Home Minister Amit Shah says ready to meet Shaheen Bagh ‘protestors’ to talk on CAA and NRC

Home Minister Amit Shah while speaking at Times Now summit said that he is willing to talk to those opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register for Citizenship (NRC).

Home Minister said that he will meet anyone who is wiling to talk on the CAA and NRC. When Times Now journalist Navika Kumar asked him if he’d meet Shaheen Bagh protestors who’ve been blocking the road since almost two months now, he replied in affirmative. He added that he will meet those willing to meet him within three days. He further added that he has not yet been informed about reasons behind the protests.

“Which Article in the Act is an issue? How is this Act anti-Muslim or anti-minority?” Shah asked. The CAA ‘protestors’ have been claiming that the Act is anti-Muslims and that the Indian Muslims will be rendered stateless. However, it is far from reality. The Citizenship Amendment Act only fast-tracks Indian citizenship of persecuted religious minorities from three neighbouring Islamic countries: Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. It does not affect Indian citizens, Muslims or otherwise, in any which way. Hence, the entire premise of the protests is baseless.

Srinagar: Ahle Hadees cleric and former terror organisation chief found murdered in Mosque, allegedly by another Maulvi

0

Prominent Ahel-e-Hadees cleric and former chief of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM), Abdul Gani Dar, (78) of Russu Beerwah Budgam was reportedly found murdered in a mosque in Maisuma, Srinagar on Thursday. TuM is an Islamic terrorist organization operating in the valley which was banned by the Home Ministry last year in February.

As per reports, Abdul Gani Dar was murdered by another Maulvi at the Mosque.

Reportedly, Abdul Gani Dar was hit with by the perpetrator in the first floor of the Mosque after he had completed his mid-day prayer. The Police were informed immediately about the murder and the body was sent for a postmortem. A case has been registered over the matter and investigations are currently underway.

Interestingly, the murdered person Abdul Gani Dar, alias Abdullah Gazali was allegedly involved in a 2011 murder of Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah, the then president of the Jamiat Ahle Hadith. The Maulana was killed in an IED blast done with the help of a LeT terrorist, at a Mosque in Maisuma, Srinagar.

Though a person named Nissar Ahmad Khan was arrested for triggering the blast, the police had stated that it was Abdul Gani Dar alias Abdullah Gazali who had hatched the murder plan along with Ashiq Hussain Faktoo,  a dreaded separatist leader in Srinagar jail who is also Asiya Andrabi’s husband.

Gazali was granted bail by a Srinagar court in 2015 after it held that the prosecution has failed to provide enough evidence of his involvement in the 2011 murder.

Saba Naqvi continues to fear-monger, conjures up a story of Hindi speaking Afghan refugee moving to Australia ‘because of CAA’

Saba Naqvi, the incorrigible fake news peddler, masquerading as a journalist has been quite consistent in distorting or misrepresenting facts and attributing the worst possible motives to the government to advance her destructive agenda. Today, the mythomaniac has once again taken to Twitter to conjure up a story against Citizenship Amendment Law.

While sharing a picture of a Hindi speaking Afghan refugee on the microblogging site, Saba expressed her anguish that despite living in India for over a decade, this young girl’s family has decided to move to Australia because of the newly introduced Citizenship Amendment Act.

Saba claimed that an Afghan refugee girl who has been living in India for a decade and also knows Indian classical dance form like Bharatnatyam, will move to Australia. She appended that this move is because of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

In another Tweet, Saba continued to mislead people by saying that “People came to India, from Buddhists to Muslims to Hindus and Sikhs, because we were a warm plural nation that welcomed. Muslims are not welcome in India so even those who love our county will seek safer options. Sad…” without probably realising that Indian citizens are not as harebrained as she is to fall for her whoppers.

Many promptly replied to Saba by pointing out the provisions under the new law.

While some poked fun at the bad script she had concocted.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri also responded to Saba Naqvi’s fear-mongering by writing: “She is spreading hatred. Bigotry. Communal mindset. Someone should challenge these fake news generators in court.”

CAA fast-tracks Indian citizenship of persecuted religious minorities from three neighbouring Islamic countries, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Other people seeking Indian citizenship could continue to apply for the same as per normal provisions. The ‘Afghan refugee girl’ could have applied for Indian citizenship should she so wish, could do so after a year since normal provisions allow refugees in India to apply for Indian citizenship after lapse of 11 years.

Islamic terror group Jaish creates ‘Ghaznavi Force’ to carry out Pulwama-style terror attacks in India: Intel reports

0

The latest intelligence reports have revealed that Pakistan-sponsored Islamic terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has created a new group of highly-trained terrorists called ‘Ghaznavi Force’ to carry out Pulwama-style terror attacks in India. These reports come a day ahead of first year anniversary of the ghastly Pulwama terror attacks which claimed lives of 40 CRPF jawans.

According to the inputs gathered by the Indian intelligence agencies, Pakistan’s notorious spy agency – the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) joining hands with terror group JeM has made an elaborate plan to carry out more deadly terror attacks in India.

Reportedly, the newly-created armed group, which is being called the “Ghaznavi Force” comprises fighters from other banned terror outfits like LeT, Hizbul Mujahideen, AuGH and Al Badr. The terrorists belonging to this group might attempt to target security forces, their convoys, vital installations and border outposts by planting IEDs, the agencies have warned.

The jihadis of the ‘Ghaznavi Force’ may also use explosives-laden trucks, vehicles to carry out attacks on the Indian security forces operating in Kashmir and border areas.

Following these warnings, an alert has been sounded and the security forces operating in the Kashmir Valley have been directed to remain vigilant and exercise caution. Security agencies operating in the Valley have been asked to increase coordination for accurate and timely analysis of inputs being intercepted by the Indian intelligence agencies.

These warnings come in the wake of reports that 27 Jaish terrorists were being trained in the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir region to launch terror attacks in India. The JeM is currently providing training 27 terrorists for launching attacks against India, the reports said.

Out of the 27, eight are from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. They are being trained by two instructors from Punjab, Pakistan and three from Afghanistan.

In January this year, the Jammu and Kashmir Police busted a Jaish-e-Mohammad module in Srinagar and arrested five of its operatives, averting a major terror attack planned on January 26. A large cache of incriminating material and explosive substances, including gelatine sticks, explosives, detonators, arms, explosive body vests, batteries and nitric acid, were also recovered following searches based on their disclosures.

Income Tax Department clarifies that PM Narendra Modi was correct when he said only 1.5 crore people pay income tax

Yesterday prime minister Narendra Modi made some comments about income tax payers in India which was attacked by may left-liberals claiming he was giving false numbers. Speaking in Times Now Summit 2020 on 12 February, PM Modi had said that in a country of 130 crore, only 1.5 crore people pay income tax.

Eager to prove that the prime minister was lying, usual suspects started claiming that the actual number of taxpayers is much higher as per the government’s own data. A report published by PIB in October was cited by them, which had said that the number of returns filed had gone up from 3.31 crore in 2013-14 to 5.44 crore in 2017-18. Therefore, the number of people of who paid tax was 5.44 crore, and not 1.5 crore as Modi said, they claimed.

Most people accusing Modi of lying assumed that the number of people who filed income tax return equals to the number of people who actually paid Income Tax. They forgot one basic fact that everyone who earns income is required to file income tax returns, but not all of them are required to pay tax. People need to pay tax only if their income is above the minimum slab in the income tax for a year, and a large number of file returns with zero taxable income as per the slab.

To dispel the false allegations of fake data against the PM, the Income Tax department has issued clarifications saying that the numbers given by Modi were correct. In a series of tweets, the tax dept said that in the financial year 2018-19, 5.78 crore individuals had filed income tax returns. Out of them, 1.03 crore people showed income below Rs 2.5 lakh and 3.29 crore people disclosed income between Rs 2.5 and Rs 5 lakh. This means out of total 5.78 crore returns, 4.32 crore declared income below Rs 5 lakh. The budget in 2019 had exempted taxpayers with up to Rs 5 lakh income from paying tax, therefore, these 4.32 crore people were not required to pay any tax on income. As a result, only the remaining 1.46 crore actually paid income tax.

So, when PM Modi said that only 1.5 crores pay income tax, he was not lying or giving a much less figure as alleged. In fact, he had rounded up 1.46 crore to 1.50 crore.

Earlier, another baseless allegation was made against Modi regarding the same speech. Talking specifically about professionals, Modi had said that only 2200 professionals like lawyers, doctors, Chartered Accountants, Bollywood stars etc declare income of more than Rs 1 crore. But several pro-Congress journalists had deliberately misinterpreted him by saying that he said the number of people declaring income above Rs 1 crore is 2200, while the real number is around 1 lakh. They had deliberately ignored that Modi was only talking about professionals, and not overall taxpayers. The I-T dept said that only about 2200 professionals such as Doctors, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers others have disclosed annual income of more than Rs 1 crore from their profession, therefore the number given by PM Modi was absolutely correct.

The department also informed that around 8,600 people have declared above Rs 5 crore, and around 3.16 lakh individuals disclosed income above Rs 50 lakh for 2018-19.

Remembering Pulwama bravehearts: Soil collected from each martyr’s house to be placed at CRPF’s Lethpora camp, memorial to be inaugurated

0

On February 14 last year, the Pulwama district in Kashmir had witnessed one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in the last decade, claiming the lives of 40 CRPF soldiers. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will pay homage to those 40 martyrs on Friday by organising a low-key “wreath-laying” ceremony at Lethpora Camp to mark their first death anniversary.

In the ceremony which will be held Friday in 185 Battalion of CRPF, which is soon to be converted into Group Centre of CRPF, Special DG, North Zone, CRPF Zulfiqar Hasan is set to pay tributes alongside top security officials from the security grid. The Battalion is 2 Km from the actual site of the attack.

A martyr’s column dedicated to the memory of those jawans who laid down their lives in the line of duty will be inaugurated at this solemn function. “It is going to be a solemn ceremony, a martyr column will be inaugurated with the names of the CRPF jawans who died in the Pulwama attack inscribed on it, a blood donation camp will be also be held at Letpora,” Zulfiqar Hasan told IANS.

Sources said: “Family of martyrs have not been called as it was deemed that there would be private ceremonies held at their residences.”

Moreover, in a bid to honour those martyrs a memorial will be built in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district whose construction will begin tomorrow. Soil is being collected from the homes of the CRPF martyrs which will be used in the construction of the memorial.

As per a Times of India report, Umesh Gopinath Jadhav, a Bengaluru-based singer, had travelled to the family home of each of the 40 Pulwama martyrs, met the families and had collected the soil from outside their houses in an earthen pot. Jadhav will meet DG Zulfiqar Hasan at the Lethpora camp and will present the urn, to be laid at the memorial column.

Jadhav has travelled over 61,000 km across India to meet the family members of the martyrs. He will be the only guest at the CRPF’s Lethpora camp today.

On Wednesday, CRPF officials visited the residences of Mohan Lal Raturi, one of the 40 personnel killed in last year’s Pulwama attack, in Uttarakhand.

The CRPF has collected soil from both the residences of Raturi in a Kalash (pot) to send it to Pulwama, where the construction of the memorial will begin from February 14, 2020, the first anniversary of the attack.

In the ghastly act, at least 40 CRPF men were killed after a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden car into the 55-seater bus they were travelling in at Lethpora, Pulwama in South Kashmir on February 14, 2019.

A terrorist belonging to Pakistani Army backed Islamic terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, identified as Adil Ahmad Dar, had rammed an SUV laden with over 300 kg of explosives into the CRPF bus carrying about 40 personnel.

The CRPF convoy of 70 vehicles carrying over 2000 personnel was on the way to Srinagar from Jammu after the highway opened for one way traffic after several days of closure due to heavy rainfall and subsequent landslides.

Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attack and identified the suicide bomber (fidayeen) as Adil Ahmad from Kakapora in Pulwama, who had joined the Jaish-e-Mohammed in 2018. They also released a recorded video message of the suicide bomber.

India had exacted revenge by decimating the Jaish terrorist camps at a hilltop in Balakot, Pakistan, 13 days later in a precision airstrike carried out by Indian Air Force.

Missionaries of Charity baby selling case: Child Rights body moves to Supreme Court, seeks SIT probe into all such charity-run shelter homes

0

The National Commission of Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has moved to the supreme court seeking an SIT probe in the case of children sold by shelter homes of Missionaries of charity which was founded by Mother Teresa in Jharkhand.

Seeking a court-monitored and time-bound investigation of all such organizations in Jharkhand in order to ensure protection for children, the NCPCR moved to the supreme court under Article 32. The statutory child rights body sought enforcement of the fundamental right of the prohibition of trafficking in humans under Article 23 of the constitution.

As per the PTI report, The plea filed by the lawyer Swarupama Chaturvedi mentioned cases of child trafficking and child rights violation in Jharkhand and alleged that authorities neglected to protect these children.

The Commission also sought to SIT in every state to investigate the organizations like Missionaries of Charity who are accused of Child Rights Violations.

“During the course of inquiry by petitioner (NCPCR), shocking revelations were made by the victims which included the factum that the children were being sold in the children’s homes. These facts were emphatically brought to the notice of the state government (Jharkhand) but continuous attempts were made to sabotage and derail the inquiry,” the plea filed by lawyer Chaturvedi said.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde and with Justices B R Gavai and Surya Kant issued a notice on Monday to Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Maharashtra state governments, tagging the matter related to the protection of child rights in school.

Giving details of the earlier incidents and actions taken, the plea said that Jharkhand police arrested two nuns of ‘Missionaries of Charity’ running ‘Nirmal Hriday’ – a shelter home for destitute women, for allegedly selling babies of unwed mothers.

The plea stated that the NCPCR raised the issue by writing to Cheif Secretary of Jharkhand, seeking information with regard to various questions like total number of Children at the shelter homes and their legal status as to whether they are orphan/abandoned/surrendered and the legal information about the shelter homes whether they are registered and the action taken against nuns for child trafficking.

The plea said that the NCPCR had visited a center of Missionaries of Charity at Ranchi and found gross irregularities in their functioning, which was later conveyed to Chief Secretary and DGP of Jharkhand.

The plea complained that on 10 July 2018, Additional Secretary of Department of Women and Child development and social security of Jharkhand government responded to the queries raised by NCPCR, but the details were found to be with certain discrepancies and the NCPCR found it as unsatisfactory. They received information about 78 child care institutions instead of the actual number of 80.

Citing another incident in Dumka districts in Jharkhand where they were provided statements of two girls who were sexually abused, were sent to missionaries of charity where they delivered babies and returned to their respective homes with their babies. The commission alleged that except for the statements of the victims no action has been taken by the authorities.

The commission concluded saying, “Fundamental right of the prohibition of trafficking of human beings guaranteed under Article 23 of the Constitution cannot be trampled in any manner and it includes the protection of children from trafficking, child prostitution, and other related offences without any hindrance.”

Gujarat: 25-year-old man booked under Parents and Senior Citizen Act for forcing grandmother to beg on street

The Ahmedabad police on Tuesday booked a 25-year-old man under Parents and Senior Citizens act along with charges of creating public nuisance under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections for forcing his 70-year-old grandmother to beg on streets every day at Shyamal Crossroads.

Reportedly, Gujarat ADGP Anil Pratham saved a 70-year-old woman as he spotted the old woman begging near Shyamal Crossroads in the city. As he inquired the old woman, she revealed that her 25-year-old grandson had dropped her off at the junction so she could beg for a living.

Immediately, Pratham called 108 emergency service to get her condition checked, then he called the police control room. The Anandnagar SHE team led by PSI SK Barad rushed to the spot.

According to the FIR filed by PSI SK Barad of Anandnagar police, the grandmother — Tara Solanki, a resident of Shrinanadnagar in Vejalpur, was a beggar. Despite her age, her daughter’s son, Jigar Vadashara, used to drop her at Shyamal Crossroads to beg.

A case has been filed under the Maintenance And Welfare of Parents And Senior Citizen Act in the city. According to police, this is the first case filed under this act. Police Commissioner Ashish Bhatia said, “It is for the first time that an FIR has been registered under this Act. Anandnagar PI Sajid Baloch speaking to the media said, “We checked the family profile and found that Taraben Solanki has two daughters. She lived with her daughter Madhuben’s family in Shrinanandnagar Vibhaag 3. One person in the family drives a rickshaw while another is a labourer. Madhu’s son Jigar would drop her off to beg in the morning. We have booked a case against him under Section 24 of the Act which states that maintenance and care of the children.”

Yogendra Yadav’s ‘five finger’ fearmongering video on NPR-NRC-CAA calling to not give data during census is full of lies

As the relentless campaign of left-liberals against the CAA-NRC-NPR on the basis of absolute lies continues, ultra-Left-wing activist Yogendra Yadav has gone a step further in fearmongering about them. In a video published on February 10, the psephologist turned activist-cum-politician made imaginary links among census, NPR, NRC, CAA and detention centres, and urged people to oppose them.

In the video, Yogendra Yadav says that in a few months’ time, census enumerators will start visiting houses to collect data. Along with regular census data, they will also ask for details like Aadhaar card number, driving licence details etc. After that, government officials will analyse that data secretly, and put D, which means doubtful, in front of the name of some people. This means they are doubtful citizens, and officials will mark this if people were not able to provide correct details like the birthplace of their parents, Aadhaar card etc, he alleges.

Yogendra Yadav says that after this, people with D with their name will start getting letters from the government, asking to prove their citizenship. He says that the government has not told us till now how to prove citizenship, and we only have the example of Assam where NRC process has been completed. In Assam, documents like Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, having the name in Voter List etc were not accepted as proofs of citizenship. He said that people of Assam were asked to bring proof where they were born. After this, he says that who can’t submit proofs, their cases will be sent to Foreigners Tribunal. This will be their last resort to prove their citizenship. If a person is Muslim, then they have no way, as they are not included in CAA. He says that even for Muslims, they will have to prove that they came from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, while the fact is that they are living in India for 500-1000 years. Those who can’t prove citizenship in Foreigners Tribunal will be declared foreigners and they will be sent to detention centres; Yadav concludes his fearmongering. He said that govt of India has made rules regarding detention centres, such centres are operating in Assam and are being built in other states.

The Swaraj India party leader said that Census, NPR, NRC, Foreigners Tribunal and Detention Centres are five fingers of evil, and people should oppose the first finger, the census, so that the remaining ones do not arise. He asked people to not give data to census enumerators and boycott the NPR. ‘Do not let any information about you to be written on paper, else situation will be out of your control’, he warned.

Yogendra Yadav has scripted a nice horror story staring from census to detention centres, but everything he said was a lie. He mixed-up completely unrelated details to fearmonger about the government initiatives, some of which are being done from past.

Read- ‘When UPA does the NPR, it is okay. When we do it, we are questioned. What is this?’ Amit Shah

First, the census and NPR are based on residency, it has nothing to do with citizenship. In this exercise, data from people living in India is collected, it does not differentiate between citizens and resident non-citizens. Therefore, it is simply not possible to identify someone as a doubtful citizen based on NPR data. The NPR was first prepared in 2010 during the UPA government, and there is no report of any citizen marked as doubtful based on this data. Just because someone can’t provide Aadhaar details or birthplace of parents, they can’t be declared doubtful citizens.

Yogendra Yadav seems to have borrowed the concept of marking D from Assam, when voter lists are published with persons marked as D against their name. These persons were named in the voter list, but could not prove their nationality during an intensive door-to-door survey by poll officials. D voters are barred from voting in elections, and their cases were referred to Foreigners Tribunals. It is very important to note that only Indian citizens are authorised to vote, and hence people with doubtful nationality can’t vote in India. But as the census and NPR are based on residency and not on citizenship, there is no questions of marking doubtful in that exercise, and therefore there is no question of sending anyone letter to prove citizenship under NRC using NPR data.

While Yogendra Yadav tries to line NRC with NPR, the fact is they are totally different, as one is regarding citizenship and the other is about residency. He also gave wrong information about recently concluded exercise in Assam to update the NRC. The root of updating the NRC in Assam lies in the Assam Accord signed by Rajiv Gandhi government in 1985. It had said that all illegal foreigners that came to Assam after 1971 will be detected and deported. To fulfil that objective, the original NRC which was published in 1951 was updated. During this exercise, the 1951 NRC, and voter lists in the state up to the year 1971 were made public, known as legacy data, and citizens had to locate their or their parents/grandparents etc names in those documents. Once name any of the family members were located in the legacy data, other members in the family could use various types of documents to prove a link with the person. A long list of official documents was acceptable to prove this linkage, including ration cards, birth certificates, school certificates etc.

Voter lists after 1971 were not considered, even if a person’s name was mentioned in such lists. This is because, the 6-year long agitation in Assam demanding deportation of illegal immigrants, that had ended with signing the Assam Accord, had started after names of a large number of illegal immigrants were found included in voter lists. As the ultimate goal of update the NRC was to remove illegal immigrants, such lists can’t be basis of proving citizenship, at least in Assam.

Read- Assam’s NRC: All that the media doesn’t tell you

Just like NRC was first prepared in 1951 and NPR in 2010, the Foreigners Tribunal and Detention centres are also not inventions of the Modi government that the left-liberals will want us to believe. Foreigners Tribunals are special courts set up to hear matters regarding citizenship and foreigners, and they were set up under the Foreigners Tribunal Act, 1941 and the Foreigners (Tribunals) Order, 1964 under Section 3 of the Foreigners Act, 1946.

Assam has 100 Foreigners Tribunals, and 36 of them were set up before 2014. 64 additional tribunals were set up as per a Supreme Court order in 2014. Similarly, detention centres were set up in Assam in 2008, when the Congress party was in power both in the state and in the centre.

Yogendra Yadav keeps talking about Aadhaar card in the video, which proves that he has no idea about this document. Aadhaar is not a proof of citizenship, it is just a proof of identity. It proves that a person is really that person that he/she is claiming to be. Having Aadhaar is no proof that one is an Indian citizen, as foreigners living in India are eligible to obtain it legally.

NRC was updated in Assam due to massive agitation against illegal foreigners and the Assam Accord, and Assam has a different cut-off date for determining citizenship, which is March 25 1971. Therefore, the process used in Assam for NRC can’t be used at the national level. The union government has repeatedly said that there is no proposal to bring NRC at national level at present, therefore, it is not known what will be its shape and terms and conditions if and when it is implemented. To say that NRC will be based on NPR data is baseless, and it is only needless fearmongering that Yogendra Yadav is indulging into.

By calling for not giving information during the census, Yogendra Yadav is making a dangerous appeal which has the potential to derail welfare schemes of the government. The census data is very important to know the socio-economic and other statuses of people in the country, based on which various welfare schemes are formulated. If the government does not have the latest correct data, such schemes can’t be targetted properly. Therefore, it will be an anti-poor move if the census is boycotted as per Yogendra Yadav’s appeal.
