Coronavirus reaches national capital, Delhi registers its first positive case

Delhi has registered its first positive case for coronavirus.


As per a press statement released by Ministry of Health, two new cases of COVID-19 have been detected. One individual from Delhi and one from Telangana have tested positive for the deadly virus which has claimed thousands of lives in last few months. The person who tested positive for the virus in Delhi has a history of frequent travels to Italy. Telangana resident is a frequent traveller to Dubai.

Both are currently stable and under observation.

The deadly virus has claimed lives of over 3,000 people in China while over 50 have died in Iran and 30 in Italy. A total of 888 people have reportedly been tested positive in Italy while the number is pegged to be almost 90,000 worldwide.

Day ahead of the scheduled execution of the four convict rapist-murderers in the gruesome December 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape case, Delhi’s Patiala House Court has stayed the execution and deferred the matter as mercy petition of Pawan, one of the convicts, is pending before President Kovind.

Earlier today, preparations were underway at the Tihar Jail in Delhi for the execution of Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder convicts, which was scheduled to happen at 0600 on March 3, 2020. The executioner Pawan Jallad had reached the Jail premises on Sunday evening and examined the hanging house.

On reaching the jail, Pawan was taken to Jail number 3 where he inspected the hanging house for over 30 minutes. The main doors of all the barracks were closed as the executioner reached the jail precincts. The path leading to the hanging house was evacuated for Pawan’s visit. At the hanging house, Pawan climbed the platform to ensure that there is no rust surrounding the lever. He also saw the dummy prepared for execution. According to jail officials, the executioner will conduct a death sentence trial on Monday.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court of India today junked the curative petition filed by one of the accused in the Nirbhaya gang-rape case, Pawan Gupta. Gupta was the only one amongst the four convicts in the gang-rape and murder of a 23-year-old medical student in Delhi dubbed “Nirbhaya” by the media who was yet to exhaust all his legal remedies. Gupta urged the top court of reducing his sentence to life imprisonment citing his juvenility at the time of committing the crime. However, the court dismissed his plea.

Hours after the apex court rejected Pawan Gupta’s curative petition, he filed a mercy petition before the President. The mercy petitions of the three other convicts – Mukesh Kumar Singh, Vinay Kumar Sharma and Akshay Kumar – have already been dismissed by the President.

On the other hand, the victim’s mother called out the dilatory tactics employed by the convicts. “They are misleading the courts, they are violating the law. There are some instances when one is forced to question our country’s judicial system but I still have faith in it. I am sure the convicts will hang tomorrow,” the victim’s mother said after the Supreme Court rejected Pawan’s curative petition seeking a change of his sentence from capital punishment to life imprisonment.


As per the latest reports, the Pawan Gupta’s lawyer had moved a mercy plea to the president, expecting a stay on the execution. Since his plea was pending before the President of India, the execution of all four convicts has now been stayed.

The 23-year-old paramedic student, referred to as Nirbhaya, was gang-raped and brutally assaulted on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012 inside a moving bus in south Delhi by six persons before being thrown out on the road. She eventually succumbed to her injuries on December 29, 2012, at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.

The top court in its 2017 verdict had upheld the capital punishment awarded to them by the Delhi High Court and the trial court.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced compensation of Rs 1 crore to family of IB official Ankit Sharma, who was murdered by a rioting mob in the national capital last week. A member of his family will also be given a job by the Delhi government.

Ankit Sharma’s autopsy report had revealed the horrific brutality that was inflicted on him before his body was dumped in a ditch behind the house of AAP leader Tahir Hussain. The autopsy report said that Ankit Sharma was stabbed over 400 times, and his body had been mutilated beyond belief.

Sharma had stab wounds all over his body and not even a single portion of it was spared. He was stabbed for hours, four to six hours, by possibly as many as six individuals together, according to the report. Moreover, his intestines were ripped apart, said the autopsy report. Forensic doctors have reportedly said that they haven’t seen such nightmarish mutilation in their lives. The report said that the body had “multiple abrasion.. deep cut.. by sharp edge objects”.

The panel of doctors, who carried out post mortem, had clearly stated that Ankit Sharma was brutally and repeatedly stabbed, which had caused his death.

According to the multiple eyewitnesses accounts, along with Ankit Sharma, there were three other people too who were dragged away by the frenzied Muslim mob inside Hussain’s building. However, one of them managed to make a miraculous escape and perhaps dodged an excruciating death. OpIndia got in contact with this escapee to seek more details about the gory incident.

The minor boy, who was successful in rescuing himself, laid bare his experience in chilling details about the carnage unleashed by the Muslim mob sheltered inside now expelled AAP leader Tahir Hussain’s building. “They were dragging us inside the building. I somehow evaded their grip and extricated myself. But when I looked back, all three were missing,” the boy said in a trembling voice while referring to the three people including Ankit Sharma who were dragged inside Hussain’s building by the murderous mob.

IB sleuth Ankit Sharma’s mutilated body was found abandoned in a drain at Chand Bagh.

Ravinder Sharma, the father of IB official Ankit Sharma had divulged that his son had gone missing along with his two friends on Tuesday, soon after he returned from work around 4.30 pm. Pinning the blame on AAP councillor Tahir Hussain and his men for the death of his son, Kumar alleged that his son’s body was thrown from a mosque into the drain.

Speaking to OpIndia editor Nupur J Sharma, Ankit’s brother Ankur also divulged the chilling sequence of events that led to the brutal murder of his brother. He said that the Muslim mob had dragged Ankit to Tahir Hussain’s house, the AAP corporator. While Ankit was being dragged inside by the Muslim mob, from the 4 storey building belonging to Tahir Hussain, stones started raining down on everyone below.

In fact, it was not just stones that rained down. Ankur says that along with stones, petrol bombs and even gunshots were being rained own by the Islamists from inside Tahir Hussain’s building.

According to Ankur, this was being done so nobody would attempt to rescue Ankit. As soon as Ankit started being dragged inside the house, Hindus ran to rescue Ankit, however, they were fended off by the rain of stones, petrol bombs and bullets.

“Unhone Ratan Lal ko bhi maara, DCP ko zakhmi kiya, ye log police ke logon ko maar rahe hai. Ankit ne apne aap ko IB officiial bataya, isiliye maar giraya”, Ankur said.

As it has emerged, AAP Corporator Tahir Hussain is smack in the middle of this brutal saga where Ankit, a young, dedicated IB officer was brutally murdered. Eyewitnesses have said that Ankit Sharma was dragged in the house that belongs to Tahir Hussain, AAP corporator, by a Muslim mob along with two others. Images and footage of Tahir Hussain himself wielding a laathi have emerged along with the rooftop of his house, littered with stones and petrol bombs. The roof of his house was used by hundreds of Islamists to throw stones and petrol bombs on people in the area.

An FIR has been registered against Tahir Hussain under section 302(a) of the IPC for the murder of Ankit Sharma, on a complaint filed by Ankit’s family. The AAP ex-councillor reportedly went missing immediately after the complaint was filed against him and is still absconding.

On Sunday, the official Twitter handle of Gurugram Police informed Netizens that two out of the group of Muslim men who were seen issuing violent threats to Hindus using extremely vulgar language apprehended from Jaipur, Rajasthan.

In a reply to the Haryana Chief Minister, Gurugram Police tweeted, “Respected Sir, Cyber police Gurugram took immediate cognizance of the matter, registered an FIR and conducted a thorough investigation. We have identified the accused and arrested two of them from Jaipur, Rajasthan today.”

In the wake of the anti-Hindu riots in Delhi, where Islamist fundamentalists ran amok engaging in arson, stone-pelting and vandalism, brutally assaulting and killing the Hindus in the national capital, a group of Muslim youths recorded a video message in which they blatantly hurl abuses at the Hindus. They are not only heard using extremely offensive and crude language against the Hindus but openly threatening to rape the Hindu women.

Earlier, columnist Advaita Kala had reached out to the Harayana CM on Twitter urging him to direct the cops “to respond and solicit tips on these posts (that attempted at fuelling violence in Gurugram) and update action.”

She also said, “We are proud & grateful that the city has not seen violent protests, blockades & riots & communities are living in peace.”

A carefully crafted strategy is in force in Delhi. Muslim women are made to sit on dharna in the name of CAA protest so as to project the community as law-abiding and peaceful. However, behind the veneer of dutiful and peaceful protests, a nefarious intrigue is underway which has managed to escape the beady eyes of Delhi Police. As a result, many unsuspecting Hindus fell victim to Muslim treachery.

While a concerted attempt is being made by many in the media to whitewash the crimes committed against Hindus and portray the aggressors as victims, it is important to look at the origins of the riots. In most cases, Muslim strongmen or regional MLAs have spearheaded the pogrom against Hindus by enabling the enraged Muslim mob and providing them with the wherewithal to indulge in the act of savagery against Hindus.

However, while the Muslims have been instigators in many riots across the North-East Delhi, they have been shrewd enough to cast themselves as victims to receive government compensation. There were many instances where the rioters have weaved stories of their innocence and victimhood and held back the bodies of the deceased for more than 24 hours to prove the person a victim of riots and claim compensation of Rs 10 lakh from the Kejriwal government.

One such story is that of Delhi’s riot-affected area of ​​Jaffrabad. On Monday, the seventh day of violence that started from Chand Bagh in the name of CAA protest, OpIndia team reached the house of the deceased Rahul Thakur. We were seeking information about the incident when the person living in the neighbourhood who came to console the family of the deceased Rahul Thakur claimed, “The violence had erupted in Chand Bagh and Karawal Nagar area since Monday morning. Thousands of Muslims gathered in the mosque in Mustafabad area for the afternoon prayers, which was also attended by the regional MLA Haji Yunus. After the prayers are over, the MLA takes his car and leaves the mosque. But soon thereafter, a crowd of thousands emerging from the mosque robbed the acid factory and liquor shops and armed with rods, sticks, guns etc. marched forward to attack the Hindus.”

The eyewitness further goes on to say, “A fellow Muslim rioter died in the attack led by thousands of Muslims. However, the rioters instead of taking him to the hospital took him to his home. The body of the deceased rioter remained in his house for about 24 hours until the Kejriwal government announced compensation for those killed. As soon as recompense was announced, an ambulance was called and his body was sent to the hospital for post-mortem. The body is buried after the autopsy was completed.”

The most logical question now arises is how could those who conspired against Hindus and made elaborate plans and schemes to instigate riots, be treated as victims of those very riots? It is also notable to mention that while a mosque in Brijpuri area stands pristine and untouched, the Shiva temple in the area was not only attacked but also vandalised by the rioters. Several such stories highlighting the dichotomy have now come out to the fore, reinforcing the belief that Hindus were indeed the subject of the Muslim mob’s target. This proves it beyond doubt that this ‘war’ was never waged against the CAA, but against the Hindus.

Dinesh Kumar Khatik was one of the individuals killed in anti-Hindu riots in Delhi. OpIndia had a conversation with Dinesh Kumar Khatik’s brother Suresh and he clearly said that his brother’s life has been taken by jihad – the jihad of Islamic fundamentalists. He said that the whole of Mustafabad killed his brother. By Mustafabad, he meant a Muslim dominated area. This is how the gruesome murder unfolded.

Dinesh Kumar Khatik is survived by his wife and two children. The elder son is seven years old while the younger is one and a half years old. He had gone to get milk for his two children on the 26th of February and due to the closure of shops, he had to go farther. During this, he passed by the school of Faisal Farooq. While he was passing by, the riotous Muslim mob was rampaging through the streets with petrol bombs along with firing and stone-pelting. Just then, a bullet from the rioters hit Dinesh’s head and he passed away. Advocate Monica Arora has also approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide compensation and justice to the victim’s family.

When OpIndia team reached the house of the deceased Dinesh, the atmosphere there was very turbid. There were some people who were taking note of the statements of the victims. They were referring to themselves as a committee of the court. Talking to them, Suresh said that his only demand from the government is that every madarsa and mosque should be searched so that the Muslim mobs cannot store dangerous weapons from now on. Suresh also reiterated this during a conversation with OpIndia. Others present there told OpIndia that bullets had been shot in the head, eyes and neck of the victimized Hindus.

They told that weapons made of iron were stored and kept, with which the heads of Hindus were being attacked. People are still scared. The people of Prem Nagar and Prem Vihar, while narrating their grief to us, told us that their trust has been lost from the police administration. Hence, they are forced to stay awake every night and protect their lives. Especially for the safety of women at home they have to do this. Suresh made a very big charge while talking to us. He said that if the sticks and knives are found in the house of the Hindus, then the police throws them in jail, while weapons are kept in the house of the Muslims and absolutely nothing is done about it.


On the day Dinesh Kumar Khatik was shot, Muslim rioters had created such a situation that he could not even be taken to the hospital. The old father is sitting in the balcony of his house with a lost soul. He has only one concern that how will Dinesh’s wife and children be maintained? As if he had swallowed the grief of the son’s death for his daughter-in-law and grandchildren. The brother of the deceased while talking to us further stated:

“From 24 February itself, riots had started in the Shiv Vihar area of ​​Mustafabad. The Muslim people were constantly coming and looting Hindu shops. The houses of the Hindus were damaged and shops were burnt. Here all the shops were closed, so my brother went out to get food and milk for the children when he was killed. Attacks were being launched far and wide from the roof of the school. There are 2-4 more buildings of Muslims, in which hundreds of Muslims were gathered. 4 people have died. This is Jihad, nothing else. Inflammatory speeches are made by Radical Islamists. ”

Suresh Khatik said that there is not even a stick in his house. Suresh said that he has told the police that action should be taken on Muslims as well if they get sticks or knives from the house of Hindus. They say that there should be raids in mosques and madrasas to prevent such incidents from happening. He asked, how do they have so much of weaponry? Raids should be conducted not only in madrasas and mosques but also in the homes of each Muslim, he said.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs today decided to protest against the anti-Hindu riots that took place in Delhi last week by standing blindfolded in front of the Gandhi statue inside the Parliament premises.


The irony of sporting a blindfold to protest against violence was not lost on netizens who roasted the MPs and pointed out the deafening silence West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief maintains on the political murders in the state, especially when TMC goons kill BJP workers.


Many voiced similar sentiments.


An alert Twitter user even spotted a TMC MP seeing through his blindfold which was wrapped over his glasses.


Another Twitter user had very keen observational skills.


For reasons best known to the above MPs, one lady TMC MP can be seen holding her male colleague’s hand to put his fingers on his lips, perhaps to signify silence.


Clearly, netizens weren’t quite done with the trio.

West Bengal has become a hotbed for political violence. Since the time the Bharatiya Janata Party has made successful inroads into the state, TMC goons have resorted to uncontrolled hooliganism and unleashed severe atrocities on innocent BJP workers. The anti-Hindu violence that was unleashed upon Delhi in the name of the anti-CAA protests have subsided, but fear is still ruling on the streets of Northeast Delhi. The residents are horrified at the images that have emerged after the fire and horror that reigned the localities for two days.

Startling facts are gradually coming to light while the Crime Branch investigates the riots. The violence-hit areas have thrown up some truly scary images. Several home-made weapons were used during the Delhi violence. As the ashes settle and dust clears, it is becoming increasingly evident that the Muslims in the area had prepared for the violence days, if not weeks in advance.

Of the several weapons and armaments used in the Delhi riots, the one that has been most damaging is reportedly the slingshot. In many areas, it is the slingshots that have inflicted the most damage, as compared to bullets and bombs.

The SIT investigating the Delhi violence has reportedly found slingshots mounted on the rooftop after every 10 or 15 houses. Police officials have stated that they have recovered hundreds of slingshots, of various sizes and style from houses in violence-hit areas. The houses in Mustafabad area have been found to have the most number of improvised slingshots. The police say that these slingshots, used to hurl stones and petrol bombs to a greater distance, have probably inflicted the most damage in the violence-hit areas.

Iron pieces, petrol bombs and bottles of acid have been hurled by using the slingshots. In Delhi’s Shiv Vihar area, a rickshaw had iron angles and rods welded on it, to make a creative design that can be used to store stones or petrol bombs and hurl them at the same time.

Like a handheld slingshot is used to hurl small pebbles and stones, these large slingshots have been used to hurl Molotov cocktails, acid bottles, iron pieces and big stones to inflict maximum damage in the surrounding areas.

Many twitter users have pointed out that similar devices are also used by terrorists in Syria.

The rickshaw mounted slingshot is being called a ‘mobile slingshot’. Stones and petrol bombs can be stored and moved easily while firing them from a greater distance inflicting greater damage by the Islamist mob.

Such rooftop-mounted slingshots have also been found at the house of AAP leader Tahir Hussain, who is now one of the main accused in the murder of IB sleuth Ankit Sharma.

As per the latest reports, the Delhi riots have claimed more than 40 lives. Several hundred people, including dozens of policemen, have been injured. Delhi police’s head constable Ratan Singh and IB sleuth Ankit Sharma have been brutally murdered by the Islamist mob. DCP Shahdara Amit Sharma was seriously injured when the violent mob had attacked him and set his car on fire.

The SIT is probing a larger conspiracy behind the Delhi riots, hatched over a prolonged period. In many areas, such improvised slingshots were also found attached to fences, or trees, pointing towards a detailed and organised preparation.

On Sunday, the contentious slogan of “Pakistan Zindabad” was found written on the wall of the house of one Kishan Rao Hagaragundagi, a local resident of the Haft Gumbaz locality of Kalaburagi, Karnataka.

Abusive and highly objectionable words against Prime Minister Narendra Modi were also scribbled on the wall with charcoal by unidentified miscreants. A complaint was filed by one Manoj Chaudhary who lives as a tenant in the said house. The cops had registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 153A, 153B, 124A, and 505(2) at the Chowk police station.

The residents had demanded immediate action and asked the police to ensure that such things do not happen in the future. The cops reassured the residents and removed the writing on the wall.

After the incident came to light, Divya Hagaragi, BJP leader, staged a protest outside Chowk police station. She and other BJP women activists demanded speedy action against the culprits. Accusing the cops of inaction, Divya reportedly said that while AIMIM leader Waris Pathan had delivered the hate speech in Kalburgi on February 15, Divya said case was registered against Pathan only after a complaint was lodged.

Few days back, pro-Pakistan slogans were spotted on walls of a school in Budarsingi village in Hubballi rural taluk in Karnataka. As per reports, the students and teachers for ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and ‘Tipu Sultan Shaale’ scribbled on the walls.

Last month, Amulya Leona, the ultra-left wing protestor, was booked under sedition case for raising “Pakistan Zindabad” slogan in the presence of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi at an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rally in Bengaluru. She was sent to 14-day judicial custody bu the Karnataka police.

Actor Tusshar Kapoor today took to Twitter to caution against one-sided reportage of anti-Hindu riots in New Delhi in the international media.


Kapoor said he was appalled at the fake one-sided news reportage about India in the international publications. However, soon after his tweet, the ‘liberals’ attacked him for urging to everyone to be little cautious about spreading fake news and false narrative. Actor Sanjay Khan’s daughter Farah Khan Ali insinuated that people are dying due to ‘incitement’ by political parties.


She then accused BJP MP Anurag Thakur of instigating riots.


This despite the fact that petrol bombs, slings and other incriminating evidence was found on the roof of apartment owned by Aam Aadmi Party corporator Tahir Hussain. He has also been accused by the family members of IB official Ankit Sharma who was brutally murdered. Sharma’s body was found in a drain last week.

Farah Khan Ali is the same Bollywood popcorn who retweeted ex-Pakistan Army spokesperson Asif Ghafoor’s tweet referring to Kashmir as ‘India occupied Jammu-and-Kashmir’. Because normally, people have zero motivation to be rational. He was also immediately named a ‘junior propagandist’.


Do note that Kapoor is neither denying the violence nor is he giving names of any political party. All he is doing is urging people to have some restrain and not indulge in fake or one-sided news.

And he was attacked personally.


Kapoor is son of veteran Bollywood actor Jitendra and brother of television soap opera queen Ekta Kapoor. All Tusshar Kapoor did this morning was express an opinion.

This attack on Kapoor comes a day after a journalist revealed how he was offered USD 1500 for a 1000 word article on Delhi riots and reporting the same on religious lines coinciding with US President Donald Trump’s visit. Recently, Wall Street Journal had misquoted murdered IB official Ankit Sharma’s brother. In its report WSJ claimed that the young IB officer was murdered by a mob of shouting “Jai Shri Ram”.

According to the WSJ article, it was the frenzied Hindu mob who were responsible for carrying out the ghastly murder of Ankit Sharma.
