Yogi Adityanath says ‘guilty won’t be spared but won’t act under pressure’ as farmers threaten more agitation which could lead to further violence

While the opposition parties, especially the Congress continue to play vulture politics in the wake of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured that the perpetrators will not be spared. He has, however, declined to take any action under pressure, without evidence.

Speaking at a conclave organized by a television channel on Friday (October 8), the UP CM asserted that “arrests will be made on the basis of evidence and not mere accusations.”

Action would be taken against perpetrators of Lakhimpur Kheri veiolnce in accordance with the procedure: Yogi Adityanath

“Everything will be crystal clear. There will be no injustice to anyone. No one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands, but no action will be taken under any pressure”, Yogi said.

The UP CM further said that opposition members who wanted to pay a visit to the victims’ families were only doing so to put on a show, but in reality, there are some faces among them who could be behind the Lakhimpur Kheri tragedy.

Asserting the everybody, irrespective of his position and power, are equal in the eyes of law, the Uttar Pradesh CM assured that the guilty, regardless of his or her party affiliation, would not be spared.

“However, according to the Supreme Court, we cannot arrest anyone on the basis of mere accusations made by someone. A case has been filed on the basis of a written complaint and the incident is being investigated”, the CM said when questioned about the possible resignation of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni and arrest of his son Ashish Mishra.

Earlier, the UP police had named Ashish Mishra in the FIR filed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. The ‘farmers’ have been insisting that Ashish Mishra was present at the spot when the incident happened, and some are even claiming that he was driving the car that hit two farmer protestors killing them. On the other hand, he and his father are saying that he was not even present at the spot on that day, so there is no question of him hitting the people with his car.

Yogi Adityanath slams opposition members, says they are targeting the UP govt to hide their failures

Slamming the members of the opposition parties for using the incident for political mileage, Yogi Adityanath said that the CM of Chhattisgarh and Punjab have not been able to run their own states but have been targeting the Uttar Pradesh government to hide their failures. He questioned the Congress scions, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, who have been particularly milking the Lakhimpur tragedy to boost their drowning political careers, especially before the upcoming UP Assembly polls.

“Where were Rahul and Priyanka and Akhilesh Yadav when Covid was in an uproar? Everyone, including the victims’ families, said they appreciated the government’s work” he said.

‘Farmers’ threaten a nationwide ‘rail roko’ protest fuelling further violence

Amidst the state government’s assurance that the guilty would not be spared and justice will be delivered, the ‘farmers’ have threatened more agitation which could lead to further violence. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha on Friday rejected the SIT and the inquiry commission set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the Lakhimpur Kheri violence and threatened a nationwide ‘rail roko’ protest on October 18 if its demands are not met.

The ‘farmers’ body has been demanding that Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Ajay Mishra be sacked and his son Ashish Mishra arrested in connection with the October 3 violence in Lakhimpur Kheri.

The SKM said that it rejects both the SIT and the Inquiry of Commission set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

UP Police summons Ashish Mishra in Lakhimpur Kheri incident

It is pertinent to note here that the UP police have already asked Ashish Mishra to appear before it in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. It pasted a notice outside the resident of the Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra on October 7, asking his son Ashish Mishra to appear before the police.

The notice asked Mishra to appear at the crime branch office at the reserve police lines, Janpad Kheri at 10 am on October 8. The notice stated that Ashish Mishra has been booked under sections 147, 148, 149, 279, 338, 304A, 302, 120B of the Indian Penal Code in the case where eight lives were lost. He has been asked to personally appear before the police to produce material, written, oral and electronic evidence in his defence.

The Lakhimpur Kheri violence

A total of eight people were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, which has become a huge political issue, especially for the Congress party. According to reports, protesting farmers attacked a convoy of BJP workers, following which a car allegedly lost control and injured two farmers. This infuriated the protesters, who attacked the vehicle, set it on fire, and assaulted the passenger. Two BJP workers, a journalist, and the driver were killed as a result of this. Two more farmers are said to have died as a result of the violence.

Afghanistan: ‘Sunni’ ISIS-KP takes responsibility for bombing Shia mosque in Kunduz, bomber an Uyghur Muslim

Hours after a suicide bomber targeted a Shia mosque in Kunduz, where 300 Muslims were offering their Friday prayers (Jumma Namaz), the ‘Sunni’ terror outfit Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP) has claimed responsibility for the dastardly attack.

Initial reports suggested that the number of people who were injured and died stood at 100. However, Talib Matullah Rohani informed that about 43 people had died and an additional 140 people were injured. On the other hand, Shia leader Sayed Ahmad Shah Hashemi put the death toll to 70. “This deadly incident has caused trauma among Shiites and other sectors of the society,” he emphasised.

Reportedly, the attacker has been identified as one Muhammad al-Uyguri, and hailed from the Muslim Uyghur minority in China. He detonated his explosive vest inside the mosque premises during the Friday prayers killing an estimated 50-100 people.

ISKP and the targetting of Shia Muslims

The recent rise of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan has accentuated the fear of the Hazara community who had earlier been targeted by ISKP. Islamic State of Khorasan Province follows the extremist Sunni ideology and has been involved in several terror activities, including the bombing at the Kabul airport on August 26 that claimed the lives of 13 US soldiers. ISKP is an offshoot of the Islamic State terror group (ISIS) that operates in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

Khorasan refers to a historical region comprising of Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Turkmenistan, the territories once controlled by a caliphate. The terrorist group was first formed in 2015 after several dissatisfied fighters of the Afghan Taliban and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, who viewed their own organisation as moderate outfits, joined the Islamic State, swearing to create a caliphate. The ISKP also influenced several radical Islamists studying in madrasas in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

ISKP had orchestrated attacks on girls’ schools, hospitals where they had shot dead pregnant women and nurses. However, their primary target has been the Shia Muslims (20% of Afghanistan’s population), who come from the Hazara community in a predominantly Sunni country. Although the Hazaras despised the US-backed Ashraf Ghani government for its inability to provide protection to them, life under Sunni ISKP and Deobandi Taliban had become even more difficult.

The newly installed Taliban government, having overthrown the country’s Western-backed administration in August, is struggling to contain an invigorated Islamic State. The group has grown increasingly antagonistic in recent weeks, conducting guerrilla-style attacks and bombings that have included Taliban fighters among the dead. The new government is also struggling with a collapsing economy as foreign funding remains largely frozen.

National Commission of Scheduled Castes summons Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia over ‘insult of Dalit teacher’ case in a university school

0

National Commission of Scheduled Castes has summoned the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University over the allegations of a Dalit teacher that he was insulted in a school under the university. The complaint was lodged in 2018 after Harendra Kumar, a Dalit and a former guest teacher who taught in the Jamia Middle School under the university, where he had claimed that he was “insulted and humiliated” by the headmaster of the school. Kumar also accused that the headmaster Mohammad Mursaleen addressed him by his caste infront of other teachers. The complaint was filed after guest teacher Kumar was removed from the job in 2018.

The summon issued by the commission said, “I am directed to refer to the subject mentioned above and to say that the Hon’ble Chairman of this Commission has fixed a hearing in this case with you in person on 13.10.2021 at 11 am in his chamber at 5th Floor, Lok Nayak Bhavan, New Delhi.”

It also mentioned that exceptions from personal appearance in hearing would not be granted except in exceptional circumstances.

A Delhi court in 2019 had ordered Delhi Police to register an FIR after the complaint was filed by Harendra Kumar. Kumar had claimed that casteist slurs were used by the headmaster several times, and he was made to do work outside his “protocol”. He had to approach the court to register his FIR as the police had failed to do so for one year after filing the complaint. Harendra Kumar had also approached the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and the Jamia Millia Islamia Vice-Chancellor.

.“I was appointed as a guest teacher in 2017, and was removed from my post in March 2018 without any reason. During my tenure, the headmaster humiliated me continuously by making me do all kinds of work including making tea, washing utensils, hanging curtains in the lab, etc. On more than one occasion, the headmaster used casteist slurs to address me,” Harendra Kumar had said.

On the other hand, headmaster Mohammad Mursaleen has claimed that the allegations were “false and baseless”, and that Kumar was using his SC identity to take “revenge”. He said that police probe has already proved that all allegations made by Kumar are false.

0

Seven persons were arrested by Surat Police on Friday after several videos had emerged showing them celebrating in a party violating Covid-19 norms. In the videos, several persons were seen dancing along with a bar dancer reportedly brought from Mumbai. Reportedly, the party was attended by members of the Mindi gang and Sukri gang.

The arrested persons have been identified as Kaisar Arif Shaikh, Fahad Arif Shaikh, Anas Rangrej, Mohammed Yasa Mohammed Hanif Shaikh, Tufail Kumbhar, Uvesh Kumbhar and Anis Shaikh, all residents of Khanderaopura in Surat. Police inspector V B Bharwad from Athwalines police station said, “We have arrested seven people identified in the video on Friday. The video is of a birthday party, organized at Sindhiwad area in Chowk Bazaar, Surat where the accused are seen showering currency notes on a bar dancer.”

Social media websites were awash with videos from the birthday party where Mindi gang members were seen dancing to the tunes of ‘Tamanche pe Disco’ and ‘Main Hoon Don’. The party was from the Bhagatalav area in Gujarat’s Surat and was organised in contravention to the COVID-19 guidelines enforced in the city. Reportedly, the birthday party was organised misusing the relaxations allowed in Covid-19 restrictions for Navaratri.

In the videos that have now gone viral, members of the Mindi gang, Sukri gang, and others in the party are seen dancing along with a bar dancer and throwing currency notes at her. The party was also attended by Jafer Golden, a dreaded criminal from Rustumpura, who could be seen in the videos that are now circulating on the internet.

While it is unclear when the party took place, the videos of the incident have been doing the rounds on the internet for the last 2 to 3 days. As per COVID guidelines imposed in the city, there was a night curfew and restrictions in place for the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi as well as Navratri. But the organisers seem to have flouted the strictures and organised a birthday party, which saw participation from Mindi gang members. It is also worth noting that the party was organised in the vicinity of Athwa police station in Surat.

Violent clashes erupts between infamous Arif Mindi gang and relatives of Congress leader Afzal Ranguni

Mindi gang was recently in the news for its clashes with the family members of Congress leader Afzal Ranguni in Surat’s Nanpura Khanderaopura area. Reportedly, a row over parking escalated into a major scuffle as both sides attacked each other with swords and weapons. At least four to five people were injured in the melee, including a woman.

An FIR was filed in the case against both the sparring parties. As per police sub-inspector NV Patel, who is probing the case, Faizal Ranguni has alleged that Arif Mindi, Fahad Mindi, Kaizar Mindi, Uheed Mindi, Anas Mindi, Junaid, Nadeem Sheikh, Alauddin and Mawiya Kumbhar attacked his cable office. The clashes took after a heated argument over a vehicle parked in a narrow lane. The assailants attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, the police inspector said.

Both sides also hurled glass bottles at each other. The Mindi family had alleged that Faizal Ranguni, Mukkadar, Jilloo, Faizan, Altmash, Asad, Moin attacked them with iron pipes, knives and bottles.

Police had arrested a few individuals from both sides and launched an investigation into the matter. It is worth mentioning here that Arif Mindi is notorious and has dozens of cases registered against him.

Prayagraj: Authorities demolish illegal encroachments around Mazhar in Chandrashekhar Azad Park following court order

Prayagraj Development Authority demolished 3 tombs and 14 graves overnight on Friday from the Chandrashekhar Azad Park in the city. The authority was acting on the Allahabad High Court’s order to remove encroachments from the park.

Local journalist from Prayagraj said that several illegal constructions around a big Mazhar have been demolished. The journalist claimed that the Mazhar itself has not been demolished.

On Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court had issued an order to the Uttar Pradesh government to demolish illegal constructions built after 1975 in Prayagraj’s Chandrashekhar Azad Park within three days. Accordingly, the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) and the district administration proceeded with the order and demolished all illegal constructions in the park.

Three small shrines raised next to an old tomb, illegal structures constructed in front of the Gyan Vriksha temple and a mosque have been dismantled in the process. According to reports, after the demolition, the administration and the PDA installed trees of three feet height on the ground where those demolished structures previously stood. More than a dozen bulldozers were deployed to demolish the encroachments as the authority had to comply with the court order within 12 pm today.

A bench consisting of Acting Chief Justice MN Bhandari and Justice Piyush Agarwal of the Allahabad High Court had issued the direction to remove the Azad Park encroachments. The High Court had issued the order while hearing a PIL filed to remove the encroachments in the park.

The PIL had said that the existence of this park is under threat as some members of the Muslim community have illegally constructed artificial graves and they are trying to convert a structure into a mosque. In this way, they want to convert the park into a graveyard and mosque, the petition had stated.

According to sources, other unlawfully built structures in the premises of Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Hindustani Academy, Ganganath Jhan Sanskrit Sansthan and other institutes located in Azad Park campus were also erased.

The demolition drive began on Thursday afternoon and lasted till Friday morning.

Rahul Kanwal asks Rakesh Jhunjhunwala what he told PM Modi, gets ‘befitting reply’, Congress makes perverted insult

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala appeared at the India Today Conclave 2021 and explained his reasons for feeling so positive about the future of India. During the interaction at the event, Rahul Kanwal of India Today Network asked him what he told Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he met him recently.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala responded saying people do not discuss their conversations with wives on Suhaag Raat (wedding night).

The comment was obviously made in jest, with the intention to convey the message that what was spoken between him and the Prime Minister was a private matter and he would not reveal what was said. However, the Congress party has decided to make inappropriate comments regarding the matter.

They are asking what is the relationship between Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and PM Modi, with obvious innuendos.

The Congress party has decided to turn the inappropriate comment into a concerted campaign, with the same text being copied in multiple tweets.

The Congress party and its sympathizers had also peddled misinformation and targeted the ace investor when photographs of his meeting with Prime Minister Modi emerged. In one of the photographs that emerged, Jhunjhunwala was spotted sitting on a chair while the Prime Minister was standing.

They conveniently ignored the fact that Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is suffering from health concerns and he has to use a wheelchair for his movement.

Attorney General declines consent for contempt proceedings against Bhim Army chief despite agreeing that Azad made scurrilous comments against SC

0

Attorney General KK Venugopal has refused to give consent to initiate a contempt proceeding against Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad, despite agreeing that he had made scurrilous allegations against Supreme Court and its judges. The consent of the attorney general or the solicitor general is required before the Supreme Court can hear a criminal contempt petition filed by a private individual.

In a letter on Thursday to the Delhi-based advocate Vineet Jindal, the complainant, in this case, KK Venugopal wrote that he carefully went through the email sent to him on 27th August 2021, seeking permission to initiate a proceeding of criminal content against Azad.

KK Venugopal opined that it was “true that scurrilous allegations have been made against the judges of the Supreme Court”. Venugopal added that it appeared that the statements of Azad were made with the “intent to be provocative”.

Despite agreeing that the statements were scurrilous and provocative in nature, the Attorney General declined to grant consent to initiate proceedings for criminal contempt against the Bhim Army chief.

Delhi-based advocate Vineet Jindal had in the month of August written to the Attorney General drawing his attention towards how Chandrashekhar Azad ‘Rawan,’ President of Bheem Army and Leader of Azad Samaj Party had disgraced the dignity of the Indian Judiciary. He had said that Azad had passed derogatory and scandalous statements about the Supreme Court of India and its judges during an interview which was aired on a news channel on August 27, 2021, and also widely circulated on the internet.

Azad, according to Jindal, had scandalised the process of selecting judges based on the Collegium. The Delhi-based lawyer had a complaint to the Attorney General that the Azad had alleged that the selection process as totally biased and that it takes place in the interest of sitting judges and their family members. He added that with his remarks, Azad had scandalised the judgments passed by the Supreme Court judges and accused them of being corrupt.

“I am therefore seeking your kind consent under section 15 (1) (b) of the contempt of courts Act 1971, read with rule 3 of the rules to regulate the proceedings for the contempt of the Supreme court 1975 to initiate criminal contempt against Chandrashekhar Azad “Ravan”, the letter read.

Attorney General KK Venugopal sanctions criminal contempt proceedings against DO Politics co-founder Ajeet Bharti

In stark contrast to the above decision, Attorney General KK Venugopal had last month granted sanction to initiate criminal contempt proceedings against YouTuber Ajeet Bharti. The situation was almost identical, as Ajeet Bharti was also accused of criticising the Supreme Court and its judges in one of his videos on the social media platform. Much like the aforementioned complaint against Chandrashekhar Azad, it was alleged that Ajeet Bharti had used “scurrilous” “vituperative” and “highly derogatory” words against Supreme Court and its judges.

“I find that the contents of the video which has been watched by about 1.7 lakh viewers are vituperative, gross and highly derogatory to the Supreme Court of India and the judiciary as a whole being clearly intended to denigrate the courts,” Venugopal said.

A lawyer identified as Kritika Singh had sought to initiate contempt proceedings against Bharti, who runs the DO Politics YouTube channel, on July 1.

Attorney General declines permission for contempt proceedings against Swara Bhaskar

Attorney General KK Venugopal had in August 2020 declined permission to an advocate to file a contempt plea against actress-cum-activist Swara Bhasker for comments on the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi.

The petition was filed by advocate Anuj Saxena, Prakash Sharma & Mahek Maheshwari on behalf of one Usha Shetty. Reportedly, the petitioners argued that Swara Bhaskar tried to scandalise the court through her comments made during a conference titled, ‘artists against communalism’ that has was held in Mumbai in February 2020.

The petitioners had argued that the actress resorted to a ‘cheap stunt of publicity’ in a bid to make the people revolt against the apex court. The petition reiterated that the objective of her comments was to stir a feeling of ‘no-confidence’ among the masses against the Supreme Court and its judges.

Surrounded by Congress workers with cameras, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sweeps ground at Dalit locality in Lucknow

As the Congress party continues its efforts to extract maximum political mileage out of the unfortunate Lakhimpur Kheri violence, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has started doing stunts of sweeping floors. After sweeping the floor of Sitapur Guest House in UP three days ago, today she was seen sweeping the ground at a Dalit locality in Lucknow, surrounded by cameras.

Today the Congress leader had paid a surprise visit to Luvkush Nagar, a Dalit locality in Indira Nagar in Lucknow, keeping an eye on the upcoming assembly elections in the states. There, she visited the Balmiki Mandir in the locality, and picked up a broom and started sweeping the ground in the area to express solidarity with the locals.

Priyanka Gandhi was accompanied by another woman in cleaning the ground, and her supporters were chanting ‘Priyanka Gandhi Zindabad’ while she was sweeping for the cameras. She was surrounded by Congress workers taking photos and videos of the act, with at least 8 people recording the same on mobile phones and cameras. While some people were taking selfies keeping Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the background, others were taking photos and videos of her stunt on their mobile phones.

“This is a sign of self-respect and simplicity. Crores of women clean their houses with a broom every day,” she said after sweeping the ground.

Uttar Pradesh Congress posted the video saying that sweeping is a work of self-respect, and they tagged the official Twitter handle of UP CM Yogi Adityanath advising him to change his thoughts.

Evidently, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra performed this act responding to UP CM Yogi Adityanath who had taken a dig at her for sweeping the floor of a guest house in Sitapur where she was kept in custody. When reporters had asked him about images of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sweeping the floor of the guest house viral, the CM had quipped that the voters feel that she is good at it. “Janta unko ishi layak banana chahti hai (people want to make her capable of doing such tasks),” Yogi Adityanath told CNN18 during an interview.

Congress party had objected to this comment by the UP CM, and UP Congress Spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said that he is “hell scared of the ‘Durga Avatar’ of Priyanka-ji”.

On October 5, she was stopped from going to Lakhimpur Kheri by Uttar Pradesh police, and was detained and lodged at Sitapur Guest House. There, she was seen sweeping the floor of the guest house in a video that had gone viral.

‘Mahilayen maaf nahi karengi’: Read why Tej Pratap Yadav is angry at RJD and says women will never forgive the party

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s prodigal son Tej Pratap has long been upset with the RJD. On Friday, Tej Pratap announced that the women of Bihar will never forgive RJD.

In a tweet. Tej Pratap emphasized that ‘mother’ is the most important person in his life and without ‘mother’, there will be darkness everywhere.

Sharing RJD’s list of ‘Star campaigners’ submitted to the Election Commission of India for the upcoming by-polls in the state, Tej Pratap lamented at the names of his mother Rabri Devi and sister Misa Bharti being dropped from the list.

RJD had released a list of 20 star campaigners ahead of bypolls in Kushwswar Asthan and Tarapur seats.

“Mera naam rehta na rehta, maa aur didi ka naam rehna chahiye tha”, (it does not matter if they dropped my name, but mother and sister’s names should have been there”. Further, he added, since Maa is worshipped on Dusshera, it is deplorable that RJD has ignored the mother (his mother, Rabri Devi).

Tej Pratap added that for this grave omission, the women of Bihar will never forgive RJD.

Tej Pratap had ‘expelled himself’

Recently, RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari had announced that Tej Pratap Yadav had ‘expelled himself’ from the party and had started his own political outfit. He had also informed that Tej Pratap Yadav also does not have permission to use the party election symbol lantern.

Tiwari’s statement had come amid reports that the Yadav brothers are not getting along and RJD is now under the de facto control of Tejashwi Yadav.

Tej Pratap Yadav has recently launched his own political outfit Chhatra Janshakti Parishad, which is parallel to RJD’s students’ wing, Chhatra RJD. Last month, he launched Chhatra Janshakti Parishad and declared himself the President. He had however claimed it would be part of RJD only.

Bihar will see by-polls for 2 assembly seats in the coming weeks. The alliance partners Congress and RJD had been in a disagreement over seat-sharing and are fielding candidates against each other. Congress leader Ashok Ram’s son Atirekh Kumar is fighting by-polls from Kusheshwar Asthan seat. The other seat is Tarapur and the RJD also has announced a candidate there.
