated by CBI in a case related to post-poll violence in West Bengal: Details

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) began interrogating Trinamool Congress (TMC) Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal today as part of its inquiry into episodes of violence in West Bengal following assembly elections last year. According to reports, Mondal arrived in Kolkata yesterday night and headed to the CBI office this morning.

Mondal had requested 15 days to appear before the CBI for interrogation, citing doctors’ prescriptions for complete rest. He did, though, appear before the investigating agency’s officials on the tenth day after filing his request.

It should be noted that Mondal was previously interrogated in connection with a cattle smuggling case. Mondal returned to his hometown of Bolpur in Birbhum district on May 21 after staying for one-and-a-half months in Kolkata to testify before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for an investigation into the cattle smuggling case.

It was during his stay at his residence that he was admitted to the state-run SSKM hospital around 2 weeks ahead of appearing before the CBI.

Informing about the present investigation, a senior officer of the agency aware of the matter said, “He is being questioned in connection with incidents of post-poll violence in the state.”

According to sources, Anubrata Mondal has been called multiple times by the CBI in cases of cattle smuggling and post-poll violence, but he never showed up to the agency until recently.

Post-poll violence in West Bengal

Following the Assembly elections in May 2021, West Bengal saw unprecedented unrest and bloodshed. During the Trinamool Congress-sponsored carnage, numerous BJP activists were assaulted, intimidated, and killed. Party goons attacked BJP members across the state after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) won the West Bengal Vidhan Sabha elections, party goons attacked BJP members across the state.

TMC hoodlums targeted BJP volunteers and leaders on a routine basis, not just after the results of the 2021 assembly election, but also before and throughout the run-up to the 2019 national elections. Throwing petrol bombs, attacking people, and even deaths have become the norm in West Bengal under the TMC’s rule.

Delhi HC refuses to stay Delhi Police’s decision to declare AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan as a ‘BC’, asks police to respond to Khan’s plea

The Delhi High Court, Wednesday, refused to provide interim relief to AAP leader Amanatullah Khan who had filed a petition challenging a Delhi police order declaring him a ‘history sheeter’ and a ‘bad character’ (BC) of the Jamia Nagar area due to the large number of crimes he was accused of. The High Court bench of Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain declined to stay the decision taken by the Delhi police, however the court asked the police to respond to AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s petition.

“It is already subjudice. I don’t think they will act on it. It requires consideration. I admit your petition…Let a status report be filed,” the high court judge Sudhir Kumar Jain said while listing the matter for further hearing on July 28.

In his plea filed in the Delhi High Court, the AAP MLA for the Okhla constituency had asked for the ‘History Sheet’ opened against him by the Delhi police to be quashed, as well as the proposal proclaiming him a ‘Bad Character.’ He has also attempted to get his name removed from the Surveillance Register, which was put to keep close watch on his activities.

During the hearing, Amanatullah Khan’s lawyer, M Sufian Siddiqui, sought the high court to grant an interim restraining order, instructing the police not to “act upon” the decision. Siddiqui contended in court that the decision to label the AAP MLA a “bad character” was made without any application of the mind by the DCP in question and that no speaking order was issued.

He further claimed malfeasance in the case, stating that the Delhi police leaked its decision to the media instead of contacting him, which is said was in contravention of the laws and regulations which mandate it to be kept confidential.

“It’s a classic case of flagrant abuse of the legal process by the Delhi Police,” Khan’s plea stated.

The court, however, declined to interfere in the decision taken by the Delhi police. It further issued a notice to the Delhi police asking them to respond to AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s petition.

SHO Jamia Nagar had prepared a dossier on March 28 proposing the opening of a “history sheet” against Khan and labelling him a “Bad Character” as he had been previously involved in 18 cases. On March 29 and 30, the ACP, New Friends Colony, and the DCP, South-East, respectively, approved the decision.

“He started his business at Jamia Nagar and soon formed a group consisting of persons from his village and his neighbouring villages and indulged in land grabbing and illegal constructions…. Most of the cases registered against him are related to intimidation, threatening, hurt, riots, causing hindrance to duties of public servants and causing enmities between two groups and communities,” the document prepared by the Jamia Nagar police station read.

Delhi police had said that based on these aforementioned involvements of Amanatullah Khan, they are proposing the APP leader’s name as a “bad character” of the area so that his activities could be kept under surveillance.

Notably, the Delhi police statement came a day after the AAP leader was arrested on May 12 for creating a ruckus and causing a hindrance to the anti-encroachment drive that was being carried out at Madanpur Khadar in Delhi. The next day, the controversial AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was granted bail by the Saket court after he was arrested by the Delhi Police and sent to judicial custody for protesting and instigating locals against the anti-encroachment drive in Madanpur Khadar. The AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was also booked for obstructing the demolition drive in Shaheen Bagh earlier that week.

Vadodara woman to marry herself because she loves herself, read about the rising global trend of ‘Sologamy’

In a bizarre incident, a 24-year-old girl named Kshama Bindu in Gujarat’s Vadodara has decided to marry on June 11, with everything in place except a groom. Because, she will be marrying herself. The girl has penned down five vows for the wedding with herself which will be solemnized at a temple in Gotri.

According to the reports, the wedding that is scheduled to take place on June 11, will be performed in the traditional manner including the rituals of pheras, sindoor, and others. The only thing that will not be seen at the wedding will be the groom and his big fat ‘baraat’.

Explaining her thoughts behind this first-of-its-kind wedding, soon-to-be bride Kshama said that she never wanted to get married but always wanted to become a bride. She said that her parents are open-minded and that they accepted her with her unique wedding plans. “I never wanted to get married. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself”, she was quoted. Kshama said that she also researched to find out whether any woman in the past had married herself out of self-love, but there were no results. “Maybe I am the first to set an example of self-love in our country”, she added.

“Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. It’s also an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence this wedding,” explained Kshama. Realizing that some people in the community or even outside the community might think that marriages like these are irrelevant, she said that her objective behind marrying herself is to portray the importance of self-love and that every woman matters.
