5-year-old boy driving an SUV on Highway stopped by police in Utah, was going to California to buy a Lamborghini with $3 in pocket

A police officer in the western US of Utah was shocked to see a young boy aged five driving a car after he had asked the driver to stop. The car was being driven unevenly and the police officer didn’t see the head of the driver above the seat’s headrest so he thought it must be an impaired driver who is in need of a medical emergency.

The juvenile revealed that he left home after an argument with his mom after she refused to buy him a Lamborghini car. He left home with three dollars, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

The department further added that the boy took the car key from his home so that he could drive to California to buy a luxury sports car for himself.

Officer was stunned after seeing the minor driving

The police officer Rick Morgan pulled over the boy. Initially, he thought that the driver of the SUV is impaired and in need of a medical emergency. But he was shocked to see a minor driving this way. He didn’t expect what he found when he approached the car.

Morgan said, “I was pretty clear when the window came down that it was young, very underage driver that was behind the wheel. He was sitting on the front edge of the seat so that he could reach the brake pedal to keep the car stopped while I was standing there.” Morgan thought that the bit was 8 to 9 years old, but the boy said that he is 5. Later the family of the boy also confirmed that his age is five years only.

The boy said the trooper said that her sister live in California and he was trying to go to her house there. Morgan also said he was amazed that when the boy heard the siren he actually pulled over the car and stopped.

Video released by the department

In the dash cam video released by the Utah Highway Patrol, the SUV the boy is driving is seen weaving across the freeway as cars and semi-trucks drive past. The Child pulls over to the shoulder of the road after the police officer blows siren.

They tweeted that when his mother refused to buy him a Lamborghini, he decided he will take the car and go to California to buy the car himself. But the department noted that he might have been short on the purchase amount, as he only had 3 dollars in his wallet. Price of different models of Lamborghini ranges from more than $200,000 to more than $3 million in the United States.

The police department reached his parents who were said to be at work and left him in the care of his sibling.

The family said that the boy had not driven before, and this was the first time he did that. Lt. Nick Street, a spokesman for the Highway Patrol, said that it was “very shocking that a child, age 5, would know how to drive, get on the freeway and go the right direction to California to his destination.”

No one was hurt neither any property was damaged but still, his parents can face the charges, said the Highway lieutenant Nick Street.

As of Tuesday, no charges have been filed in the case, Lieutenant Street said.“The case is in the screening process,” he said, adding that the Weber County Attorney’s Office may file charges or give the case to a lesser court in Ogden.

Yogi Adityanath govt refutes Samajwadi Party’s allegations of caste bias for martyrs, reiterates it does not differentiate

The Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government took to Twitter to announce that it shall provide financial assistance worth 50 lacs and a government job to a family member of martyrs of the armed forces as well as paramilitary.

This policy of Yogi government also includes naming of a road in the native village after the martyr’s name.

Samajwadi party alleges casteism

The Samajwadi party alleged that the yogi government is discriminating on basis of caste while disbursing financial assistance for the martyrs. The Samajwadi party cast aspersions that the compensation was different for Colonel Ashutosh Sharma and CRPF Jawan Ashwini Yadav.

However, the UP government clarified that they, as does everyone in India, have immense respect for martyrs and there is no discrimination.

The controversy erupted when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the financial assistance of rupees 50 lakhs for the family of Colonel Ashutosh Sharma who laid down his life in counter-terrorist operation in Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir.

40 lakhs would be given to Army officer’s wife and 10 lakhs would be given to his mother Additional Chief Secretary, Avanish Awasthi told reporters.

CM’s office clarified that it has already been announced that in the case of the army and paramilitary forces financial assistance will be provided to the martyr’s spouse and surviving parents. A government job will be given to a family member and a village road will name after the martyr. Hence, these benefits will be given to the family of Ashwini Yadav of Ghazipur as per the policy of the government.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tributes to the martyrs of Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir. He wrote on Twitter, “Salute to the courage of Constable Ashwini Kumar Yadav, Constable C Chandrashekhar, and Constable Santosh Kumar Mishra. Your sacrifice for the nation is unmatchable. All of us are proud of you. Jai Hind!”

Kerala: Despite showing no symptoms, 2 patients remained coronavirus positive for over 40 days

As India fights hard to flatten the Chinese Coronavirus curve, the erratic behaviour of the Sars-CoV 2 virus continues to worry health officials. In one such case, a 62-year-old woman in Pathanamthitta, in central Kerala was tested positive for coronavirus 19 successive times. Despite all the symptoms disappearing, the woman tested positive for 40 days consecutively after she was admitted in the District General Hospital on March 10.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, she was a primary contact of a three-member family who had returned from Italy and tested positive on March 8.

While others who got the infection from the same family recovered and were discharged after two consecutive tests turned negative in two weeks, the woman continued to be under treatment at the hospital. Her test results continued to show positive for coronavirus.

“The 62-year-old woman, who contracted the diseases after she came in contact with the Italy-returned family, tested positive even after 19 tests. She is not showing many symptoms also. We tried combination drugs several times,” said Pathanamthitta district medical officer Dr N Sheeja. She said she has sought the advice of the state medical board in this regard.

Finally, 46 days after being admitted, the woman was finally discharged on April 24.

Similar case in Kerela where a man remains positive for 43 days

The Pathanamthitta district in Kerala witnessed another similar case wherein a 53-year-old man, who had returned from England in the United Kingdom, tested positive on March 25 and has been undergoing treatment since then. As per a report in The News Minute, it has been 43 days and the man’s samples are still positive for the virus.

According to Dr Nandini CS, the District Surveillance Officer of Pathanamthitta, his RT-PCR or reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results have been showing positive, but the man is asymptomatic currently.

As per the discharge criteria, two consecutive samples should test negative before a person can be discharged.

Meanwhile, the Pathanamthitta district officials are waiting for three more test results of the 53-year-old man. “If he is still showing positive, we will convene a medical board meeting to decide the next course of action,” said Dr Nandini.

Why are some coronavirus patients’ samples returning positive even after their symptoms have subsided?

When the coronavirus infects an individual, it invades the host’s cells and begins to incorporate its genetic material into the cells. The genetic material found in this particular virus is RNA (ribonucleic acid), which is similar to DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). When the host cell undergoes division, the viral genes are replicated too, thereby keeping the virus’ RNA active and circulating. Although a patient may not show any symptoms, there is a possibility that the fragments of coronavirus RNA remain in the body.

The World Health Organization (WHO) had prescribed a 14-day incubation period for coronavirus but Kerala had extended it to 28 days to ensure that an asymptomatic person or a patient is disinfected completely.

Web journalist Safiqul Islam threatened for reporting on Mamata govt’s grant to fake clubs, wife decides to stop the news venture

Sheikh Safiqul Islam, a journalist in West Bengal who regularly reports on the misconduct of the local administration on his web news channel of Arambagh TV, was allegedly been threatened by the administration in West Bengal. On the intervening night between the 5th and 6th of May 2020, around 30 to 40 men had gathered around his house and his family was threatened, his wife claims. The wife claims that she is not sure whether the men were from the Police or not. She said that they were targeted because of the news reportage of her husband. She said that the news venture will be abandoned given the severity of the threat to their lives.

The web channel is already facing police action as several FIRs have were registered against them last week.

The wife of Safiqul Islam said that she fears for the lives of her children and hence, the news channel will be abandoned. She says that it’s not the fear of her husband’s life that she has taken her decision but due to that of her children. she claimed that the goons banged on her door and terrorised her family and they could not sleep the whole night fearing for their lives. She says that Safiqul Islam has always spoken up for the truth and has never spread false news. She says that such things are not observed in other states but in Bengal alone. She also condemned the kind of politics that prevails in Bengal.

Late into the night, Safiqul Islam released a video on his YouTube channel which was made at his home. In the video, he says that a crowd of men had gathered near his house and he wasn’t sure whether they were policemen or goons. He said that attempts might be made to enter his home or arrest him. He also said that there was the possibility that he might be thrashed brutally. Safiqul Islam also said that he does not know how the night shall pass but hoped that his audience will continue to support him during such times of crisis.

The Arambagh TV had questioned the Mamata Banerjee government over making donations to various clubs in the state during the Coronavirus pandemic. The channel had shown the images and list of 59 clubs which were given Rs 1 lakh each, asking how many of them actually exist. The web channel had also questioned the mismanagement of the health crisis in the state. After that, several FIRs were filed against Safiqul Islam and reporter Suraj Ali Khan under several different sections of IPC at the Arambagh police station. Notices were sent to them informing them that they have been booked under sections 420, 468, 469, 471, 500, 505, 120B, but the notices didn’t mention the exact reason of the FIR.

It may be noted that even mainstream media houses like Anandabazar Patrika had also reported that names of fake clubs appear in the list of clubs granted money by the West Bengal government, but the Arambagh TV has been targeted for raising the same issue. Safiqul alleged that it was a conspiracy to close down his web channel. He asserted that they will not bow down to this atrocity and will fight it in the courts.

The Atrocious Conduct of West Bengal Government in recent times

The Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) had slammed the West Bengal government for its handling of the Wuhan Coronavirus crisis in its final observations regarding the state of affair. Apart from exposing the flaws of the Mamata Banerjee led government in handling the crisis, it also provided evidence of the state government fudging data. Prior to that, Mamata Banerjee decided to not give her approval to the Indian Airforce to shower petals over two Kolkata hospital on Sunday as part of a military gesture to show gratitude to the country’s corona warriors. The conflict has only risen between the Centre and the West Bengal government after the Mamata Banerjee-led government was angry over the centre for sending special teams to the West Bengal to take stock of the coronavirus ground situation. Health Experts have also alleged that the government was fudging data regarding the Coronavirus pandemic.

Angry drunk man in Karnataka bites snake into pieces after it crossed his path. Watch video

In a bizarre incident, an angry intoxicated man attempted to bite a snake into pieces for crossing his path when he was riding his bike. A video of the man biting the snake into pieces is doing rounds on social media.

According to the reports, the incident occurred in the Mustur village in Mulbagal, Kolar district of Karnataka. A 38-year-old man named Kumar was returning from a liquor store with a few bottles of alcohol on Tuesday. He encountered a snake as he rode back and then picked up the snake after it crossed his path.

He then wrapped it around his neck and rode in that condition for a while. After some time, he stopped in the middle of the road and began to bite the snake as passersby looked at him. Some even filmed and photographed the incident.

Man was angry after snake crossed his path

“How dare you block my path,” the man was heard shouting at the snake in the video. The video shows the man holding the snake around his neck as he starts to bite it.

BJP MP alleges that stranded migrant workers from Rajasthan stopped at Congress-ruled Chattisgarh border despite permission

On Wednesday, Devji Patel, MP from Jalore constituency in Rajasthan, has tweeted that migrant workers from Rajasthan have been stopped at the border of Congress-ruled Rajasthan, despite being granted permission by the Odisha Government. Citing harassment of the stranded people in the Congress-ruled States, Patel has asked for necessary intervention by the Rajasthan State Government.

The BJP MP uploaded a list of migrant workers who have been issued a vehicular pass to travel to Jalore from Rayagada in Odisha. The names of the passengers along with their phone numbers have been listed in the official order issued by the office of the Collector and the District Magistrate (Rayagada).

In another tweet, Devji Patel alleged that the local District Collector in Chattisgarh has demanded permits issued by the Rajasthan Government from the stranded migrants. He has urged Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, to either facilitate their return home or stop the drama of being concerned about stranded migrants.

Rajasthan Govt. charged train fares from migrants

Coming as a major embarrassment for Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, who made tall claims of paying for the migrant workers, the Congress-led government in Rajasthan has admitted to charging migrant labourers for the Jaipur-Patna Shramik Special train. According to a Times Now report, the Ashok Gehlot government has admitted of accepting money from migrants workers for their travel back to their native place. Later, after Sonia Gandhi asked state party units to bear the expenses, which were anyway to be borne by governments, Gehlot, to save the party fund, offered that the state government will pay for the migrants’ fares.

The MPLADS funds were a tool to appease MPs and keep a coalition government intact, read details

Ever since I started watching Bollywood movies, I would always see a corrupt politician and a failed system. Not in just one movie, but in every other movie. I would always think, is there no honest leader in the country? How did the system get corrupt? Was the system created to be like this or did it get corrupt over the years? I am sure a lot of people would have thought this.

Media is eyes and ears of a democracy. It is a duty of everyone who likes to refer to himself as a journalist, to highlight issues that are responsible for infecting a system. But unfortunately it has not been the case for long long time now. On the contrary, a lot of media houses are making it difficult for those who are trying to fix a broken system. For instance, before November the 8th, 2016 news headlines like “suitcases full of cash”, “room full of cash”, “loads of money found hidden in a politicians bedroom, boxroom, garage” etc. were common. All of a sudden after demonetization, headlines became- “corruption has nothing to do with cash“, “Cash is used by the poor“, “Black money is not in the form of cash.”

Media hypocrisy over MPLADS funds

Here is one more recent example of how Media is behaving exactly opposite to how it should be behaving. Before April the 6th, 2020 headlines were like “MPLADS breed corruption and should be abolished”, but as soon as the government suspended MPLADS for a couple of years, the news headlines are like “Decision to suspend MPLADS will hurt poor” and many more. It is simple, incite fear in the mind of a poor or an ill-informed person who unfortunately doesn’t have the willingness or enough ways to verify the headlines that are shoved down their throats by some.

Recently, the Modi Government cut the salaries of the MPs by 30% and suspended MPLADS for two years.

Now, the opposition is not complaining about the 30% cut in the salary but they are complaining about the suspension of MPLADS.

What is MPLADS and why are the opposition parties so upset about it?

Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) was introduced by Indian National Congress in 1993 at the time when it was trying to keep its coalition government intact. According to the scheme, every MP was entitled to Rs 2 lakh every year for the development of his/her local area. This was a kind of bribe paid at that time by the then ruling coalition to retain the MPs. The amount over the years increased to Rs 2 crores and today it is Rs 5 Crore per year per MP. Also, a similar scheme is available for the MLAs, however, the amount for them is between Rs 2 crore to Rs 4 crore, varying from state to state.

The governments so far have released Rs. 53,704.75 crores as of March 4, 2020. According to the same report, only 5,000 crores is unused and the rest is spent. Where did the money go? You might be inclined to say, it was for development and has been used for that. Is it?

Rahul Gandhi himself wanted this scheme to be scrapped before the general elections in 2014. It is quite interesting to see how politicians behave differently before and after elections. Take the example of his own conventional seat, Amethi. It has been a Congress bastion for decades. Before the 2019 elections, Mr Gandhi would have had at the very least infrastructure of worth Rs 65 crores to show in his report card. Was any of it there?

There have been books written on how MPs have been abusing these funds. Public Money, Private Agenda: The Use and Abuse of MPLADS by A Surya Prakash is one such book that provides a comprehensive look at this scheme.

Excerpts from the book:

“Assets” allegedly created under the scheme “could not be traced” by the surveyors; construction of community halls etc within religious places in gross violation of guidelines; construction of shopping complexes to promote private enterprise; diversion of computers bought for schools to commercial enterprises; supply of computers to private educational institutions; community centers built with MPLADS funds being commercially let-out by the beneficiary agencies; and repeat expenditure on a length of road via MPLADS after the very same contract has been “executed” under MLALADS – a similar constituency development scheme for state legislators.

The auditors have also come up with evidence which establishes fraud. Some samples of state- and district-level records showed misappropriation of funds in some states including West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Mizoram.

In Sikkim, funds from this scheme were used to construct anti-erosion bunds and walls to protect the private property of the MP and his relatives. Of 22 works sanctioned, all but one related to private property and in a dozen cases the contractors were also the beneficiaries. But, the biggest area of misuse is the allocation of these funds to trusts and societies, often controlled by the MPs themselves.

Diversion of crores of rupees from this fund to the coffers of private trusts, societies and NGOs, or to effect improvements in private property or to further the business interests of individuals, are infringements that warrant the severest action.

The nexus

Now you know why roads were getting built again and again in your neighbourhood, why and how private trusts and NGOs were budding in your city. And still, at the year-end, there were not enough roads. MPLADS were sure used for the development, but not for the constituency’s. The money does not come straight to the MPs account, it has to go through the district magistrate. Now, you can see how the nexus builds up; politicians, bureaucrats and contractors.

The Indian National Congress had made corruption a lifestyle in various ways. MPLADS is one of the many ways where corruption and bribery were legalized. The party has used the funds whichever way it found useful for the party. There have been instances where Congress has used the funds to promote its schemes like MGNREGA. Even the people who did not have a constituency to develop wanted these funds. Hamid Ansari, the afraid vice president raised havoc when he did not receive his share of the pie (after all he has the first right on the country’s resources, doesn’t he?), he wanted it even when he did not represent any constituency at that time.

I am not surprised when TMC MPs say “Don’t cut MPLADS instead take full salary”. An MP makes around Rs 3.3 lakhs in a month, You don’t need rocket science to see their desperation to save 5 crores by offering 39-40 lakhs.

What I am writing today is not new, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament and Planning Commission had termed MPLADS useless and corruption-generating. A TV-sting caught Parliamentarians taking a bribe to approve schemes to be funded through MPLADS. Even though the evils of this scheme were well known for years, why was it still running?

The policymakers in Congress must be laughing looking at us when we thought corruption is a middle-class businessman selling a thing at a higher price than the marked price or a traffic cop asking for 100 rupees. Tell me if I am wrong. Congress along with the media always promoted a bottom-up approach to fight corruption i.e. fix yourself first and the system will fix itself. In doing this, they successfully hid what they have been doing. Whenever a common man tries to raise a question, they will say look at yourself, it is who you pay the bribe, don’t pay.

Scrapping MPLADS

Congress would have never thought that there would ever be a government that would have the guts to get rid of this. Why? Because this would affect the ruling government more than the opposition. BJP today has the most number of MPs (303 in Lok Sabha and 83 in Rajya Sabha) and NDA even more. The senior leadership of the party would be in huge pressure from literally everyone inside the party as well as from outside the party. But the cabinet still went through with one of the most difficult decisions. Government by suspending MPLADS for only two years would be able to save around Rs 7900 crores.

Temporary or permanent?

However, the story is far from over. There is a reason why the mainstream media is not promoting this news on television. If this news is given a lot of air, the people would love it and the Modi Wave would be reinforced, this temporary suspension of two years would turn into a permanent suspension. Do you as a common citizen of India want a permanent suspension of corrupt schemes like these? If you do, it is one moment where you need to do something. What can you do? Since, media is not talking about it, we could do so. Talk about government suspending MPLADS on whatever platform you like, tweet about it, post it on Facebook, share this article. Make people aware of this. The government need people’s support. They can change the system only when they are the system.

When somebody is risking his political career for us, we can at least say “we are with you” Can’t we? Its a call for action. If we can’t act now, we should never complain about the system.

Delhi police arrests the class 12 admin of the controversial ‘Bois Locker Room’ Instagram group which glorified rape

The Cyber Cell Branch of the Delhi Police probing the controversial ‘Bois Locker Room’ Instagram group case has arrested the administrator (admin) of the group, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Though the police have refused to share the identity of the arrested person, saying it could lead to revealing the identities of the minors who were part of the group, which had attracted the ire of people for its inappropriate content, it said that the arrested admin is a Class 12 student at a school-based in NCR and had appeared for his board exams this year. He is not a minor, confirmed the officials.

Sources said that the accused also revealed the names of other group members who were involved in sharing obscene photos of minor girls and chatting about objectifying them during interrogation.

One juvenile apprehended in connection to ‘Bois Locker Room’

Earlier, the Delhi Police had apprehended a 15-year-old juvenile involved in the Boys Locker Room group case. The teenager was apprehended after cops discovered his registered phone number that was reportedly switched off. The police found that the boy had shared a picture in the Instagram group and reached his house after determining his address.

The cell phone of the juvenile has been recovered and is now being examined. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 465 (forgery), 469 (forgery to harm reputation), 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) and Sections 67 and 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

So far, 27 members of the group have been identified of which 15 have been called for questioning since Tuesday. The devices of the identified members of the group have been seized and sent for forensic analysis. The names of four South Delhi schools and one in Noida have surfaced in connection to the case.

“Bois Locker Room” Instagram chat group

Recently, social media was awash with repugnant details of an Instagram chat group comprising of boys that discussed ‘gang-raping’ girls in a group called ‘Bois Locker Room’ (Bois, being a spin on the word ‘boys’). The group allegedly ran by teenage boys, involved graphic sexualisation and sharing of private photos of underage girls, objectifying them and planning gang-rapes with minor girls. The petrifying incident came to light after a girl from South Delhi shared a screenshot on social media and busted the said group and a host of other such groups.
