‘Sant’ Rampal devotees peddle crazy claims, say Chhat Puja celebrations are against scriptures, Gita prohibits fasts: Details

0

Devotees of ‘Sant’ Rampal have declared on social media that Chhat Puja celebrations are against scriptures and that the Bhagavad Gita prohibits fasts. Rampal, who calls himself Sant Rampal ji Maharaj, is currently serving a life term in prison on charges related to the murder of four women.

Rampal’s devotees claim that Chhat Puja is a “Sadhna against scripture” and that it is an “arbitrary practice” against the same. They have also relied on bizarre claims about the Gita to peddle their crazy claims about Chhat Puja.

They claim that the shloka 16 from the 6th adhyay of the Bhagavad Gita says that fasting ensures that a person’s Bhakti is futile.

Some have also gone to the extent of asserting that Chhat Puja is against the Bhagavad Gita. According to them, only worshiping ‘supreme god’ Kabir is useful.

Who is Sant Rampal ji Maharaj?

According to Rampalians, Kabir is the real Allah and Rampal is the last prophet. Prophets are individuals sent by God to serve as examples of ideal human behaviour. Of these, Prophet Muhammad is widely believed to be the last prophet of Islam. Muslims believe their holy book, Quran was revealed to him directly by god.

Rampal’s website states that Muslims believe in Quran Sharif as narrated by ‘Kaazis and Mullahs’ for ages. Rampal states that Muslims do not understand the Quran properly. Rampal says that Allah is actually Kabir, who is the ‘complete God’. He cites various Ayats wherein it is ‘proven’ that Allah is none other than Kabir. In fact, the ‘Allah’ in Allahu Akbar is none other than Kabir, he states.

As Prophet Muhammad was a ‘pious man’, Allah Kabir showed him the ‘Satlok’, Rampal says. Allah Kabir also met Taimur Lang, founder of Mughal dynasty and ‘blessed him’ because of which he became a ‘great conquerer’ from a poor shepherd. Rampal also states how Allah Kabir blessed Sikander Lodhi after he suffered burn injuries. Upon healing, Lodhi became an Allah Kabir follower as only he was worthy of worship, he says.

Madhya Pradesh: NCPCR writes to police seeking report in case where a tilak-wearing boy was assaulted by teacher Nishaad Begum

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has written to the Raisen Police officer in Madhya Pradesh, seeking probe report in connection with the case where a teacher named Nishaad Begum had thrashed a minor boy for sporting a tilak earlier this year. The Statutory body had asked the police to take cognisance of the victim and his family’s statement and submit a report within 2 days of receiving the letter.

The Chairman of the Commission had visited the district to take stock of the child welfare activities in the region. During his visit, the Chairman of the Commission met the victim Pawan Sen, who was assaulted by some people on the direction of his teacher after he sported a tilak to school.

The Commission, in its letter, said the family of the victim was not satisfied with the investigation in the matter and have alleged that officers who are probing the matter have not contacted them or the victim. The letter further mentions that statement of the victim has been recorded at the direction of the Commission’s Chairman and in presence of SDM, Tehsildar, Chairman of the Child welfare committee and police officers.

The Commission has directed the police to take cognisance of the victim’s statement and ensure that necessary action is taken in this regard. It also pulled up the police for not sharing the inquiry report after a letter was written by the statutory body to the Raisen district officer in September 2021. NCPCR has further asked the police to make the inquiry report as well as the statement of the child available to the Commission within 2 days of receipt of the letter.

NCPCR writes a letter asking Raisen district officer to carry out probe and submit report in the case of young boy beaten up for sporting a tilak

Earlier in September 2021, NCPCR had written to the Raisen district officer to carry out a probe in a deplorable incident where a school teacher named Nishaad Begum has been accused of getting a minor boy beaten up for sporting a Tilak to school.

Taking cognisance of the case in accordance with provision 31(1)(J) of the CPCR Act 2005, NCPCR had then granted 7 days to the district officer to carry out the probe and submit its report on the same before the statutory body.

In the letter dated September 18, 2021, the statutory body informed that the father of the victim has alleged that his son’s class teacher got his son beaten up by outsiders for merely wearing Tilak to school. Apprising the Raisen district officer about the case, NCPCR has sought various documents, like the proof of age and the medical reports of the victim, from the officer.

Nishaad Begum reportedly unleashes goons on Pawan Sen for wearing a tilak on his forehead

Pawan Sen, a student of class 8 studying in Government Primary school in Gairatganj Tehsil in Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh was assaulted by some people, who did not belong to the school, on the instructions of his teacher named Nishaad Begum. The teacher was reportedly irked by the fact that the student wore a Tilak to school.

A video of the injured boy recuperating in the hospital after being assaulted had gone viral on social media then. In the video, the boy was heard telling the media person that he visits a temple every day before going to school where the priest applies a tilak on his forehead.

Pawan Sen further revealed that when he went to school three days ago sporting a tilak, his teacher, whom he identified as Nishaad ma’am, warned him against wearing the same to school. She threatened Pawan that she would either hit him or get him beaten up if he continues to wear a tilak to her class.

Pawan added that the day the incident took place, he, as usual, went to school wearing the tilak. The agitated teacher then got him beaten up by some people, revealed the minor boy.

Veteran archaeologist BB Lal felicitated with the Padma Vibhushan. Here is his contribution to the Ram Janmabhoomi verdict

On Tuesday (November 9), President Ramnath Kovind felicitated Professor Braj Basi Lal (commonly referred as BB Lal) with Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award. The centenarian was named among the list of awardees earlier in January this year.

In visuals shared by Press Information Bureau (PIB), the President of India handed over the award to the wheelchair-bound archaeologist. Many remember Professor BB Lal for excavating the Ramjanmabhoomi site and unearthing the existence of a temple of Lord Ram beneath the Babri structure at Ayodhya.

The veteran archaeologist had led a project named Archaeology of Ramayana between 1975 and 1976 to examine certain sites having references in Ramayana. There were nine members in the team out of which five archaeologists namely, Professor Lal, Dr KP Nautiyal, SK Srivastava, RK Chaturvedi and KM Asthana were from Jiwaji University, three members namely, Mahdava N Katii, LM Wahal and MS Mani were from the ASI and one member named Hem Raj was from the Department of Archaeology, Uttar Pradesh.

According to Professor Lal, a five-site excavation project was carried out at Ayodhya, Nandigram, Shringaverapur, Bharadwaj Ashram and Chitrakoot to date the sites associated with Ramayana. He said that while excavating the area immediately south of the Babri structure, he found pillar bases. He wrote a seven-page preliminary report about the discovery of pillar bases near the Babri structure. However, following the discovery, all technical facilities were withdrawn from the area and the project was halted.

It was not resumed despite repeated requests of Professor Lal and remained suspended for 10-12 years. The final report was never submitted but his preliminary report was published by the Indian Council of Historical Research in 1989 in its volume on Historicity of Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Excavations of remains of Hindus temples at Ayodhya

During the excavation carried out for the construction works for the temple in the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, the remains of Hindu stone sculptures, including a Shivling, broken-idols of Hindu deities, and carved pillars of Indic design were found near the site on Wednesday.

According to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, as the work for levelling of land and removal of the gangway in Shri Ramjanmabhumi Complex was resumed on Wednesday after the coronavirus lockdown, the workers at the site unearthed the remains of pillars adorned with old Hindu carvings, likely of a temple during the excavation.

The objects included various archaeological artefacts and stone pillars with carvings of flowers, Kalash, Aamalak, etc, said Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust. During the excavation, a 5 feet Shivaling, 7 carved pillars of Black touchstone, 6 carved pillars of red sandstone and broken idols of Hindu gods were also found. The trust said that the work is still continuing at a slow pace due to the restrictions.

The findings had vindicated the presence of Hindu temples beneath the overground structures, which was a bone of contention for decades and was later resolved by the Supreme Court of the country. The earlier ASI findings had stated that there were remains of an ancient temple beneath the site where the Babri Masjid was erected.

‘No transparency in Axis deal’: Former Spandana Sphoorty MD Padmaja Reddy drops bombshells. Read full text of the tell-all letter

A week after submitting her resignation, Padmaja Reddy, founder and former managing director of Spandana Sphoorty Financial, has penned a letter revealing murky details of her tussle with private equity investor Kedaara Capital over a proposal to sell the company to Axis Bank. Reddy has alleged that there was no transparency whatsoever in how the Axis deal was planned.

According to Reddy, Kedaara Capital was bent on selling the country’s second-largest micro-finance entity to Axis Bank at a throwaway price. “I opposed underselling of the company to Axis Bank at a throwaway price. While other MFIs were acquired at 4.75x and 3,5x BV multiples in the past few months, Kedaara wanted to sell Spandana at 1.6x, which is one-third of the other company’s valuation. They are hell-bent on selling the company for their personal benefits,” Reddy had said in a letter she had written to the employees last week.

Kedaara Capital offered lucrative monetary benefits to sway the Board in their favour, alleges former MD of Spandana Sphoorty

However, another letter written by Reddy that was shared this week brings to fore the circumstances that led to the resignation of the founder of Spandana Sphoorty Financial. Reddy says she had not in her wildest dreams imagined of resigning from an organisation she had started. She said an Investor she allowed in good faith backstabbed her and got his friends and friends’ friends on the company’s board to make her leave if she said no to any of the decisions. Reddy said she did not have the foggiest when Kedaara appointed the entire board and used it as a puppet to toe their line by providing them with monetary benefits.

She further alleged that Mr Sunish Sharma, representative of Kedaara Capital, used the lure of providing stock options to board members to sway them towards their side even though Reddy stoutly opposed doing so. The larger aim in appointing a favourable board and ingratiating them with stock options, Reddy alleges, was to get them beholden to them and eat them out of their hands. Kedaara also went to great lengths to have her removed from the company, she alleged.

“They had a clear road map to get me off whenever they wish to because as a promoter I will have my own view points in the interest of the company as I would not agree to anything that is against the interest of the company and its stakeholders. They wanted a CEO who is merely a yes-man and who can work for them without any long-term objective for the company. This is a lifetime lesson I learned and I urge all other entrepreneurs to beware of these wolfs in sheep’s clothing,” she added.

Exorbitant salary to the next CEO and extravagant renumeration given to top executives: Padmaja Reddy

Reddy also highlighted the alleged lack of defined process to ascertain the salary of the next CEO, saying the salary offered to the next incumbent is exorbitant event as the Microfinance industry is yet to fully recover from the pandemic-led stress. The former MD of the company also revealed the extravagant salaries drawn by executives for simply attending 5 to 6 hours on a zoom call once every three months. The letter says how some of the top executives on the Board were not even aware which company they were serving and the positions held by them.

In her letter, she has alleged that the new CEO has been hired at the CTC package of close to Rs 6.5 crores, which is equivalent to the salary drawn by the CEO of ICICI Bank. She said she used to draw Rs 3 crore a year along with a variable pay that was linked to company’s profit and had not had an increment in the last 13 years.

“I didn’t get even one rupee increment in the last thirteen years. I took 25% cut during CDR. I didn’t get a single stock option / sweat equity. All that I invested in the Company was my sweat and blood. Company Law does not allow Promoters to give stock options, yet there are various ways by which Promoters are benefitted. I didn’t have time to think of all these as I was always busy with work – either doing or thinking. Mr.Shalabh Saxena when he was negotiating his salary, he could increase his offer from Rs.3.5Cr to Rs.6.5Cr in three days. His CTC is just equal to that of ICICI Bank’s CEO,” she said.

The founder of Spandana Sphoorty said Kedaara Capital was willing to sell the company at below-par valuation because they were already making a profit of Rs 1,800 crore on an investment of just Rs 900 crore. She further added that those who were managing the deal would get 20 per cent from their deal with the Axis Bank while only 80 per cent would go to Limited Partners who invested in the fund.

“I grew the Book from 1,000Cr in Mar 2017 to 8,000Cr by Mar 21. I handed over the Company in a good shape and I have no confidence on Kedaara and the current management committee on how they would run the Company. I lost hopes on my shareholding in the Company,” she said while concluding the letter.

Letter written by Padmaja Reddy after her resignation

Below is the verbatim reproduction of the letter penned by Padmaja Reddy after resigning from Spandana Sphoorty:-

Dear All,

I apologize for not being able to respond to some of your calls in the last five days. I was in shock and needed some time to come out of it. This was not something I could have even imagined in a nightmare. In the last couple of weeks/months, I have seen and heard things that I wish I never would have. However, I have only started to realize how my grit and determination have been further strengthened by the whole series of events. Please feel free to call me if you have further questions after reading my lengthy mail.

I never thought that I would have to resign from my role as MD of Spandana against my choice. Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that an Investor, whom I allowed in a good faith basis to have all his friends and Friends’ friends on Board, would use the same Board as a tool to ask me to leave if I say NO to any of his decisions.

I created Spandana in 1998 at the age of 30 and I sacrificed all my life for this Organization. I was with the Organization even in the thickest of the crises. Spandana was the worst impacted MFI after AP crisis as it had highest portfolio in AP and the balance sheet was highly leveraged. The entire Industry felt that Spandana would be the first MFI to fall off the map. The net worth turned negative and at one point in time, it was negative 1200 Cr. I didn’t have the luxury of time to get multiple investors when we were exiting from CDR in Mar 2017, so that no single investor could have the majority stake. I could not think that the Investor comes with no emotions for the Organization and for them only short-term personal gains would matter. I never thought that he would have set up a trap from the day he made his investment in the Company. When Kedaara represented by Mr. Sunish Sharma had appointed the entire Board, I did not sense that this Board is going to be used as his puppet and they would fall for the monetary gains he can offer them.

Some of them are titled as Independent Directors and they worked with big Banks and RBI in the past, I was of the opinion that they will have their own conscience and a backbone . I only realized the true colors of the Board when they asked for stock options when Mr. Sunish Sharma updated them that he is exploring strategic opportunities. He cleverly escaped from that situation stating that he will have to discuss with me. This happened in a special meeting without me and I was updated by one of the so-called Independent Directors about all other Directors asking for Stock options. I resisted this idea of giving stock options to them and Mr.Sunish Sharma used this opportunity to get the Board towards his side. They were not happy even after getting Rs. 20 Lakhs per annum sitting fees for connecting on Spanana’s zoom call for 5 to 6 hours on a zoom call once every three months. Some of these retired people, derive pension from the Government, get very high commission from private Equity funds for working as Operating partners and still draw sitting fees from the Board these PE funds invest in. Ofcourse they got lakhs of stock options from other Kedaara investee Companies where there is no promoter to resist and they had similar expectation. It was unfortunate that some of them literally have no idea of which Board they are on and what position they hold.

In-fact, I literally had to tell Spandana’s Chairman that he is not the Chairman of Criss Financial Limited (subsidiary of Spandana) when he wrote me a mail stating that he needed some sort of clarification from me owing to his authority as Chairman of Criss Financial Limited. I was to write to him clarifying that he is not the Chairman of Criss Financial. The Board has been completely incapable of strategically guiding the company. Over the last two years since the pandemic, there was never a query from the board on what would be the credit costs and the impact of this credit cost on the net-worth. I am not saying this because they have not renewed my contract. I have discussed with Sunish Sharma no less than 100 times about the necessity of having a better board, which actually cares for the company and can add some sort of value and whose age permits to do so. However Mr.Sunish Sharma has managed to get 75% shareholders approval to reappoint them, as he badly needs people who have no backbone and would give in to all his whims and fancies.

When Sunish Sharma shared the offer letter from Spandana to Mr.Shalabh Saxena (current MD and CEO of Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited), I was shocked to see that he is given offer as CEO and MD. It was surprising to note that the offer letter was not even sent from the company but was rather prepared by Kedaara. While I met Mr.Shalabh Saxena and gave my consent to his appointment as CEO, to my surprise he was offered MD and CEO. When the offer was still to go, I heard about how Mr.Shalabh and Aashish managed to hide over dues by sanctioning loans with the loan amount equal to the over dues without even the Borrowers knowledge that a new loan is created on their name. By then it was not in public arena and it was yet to accepted by the Bank, I heard that there was a whistle blower who informed RBI. From my field staff, I got reports that they gave loans equal to the overdue amount and knowing that the Borrowers are not going to repay this loan which is created without their knowledge, they gave moratorium on principal and only interest is expected to be serviced. The ref check done by Kedaara also hinted about Shalab’s aggressive way of disbursing loans with no caution. I literally pleaded with Mr.Sunish Sharma that neither the board nor Kedaara is capable of guiding the new CEO and other Senior management (by then his involvement in the conspiracy was not public), they can’t ensure controlled and quality growth and I want to continue as MD with limited involvement in day to day affairs and that I would only guide the new CEO and other senior management staff.

I highlited in my conversations with Sunish Sharma that the Board is not capable of giving strategic direction to the Company and more particularly in the current environment (post Pandamic) as they don’t know the basics of micro finance. Other than Kartikeya Kaji (one of the four nominee directors of Kedaara), who visited a few Branches and Centre meetings in 2017 as part of Kedaara’s due diligence prior to investment in Spandana, none of the Board members had ever visited a village / Branch and have absolutely no idea of our borrowers and our frontline staff. I remember a conversation in which Mr.Sharma himself said he got Bharath Shah on to the board and Bharath Shah has requested him to accommodate two others (Mr.Deepak Vaidya and Mr.Jagdish Capoor). My eyes welled with tears whenever I tried to convince Sunish Sharama to renew my contract in the interest of the Company and the staff. I felt that I have a responsibility towards all the lenders. My only motivation to request, plead and beg Mr.Sunish Sharma for over a month’s time was to guide the incumbent CEO Mr.Shalabh Saxena and other senior management staff. I genuinely felt that Spandana needs me for few more years and felt that my 23 years of experience in Micro finance should not go to waste. His one and only objective in denying my request and managing the Board was to sell the Company. Kedaara invested in the Company at 400 Cr Pre-money value and Rs. 1,000 Cr post money value. They already realized Rs. 600 Cr in IPO. The price at which he agreed to sell the Company to Axis Bank, would have given Kedaara Rs. 1800 Cr profit on 900 Cr investment. I also got to know that these guys, who manage this investment would get 20% of the profit as their carry (commission / incentive) and only 80% is passed on to Limited Partners who invested in the fund. This transaction would have given them Rs. 360 Cr carry, which will be divided amongst three or four people.

When I said NO to Axis bank sale, they could not digest their personal loss to them. I was hell-bent on not selling Spandana to Axis Bank at such a low multiple. Four years back, BFIL was acquired by IndusInd at 4.75x BV Multiple and we are also aware of the two other transactions happened very recently in MF Industry. One of the foreign Banks acquired an NBFC (which has sizeable micro finance portfolio) at 4.75x BV and one of the Private Sector Banks invested in an MFI which has Rs.500Cr AUM at 3.5x BV multiple. The NBFC acquired by the foreign bank has made a loss of 1,600 Cr last year where as Spandana has made over 200Cr profit even in such dire circumstances. Despite Spandana being the highest profit making NBFC MFI and has grown book eight times in four years, Kedaara tried to undersell the company at 1.6 BV multiple as compared to 4.75 BV multiple commanded by the aforementioned transactions. I could not understand the reasons of why Kedaara was prepared to undersell. The reason stated by them was they are not bullish about Micro Finance and they are not happy with crisis after crisis every three years. When I resisted and told them clearly that I am not selling my stake and this transaction should not happen, they pretended to have agreed with me and said Yes. It is only after almost a month when I talked directly to the bank , I understood that they didn’t call off the deal and they started playing behind me. As they were talking to the bank, they were also laying the groundwork to push me out of the company. As they felt that I am an obstruction for their deal, they planned to move me out. While everybody was wondering on what knowhow and capability they have, to run Spandana, they were fearless as they do not want to run the Company and they just want to sell it. I thought that I was sincere, I work hard, I have great passion for my work and I have highest level of honesty and integrity, who would dare to ask me to leave?

It was shocking to read from Economic Times that Kedaara guys projected Mr.Shalabh Saxena as CEO in the offer document to Axis bank. I was completely oblivious to this fact as well. There was absolutely no transparency how this Axis deal was planned. They tried to completely keep me in the dark and dug graves behind me. I was not part of the call /meeting when they discussed about the valuation with the Axis Bank, though I am the Promoter, founder, 17% Shareholder and Managing Director.

I also want to take this opportunity to explain why I didn’t serve notice period and my leaving from the company and the date of resignation is same. As per my management contract, they have put a clause that they can remove me any day without even a day’s notice and I can also leave the Company without having to serve even a day’s notice period. Ofcourse I only asked them to insert the second clause when they were adamant on having the first clause. This clause was included in the management contract they drafted in 2017 March. They had a clear road map to get me off whenever they wish to because as a promoter I will have my own view points in the interest of the company as I would not agree to anything that is against the interest of the company and its stakeholders. They wanted a CEO who is merely a yes-man and who can work for them without any long-term objective for the company. This is a lifetime lesson I learned and I urge all other entrepreneurs to beware of these wolfs in sheep’s clothing.

Twenty four years back in 1998 at the age of 30, I created Spandana. I worked relentlessly for 80 to 90 hours every week since then. I never left office on the same day without date change. At times, I was surprised of my own commitment for the Company and I continued doing the same way during CDR time. Back then I had no hope that that the Company is going to survive, still I worked relentlessly to bring Spandana out of CDR. Thanks to Feroz and Vinay, who were always with me during my journey and who immensely contributed for the growth of Spandana. When few rumors were created on my non existence in the past, I travelled across length and breadth of Krishna Dist, visited each and every village, stayed for three month in Chhattisgarh and spent two moths in Salem to turnaround the situation. I cant imagine these guys managing such unfortunate situations.

I didn’t get even one rupee increment in the last thirteen years. His CTC is just equal to that of ICICI Bank’s CEO.

We all read in the news recently the speech of Deputy Governor Mr.Rao. He said that MFIS shall work with social objective. I concur with his views and I will request RBI to put some curbs on MFI CEOs CTC and Board of Directors Sitting fees. Don’t they need to have social objective??

Mr.Shalabh Saxena got 1.5% of the Company as stock options. This lured him to leave his current job as Kedaara projected that he can get Rs.140Cr in four years with 20% annual increase in stock price. However, he wouldn’t have to wait for four years, If the Company is sold and he will get all 9.5L options vested immediately. Mr. Saxena has a non-compete clause in his contract with IndusInd Bank. He can’t join competition as per the agreement he signed. However, Kedaara and the Board offered him the financial and legal support in case IndusInd Bank challenges legally upon joining Spanana. This was mentioned in the offer given to him. A copy of offer letter is annexed for your reference. Kedaara was willing to go out of their way, move mountains and award lopsided benefits to someone out of their sheer desperation to push me out of the company and get the Axis transaction done.

I apologize that I could not meet you in the last one month, as I was aware that I would have to leave the Company. When Mr. Sunish Sharma told me that he cant renew my contract to work as MD, I called for emergency Board Meeting. In the Board Meeting, the Board Chairman was given a script. He insisted upon Feroz (CSO) leaving the Board room. These guys never had issue with Feroz sitting in the Board room in the last four years. When I insisted that Feroz will be there in the meeting, the Chairman started board meeting with opening remarks pointing out at me “Your resignation is accepted, you are sacked and you get out of here” I swear on GOD, I did not resign by then and he could not share my resignation when I demanded him to share my resignation, he was speechless. They tried their level best to make me resign without them actually making a formal board decision on not renewing my contract. They wanted to kick me out and yet didn’t want to take the blame if things go sideways once I am pushed out. They instigated my own staff that I hired and filing of CFO’s and CSO’s resignation without the knowledge of us was one such act. They literally had people working with the Company Secretary – Ramesh Periasamy stalk us around the office. They ran a relentless campaign on Money Control to tarnish my name and assassinate my character. I had to wake up to ridiculous claims and comments about my work ethic and my charatacter on Money Control platform for almost a month. This was done with an objective to push me to resign and also to familiarize the market, staff, investors and the Industry over a period of time so that my exit won’t be a shock. Appointment and reappointment of MD and CEO is Board decision, here, Mr. Sunish Sharma decides and the Board merely follows his decisions.

I grew the Book from 1,000Cr in Mar 2017 to 8,000Cr by Mar 21. I handed over the Company in a good shape and I have no confidence on Kedaara and the current management committee on how they would run the Company. I lost hopes on my shareholding in the Company.

While I always feel obligated to all the lenders, I am in a helpless state and I can only hope that Spandana will find a committed and capable team to run the company. As a shareholder, Promoter and Founder of Spandana, I don’t want this Company to be managed by someone who has been found guilty of managing overdues and creating fake loans. I wish Spandana to reach greater heights.

I thank you all for the support extended to Spandana all times. Though I am leaving the Company with empty hands, I don’t feel bad about it as I carry your good wishes.

Thanks and best regards,

Padmaja Reddy

Mumbai Court dismisses complaint against Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli on grounds of legal defect: Details

0

The Metropolitan Magistrate of the 66th Court, Andheri, Mumbai has reportedly dismissed the complaint filed by advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh against actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel. The Court has dismissed the complaint filed by the advocate Ali Kasshif against the Ranaut sisters in the Tablighi Jamaat tweet case.

According to advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, Kangna Ranaut and sister Rangoli “have promoted enmity between different groups of religion and thereby caused disharmony between the members of it. Both accused have outraged, insulted, and incited the feelings of the Muslim community”.

The court rejected the complaint on the grounds that the complaint suffered a legal defect, that is, it did not have sanction from the competent government. The Court observed that the complaint is not sustainable without an appropriate sanction.

Magistrate Bhagawat T Zirape noted that under sections 153-A, 153-B, 295-A and Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code, sanction of the central government, state government, or district magistrate is a necessary requirement for further proceedings.

Magistrate Zirape said, as per an India Today report, “No such sanction is available on record. The complainant submitted that such sanction is necessary only in offences against the state, i.e. sections 121 to 130 of the Indian Penal Code. Offences punishable under sections 153-A, 153-B, 295-A and Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code are particularly mentioned in Section 196 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Therefore, I find no merit in the submission of the complaint.”

As per reports, advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh has now filed a criminal revision application at the Dindoshi sessions court against the order. The matter will come up before the sessions court on the 15th of November.

Last year, a Mumbai-based advocate, Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh had filed a police complaint against actress Kangana Ranaut for supporting the alleged hate speech of her sister, Rangoli Chandel. In his complaint, Kaashif alleged that while Rangoli advocated violence, Kangana herself had extended support. He had accused that the duo misused their influence, fame, and money to “promote hatred and disbalance” in the country for personal gain.

Ranaut had supported her sister Rangoli who was banned by Twitter after an angry tweet on ‘Mullahs’. She had responded to trolls and the Islamists who had spewed hate against her sister.

Congress-ruled Punjab govt ad shows how Congress-ruled Rajasthan govt has way more expensive fuel: All you need to know

On November 8, the newspapers in Punjab published a full-page advertorial of the Punjab Government announcing reduced fuel price and comparing the price with the neighbouring states. Interestingly, the four states that the ad listed had Rajasthan in it, ruled by none other than Congress.

Notably, on November 7, days after centre and BJP-NDA-ruled states slashed fuel prices, the Congress-ruled poll-bound Punjab government announced a drop in Value Added Tax (VAT). The fuel price in the state came drastically down compared to the old price and now stands at Rs. 95 per litre for petrol and Rs. 83.75 per litre for diesel. Notably, CM Charanjit Singh Channi had already reduced electricity prices for domestic users by Rs. 3 in the state.

The ad compared the price with Delhi, where the AAP-led government did not reduce VAT, and the price of petrol still stands at Rs.104.01, and diesel, it is 86.71 per litre. The price difference from BJP-ruled Haryana is merely 29 paisa for petrol and Rs. 2.78 for diesel.

However, what came as a shock in the ad was the price comparison with the neighbour state of Rajasthan. The Congress-rules Rajasthan has categorically refused to reduce VAT to provide additional relief to the people of Rajasthan after the centre reduced the excise duty. Because of the stubbornness of the Gehlot-led government, the price difference of fuel between two Congress-ruled states is astonishing.

Petrol stands at Rs.116.27 in Rajasthan after the reduction of excise duty that means Punjab is now selling petrol at Rs.21.27 cheaper than Rajasthan. The case is similar to diesel. The price of diesel in Rajasthan is Rs. 100.26, which means it is now Rs. 16.51 cheaper in Punjab.

Price difference leading to large-scale fuel smuggling

Furthermore, the price of fuel has always been lower in Punjab compared to Rajasthan. But the recent drop in excise duty by centre and VAT by the state government has increased the price gap exponentially. There have been reports of petrol and diesel being smuggled in Rajasthan from Punjab in the past, but from the last couple of days, it has become headlines across state media.

According to a report in Hindi Daily Dainik Jagran, farmers from Ganganagar, Rajasthan, have been visiting the neighbouring city Abohar in Punjab with drums to get cheap petrol and diesel. Due to the sowing season, the consumption of fuel increases in both Punjab and Rajasthan. Amidst the drop in fuel prices in Punjab, the farmers prefer to stand in long queues to get cheaper fuel.

Jagran published photos of farmers with 100-litre drums in their vehicles. Assuming one farmer is taking 300-litre diesel for his tractor from Punjab instead of Rajasthan, he is quickly saving around Rs. 4,000 during sowing season just by spending a couple of hours in the queue at the petrol pump. The situation is the same across Punjab and Rajasthan borders.

OpIndia reached out to a few petrol pump owners in Punjab that are located close to the Rajasthan border. Sanjeev Verma, Verma Sons (HP Petrol Pump), Gaushala Road, Abohar, said as his outlet is in the heart of the city, there is not much difference in the footfall of the customers. However, “the outlets that are on the Ganganagar road are experiencing a major jump in the number of customers,” he added.

Verma further added that the fuel price difference in Punjab and Rajasthan is behind major loss of tax revenue for Rajasthan as people often travel a few KMs and get their tanks filled from Petrol Pumps in Punjab.

We also had a conversation with Vikas Bishnoi, Secretary, Sri Ganganagar Petroleum Dealers Association, about the price difference between the two states. Bishnoi said, “There is nothing to talk about the price difference. It is more than Rs. 20 per litre. The petrol pumps in Rajasthan cannot survive with such price differences across states. It is a matter of just two months. We are already losing business. We won’t even have to close down the pumps as they will close down on their own due to lack of business.”

Promoting LGBT propaganda and gender politics among children: Why toxic western ideologies should not be imported to schools in India

The central premise of the campaign to decriminalize homosexuality in India was that it was not the Government’s business what two consenting adults did in their own bedroom. And there was a certain level of merit to that argument. Consequently, the Supreme Court of India proceeded to decriminalize the same. But since then, events have unfolded in such a manner that homosexual relationships, and ideologies far more toxic than that, have now found their way to children’s classrooms.

On Tuesday, it was reported that 8 short films on homosexual relationships will be screened in schools in Kolkata. At least one of them is based on a male escort. However, it is not yet clear if the movies will be screened for students under 15 years of age or above. Nonetheless, it is a matter of debate whether school going children should be exposed to such material at all.

Needless to say, the urge to include such material in the school curriculum is motivated by an indomitable desire among the liberal class of Indian society to mindless copy western cultural mores. Indian sexual mores are radically different from those in the United States of America. India is a far more conservative society than the west and sexual norms are still very conservative here. But there is an increasing urge among those who idealize the West to import all their norms here, without due consideration towards local cultural conditions.

LGBT Propaganda and gender politics: The craze among Indian liberals to adopt western cultural mores

India does not have to mindless copy western cultural norms in order to achieve the levels of prosperity that is observed there. India can achieve modernity on its own terms, while retaining the values that are important to itself. While it is fair to argue that gay men and lesbian women deserve to be treated fairly and courteously, it is bizarre to argue that it can be achieved only by exposing children to LGBT propaganda. While LGBT activists might take issue with the use of the word ‘propaganda’ to describe their activism, it is precisely what it is.

The movies on homosexual relationships being screened is not the worst of LGBT propaganda that have been broadcast to children in Indian schools. At the Tagore International School, a photograph was shown to children by an LGBT Rights group that showed a man breastfeeding a child after developing enlarged breasts. The man in the photograph was born a woman and had undergone hormonal therapy to make the transition to a man. It is perplexing that children should be exposed to such material to promote ‘inclusiveness’.

Individuals ought to be exposed to sexual material only after they have achieved a certain degree of maturity. It is not too much to expect schools to focus on Mathematics, Sciences and Literature and not sex. However, we have a trend now where even Drag Queen Story Hours have made their way to India. Drag Queens are usually homosexual men, transgenders or cross-dressers who often dress-up in heavily sexual female clothing, although not always.

It is not clear how any of this is relevant to education, or promoting inclusiveness for that matter. While LGBT activists might be quick to level allegations of ‘homophobia’ or ‘transphobia’ at concerned citizens who are not onboard with the agenda, the fact that people would not want children to be exposed to sexual politics at a young age is a critical concern that cannot be ignored entirely.

The danger of Gender Identity Politics

Furthermore, LGBT propaganda is not limited to homosexual relationships alone. In fact, LGBT politics runs hand in hand with the toxic ideology of gender identity politics. Gender Identity overlords believe that biological sex is a myth, that there are an infinite number of genders and that gender is a social construct. These are not just scientifically incorrect but dangerous ideas. It is utterly ridiculous to claim that gender does not have a firm basis in biology.

Nonetheless, LGBT activists want children to learn that ‘gender is fluid’ and if a boy claims to be a girl, then he deserves to be treated as a girl by everyone else around them and anything short of that is bigotry. The natural consequence of this is the fact that there have been quite a few horror stories where biological men were placed in female prisons and then went on to rape the female inmates. There was also the case of Jessica Yaniv who threatened to sue women because the women were not comfortable with waxing Yaniv’s male genitalia.

Children, especially girls, have been affected harshly by gender identity politics. Abigail Shrier, in her book ‘Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters’, documented how girls who were not necessarily suffering from gender dysphoria came to believe that they were ‘trapped in the wrong body’. Consequently, the girls went medical procedures to change their gender, many of whom came to regret their decision later.

Simultaneously, there is also a campaign underway to abandon the use of the word ‘women’ to describe women. The alternatives for it is ‘vulva-owners’, ‘menstruators’ and ‘vagina-owners’ among others, all of which are extremely derogatory terms. There is good reason to fear that the entire spectrum of gender identity politics is being imported to India from the West, lock, stock and barrel, without giving due though to the danger it poses.

The Russian view on LGBT propaganda

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been at the forefront of opposing such schemes. He has called gender identity politics a ‘borderline crime against humanity’.

Vladimir Putin noted in a speech recently, “In the 1920s, Soviet culture-warriors invented a so-called ‘newspeak,’ believing that in this way they would create a new sense of consciousness and redefine people’s values.” and further added, “like when children are taught from an early age that a boy can easily become a girl and vice versa. In fact, they are indoctrinating them into the alleged choices that are supposedly available to everyone – removing parents from the equation and forcing the child to make decisions that can ruin their lives.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said, “All world religions, the genetic code of the planet’s key civilisations, are under attack. The United States is at the forefront of state interference in church affairs, openly seeking to drive a wedge into the Orthodox world, whose values are viewed as a powerful spiritual obstacle for the liberal concept of boundless permissiveness.”

Promoting LGBT propaganda is banned in Russia and Putin maintains that while Russia has no problems with homosexuality, children should be left alone until they attain enough maturity to realise who they want to be. And this is an extremely sensible position to take, and one that India should adopt.

NCERT training manual for teachers: LGBT Propaganda that needs to be abandoned

Unfortunately, India is going the American way. The Department of Gender Studies at NCERT, recently, published a training manual for teachers that encapsulated the worst elements of Gender Identity Politics. The document blamed ‘caste patriarchy’ for the stigma against transgenders and railed against ‘binary’ in schools, such as different seating arrangements for boys and girls and different lines for them during assemblies.

It even claimed that the binary basis of toilets for boys and girls was a problem, although it later suggested a third unisex toilet be added. However, it does not take into consideration the infrastructure constraints of schools or whether such sweeping changes are even warranted. By its own admission, only 25 transgender students registered themselves for the Class 10 and 12 board exams in 2020.

Most notable, the document also suggested raising awareness about puberty blockers. Puberty blockers are medicines that block the natural development of puberty among children. Certain western countries have permitted children to receive puberty blockers without their parents’ consent.

The consequence can often be disastrous and possible side-effects include lower bone density and less development of genital tissue. In addition, it can also prevent children from having children of their own in the future. Needless to say, these medicines have serious impact and many of their long-term effects are not yet known.

Concerns in USA about gender identity politics

Megyn Kelly, an extremely popular media personality in the USA, revealed that her son’s school taught such ideas to third graders. She recalled, “One of our fellow parents, a man, raised his hand and said, ‘Why did my son come home’ — these are third graders, 8- and 9-year-olds — ‘Why did my son come home and asks if it’s true that he can take a pill to prevent puberty, and then, when he turns 18, he can have his penis chopped off if he wants to become a woman?’”

“There are things that are inappropriate to discuss with children, certainly third graders, as it was in our case, and teenagers down the line for all sorts of reasons,” she added. Rhode Island middle school teacher Ramona Bessinger said, “It is wrong. It is very wrong because kids glom onto various identities, especially at that middle school level. So, they are going to try different hats on at that age. They may try purple hair and different funny things.”

In another tragic case in Canada, a father was jailed for calling his biologically female child his ‘daughter’. Robert Hoogland, the father of the teenage girl, was jailed by a Canadian court for calling his biological female child his “daughter,” and referring to her with the pronouns “she” and “her.” Hoogland was found to be in contempt of court.

While certain people may accuse us of ‘alarmism’, it is not far-fetched to claim that all such toxic ideas could be imported to India within a very short span of time. As such, such ideas have to be resisted in order to protect the future of our children.

Some might argue that it is a simple case of screening movies on homosexual relationships in schools to promote ‘inclusiveness’. However, everything else indicates that this is only a part of a larger agenda to brainwash children into the toxic ideology of gender identity politics. If that comes to pass, the consequences will be disastrous.

Haryana: Hindus gather outside Christian school that had held derogatory Ramleela, chant Ramcharitmanas

Days after the administration of St. Mary’s public school in Haryana tendered an apology over an objectionable skit that was derogatory, Hindus gathered outside the Christian missionary school to recite Ramcharitmanas as a means of peaceful protest.

A video of the event was shared on social media by popular Twitter user Rosy (@rose_k01) on Tuesday (November 9). In a tweet, she wrote, “Such a graceful befitting reply by Hindus to St. Mary’s school that had made students perform mockery of Ramayan. Jai Shri Ram.” In the video, Hindus could be seen sitting outside the gate of St. Mary’s public school and reciting Ramcharitmanas in unison.

A longer version of the video was also shared by another Twitter user (@Saffron_Smoke) on Monday (November 8.)

The Background of the Case

The development came after a video clip of students performing a derogatory ‘Ramleela’ skit, within the premises of St. Mary public school, went viral on social media. In the said video, the student playing the character of Lord Ram could be seen referring to Laxman as ‘chotu’. The skit presented Lord Ram as a patient of dementia, who needed to confirm his identity and that of his wife Sita from his brother Laxman. Instead of evoking a sense of spirituality and cultural pride, the skit ended up making a mockery of the Hindu epic Ramayana.

Christian school apologises for objectionable Ramleela skit

Following outrage on social media, the administration of St. Mary’s Public School tendered an apology. In a written note sent to the Hindu IT Cell, the school principal Rajeev Sharma said, “If the Ramleela skit performed by some of our students has hurt the sentiments of any individual, then, we tender our unconditional apology for it. We assure you that such an incident will not be repeated in future.”

In a tweet, the Hindu IT Cell informed, “They (The IT Cell team) spoke with the principal Rajeev Sharma. He accepted his mistake and issued an apology. He also assured us that such a thing will never happen again. Special thanks to our core members.” Hindu activists from Bajrang Dal also protested outside the school, raising slogans to boycott it and take action against the administration of the school.

Leftists slam Shashi Tharoor for wishing LK Advani: How the attack reflects bigotry against political opponents

On 8 November 2021, BJP patriarch Lal Krishna Advani celebrated his 94th birthday. PM Modi, along with several politicians from across the political spectrum took to social media to extend their greetings to the nonagenarian leader.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor was also amongst those who took to Twitter and wished LK Advani on his birthday. “Warm wishes for a fine human being, a gentleman in politics, a leader of wide reading and great courtesy,” Tharoor tweeted along with adding the hashtag #HappyBirthdayLKAdvani.

However, this did not sit well with the Congress supporters and sympathisers, many of whom associate themselves with the left ideology. A bevvy of them descended on Shashi Tharoor’s timeline and lambasted the senior Congress leader for extending the general courtesy of wishing a political leader from the opposition party on his birthday.

Leftists slam Shashi Tharoor for wishing BJP ideologue LK Advani on his birthday

“Not surprising at all to see Tharoor eulogising Advani but it’s a massive shame how many people still consider this fascist apologist a role model merely because he speaks good English,” a palpably perturbed Twitter user said who could not bring himself to accept the fact that Congress’ blue-eyed boy had posted an effusive tweet extending birthday greetings to the former deputy prime minister of the country.

Another Twitter user said the tweet shows Shashi Tharoor ain’t worthy of being considered as a ‘fine human being’.

Still another Twitter user used Tharoor’s infamous tweet he had used against Arnab Goswami against him for Tharoor’s wishes for LK Advani. “Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations & outright lies being spoken by an unprincipled protagonist masquerading as an intellectual,” tweeted one Ammar Akhtar.

The hate on Twitter was not just limited to Tharoor alone. Even Advani was reviled, just because a leader of a so-called secular party chose to wish a BJP leader on his birthday. “A retired hate monger is still a hate monger,” commented a Twitter user rebuking Tharoor for extending his birthday greetings to LK Advani.

Source: Twitter

The harsh criticism directed at Congress leader Shashi Tharoor underscores the pathological hatred leftist supporters harbour for a leader who does not hew to their worldview. Their hatred for a leader belonging to the opposition camp is so pronounced that they don’t mind reviling and castigating their own leaders when they indulge in extending the general courtesy of wishing someone their birthday.

Liberal contempt for democracy and general civility

Advani has been a veteran, not just as a BJP leader but as a national politician. He has served as the Information and Broadcasting minister. He also served as the deputy prime minister of the country under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime. Advani is also credited for reinforcing the democratic ethos of the country when he launched the BJP along with Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other ex-Janata Party leaders.

With the formation of the BJP, Advani provided a formidable political party to the citizens of the country who had grown weary of the decades of Congress rule. Within a decade of its formation, BJP rose from winning just 2 Lok Sabha seats in the first general elections to racking up an impressive 86 in its second elections. In a way, Advani is responsible for reifying the democratic tradition of the country.

Therefore, leftists’ hate for their own leader and for LK Advani is a reflection of their contempt for democracy. For them, democracy is a virtue worth preserving only when political leaders and parties who share their ideology are in power. When an opposition party and leader get elected to power, instead of dissing a public mandate that made it possible, they try to undermine the democracy by making spurious and unfounded allegations against opponents.

Attack against Shashi Tharoor reflects Left’s unbridled hatred for opposition leaders

They would raise the bogey of “rising intolerance” so that the BJP government at the Centre could be painted as bigoted while it is they who are intolerant. They don’t spare even a sombre occasion such as death to peddle hatred against their ideological opponents. For example, a large number of left-leaning ‘intellectuals’, journalists and activists expressed glee after the death of Aaj Tak journalist Rohit Sardana, whom they branded as BJP supporter.

Well, when this was not enough for them, they even went to the extent of rebuking those who expressed their condolences over Sardana’s death. Likewise, similar depravity was witnessed after the passing away of BJP stalwarts Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj, when a host of left-wing supporters and sympathisers had taken to celebrating their deaths and castigating people belonging to the ‘left’ fold who had displayed the civility of commiserating their deaths.

While the left-liberals and their supporters hold forth others on the need to have “dignity in death” and to “rise above politics” on solemn occasions such as death, they clearly are not the ones who believe in the old adage of ‘practice what you preach’. For them, the hatred for non-left leaders is so profound and stark they consider it fair-game to attack even their own leaders if they find them indulging something as trivial and banal as wishing a political opponent on their birthday.

Nawab Malik set to drop ‘hydrogen bomb’ after Devendra Fadnavis’ press conference: Here’s what he said

National Congress Party (NCP) leader and minister Nawab Malik has announced that he will be dropping a ‘hydrogen bomb’ tomorrow. Malik’s statement comes after the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and former Maharashtra chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis exposed his supposed links with the ‘underworld.’

Immediately after Fadnavis’ presser Malik had simply Tweeted, “I am coming.”

The minister later informed that he will be dropping a ‘hydrogen bomb’ allegedly exposing Fadnavis’ link with the underworld. “I will drop a hydrogen bomb tomorrow in connection with Devendra Fadnavis. I will expose Devendra Fadnavis’ underworld links,” announced Malik.

Malik’s statement has garnered funny reactions with netizens mocking him for all the mudslinging the minister is involved in for the past few weeks.

Netizens react

A Twitter user Sambit Nayak asked for the location where Malik is planning to set off the ‘bomb.’

“Where exactly? Please tell in advance so that people can be evacuated. Also, where did you get enriched Hydrogen isotopes?” mocked Nayak.

Another netizen pointed out that the minister did not deny the allegations against him. “He hasn’t denied allegations by Fadnavis. But, will fabricate something & spread which friendly media will amplify?” Tweeted the user.

Another social media user linked the underworld with the NCP supremo and his people. “Ismein bhi “bomb” ki baat ! Where ever there is underworld, there is Pawar gang!” the handle Tweeted.

One Chandrashekar Srinivasan remarked that the ministers of a state are behaving like a bunch of kids. “I will drop a hydrogen bomb…FFS are these guys leaders of our states and the country or a bunch of kids sneering at each other???” he said.

‘Fadnavis trying to malign my image’

The NCP leader further alleged that the leader of the opposition is trying to malign his image.

“Devendra Fadnavis is trying to malign my image by connecting me to blast convicts & the underworld. They did the same by saying that drugs were recovered from my place, will send him legal notice,” Malik added.

Former CM exposed Malik’s links with the underworld

Maharashtra BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis in a press conference on Tuesday revealed that Malik and his family had cracked a land deal in 2005 with the convicts of Mumbai 1993 blasts.

Fadnavis in the presser informed that Nawab Malik and his family in the name of company Solidus had purchased land in Mumbai’s Kurla from owner Sardar Shah Wali Khan and Salim Patel.

While Sardar Shah Wali Khan is facing life imprisonment, Salim Patel is said to be a close aide of Dawood’s sister Haseena Parkar.
