On August 29, Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait went to the hospital to check on injured “farmers” who got injured in yesterday’s lathi charge in Karnal. Alongside, one man who drew the attention of several netizens was Virender Narwal, brother of Congress leader Surinder Narwal. Notably, Surinder Narwal held several posts in Congress party over the year. Currently, he is the President of the Karnal district Congress committee.

Who are Surinder and Virender Narwal?
Surinder Narwal is a Congress leader from Karnal. He is currently the President of the Karnal district Congress committee. He started his journey with Congress in 1997 as President of Block Congress Committee. He has been seen with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on some occasions.
Virender Narwal, who is often seen with Rakesh Tikait in a farmer’s attire, is a businessman. He not only deals in services related to showroom establishment under Narusons Sales Corp but also owns distributorship and chain of exclusive showrooms in South India. Their mother, Prakashvati Narwal, is Chairperson Zila Parishad, Karnal.
When we scrolled through the profiles of both the brothers, we found out that they have been a part of farmer protests for a long time. In May 2021, they installed black flags at Naruson House to show support for the farmer protests.

In March 2021, Tikait had visited Naruson House, owned by Virender Narwal, when he was doing panchayats in different villages to lure more farmers to join the protests.

Farmer protests
Farmer protests against the three Agriculture laws have been going on since September 2020, when the laws were enacted. In November 2020, protesters started to gather around Delhi and made makeshift tent cities to ensure they can stay and protest against the government for a long time. In the last nine months, the alleged protesting farmers have come under the scanner for many wrong reasons. From connections to Khalistani and Naxal elements to accusations of rape and sexual assaults have clouded the protests.
The most disturbing situation was created by the protestors who turned into rioters on January 26. On Republic Day, a group of rioters managed to enter Delhi from unauthorized route on the pretext of a tractor rally and hoisted two flags with the Sikh holy symbol on Red Fort. During the riots, over 300 police personnel were injured, and crores worth of property was damaged.
Swara Bhasker shared some photographs recently of the Griha Pravesh ceremony for her new house. The photographs showed her offering puja to the Gods in order to seek Their blessings for a new beginning. The photographs were quite odd given her political antics, but nonetheless, it was good to see her not completely abandon her Hindu heritage. It is not everyday that you see a liberal in India celebrating her Hindu heritage.
As sweet as the photographs were, it incurred the wrath of Ambedkarites and Communists who were incensed over the simple demonstration of piety. They seized upon the opportunity to peddle their anti-Brahmin and anti-Hindu agenda.
Source: Twitter
There is a litany of comments to that effect. Swara Bhasker is being accused of peddling the ‘Brahminism’ agenda, with declaration that ‘Brahminism’ would never die in India. Some also accused her of “normalising” casteism.
Source: Twitter
Source: Twitter
We are forced to ask here, what does performing Hindu rituals have to do with Hindutva if the latter is not merely convenient ruse used as an excuse to target Hinduism? What has Brahminism got to do with Hindu rituals if it is not a convenient excuse to attack Hinduism as a whole? The masks have fallen and even before the Covid-19 pandemic, falling masks are an ominous sign.
Source: Twitter
Some are comparing the photographs to Nazi propaganda. Imagine the morbid hatred for a minute here. A simple act of offering prayers to the Deity before beginning a new chapter in her life is being compared to Nazi propaganda. The holy trident and the Swastika is being equated with Nazism.
Such public display of bigotry against any other religion is not tolerated but when it comes to Hinduism, it is open season for one and all. And it is even encouraged in campuses at Universities, in the media and in the entertainment industry.
Source: Twitter
The comparison to Nazism is a recent phenomenon that has received extensive coverage in recent times. Attempts are being made to draw an equivalence between Hindutva and White Supremacy and as part of the initiative, they are directly targeting symbols considered holy in Hindu faith now.
Some went to the extent of labeling her ‘feminism’ as ‘Brahminism’ too.

The manner and the reason due to which Swara Bhasker was ‘cancelled’ provides good insight into what ‘Dismantling Global Hindutva’ essentially entails. Ambedkarites, Communists, Islamists, Christian evangelicals may claim that they are against a political ideology and not a religion but it is only a convenient ruse to cloak their actual sinister agenda.
If Hindutva were actually what they were against, why would they take objection to one of their own simply offering prayers to Hindu Gods and organising a Griha Pravesh ceremony? And there is no doubt about that, Bhasker here is one of their own.
She has spread fake news, denied obvious reality and shamelessly peddled all sorts of malicious agenda to undermine Hindutva but the moment she showed some semblance of pride in her heritage and offered prayers to Hindu Gods, she was ‘cancelled’.
It only goes on to show that peddling propaganda against the BJP is simply not enough, opposing Article 370 and CAA is not enough either. Tarnishing the reputation of Prime Minister Modi is only the most basic of expectations, and so is Hindutva.
The real litmus test to become a part of their group is to shed one’s identity wholesale and malign Hinduism in its entirety. Remaining attached to even the most peripheral aspects of Hinduism is considered betrayal. ‘Dismantling Global Hindutva’ is all hunky dory, right until the moment one decides to celebrate Hinduism. Then, that person will be ‘cancelled’ by the very people they sold their soul to.
We know this to be true because we have seen how that works out in the West. Hindu politicians and staffers of political candidates have been targeted precisely due to their faith and no attempt has been made to disguise the fact that the allegations were made solely because the person was Hindu.
We saw it when Islamists sitting in India targeted Hindus living in the Middle East over comments they made on social media and attempted to have them fired from their jobs and arrested. In at least one case, a Hindu was framed by Islamists with a fake profile and the personal, unfortunately, lost his job and spent two years in a jail in Saudi Arabia.
Again, we see the same hatred in operation when Swara Bhasker is attacked for performing rituals as per Hindu traditions and customs.

Days after a petition was filed with the Union Home Ministry against Tamal Bhattacharya, who was evacuated from Afghanistan, for praising the Taliban, a picture of him posing with the jihadists has now surfaced on social media.
The contentious image was shared by the petitioner Raj Chowdhury. In a tweet on Friday, he informed that the matter has been raised with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. “I had also filed one written grievance to Ministry of IT, Electronics against Tamal Bhattacharya who can be seen with Talibani Terrorists with gun AK47 and he is posing proudly with the terrorists. The Ministry of IT and Electronics has accepted this plea too for consideration,” Chowdhury tweeted.

In the picture, Tamal Bhattacharya could be seen smiling as he stared at the camera with presumably Talibs brandishing assault rifles. While speaking to OpIndia, Raj Chowdhury informed that his earlier petition has been accepted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. He added that Tamal Bhattacharya has been caught off guard after OpIndia exposed his fascination for the radical Islamist outfit. Without revealing his sources, Chowdhury alleged that Tamal has plans to flee India within a week’s time and move to Bahrain. He has called for immediate intervention by law enforcement authorities.
The story of Tamal Bhattacharya: From pleading for help to praising Taliban
Tamal, a 34-year-old resident of Nimta in the North Dum Dum area, was stranded in Afghanistan ever since the Taliban took control of the country. He had been working as a physics and chemistry teacher at an army school (Kardan International school) in Kabul since March this year. A mechanical engineer by training, Tamal was living in the staff quarters of his school. However, after the Taliban took over the city of Kabul, he was forced to lock himself up inside the principal’s residence.
He alleged to have contacted the Indian embassy and couldn’t reach the Hamid Karzai International airport despite several attempts. Later, he claimed to have reached the airport gate at 11 pm on Friday, only to be returned by the US security forces due to the absence of government officials and documents. He added that Talibs were surrounding the airport and had to spend the night in a nearby wedding hall. While speaking to Anandabazaar Patrika, he said, “Please inform PM Modi and Amit Shah so that immediate action is taken for our evacuation”
Eventually, Tamal was evacuated by an Indian Air Force (IAF) carrier along with 10 other Bengali residents. He boarded the flight late on Saturday night and reached the National capital on Sunday morning. On the same day, he returned to Kolkata via a flight from New Delhi. Tamal, who was successfully rescued by the Indian government from his perilous state, heaped praise upon the Taliban after reaching home.
As per a report in ABP News, Tamal Bhattacharya claimed that the Taliban has not only treated him well but also fed him good food. “They (Talibs) also played cricket with us,” he claimed. Tamal later hailed the radical Islamist outfit for being ‘trustworthy’. This is despite the fact that he had earlier pleaded with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to evacuate him immediately from Taliban-controlled Kabul. Tamal’s contentious claims found overwhelming support among the radical Islamists, who were seeking opportunities to whitewash the atrocities committed by the Talibs.
On Sunday, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) wrote a letter to Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh, seeking action against a Christian Pastor named Prophet Bajinder Singh, who was seen using a minor boy for carrying out forceful religious conversion activity.
In a letter to Chandigarh DC, Dharmendra Bhandari, the Principal Secretary to the Chairperson of NCPCR, has said that the child rights body has come across a video posted on Twitter that showed the pastor Bajinder Singh using a minor boy for unusual superstition activity. The commission noted that the minor boy was seen crying in the video, and the body language of both the prophet and the child seemed unusual.
On examining the said complaint, the NCPCR noted that it has come to the commission’s notice that several such videos are available on social media in the name of Prophet Bajinder Singh Ministries, The Church of Glory Wisdom, Chandigarh.
The NCPCR noted that prima facie it appeared that such videos promoted superstition and used children for such purposes, thus violating the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
Further, the commission also pointed out that nobody in the video was seen even using the mask and followed the social distancing norms, a violation of COVID protocol guidelines issued by the Government of India.
Therefore, the Commission has taken cognizance of the above under section 13 (1) (j) of the CPCR Act, 2005 and directed the Deputy Commissioner to inquire into the matter and furnish an Action Taken Report within the next seven days.
Conversion viral video ignites meme fest on social media
A few days ago, a video of Prophet Bajinder Singh and the minor boy had gone viral on the internet. The video had sparked controversy and fuelled a meme fest on the internet. The video appears to be from a Christian missionary event in which the minor boy was seen weeping profusely.
Then, a man, identified as Bajinder Singh, asks him if his sister could speak earlier. The boy answers in the negative. Then he is asked whether she could speak now, and this time he answers in the affirmative. The song that was playing in the background is “Mera Yeshu Yeshu”.
Late ….But still vibing on “Mera yeshu yeshu …Mera yeshu yeshu “?????Damn too hilarious ?? Behan bolne lagi ???? pic.twitter.com/CECearb9iv
The mannerisms of the boy, though comical, had evoked mixed reactions on the social media platforms. Naturally, a torrent of memes involving the video flooded social media websites. A lot of mashups were available on the internet with the “Mera Yeshu Yeshu” video.
“Mera Yeshu Yeshu” here basically translates to “My Jesus Jesus”. The song, quite obviously, was meant as a tool for religious conversion to Christianity. The video itself is likely from a Christian evangelical event where such hilarious scenes are frequently observed in the name of “miracles”.
As it turns out, “Mera Yeshu Yeshu” is actually a song from 2014, first uploaded seemingly by one Jo Mathew on YouTube. The song has typical elements of Bollywood item song numbers with a distinctive Arabic feel to it.
The United States of America – the self-proclaimed leader of the free world, has been hit by not one but two major crises. From facing humiliating defeat against a Jihadist outfit in Afghanistan to massively mishandling the Covid-19 crisis at home, the USA is at the brink of collapse.
On the one hand, the Afghanistan disaster has driven away all the political hegemony that the United States of America claimed to have carried all these years, while the Covid-19 disaster has exposed the myth of invincibility of the “first world” societies.
According to NBC News, the US has seen a sudden spike in cases due to the highly contagious delta variant. More than 1 lakh people have been hospitalised currently in the US, the highest in the last eight months. On average, the country saw a 12% increase in new cases over the past week, and deaths were up by 23%. The fresh infections have risen in 42 of the 50 states, while deaths are now increasing in 43 states – the worst tally since December, before America’s deadliest month of the pandemic.
In the last 24 hours alone, the United States of America has recorded over 1,50,000 fresh cases of Covid-19, and at least 1,100 deaths, the highest level since mid-March. The United States of America is facing its worst Covid-19 pandemic currently, with at least six states in the country running out of capacity to treat patients severely ill from the coronavirus.
Five other states — Arkansas, Louisiana, Hawaii, Mississippi, and Oregon- have all seen higher hospitalisation in the last few weeks. In Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Texas, 90 per cent of the ICU beds are occupied by the Covid-19 patients, according to data from the US Department of Health and Human Services. As Covid-19 cases continue to soar, the health infrastructure in the United States has started to crumble.
The state of Florida is one of the most hit with the pandemic as it is going through a major crisis as hospitals and funeral homes are running out of space to store dead bodies. The worst part is that Florida is facing a huge oxygen shortage, leading to fears of causing more deaths due to the Oxygen shortage.
In hospitals, mortuaries have run out space, and the hospital authorities are stacking the bodies one above the other to the ceiling due to the shortage of space. Reportedly, the staff is working day and night to honor the dead.
A report by the WION news suggested that Florida has recorded 1,51,764 new Covid cases for the week on Friday, reaching a new seven-day average of 21,681 cases per day, more than any other state in the US. More than half of the ICU beds in the state have been occupied by Covid patients.
#Gravitas | The western media is hiding a big story. The US is running out of ICU beds and oxygen. Florida may be out of oxygen in 24 hours- it recorded its highest daily deaths. Why isn’t the media reporting it? Because the US is not India.@palkisu calls out selective reporting pic.twitter.com/UdIVtzWf4e
On Thursday, Florida reported 901 Covid deaths, the highest since the pandemic began last year. On average, 227 people have lost their lives due to the pandemic on a day on an average this week.
According to the survey published by Florida Hospital Association, 68 hospitals in the state have oxygen supplies of fewer than 48 hours. In addition, oxygen demand has skyrocketed in the region with the rapid spread of the Delta variant of coronavirus.
The grave situation can be witnessed in other states such as Kentucky and Texas as increasing Covid hospitalizations has put pressure on the health infrastructure, especially on doctors and nurses. The intensive care units around the nation are filled with Covid-19 patients such that 77 per cent of the total ICU patients are Covid-19 patients.
Despite the high number of Covid-19 cases in the United States, the US media outlets seem to have found no courage at all to question the authorities over their failure to manage the pandemic in the country. The media outlets that were extensively reporting on the pandemic outbreak in other countries, especially India by predicting doomsday scenarios, have chosen silence over the failure of the “superpower” United States to handle the pandemic effectively.
Western media, Indian liberals predicted doomsday scenario for India, remains silent over Covid-19 disaster in the US
As India battled the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, western media outlets joined hands with India’s “liberal-secular” media ecosystem to unleash a concerted campaign to discredit the Indian government’s efforts to tackle the pandemic. In an effort to humiliate and discredit the country, the western media had come up with dubious research to imagine higher deaths in the country.
The foreign liberal media displayed a strange attitude while reporting on India. The Indian government was scrutinised to the most over its management of the pandemic, and India became the centre of attention for media worldwide. The western press focused on the deaths and captured images of funeral pyres to proclaim that India was one of the worst affected countries globally, thus creating a wave of “shock” among their non-Indian audience.

Here is another image that was published by Reuters to mock India during its Covid-19 sufferings.
To please the western press, the Indian “liberals” joined their vulture journalism by capturing images of funeral pyres, cremations to humiliate and disrespect their own country in the global fora. The likes of Barkha Dutt, deceased photojournalist Danish Siddiqui, who was killed by the Taliban recently, far-left websites in the country, excitingly worked towards bringing shame to India by overdramatising the deaths.
Several images of deaths and suffering were happily shared across the platforms to show how India was still a ‘third-world’ country and declared that India does not deserve the respect it gets. Sadly, the left-liberal ecosystem strived hard to bring a bad name to the country.
First, the colossal failure to save the living from covid, now the unforgivable refusal to count the dead. I write in @washingtonpost about the deeply shameful and flawed public morality of this moment and why it only will lead us as nation to more peril https://t.co/SPgkQkVxIw
Despite all their efforts, India put up a brave fight against the Chinese pandemic and also had to cope with a massive misinformation war initiated by the global left-liberal establishment.
However, it looks like all the ridicule and criticism of the western press over the mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic is limited to only “brown” countries. As the United States struggles to cope-up with the Covid-19 pandemic, neither the US media nor the Indian liberals have the courage to speak “truth to power”. They have conveniently chosen to ignore to speak about how the world’s alleged “superpower” has utterly failed in tackling the Chinese pandemic while India successfully stopped it.
Western media and their Indian “sepoys” looks other way
In contrast to their extensive coverage over the second wave of the pandemic in India, there has been almost zero coverage on the US Covid-19 disaster. Even as the US records over lakhs of fresh cases, not a single media outlet, both in the US or in India, have made it their primetime story to hold authorities in the country accountable.
The same media that shamed India by displaying dead bodies and funeral pyres has not even reported on the raging Covid-19 infections in the country. Not a single publication that was predicting “doomsday” for India a few months ago suggesting that the country would record over a million deaths due to Covid-19 is reporting the looming threat of Covid-19 in the United States.
Instead, the foreign press is trying to cover up for the humiliating loss of the Biden administration at the hands of the Taliban in Afghanistan by over-emphasizing on plain rhetorics.
Well, the whitewashing of Biden’s failures is not limited to the western media alone. Even Indian “journalists” have been attempting to gloss over the blunders committed by the Biden administration that has set dangerous chain of events in Afghanistan.
Barkha Dutt, who is accused of causing casualties on the Indian side as she gave away military locations in her broadcast during the Kargil war, has been doing extensive shows to discuss American withdrawal from the Afghanistan and the subsequent Taliban onslaught against the Afghan national government.
Strangely, Barkha Dutt or any other “independent” journalists who were speaking truth to power just a few months ago during the second wave of the pandemic have shown guts to question the same Biden administration on its failure to handle the Covid-19 crisis.
Well, it seems like all the heroics of the western “liberal” media and their cronies in India is just limited to trying to malign and humiliate the so-called “third world” countries, spread misinformation while completely ignoring the situation in their own countries.
IAS officer Lokesh Jangid, during the weekend, inadvertently found himself in the center of a controversy after asking a woman out on social media. While there did not appear to be anything creepy in his texts, a debate ensued on Twitter after the woman shared a screenshot of the messages on her profile.
Source: Twitter
Lokesh Jangid is the same IAS officer who fell victim to an alcohol related online fraud recently. He paid Rs. 17,000 for alcohol but the alcohol was not delivered to him. Consequently, a case was registered related to the matter in Madhya Pradesh.
Quite clearly, the IAS officer is not going through a very enjoyable period in his life. After the woman shared the private messages on her profile, it has sparked a serious debate regarding appropriate behaviour on the internet.
While some argued that Twitter is not Tinder, others were of the opinion that the IAS officer was only politely asking her out over tea and she could have just said no if she was not interested and moved on.
There is a flood of reactions by social media users on the matter.
This is why guys are afraid to express their feelings, he honestly asked you out if you are not interested just tell him and move on . https://t.co/WUu34FJ5e1
Okay wow. He just asked you really politely and what you're doing is embarrassing him just for internet clout? What a low life. https://t.co/ExVWAan2y3
The world is so over dramatic! There is nothing cheap about these messages. If you’re not interested then ignore and move on. Is this the first time you’ve been asked out? Is this why you’re showing off to the world? this behaviour of yours surely points to that. @criticpedagoguehttps://t.co/qR4FJzPJKo
What's the purpose behind sharing the SS. He wasn't being indecent or rude at all.. if you didn't like..just turn his proposal down. Why make a hue and cry? https://t.co/Emqe4WWov1
Idk what’s wrong with this? If you want to go, Say yes. If no, Say no. What’s the big deal? Posting a screenshot doesn’t make you cool. Civil servants also have a life, stop being so judgmental people. Please ask someone out is not a crime. https://t.co/NZvbmjab6r
To be fair, there does not appear to be anything untoward in the texts from Lokesh Jangid. He was being extremely polite and a gentleman while asking her out for a cup of tea. One could even argue that it is was a model text of how to ask someone out.
Some people have pointed out that he mentioned that he is an IAS officer but there is nothing wrong with it. It is only natural for a man to attempt to establish his credibility before a woman he seeks to impress. Also, it could very well be that the invite was not motivated by any romantic interest at all.
We are assuming that the texts were motivated by a romantic interest, and perhaps the woman did as well, but on the face of it, it could very well be that it was platonic and the IAS officer just wanted to make new friends.
Furthermore, there are texts which ooze creepy vibes and there are those that not. Jangid’s texts clearly fall on the latter category. For instance, a creepy way of asking someone out would be, “Hey bby girl, wanna go over for some tea??” On the other hand, “Would like to see you over a cup of tea somewhere in case you’re free and willing! :)” does not seem creepy at all.
But then again, the entire episode reveals the dark side of the internet. There are just no rules anymore. We are walking through landmines all the time. For instance, a couple of years back, the video of a woman abusing girls using vile language had gone viral on the internet.
After that, the woman herself became a victim of the worst sort of abuse and people called for her to be raped. The current instance is obviously nor comparable to that but the online rage mobs that can be instigated at the drop of a hat is a cause for concern for all.
A lot of people appear ever willing to expose others to rage mobs for the sake of online clout. This online clout industry has become a cause for much strife and is a threat to mental health. We are not accusing the woman here for sharing screenshots of private texts for clout but it is a behaviour we are all familiar with.
The worst thing that Lokesh Jangid can be accused of being guilty of is sending cringeworthy texts but cringeworthy texts are surely not a crime serious enough to crucify someone online. However, it is a good idea perhaps to avoid asking random strangers out for tea over the internet.
Not because there’s something inherently wrong with it but because there is always the risk that some lunatic could use the texts to embarrass someone online.
United States President Joe Biden courted controversy after a video of him allegedly ‘sleeping’ during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett went viral on social media. It must be mentioned that the concerned meeting took place between the two world leaders at the White House on Friday (August 27).
Republican leaders and social media users began speculating whether US President Joe Biden was indeed sleeping during the meeting. EHA News tweeted, “US president Joe Biden fell asleep during a press conference he held with Naftali Bennett. Bennett continued to talk while Biden was sleeping.”

Political strategist Chuck Callesto emphasised, “Joe Biden Caught SLEEPING During High-Level MEETING with Israel’s new prime minister Naftali Bennett…The Israeli Prime Minister Naftali looked DIRECTLY AT THE US PRESIDENT as if in disbelief…”
BREAKING REPORT: Joe Biden Caught *SLEEPING* During High-Level MEETING with Israel’s new prime minister Naftali Bennett…
The Israeli Prime Minister Naftali looked DIRECTLY AT THE US PRESIENT as if in disbelief…
A Twitter user, JD Sharp, criticised Joe Biden for allegedly sleeping during his meetup with the greatest ally of the United States i.e. Israel. “The 25th Amendment must be started by Kamala Harris and confirmed by Congress immediately.” It must be mentioned that the 25th Amendment allows the vice president to take up the role of President in case of his death, resignation or removal from office. Such a decision must be backed by a majority vote in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

However, according to CNN reporter Daniel Dale, the video of Joe Biden allegedly sleeping during his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is ‘nonsense’. He had shared the link of the video wherein it can be seen that the US President was actively participating in the meeting.
This “Biden asleep” stuff is nonsense. Joe Biden was seen talking, looking at his counterpart and only putting his head down when Bennett started speaking. The US President was also prompt in responding to the Israeli Prime Minister.
Biden was given the nickname ‘Sleepy Joe’ by former US President Donald Trump. The name of “Sleepy Joe” came from Trump’s suggestion that Joe Biden is suffering from a cognitive decline of his mental faculties.
Netizens slam Joe Biden for ‘disastrous optics’ on Afghanistan crisis
On Thursday (August 26), United States President Joe Biden appeared visibly frustrated on being quizzed about the death of 13 US Marines in a deadly terror attack at the Hamid Karzai International airport in Kabul. Without mincing any words, Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked Biden whether he was willing to take any responsibility for the Afghanistan crisis.
“Mr. President, there had not been a U.S. service member killed in combat in Afghanistan since February of 2020. You set a deadline, you pulled troops out, you sent troops back in, and now 12 Marines are dead. You said the buck stops with you. Do you bear any responsibility for the way that things have unfolded in the last two weeks?” he inquired. Joe Biden, who kept Doocy waiting till the end, fumbled as he was pressed with a tough question. The US President managed to get his act together and said that he bore responsibility for everything that had occurred ‘of late’.
However, he blamed former President Donald Trump for setting May 1 as the final date of exit for all US troops from Afghanistan. “This was a year before. In return, he was given a commitment that the Taliban will continue to attack others but not attack the American forces. After having comprehended the US President’s tactics to avoid answering hard questions, Peter Doocy emphasised, “Donald Trump is not president right now.”
Biden tried to interject and stop the Fox News correspondent halfway. At about 1:27 minutes into the conversation, he went on bend his head, close his eyes and rest his hands on the podium. It was evident that Biden was irritated with Doccy’s line of questioning. His gesture was widely criticised by the netizens for showcasing the US government’s weakness and incompetence in dealing with the situation.
Indian Railways is introducing a new category of coaches for its passenger trains, the Economy 3AC coaches, which are 3 tier AC coaches with an increased number of berths. Yesterday, the Railways had informed that the ticket price for Economy 3AC coaches will be 8% cheaper than the regular 3AC coaches. These new coaches will have 83 berths, against 72 berths present in regular 3 tier AC coaches, which has enabled the Railways to decrease the fare.
However, some reports on how the number of coaches has been increased have created confusion among people. On Sunday, a PTI report said that the new coaches will see the return of side middle berths to increase the number of seats. It said, “The regular 3AC coaches have two side berths, which will be increased to three in the new coaches.” The report was carried by several media houses. An independent report by Indian Express also made the same claim.
This had created confusion among several readers, who wondered why the Railways is bringing back a ‘dreaded feature’ which was earlier removed due to huge outrage from passengers. The side middle berth was originally introduced by Indian Railways in 2006, when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the union Railways minister. The coaches with additional side berths were added to Garib Rath, Mail and Express trains. This had increased the number of berths in the sleeper and 3AC coaches from 72 to 78, increasing revenue. However, this was a hugely unpopular move, as it had made travelling in the side berths very uncomfortable, especially on the side middle and upper berths.
Side middle berth in a coach
To accommodate the 3rd berth, the side upper berth was moved up, which already has lesser space due to the curved roof of the coaches. This has made climbing to the upper two berths very difficult. Due to massive protests from passengers, the side middle berth was removed from mail and express trains. But they were kept in the Garib Rath trains, as the fare for Garib Rath trains is much lower.
Therefore, it is unlikely that the Railways is bringing back the hated side middle berth. Earlier this year, the Railways had released photographs of the newly developed 3AC Economy coach, and the images make it clear that they don’t have three berths on the side. The newly designed coaches have increased convenience for the passengers, like individual AC vent in each berth, reading light for each berth, improved stair design for climbing up to upper berths, better designed foldable tables etc.
A compartment in the new Economy 3AC coach
Even though the number of berths has been increased, it was not done by adding the side middle berth. The Railways had earlier informed that in the new coaches, they removed the high voltage electric switchgear which is installed in the coaches near the doors. This equipment has been moved below the underframe of the coaches. Moreover, the storage space near the doors for storing bed linen has also been removed from the coaches.
The designers of the coaches also have used thinner composite materials for the partitions between the compartments. These measures have created additional space in the LHB coaches, which have enabled the Indian Railways to add 11 more berths. Therefore, the number of berths has been increased without compromising on passenger comfort, as the media reports are suggesting.
The mainstream media in India has always served as apologists for Islamic extremism. The media has always managed to find the light at the end of the tunnel when the ones bringing the darkness happen to be Islamic extremists. On this particular occasion, the offenders are people at Dainik Bhaskar.
Dainik Bhaskar, it appears, has taken us for fools and clowns. On Sunday, it published a report making an astonishing claim. The report claimed that all Hindus and Sikhs have left Jalalabad in Afghanistan but relations between them and the Muslim community are so great that Muslims are taking care of their business establishments for them.

We are being serious here, Bhaskar does want to us to believe that. They even quote one Muslim man as saying, ‘I daily update the owner of the clinic with recent developments. We believe that he will return once things improve over here. Until then, we will not let his business shut down.’
And the Indian Hindi newspaper bought into that fantasy completely. The complete and utter naivete of Bhaskar does call for a certain meme to be mentioned here.
The legendary meme is very appropriate in this context
Of course, the inspiration for the meme is a clip from a Showtime documentary where the journalist asks the Taliban whether they will have Democracy in Afghanistan and allow women to vote. But it is very applicable here.
It is quite clear what is happening in Afghanistan with the properties of Afghan Hindus and Sikhs that have been left behind. They are being taken over by local residents in the name of ‘looking after’ them. It is an inversion of reality that we are witnessing here and the media is helping whitewash the misery that has been heaped upon Afghan Hindus and Sikhs.
Does anyone really believe Afghan Hindus and Sikhs will be able to return to Afghanistan once things ‘calm down’? And what does ‘calm down’ mean in the context of Afghanistan? There has been civil war in the country for well over four decades now. Has any Sikh or Hindu who has come over to India ever return? Why would they even want to? The writing on the wall is obviously and yet, the media continues to take us for fools.
It is not even a new thing that is happening here. Whenever Hindus have been forced to flee due to Islamic aggression, their properties have been occupied by their neighbours and people they once thought they were on good terms with. It happened in Kashmir, it happened in Bangladesh and now it is happening in Afghanistan.
The media surely knows this and yet, it is arrogant enough to believe that they can get away with peddling such ridiculous narratives. The timing is quite fascinating as well. Whenever Islamic extremists unleash violence and hell somewhere in the world, the media rushes to manufacture ridiculous nonsense to somehow minimize the threat that it poses to world stability.
It is consistent with the way Indian media has conducted itself during the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. NDTV, for instance, provided platform to the spokesperson of the Taliban to peddle their agenda. At the same time, Indian liberals hailed the Jihadist outfit for holding a press conference.
Thus, it is not surprising at all that the industry which buys into Taliban propaganda also believes that local Muslims in Afghanistan are also ‘taking care’ of the properties of Afghan Sikhs and Hindus.
