The Delhi police have recovered as many as eight dead bodies from sewage drains, following the Delhi Anti-Hindu riots that were carried out under the pretext of “peaceful” Anti-CAA protests.
The first body recovered from the drains was that of Ankit Sharma, an Intelligence Bureau official who was stabbed 400 times for 4-6 hours, on February 26. Two more bodies were recovered on February 27 from Gokulpuri and Gagan Vihar. Then on 1 March, four bodies were found in Gokulpuri, Shiv Vihar and Bhagirathi Vihar. Another body was recovered from Bhagirathi Vihar Canal on March 2.
A situation of panic and fear have ensured among the locals after these dead bodies were discovered. Locals suspect that more dead bodies could be found in the drains in the upcoming days. The bodies are now floating up on the surface post decomposition.
Most of the drains in the violence-affected areas are covered with litter. Polythenes, paper and plastics can be seen floating above the water surface.
Delhi Police officials at the spots confirm that three bodies have been recovered today; one from a canal in Gokalpuri and two from Bhagirathi Vihar canal. #DelhiViolence
With this, the death toll in the Delhi violence has reached 45 so far. However, Delhi Police is investigating the matter whether the three bodies found on Sunday are related to the Delhi riots or not. The cops had said that whether these people were murdered during the Delhi Anti-Hindu riots could only be confirmed after the post-mortem.
87 people were shot down during the riots. These include the deceased and the injured. At the same time, around 300 people were injured with bricks, stones, sticks, and other sharp weapons. The cops had released this data based on the medical report prepared by the hospitals of the dead and injured.
36 cases had been registered under the Arms Act. Police had also recovered 39 weapons so far. At the same time, 75 rounds of cartridges had been recovered from the spot. The cops had raided a dozen places and recovered petrol bombs and bomb-making items. Hordes of bricks, stones, petrol bombs and acid were also found on the roof of suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain.
Farmers in Nindar village in Rajasthan ‘buried‘ themselves neck-deep in ground and took a ‘samadhi’ on Sunday to protest against land acquisition by Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) for a housing project. As per reports, the farmers have been demanding that their land is acquired as per the amended provisions of the Land Acquisition Act and they are given compensation accordingly.
As many as 21 farmers, including five women took the ‘samadhi’. Earlier, the farmers had called ‘Zameen Samadhi Satyagraha’ in January but called off the protests after four days as Congress-led government in Rajasthan promised they would address the concerns in 50 days’ time. The farmers say that the Congress had earlier supported their protests but hasn’t agreed to their demands once forming the government.
In October 2017, too, the farmers had protested against land acquisition by JDA and even went on a hunger strike.
As per reports, the JDA took possession of 600 bighas of land and deposited Rs 60 crore in local court as compensation. However, the villagers refused to accept the amount stating that it is not commensurate with the current market price. The scheme was announced back in 2011 where about 10,000 houses were to be built.
Shekhar Gupta’s The Print is often keen on breaking its own records in stupid, clickbaity pieces claiming to be investigative articles. Recently, it published an article titled “Modi govt’s ministers prefer Oxford, Harvard for their children’s education and not IIT, IIM”
Article in The Print
The headline makes a sweeping generalisation claiming that ministers in Modi government’s cabinet send their children to study abroad, ditching IITs and IIMs in India. However, there lies a problem in the headline. IITs are for Engineering degrees and IIMs are for management. It is not understood why would students pursuing degrees in law, economics and journalism would go to IITs and IIMs.
The article then reveals the basis upon which it is resting its sweeping generalisation about ‘children of Modi government ministers’. We read that 12, yes, only 12 out of a total of 56 ministers, less than 25% of them, have children who have obtained degrees from abroad.
The article goes ahead to list the names, professions and educational degrees of the children of cabinet ministers. However, another pattern emerges here, most names mentioned have degrees in law, economics and some, like Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s daughter Vangmayi, have degrees in journalism. It is not clear why and how the writer, or the editor, assumed that people who had wanted to pursue careers in these fields would have considered IITs and IIMs as their institutions of choice.
Shekhar Gupta then went a step ahead and shared the article with another dramatic text. Gupta claimed, “While they preach Swadeshi and Hindi mediums for the rest of us, How Modi govt ministers prefer Oxford, Harvard for their children’s education and not IIT, IIM.”
Shekhar Gupta via Twitter
Well, the last we knew, IITs and IIMs had English as their teaching medium, not Hindi, like most of the institutions of higher education in India. And even in a broader sense, while the PM and many of the prominent leaders do emphasize the importance of Hindi, Sanskrit and regional languages, no one has ever heard the government say that people should make their children leave English medium schools, colleges and enrol them in Hindi medium. Even the central government’s Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas teach primarily in English, with options of Hindi medium available in certain cases and subjects for students who prefer it.
As if the cheap clickbait and gross misrepresentation were not enough, the article seems to have failed in maintaining the correctness of basic details too. Vangmayi Parakala, a journalist working in The Hindu, had called out Shekhar Gupta’s claims with a note. Vangmayi wrote that she had obtained her BA and MA degrees from Indian universities and after working as a journalist in India for a few years, had obtained a degree from Northwestern, one of the world’s most prestigious schools for journalism.
Vangmayi Parakala via Twitter
Vangmayi wrote that had Shekhar Gupta’s reporter bothered to check her LinkedIn profile, he would have known that she had done her graduation and post-graduation both from the DU. She added that she had chosen Northwestern for higher education to sharpen her skills as a journalist.
Vangamayi Parakala also reminded Shekhar Gupta that she works in an office just two buildings away from his and drinks ‘chai’ at the same streetside shop as his reporters. She added that her drive to better her professional skills comes from wanting to write in and about India. Vangmayi added that Gupta and his reporter hinging her family’s ‘Swadeshi’ ideals on only one of the three degrees she holds, while ignoring the other two is stretching it. Parakala added that while she understands the pressure of a digital newsroom, she is disappointed.
As said above, The Print does have a habit of attempting to build tall towers of clickbait over very thin, or virtually absent ice. Last year, they had claimed that Indians have become so poor that they had stopped buying underwear. The basis for their claim was a rather vague generalisation which indicated while major underwear brands are still showing growth, the growth levels were not as good as they expected.
The Print has even been accused of inventing quotes and statements on their own and attributing them to people of their choice. Recently they had even invented a quote and attributed it to FM Nirmala Sitharaman herself. They had removed the article after the FM called out the ‘calumny’.
On Monday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he is contemplating quitting social media from Sunday. He said that he is considering deleting his Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts. Soon after the announcement, social media was abuzz with speculations on what could be the reason behind the mystery tweet. Is Prime Minister Modi really quitting social media?
Beacon of positivity and hope, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor thought that Prime Minister Modi quitting Twitter could be a prelude to ‘banning’ these services across India.
The PM’s abrupt announcement has led many to worry whether it’s a prelude to banning these services throughout the country too. As @narendramodi knows well, social media can also be a force for good & for positive & useful messaging. It doesn’t have to be about spreading hate. https://t.co/B87Y7Mc32a
Meanwhile, Aurangzeb sympathiser who spends her waking hours painting the barbaric Mughal emperor as a fluffy bunny thought PM Modi quitting Twitter was the best news of 2020.
Pakistanis, too, could not help echoing the Indian ‘liberal’ ecosystem. Pakistani journalist, in tune with our ‘liberals’ suggested that PM could keep his Twitter but instead give up his prime ministership.

What exactly is PM Modi’s plan for Sunday and his social media accounts, only time will tell. But with that one tweet, PM Modi has again set the ball rolling.

On 27th February, special flights from both the Air Force and Air India were flown to Wuhan and quarantined cruise ship Diamond from Japan. Union Minister Dr. Harshvardhan has repeatedly asked people to not travel to China, Iran, South Korea and Singapore unless it’s extremely important.
Even as the situation in Delhi limps back to normalcy, the ravaging anti-Hindu pogrom engineered by fanatic Muslim mobs has left deep scars on the psyche of Hindu victims, especially women. Speaking to OpIndia, one of the woman eyewitnesses laid bare the horrors of the atrocity meted out on Hindus in Karawal Nagar.
“Were it not for the drain here, I do not know what would have happened to us and the Hindu women over here. They(Muslims) knew it beforehand that something untoward was going to happen. At 11 am in the morning they got their children back home. We(Hindus) were not aware of anything. We brought our children home at around 1:30 pm when the situation began to exacerbate,” a Hindu woman who witnessed the violent anti-Hindu riots in Karawal Nagar said to OpIndia.
“उस दिन अगर मंदिर के पास वाला ये नाला नहीं होता तो दंगाई मुस्लिम भीड़ घरों में घुस कर हमारी इज्जत लूट लेती।”
“प्रधानमंत्री जी, हमारी रक्षा कीजिए। हम सब डरी हुई हैं। हमें रात-रात भर जागना पड़ रहा है, ‘वो’ फिर से न आ जाएँ।”
“Everything was thought-out in advance. They(Muslims) knew about the riots from the last several days. There were slingshots and ropes targeted at DRS school(Hindu school) from the Rajdhani School(Muslim school). How did they come there? These guys(Muslims) just wanted to show that they have been attacked but in reality, Hindus have alone bore the brunt of the riots,” the woman added.
“Muslims went and collected their children from school beforehand. We got know of the situation quite late. How did they know that something is about to happen? Because they knew about it,” an eyewitness said.
Rajdhani school, which is owned by a Muslim was turned into a fortress from where the Islamists launched attacks in the area. Rioters were given protection and shelter in that school. It is from this school that stones were pelted, guns were fired and petrol bombs were hurled. On the rooftop of this school, our reporter found several slingshots that were used to hurl heavy stones and petrol bombs. Hindu school of DRS was gutted in the attack by the murderous Islamist mob.
When asked if there’s still an atmosphere of fear in the locality, the woman along with others replied in the affirmative. They said that they are having sleepless nights as they fear riots to recrudesce. “We send our children inside the house. They(Muslims) throw stones at small children. They carry all kinds of arms whereas we are unarmed,” the woman said.
A Dalit woman said that Muslims come and threaten them that they will destroy their houses but no action is taken against them. If the men of the houses did not stand guarding us, the rioting mob would have entered their homes, women say. Another woman further added, “Hindu men have a job to attend to whereas their(Muslim) men remain in the house. Till what extent can the Hindu women expect to put up a fight with these armed (Muslim)men?”
The woman claimed that it was the well-planned strategy of Muslims, devised about a month ago to instigate riots across the National Capital at a time when the US President Donald Trump was on his visit to India. “They were not going to get the order(CAA) revoked. So they decided to coincide the riots with the US President Donald Trump’s visit to India,” she said.
Prime Minister Modi today took to Twitter to announce that he is contemplating quitting social media accounts. In a tweet posted, PM Modi said he is thinking of giving up on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.
This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted.
The young couple from Surat had to abruptly call off their wedding when the groom’s father had eloped away with the groom’s mother in January 2020. The older couple finally came back after a few days but it is now being reported that they have eloped yet again.
The 49-year-old groom’s father was reconnected with his longtime old neighbour, the 46-year old bride’s mother after their children decided to tie the knot. Both of them lived close to each other in the Kartargam neighbourhood of Surat and harboured a strong liking for each other. Their mutual fondness nudged them into running off to an undisclosed location in January, days ahead of their children’s marriage.
The elder couple was confronted by both the son and the daughter for their action and the children expressed their disappointment for the unfortunate turn of events. It is after confrontation that the duo eloped away for the second time, leaving their children in limbo.
The older couple, who according to their family members were high school sweethearts, had this time ran away to Nashik.
Earlier when the duo had ran away, their family members had lodged two separate missing complaints. When the duo finally showed up, they were confronted by their families. Realising that their relationship won’t be acceptable to their respective families, the two decided to elope once again and are refusing to speak to their families.
Meanwhile, the younger couple is distraught about their marriage since they face the threat of essentially becoming step-siblings if their parents decide to get hitched.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced compensation being granted to the family of the IB sleuth Ankit Sharma who was reportedly dragged by a murderous Islamist mob inside AAP corporator Tahir Hussain’s house and was later found lifeless and abandoned in one of the ditches in Chand Bagh.
However, Kejriwal’s tweet announcing the same ruffled a few feathers. Apologists of barbarous Islamists descended on Kejriwal’s timeline, criticising the Delhi chief minister for indemnifying Sharma’s family for their colossal loss.
Habitual fake news peddler, Ashok Swain, who proclaims himself to be a ‘professor’ and whose unmitigated hatred for Hinduism knows no boundary, made a snide remark against Kejriwal to express his disapproval of his decision to compensate Sharma’s family. In a pejorative tweet, Swain described Kejriwal as “Modi minus cow”, once again failing to conceal his contempt for Hindus.
Karnataka Congress social media head Srivatsa too criticised Kejriwal for not treating IB sleuth Ankit Sharma on par with others who died in the riots.
What about Faizan who died after being shot and then beaten by Delhi Police?
What about the remaining 40 or so victims?
Family of Ankit Sharma deserves as much compensation as the state can give but so do the others.
Another Twitter user Shruti Chaturvedi raised aspersions asking why Kejriwal has differing standards of granting compensation for Ankit Sharma and Faizan. Comparing an alleged rioter Faizan to a conscientious IB officer Ankit Sharma, Chaturvedi expressed her disapproval asking why Faizan’s family is getting 10 lakhs and Sharma’s family Rs 1 crore.
How tf is cost of life SO different? Why is Faizan’s life, who succumbed to the injuries given by the police, priced at INR 10 Lakh (tentative), while Ankit Sharma’s at INR 10000000?
One more Twitter user operating a parody account of scam-tainted RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav responded that Kejriwal’s true colours have now come out in open, accusing Kejriwal of being an RSS stooge.
संघी अरविंद केजरीवाल का आखिर खाकी चड्डी दिख ही गया
Well played ??
— Lalu Prasad Yadav (Parody) (@ModiLeDubega) March 2, 2020
Propagandist masquerading as journalist Zakir Ali Tyagi questioned Kejriwal’s selective populism in compensating Sharma’s family with Rs 1 crore while remaining mum on “deaths of Aamir, Danish, Hashim, Mohsin and about 50 others”.
Self-proclaimed fact-checkers who now depend on ‘WhatsApp conversation’ for fact-checking called compensation to Sharma a ‘populist’ mantra.
Hello @ArvindKejriwal, have you heard of the person who died after being beaten-up by police? Kindly announce the compensation of 1 crore for all those who have been killed in the riots. Unless, of course selectivity and populism is your mantra now. https://t.co/IaJfTA0BK0
It is noteworthy to mention that Delhi had been in the grips of violent Islamist rioters who coordinated and meticulously schemed to launch an attack on Hindus. Bloodthirsty mob perched atop AAP corporator Tahir Hussain’s house vandalised a Shiva Temple in their neighbourhood. The same mob dragged and allegedly killed IB sleuth Ankit Sharma. The Muslim mob is also accused of wantonly attacking a Hindu house where marriage preparations were underway.
In Shiv Vihar of Karawal Nagar, one of the areas hit by the ugly communal riots, Muslim locality stood unsullied and pristine while the Hindu shops in the neighbourhood were either burnt or blown to pieces. In one other instance, an eyewitness claimed that a Muslim rioter killed during the rioting was taken to his house, instead of hospital, to portray him as a victim of the riots to obtain government compensation.
Despite various eyewitness accounts confirming involvement of Islamists in the riots, apologists are attacking Kejriwal for not treating the rioters on an equal footing with the IB officer Ankit Sharma who lost his life fighting the very same Muslim rioters.
