New election issue for Samajwadi Party? Akhilesh Yadav blames Yogi Govt for street fight between two bulls

Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav supremo appears to have found a new poll issue ahead of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, to be held early next year. With the election campaign expected to heat up going into the polls, Yadav was found outraging on social media about a fight between two bulls.

The video he shared was apparently from Gorakhpur. The video showed two bulls having a go at each other and inadvertently ended up entering a shop. Commenting on the matter, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Cities and villages of Uttar Pradesh are facing constant accidents and problems due to the terror of bulls and businessmen and villagers are suffering losses. Citizens have been left to their own and the BJP government is absent from the scene.”

The Samajwadi Party leader was also careful to add a hashtag that said ‘(we) do not want BJP Government’. The bizarre comment sparked mockery on social media where people made fun of the leader.

Earlier, an ABP-CVoter survey had predicted that BJP would comfortably win the state elections to be held in 2022. The BJP alliance is expected to secure a 42 per cent vote share as per the survey figures. SP is a distant second with a vote share projection of 30 per cent vote, and BSP is slated to take third place with just 16 per cent vote. Under the helm of Gandhi-scion Priyanka Gandhi, the Congress party fails to make an impact yet again with just a 5 per cent projected vote share.

The BJP is expected to comfortably cross the majority mark with a projected 259-267 seats out of the total 400 seats, according to the poll. On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party may get 109-117 seats to emerge as the principal opposition party.

Amid reports of fights between Baradar and Haqqani factions over power-sharing, Pakistan’s ISI chief arrives in Kabul to meet the Taliban

Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, the Chief of Pakistan’s Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) arrived in Kabul today to meet the Taliban amidst the reports of ongoing heavy fighting between different factions of the Taliban over the power-sharing in the yet to be formed government.

Pakistan journalist Ghulam Abbas Shah said that Hameed is visiting Afghanistan at the invitation of the Taliban to discuss the future of the two countries.

The journalist said that the ISI chief travelled to Kabul to hold talks with the Taliban’s top leadership amidst reports of disagreement between the Abdul Ghani Baradar, the co-founder and the senior-most leader of the Taliban, and the Haqqani network leader Anas Haqqani, son of Jalaluddin Haqqani and brother of Sirajuddin Haqqani, the current head of the terrorist group and deputy chief of the Taliban.

Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is the major patron of the Haqqani Network, which is designated as a terror group by the United Nations over its close ties Al-Qaeda.

Reports suggest that the purpose of Faiz Hameed’s visit is to solve major differences among the Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Mullah Yaqoob of Quetta Shura, the eldest son of Mullah Omar and the Haqqani network.

According to Iranian journalist Tajuden Soroush, reports are coming from Kabul that a deep rift between the Taliban factions have surfaced that has delayed the formation of its government. Earlier, it was reported Mullah Baradar was expected to lead the Taliban government, however, as per reports, it has been delayed after the tensions between the Mullah Baradar group and the Haqqani network.

According to Panjashir Observer, a local news outlet from Afghanistan, gunfire broke out last night in Kabul over the power-sharing agreement between Mullah Baradar and Anas Haqqani. Apparently, the forces loyal to Anas Haqqani and Mullah Baradar fought over a disagreement. Mullah Baradar was reportedly injured in the gunfight and is receiving treatment in Pakistan.

Yesterday, there were several reports of ‘celebratory gunfire’ over the news that the Taliban has captured Panjshir. However, the reports of victory in Panjshir has been proved to be false, and now if reports are to be believed, it was actually a gunfight between different factions of the Taliban over the formation of government in Afghanistan. According to Afghan media house Tolo News, 2 people had died and several were injured in the gunfire yesterday, which indicate that it was actually a gunfight and not firing in the air.

Further, as per a News18 report, the ISI is leading hectic negotiations between Taliban leadership and the Haqqani Network over government formation in Afghanistan. The radical Islamic group plans to set up a government based on Iran’s model – an Islamic republic where the Supreme Leader is the head of state and the highest-ranking political and religious authority above the president.

Besides the rift between Mullah Baradar and the Haqqanis, it is also reported that Mullah Yaqoob is not happy with the power-sharing agreement. It is reported that Yaqoob wants to impose military elements into the new Afghan government instead of just political factors being pushed by Mullah Baradar.

The government formation may be delayed in the war-ravaged country amidst the power struggle.

Pakistan to help Taliban to revamp the Afghan army, worried about threats from Afghanistan

Earlier, there were reports that Pakistan ISI Chief Hamid Faiz was scheduled to visit Kabul for a backdoor entry into the new Taliban regime. The Pakistani establishment intends to support Afghanistan in revamping the Afghan army, which is in disarray after the Taliban’s takeover.

A top-level Pakistan official, who has access to the country’s security decisions, had revealed that the Pakistanis have decided to send security and intelligence officials to Afghanistan to help the Taliban reorganise their military. Pakistan intends to help the radical Islamic outfit to re-organise its army and may also provide necessary training to the Taliban, which is largely made up of Pashtun fighters trained in Pakistan madrasas.

It is being said that Pakistan’s worry has aggravated after the recent suicide bombing carried out by the Islamic State outside Kabul airport killed more than 100 people, including 13 US troops. Besides terror attacks, there have been gunfights across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border since last week, killing at least two Pakistani soldiers.

The Pakistan security establishment is concerned about the possibility of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, an Islamic terror group that is made of Pashtun tribesmen just as the Afghan Taliban, carrying out terror attacks in Pakistan by crossing over from Afghanistan. Over the last few years, TTP has killed several Pakistan security officials, civilians in terror attacks.

Interestingly, Pakistan, the chief backer of the Taliban, is yet to recognise the new Taliban government.

Pakistan: BTS member Jungkook’s birthday billboard removed after local MLA accused Korean band of promoting homosexuality

0

A billboard wishing BTS member Jungkook on his 24th birthday was removed in Pakistan’s Gujranwala after it was accused of allegedly promoting “homosexuality”.

The incident pertains to September 1, when the fan club of the uber-famous Korean boy’s band BTS, known as BTS Army, put up a poster of Jeon Jungkook to wish him on his birthday. The BTS Army had sought permission from the Chamber of Commerce’s permission to put a billboard that featured the ‘Golden Maknae’ wearing a black and white suit with the caption “Happy 24th Birthday”.

However, Younus Mughal, who owned the poster, was shocked when he was forced to pull down the billboard, just a day after a local MLA alleged that it promoted homosexuality. According to Mughal, Furqan Aziz Butt, a Punjab Assembly candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami, asked him to immediately remove the poster.

Mughal was perplexed as to why Butt had asked him to pull down the billboard, just a day after it was put up. “Although we took it down the same evening when we got a complaint against the poster. When we saw the ad while removing it, we didn’t really get what it was about, just that it showed someone’s face,” he said.

A report published in Vice said Furqan Aziz Butt received a “lot of complaints from people” about the ad on his Facebook. He said the Korean band had a harmful influence on the youth of Gujranwala and promoted ‘homosexuality’. “There are young people in this city. This group (BTS) has a negative influence on them and encourages them to behave in wrong activities. They promote homosexuality,” Butt grumbled while defending the removal of Jungkook’s poster.

Pakistan’s BTS Army slams local MLA for getting BTS member Jungkook’s poster removed

The removal of Jungkook’s poster did not sit well with Pakistan’s BTS ARMY, a passionate and dedicated group of fans of the Korean band, who took to social media to express their anger and protest against the Pakistani MLA. One of the members of the BTS ARMY from Islamabad, Zainab Zaman, told Vice that Pakistani ARMYs were hurt by the decision and rubbished the MLA’s claims that the group promoted homosexuality.

“A politician just comes up out of nowhere and says that BTS is promoting homosexuality and spreading vulgarity. BTS has never used vulgar verses in their songs. They are just about loving yourself and being happy,” Zainab said.

Several aggrieved BTS fans also took to Twitter to fume against the Pakistani MLA for getting the poster of Jungkook removed on trumped-up charges.

It is worth noting that homosexuality is banned under Islam. The state religion of Pakistan, Islam, prohibits any kind of manifestation of homosexual behaviour. The Holy Quran also has verses that advocate stringent punishment to those indulging in homosexuality.

Most schools of Shari’ah Law view homosexual sex as deserving the same punishment as adultery, ie death. Countries that abide by the puritanical version of Islam even impose capital punishment on people caught taking part in homosexual acts. Pakistan, which is also one of such conservative countries, criminalises LGBTQ+ people under the Penal Code 1860 and the Hudood Ordinance 1979.

BTS: South Korean K-pop sensation

BTS is a massively popular South Korean boy band that was formed in 2010 and debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. The band, also known as the Bangstan Boys comprise seven members —Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. The group co-writes and co-produces much of their own output. It had recently come up with a song called “Butter” that instantly became a chartbuster.

The band had originally been a hip hop group, but their musical style has evolved over a period of time to include a wide range of genres. The lyrics to their songs often focus on personal and social issues, touching upon themes of mental health, school-age problems, loss, among other things. Their body of work also includes references to literature and psychological concepts, along with an alternative universe storyline.

Besides, they have a formidable fan base, who call themselves ARMY. A.R.M.Y is an acronym for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth. By some accounts, the band has more than 90 million fans across the world, who are passionately devoted to the group.

Centre, Assam and six insurgent outfits sign ‘Karbi Peace Accord’ in Delhi, insurgency expected to end in the Karbi Anglong region

The tripartite Karbi Peace accord was signed today at the national capital in the presence of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma, former CM Sarbananda Sonowal and representatives of the Karbi outfits. The agreement was signed by the central government, the Assam government, and six insurgent groups active within the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council region. The accord is expected to end violence in the Karbi dominated areas in Assam.

The representatives from all the six Karbi outfits, Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF), People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK), three factions of Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT) and United People’s Liberation Army (UPLA), signed the accord following detailed discussions with Union Home Ministry officials.

Home minister Amit Shah informed that around 1000 cadres of more than 5 organizations have shunned arms and joined the mainstream today along with the signing of the accord. “Modi government is committed to resolving the decades-old crisis, ensuring the territorial integrity of Assam,” he tweeted.

The home minister added, “From Bru-Reang settlement to the Karbi-Anglong agreement, we’ve completed 80% commitments of the previous 3 agreements and almost 100% of Bodoland”.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the signing of the Karbi Peace Agreement marked a historic day for Assam.

Around 200 militants, who were part of the 1040 militants who surrendered this year on February 25 before the Assam government, were present at the signing of the peace accord. These militants who surrendered were part of Karbi insurgent groups such as Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF), People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK), United People’s Liberation Army(UPLA) and Kuki Liberation Front(KLF). The Karbi insurgency has a long history in Assam which would be remembered for its violent abductions, illegal taxations, etc. from the 1980s.

Armed militancy supported the Karbi insurgency since 1990s. The groups Karbi National Volunteers (KNV) and Karbi People’s force (KPS) united to form the United People’ Democratic Solidarity, the UPDS had entered a ceasefire agreement in 2004. The Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) was formed out of the UPDS in 2004. The KLNLF entered into a ceasefire agreement in 2010. Later, another outfit called KPLT, Karbi People Liberation Tiger Front, was formed out of KLNF led by Amitabh Hanse who desired to carry on the Karbi armed struggle until the Karbi expectations are not met.

The main demand of the Karbi organisations is a separate Karbi state. At present, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, an autonomous council under the sixth scheduled of constitution, works for the development and protection of tribals living in the area that includes Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts.

The Peace Accord takes place in the backdrop of achieving success in resolving border disputes between Assam and Nagaland, the violent clash at the Assam Mizoram border and border dispute related developments between Assam and the Meghalaya government. The Karbi Peace Accord also follows from the Bodo Peace accord to solve the insurgency problems in the region.

ABP-CVoter survey: BJP predicted to win Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, AAP leads in Punjab

On Friday, the ABP-CVoter survey released its pre-poll survey for the upcoming Assembly elections in five states – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. According to the ABP-CVoter survey, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win in four of the five states going to the polls in early 2022.

The poll suggests that the saffron party will return to power in four states – Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. All four states have an incumbent NDA government currently.

In the Congress-ruled Punjab, according to the ABP-CVoter poll, no single party will cross the majority, however, Aam Aadmi Party is currently leading as the single largest party in Punjab, slightly short of the majority mark.

The pre-poll survey indicates that the BJP enjoys popular public support in these four states and may continue to be in power. However, for the Congress party, the survey comes as a shock. If ABP-CVoter holds true, then the Congress party faces a massive crisis in all the five states that go into the polls early next year, with Punjab and Manipur being the worst-hit states.

Here are the details of the ABP-CVoter pre-poll survey of the five states:

Uttar Pradesh:

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP alliance is expected to secure a 42 per cent vote share as per the survey figures.

Interestingly, BSP’s vote share does not translate into seat share as it is projected to win only 12-16 seats. The Congress party to get 3 to 7 seats, and others at 6 to 10.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the most popular leader in the state, with 40 per cent of the respondents want him as the preferred CM choice. Akhilesh Yadav is next at 28 per cent affirmation. Former CM Mayawati is placed at the third spot.

Uttarakhand:

As per the ABP-CVoter poll, the BJP is slated to win the state. The BJP is projected to win a 43 per cent vote share and 44-48 seats out of the 70 seats. On the other hand, Congress is projected to secure around 33 per cent vote, translating into 19-23 seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which is gaining to make an entry into the hill state, is gaining at the expense of the Congress party. AAP is projected to get around a 15 per cent vote. However, the vote share may not get translated into seat share as AAP may just 0-4 seats, according to the ABP-CVoter survey.

Even though the Congress party is in a distant second, its leader continues to be the most popular leader as CM choice. Former CM Harish Rawat is leading the charts by 31 per cent, while incumbent CM Pushkar Singh Dhami is preferred at second with 22.5 per cent. Anil Baluni of the BJP is placed a close third with 19 per cent popularity points. Nearly 10 per cent of the surveyed wants Colonel Kothiyal of AAP to be the next Chief Minister.

Punjab:

Punjab – one of the crucial border states, is expected to throw a surprise, as per the ABP-CVoter survey. The pre-poll survey suggests that the Aam Aadmi Party may emerge as the single largest party in Punjab with a seat share of 51-57 seats and a vote share of 35 per cent.

The Congress party, which is facing a huge crisis due to the infighting between incumbent Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu is staring at a massive defeat if the pre-poll survey is to be believed. The Congress party is expected to win only 38-46 seats as against 77 seats in the last elections. The Congress party may get around 29 per cent vote share.

The BJP Punjab may not perform well as expected amidst the backdrop of the farm law protests in the state. BJP is not a major force in Punjab. The party will gain a marginal vote share to get 7 per cent of total votes, but it may fail to win a single legislative assembly seat.

Strangely, the ABP-CVoter polls suggest that 22 per cent of the survey participants want Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as the Chief Minister of Punjab. AAP has not projected its Chief Minister candidate in Punjab yet. Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal is the second most popular leader with 19 per cent, closely followed by incumbent CM Amrinder Singh at 18 per cent.

Manipur:

The NDA alliance is slated to win Manipur with a 41 per cent vote share and 32-36 seats. The BJP-led alliance is slated to beat anti-incumbency in Manipur, according to the ABP-CVoter poll.

In Manipur, the Congress party will hold onto its status as the principal opposition party. The Congress party may get 18-22 seats, while NPF may win 2-6 seats.

As per the pre-poll survey, BJP is expected to continue its successful run in Northeast India. Congress is facing a leadership deficit and crisis of credibility in the region, just as in the rest of India.

Goa:

Despite anti-incumbency, the BJP is expected to be back at the power in Goa, just like the case of Uttarakhand, this time with more legislators. According to the ABP-CVoter survey, BJP is in the pole position with a projected vote share of 39 per cent and a seat share of 22-26 seats.

Surprisingly, AAP is set to replace the Congress party as the principal opposition party dethroning the INC. AAP is projected to win a 15 per cent vote share and 4-8 seats. At the same time, the INC is projected to win a 15 per cent vote share and 3-7 seats.

BJP CM Pramod Sawant leads the Chief Minister’s race with 33 per cent points. The AAP candidate is the nearest rival, with just 14 per cent want him as the Chief Minister.

The ABP-CVoter indicates that the BJP is still the most preferred political party in the country. The BJP has successfully managed anti-incumbency in the North, East and West of India, which could be indicative of a larger trend across the country.

Ravish Kumar makes much ado about nothing after Hathway Cable removed NDTV India from some popular packs

0

The self-proclaimed ‘only righteous journalist on this earth’ and the executive of fake news factory, Ravish Kumar of the NDTV India on Friday night appeared with a short video of him and informed that Hathway Cable TV has removed NDTV from some popular packs.

This video has been uploaded by NDTV on its Twitter account.

Ravish Kumar in this 1.38 minutes video alleged that Hatchway Cable has removed his channel as a part of a conspiracy to blackout the channel so that the contents of the channel don’t reach the audience. He said that NDTV prepares its programs with lots of effort, but now people are being prevented to watch these programs.

Ravish Kumar also claims that he and NDTV are different from others, explaining how he and his team tirelessly work and burn the midnight oil to bring his Prime Time show. He then takes a dig at other news channels stating that he is different from the rest of the news channels that organize fights in the name of debate by picking idle persons from the club.

He continues his monologue stating that conspiracies have been made to stop the well-researched content of his team to reach the audience. Ravish Kumar who himself is the poster boy of surrogate journalism boasts that when the rest of the media houses are killing the dream of a democracy of millions of Indians, he and his team brings the truth.

Ravish Kumar bemoans “today’s programme will not reach you,” as if India stops to watch his prime time which India had witnessed during the telecast of the serials Ramayana and Mahabharata. At the end of the video, Ravish Kumar urges the audience to call and message Hatchway Cable to restore NDTV India to watch prime time.

The NDTV anchor delivered his speech if his channel has been blocked on the Hatchway Cable, calling it a conspiracy. But the NDTV tweet itself says that the channel has only been removed from some popular packs, which means that the channel is still available on the cable network. It is not a secret that NDTV is one of the least popular news networks, with very low viewership. Accordingly, Hathway may have removed the NDTV India channel from some packs.

But the fact is that NDTV India remains available on the network, and it has not been blocked by the cable network as alleged by Ravish Kumar. People willing to watch the channel can subscribe to it individually, or subscribe to a pack that includes the channel, like a pack of Hindi news channels.

As usual, Ravish’s catharsis ended up giving comic relief and no wonder majority of netizens applauded Hatchway Cable for this ‘good riddance’.

Alex Jones takes Ivermectin live on air to bust the left’s ‘horse dewormer’ propaganda in an unexpected fallout of Joe Rogan catching Covid

Famous conspiracy theorist Alex Jones consumed Ivermectin live on air in order to dispel the ‘horse dewormer’ propaganda the Left has been peddling against the drug. The inexplicable series of events was initiated after Joe Rogan caught Covid-19 and said that he had taken Ivermectin.

Joe Rogan in a video on Instagram had said that he was taking Ivermectin after catching Covid-19. Since then, he has reportedly recovered from the disease.

Alex Jones appeared in his usual eccentric avatar for Infowars, a media initiative he founded. “This is Ivermectin,” he declared before going on to say, “See this? See this Fauci? See this Bill Gates?” During his rant, he called some people “b*st*rd murderers” although it is not clear who he was referring to.

Continuing his rant, he said, “You wanna suppress me? You wanna kill me? You godd*mned demon.” Then he went on to mount a passionate defense of Joe Rogan, who is a friend of his and he has appeared multiple times on his podcast.

What is the deal with Ivermectin?

For some reason, there is a bizarre propaganda underway in the United States of America to brand Ivermectin a “horse dewormer” despite the fact that a version of the drug is known to be used for human treatment.

The propaganda appears to have been triggered by an ambiguously worded tweet by the US Food and Drugs Administration. The tweet, sharing a FDA report that elaborated on ‘Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19’, said, “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”

Source: Twitter

The FDA blog said, “FDA has received multiple reports of patients who have required medical attention, including hospitalization, after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for livestock.” It said, “The FDA has not authorized or approved ivermectin for use in preventing or treating COVID-19 in humans or animals. Ivermectin is approved for human use to treat infections caused by some parasitic worms and head lice and skin conditions like rosacea.”

The blog also stated, “Currently available data do not show ivermectin is effective against COVID-19. Clinical trials assessing ivermectin tablets for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19 in people are ongoing.”

Thus, quite clearly, authorities in the US are testing whether the drug is effective against Covid-19. Moreover, it is clearly not only a “horse dewormer” drug, as claimed by the Left. The FDA did highlight the fact that they have received reports of people consuming the animal version of the drug but the Left in the USA is on a crusade to brand the drug as a “horse dewormer” altogether.

At the same time, it is safe to assume some people did consume the animal drug with expectedly disastrous consequences. Needless to say, any drug should only be consumed on the advice of qualified physicians and it is extremely dangerous to self-medicate without taking professional advice.

The ‘horse dewormer’ propaganda that Alex Jones wanted to bust

The Hollywood Reporter falsely claimed on Thursday that Joe Rogan had consumed a ‘horse dewormer’ drug, when it is evidently certain that the podcaster took the version of the drugs meant for humans.

Source: Twitter

Vox journalist Aaron Rupar also falsely accused Joe Rogan of consuming a ‘horse dewormer’.

Source: Twitter

The propaganda to brand Ivermectin as such is widespread across the American Left. While it is perfectly reasonable to suggest that people should not consume the drug for Covid-19 treatment, to delegitimize it altogether appears equally dangerous. Furthermore, even the CDC recommends the drug for specific treatment for US bound refugees.

Ivermectin for Covid-19 treatment

There are some governments that have used Ivermectin to treat Covid-19. The Uttar Pradesh Government, which has been highly successful in containing the pandemic, has used the drug to combat the disease.

Earlier in May, the UP Government had announced that they had recommended the drug for “prophylactic and therapeutic” use.

Uttar Pradesh State Surveillance Officer Vikssendu Agrawal had said, “Uttar Pradesh was the first state in the country to introduce large-scale prophylactic and therapeutic use of Ivermectin. In May-June 2020, a team at Agra, led by Dr Anshul Pareek, administered Ivermectin to all RRT team members in the district on an experimental basis. It was observed that none of them developed Covid-19 despite being in daily contact with patients who had tested positive for the virus.”

Crediting the drug for the low positivity and death rate in the state, he had said, “Despite being the state with the largest population base and a high population density, we have maintained a relatively low positivity rate and cases per million of population”.

“Once the second wave subsides, we would conduct our own study as there has been an emerging body of evidence to substantiate our timely use of Ivermectin from the first wave itself,” he told the Indian Express.

Agra District Magistrate Prabhu N Singh also credited Ivermectin for the state’s success against Covid-19.

Jharkhand Assembly to have a dedicated room to offer Namaz, BJP opposes the decision

In a major controversy, the Jharkhand Assembly has decided to reserve a separate room inside the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha to offer Namaz.

The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Secretariat has issued an order on September 2 stating that room number TW 348 in the new Assembly building of Jharkhand will be allotted for Muslims to offer the Namaz. The order was issued by Naveen Kumar, the Deputy Secretary of the Jharkhand legislative assembly.

Presently, the 81 member Jharkhand Legislative Assembly has four Muslim MLAs. Two Muslim MLAs are from the Congress party- Irfan Ansari and Alamgir Alam. The other two – Dr Sarfaraz Ahmad and Haji Hussain Ansari – belong to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

The decision of the Jharkhand Assembly Speaker to allot a dedicated space for Muslims inside a secular institution such as Vidhan Sabha has evoked a strong response across the state.

BJP objects, demands a temple inside assembly premises.

BJP, the largest opposition party in Jharkhand, has slammed the Jharkhand government for its controversial decision and said that a separate room should also be allotted to Hindus in the state Assembly recite Hanuman Chalisa.

BJP leader Babu Lal Marandi said that the temple of democracy should stay as the temple of democracy only. He added that the allotment of a separate room at the assembly for Namaz is wrong.

“If Muslims can offer Namaz in a separate room, why can’t Hindus be allowed to recite Hanuman Chalisa (in a separate room). I urge the Secretary of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly that five rooms or a hall be allowed to Hindus to recite Hanuman Chalisa,” another BJP leader said.

Former speaker and BJP leader CP Singh has also made similar demands and said that a Hanuman Temple should be built in the Assembly premises.

“I’m not against Namaz room, but then they should also build a temple at Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha premises. I even demand that Hanuman Temple should be set up there. If Speaker approves, we can build the temple at our own cost,” he said.

Meanwhile, responding to the allegations, JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey reportedly said that no mosque has been constructed inside the assembly, but only a room has been arranged for offering prayers. He claimed that this system is not a new one.

The JMM spokesperson said that the new building was built during the BJP rule, and if BJP has so much love for Hindus, then a temple should have been built inside the assembly premises then. He added that the arrangements have been made for Muslim MLAs to offer Namaz in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday. Pandey added that if anyone wished to recite Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesday, then the room will be arranged for them too.

In 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the new building of the Jharkhand Assembly at Kute gram. The three-storey building, constructed at the cost of Rs 465 crore, is the first paperless Assembly in the country.

Publicity stunts, perversion and harassment: How attention seekers have harassed Neeraj Chopra for their 2 minutes of fame

0

There seems to be no end to the harassment that javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra had to endure after racking up a gold medal at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics. After Neeraj toughed out what appeared to be a brutally agonising video call with RJ Malishka Mendonsa and her female colleagues, he was subjected to harassment once again. This time, it was by a relatively lesser-known ‘Art Historian’ Rajeev Sethi, who presumptuously probed the Olympic Gold medalist with questions related to his sex life.

Naturally, such unwarranted questions had Neeraj at his wit’s end, with discomfort writ large on his face. He tried to navigate the uncomfortable question by sarcastically responding that his heart was overwhelmed by the question. It might have even led Chopra to contemplate if he had signed up for this Indian Express event to answer such deeply personal questions.

Nevertheless, the clip of the event when Rajeev Sethi inquires about Chopra’s sex life instantly went viral on the internet, with scores of people slamming Indian Express, the organiser of the event, and Rajeev Sethi for making the Olympic Champion uncomfortable with his prying questions.

Before asking the question, Rajeev Sethi exclaimed, “What a handsome young man you are!” Then he goes on to say that crores of Indians want to ask him something but are hesitant. Then he proceeds to ask, “How do you maintain a balance between your sex life and athletic training? I know this is a weird question.”

Uncomfortable with the question, Neeraj Chopra responded, “Sorry, sir. I have said sorry, you can know my answer from that.” Rajeev Sethi did not stop there and proceeded to elaborate his question in further detail, expressing a great desire to know more about the Gold Medalist’s sex life.

When the art historian attempted to apologise for the question, a disgusted Neeraj Chopra replied, “My heart is overwhelmed by your question.”

RJ Malishka Mendonsa of Red FM dances for Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra, asks him for ‘jhappi’

Now, this was not the first time that the athlete had to endure an unpleasant experience. A couple of weeks back, RJ Malishka along with her Radio FM staff broke out into an impromptu jig to the tunes of ‘Ude Jab jab zulfein teri’ and asked for an online bear hug from the Olympic Gold medalist.

In an exclusive interview with Chopra on the Red FM channel, Malishka was seen putting up a ‘dance show’ for him along with other staff members. Despite Chopra looking uncomfortable, the radio jockey and her team did not stop from gyrating to tunes of ‘Ude Jab jab zulfein teri.’ The Olympic gold medalist smiled awkwardly through the ‘performance’.

The radio jockey later even took to her social media accounts to gloat over the ‘performance’ she and her female office colleagues had performed during their interview with the Olympic Gold medalist, notwithstanding the possibility that Chopra might have been inwardly cringing and feeling awkward for what he had to put up with.

Before Malishka Mendonsa rose to prominence for objectifying Neeraj Chopra, Times Now journalist Navika Kumar had also become the subject of social media criticism after she kept on pestering the 23-year-old Olympian about his relationship status, prompting netizens to call her ‘gossip aunty.’

Rajeev Sethi consumed by perverse obsession to pry about Neeraj’s sex life

Weeks later, Neeraj found himself in a similar predicament after ‘Art Historian’ Rajeev Sethi asked him to elaborate on his sex life, asserting that crores of Indians are curious about it.

First of all, it is a bit far-fetched to claim that “crores” of Indians wanted to know about Neeraj Chopra’s sex life. It’s humanly impossible to survey billions of Indians in such a short span of time to seek what they want to ask from Neeraj Chopra.

In all probability, most of the people surveyed (assuming that Sethi might have sought questions to be asked to Neeraj Chopra on his social media accounts), would have been curious to know about how Chopra prepared for the event, what his thoughts were while participating in the competition and how he felt after winning a gold medal for the country.

The interview should have been restricted to exploring those facets of Neeraj’s life, not about a prurient inquiry into his sex life, which is, anyway his personal matter and not for the discussion of the entire world. Neeraj, or for that matter any athlete, alone holds the prerogative of discussing their sex life, if and when he or she feels comfortable sharing details about it.

In fact, in order to add credence to his intrusive question seeking details of Chopra’s sex life, Sethi cited the supposed inquisitiveness of billions of Indians who were allegedly interested in knowing about the athlete’s sexual matters.

Lesser-known ‘Art Historians’, Radio Jockeys leech off Neeraj’s fame and achievement

Whether crores of people want to know about something or not, journalists, webinar hosts, anchors, RJs and others don’t go around shedding their sedate behaviour and put their interviewees in awkward situations. What Sethi did to Neeraj was, without a shred of doubt, beyond the pale. And his response to the question, his body language, the sarcastic undertone of his response—all elicited how uncomfortable Neeraj was with Sethi’s line of questioning.

However, it seems that lesser-known ‘Art Historians’, ‘Radio Jockeys’ and other inconsequential individuals like to indulge in cringe-worthy and scandalous behaviour with popular celebrities, as a part of a publicity stunt to stoke outrage, which in turn helps them in catapulting themselves out of the abyss of obscurity.

Sethi’s pestering questions to Neeraj Chopra about his sex life appears to be an attempt by the ‘Art Historian’ to banish his state of obscurity and propel himself towards relevance. Fewer people knew about Rajeev Sethi before his interview with Neeraj Chopra. After the video clip of his interaction with the Olympian went viral, there are obviously more people talking about him than they were before the interview.

Neeraj’s professional life should be the focus, not his sexual life

Neeraj has brought the elusive Gold medal for the country. He even might be having a dashing personality. Some might even find him charming and endearing. But that is no sanction for the exploitative media and individuals to profit off Neeraj’s achievements by sexualising him and peppering him with questions he is visibly uncomfortable answering.

Perhaps, it’s time for the media and people like Sethi to shift their attention from prying too inquisitively about an athlete’s sexual life to the amount of hard work, dedication and practice he has invested in the sport to win a gold medal at the prestigious Olympics. This would not only save them from the ensuing embarrassment of making their interviewee uncomfortable, but it would also help in inspiring thousands of other athletes out there who are dreaming of representing India and winning a gold medal for her in the world’s largest sporting competition.

Hurun India released the Hurun India Future Unicorn List 2021 on September 2, 2021 which ranks start-ups founded in 2000s, with a worth of at least US$200mn, or INR 1,500 crores. India is listed as the third largest Unicorn system in the world with 51 Unicorns, 32 Gazelles and 54 Cheetahs.

According to the Hurun India Research institute, the Unicorns are those start-ups which are founded after 2000 and have a valuation of US$1bn, the start-ups Gazelles are expected to reach the Unicorn status in 2 years while Cheetahs are expected to reach the Unicorn status in 4 years. Regulatory filings and feedback are received from entrepreneurs, active India focused VC funds and angel investors.

According to Times Now, Hurun India report said, “Although the Indian start-up ecosystem is growing, some of the start-ups, who reach a certain scale migrate from India, in search for better regulatory incentives and risk capital availability. For instance, some of the best Enterprise SaaS companies are born in India but “flipped” to the USA. This is a lost opportunity for India and it is important that these start-ups are incentivized to stay back in the country.”

Anas Rahman Junaid, MD and Chief Researcher, Hurun India said on the matter, “Preparing the Hurun India Future Unicorn List 2021 has been one of the most daunting tasks, primarily due to the positive hyperactivity in Indian start-up ecosystems. For instance, 5 start-ups that we had as Cheetahs at the beginning of our research, jumped straight to Unicorn valuations. The list has inputs from India’s start-up investor ecosystem including some of the top VC funds and hence could serve as a good source for investors and family offices to understand more some of the most exciting start-ups in the country.”

He also added, “2021 also registered start-up IPOs, starting with Nazaara Tech, followed by Zomato and others who have filed including Paytm, Freshworks, Nykaa and so on. IPOs present exit opportunities for investors and encourage more Indian High Networth Individuals to allocate a meaningful portion of their investment into start-ups.”

“India is home to more than 600 million internet users and is expected to have 900 million users by 2025. The adoption of internet in rural areas will further compliment the rise of technology start-ups. Fintech companies operating in mobile payments, insurance, blockchain, stock trading and digital lending will grow further to capitalize the internet penetration,” Junaid said.
