Uttar Pradesh: Hindu man lives in fear as Muslims hound him for objecting to hoarding of Pakistani hate preacher Khadim Hussain Rizvi, seeks police protection

A Hindu man named Ashish Kumar has been living under fear ever since he complained to the police about hoardings, featuring radical hate preachers from Pakistan, which were put up on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi.

A resident of Mehdawal Nagar Panchayat in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, Kumar found hoardings of Khadim Hussain Rizvi and his son Saad Hussain Rizvi on full public display in September this year.

He tweeted about the matter and then filed a police complaint in this regard. Two Muslim men were arrested based on his complaint. However, Ashish soon became the subject of death threats.

According to the victim, two men came to his house on 24th September and threatened him with drastic consequences. On Thursday (3rd October), Ashish received another threat to his life.

Forced by circumstances, the Hindu man appealed to the SP Satyajit Gupta to provide him with police protection. In his application, Ashish informed that his family was scared and that those who issued threats were roaming freely on the streets.

He lamented that no action has been taken so far by the police administration. On receipt of his complaint, the SP handed over the case to the circle officer of Mehdawal. A probe has now been initiated into the matter.

Hindu organisations in the area have meanwhile expressed solidarity with Ashish Kumar.

Khadim Hussain Rizvi, STSJ and its influence in India

Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the Pakistani cleric featured on the hoarding in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, is the founder of an extremist party called Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

During his lifetime, Rizvi launched several campaigns to preserve the draconian blasphemy laws in Pakistan. He was a follower of 19th-century Islamic preacher, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi (the founder of the Barelvi sect).

TLP has been involved in several violent protests in Pakistan. They have killed law enforcement authorities and even coined the dangerous slogan of ‘Sarr Tann se Juda (beheading)’ for committing blasphemy (often described with Urdu terms such as ‘Toheen-e-Mazhab’ and ‘Gustaak-e-Rasool’).

TLP founder Khadim Hussain Rizvi has been the inspiration for several criminals, who committed murders of alleged blasphemers. In March 2019, a Muslim student named Khateeb Hussain stabbed his English Professor in Bahawalpur City of Pakistan after falsely accusing the latter of blasphemy.

Hussain’s eagerness to take credit for the murder paints an alarming picture of a boy who was inspired by videos of preacher Khadim Hussain Rizvi and possibly radicalised through social media,” a report in Dawn stated.

In 2018, another student in Chārsadda town of Pakistan shot dead his school Principal after accusing him of committing blasphemy. “I committed this murder and I accepted it. It was ordered by God (Allah),” the unnamed student confessed. He had attended meetings conducted by TLP in 2017.

The war cry of ‘Sarr Tann se Juda (STSJ)’ has been weaponised by radical Islamists residing in India to orchestrate attacks against the Hindu community.

In November 2023, Lareb Hashmi attacked a 24-year-old Hindu bus conductor with a cleaver on allegations of ‘blasphemy’. He was inspired by the teachings of Khadim Hussain Rizvi.

Islamists have also killed Kamlesh TiwariKanhaiya LalKishan Bharwad and other Hindus in the name of ‘Gustaak-e-Rasool.’

Karnataka: Brother of Janata Dal (Secular) MLA goes missing, damaged car found near Mangaluru’s Kulur bridge

0

Mangaluru police have launched a search operation after a businessman was reported missing early Sunday morning, officials said. The missing businessman, identified as Mumthaz Ali, is the brother of Janata Dal (Secular) MLC BM Farooq and former Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava.

According to officials, Ali left his house in his car around 3 am on Sunday and later stopped near the Kulur Bridge at around 5 am. His vehicle was found abandoned near the Kulur bridge, leading to suspicions that he may have jumped from the bridge.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police, Anupam Agarwal, who reached the spot after receiving the information, said that there were signs of damage on the vehicle. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Coast Guard have been called in to search the river to determine whether Ali had jumped from the bridge.

“Early this morning, we received information that businessman Mumthaz Ali’s vehicle was found near Kulur bridge. He might have jumped from the bridge. Local police reached the spot and initiated the investigation,” Mangaluru CP Anupam Agrawal said.

“As per the preliminary investigation, he left his house in his car around 3 am, drove around the city, and at around 5 am stopped his car near the Kulur bridge. The car has certain accidental marks, and shortly after that, his daughter informed the local police,” he added.

“SDRF and Coast Guard teams are searching the river to determine if he jumped in or if there is any other development,” he said. “We are further looking into the matter,” he added.

Further details are awaited.

Pakistan: Abrupt ‘disappearance’ of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Gandapur stokes rumors of his arrest amid protest in Islamabad

0

In addition to stoking rumours of his arrest, the sudden “disappearance” of fiery politician and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur raised numerous questions as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continued its demonstration in Islamabad for a second day on Saturday, Geo News reported.

In an interview with the Geo News program “Naya Pakistan” on Saturday, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, the KP CM’s information advisor, stated that CM Gandapur was escorted by his staff when Rangers men entered the KP House in Islamabad. “We would have known if Ali Amin Gandapur departed for Peshawar,” he said.

“No one has been able to contact the chief minister so far,” he added.

Additionally, he stated that he spoke with the chief minister over a satellite phone around eight in the morning today. As of right now, his whereabouts remain unclear.

Saif responded to rumours that Gandapur would be arrested, stating that it would be a contempt of court since the KP CM had been granted bail by the Peshawar High Court (PHC), reported Geo News.

He continued by saying that Article 248 of the Constitution grants exemptions to all elected officials.

It is important to know that shortly after Chief Minister Gandapur arrived in Islamabad and proceeded to the provincial government’s residence, large groups of police and Rangers stormed into the KP House in the federal capital earlier today.

However, sources closer to the government refuted the reports about the KP chief minister’s arrest by law enforcers.

Islamabad’s law and order situation is still precarious because, in an attempt to maintain security ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, the party founded by Imran Khan attempted to hold a protest at D-Chowk in the face of Section 144, which forbids political activities and gatherings in the twin cities.

Protests demanding the independence of the judiciary and the release of the opposition party’s founder, Imran, who has been detained at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for over a year, were started by the opposition party.

Law enforcement officers and partyworkers also got into fights, each saying the other had attacked them.

Police fired tear gas at the protesters on Saturday in the capital as well as the convoys tried to enter Islamabad, while the workers used slingshots to hit the law enforcers.

West Bengal: Police arrest Mostakin for the murder of minor girl following public outrage, accused confesses to crime

Hours after the people of Kultali village in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal hit the streets in protest on Saturday (5th October), the police arrested a boy named Mostakin Sardar in connection to the rape and murder of a minor girl.

The SP of Baruipur district, Palash Chandra Dhali confirmed the development. He said that Mostakin had confessed to killing the minor girl.

“He has admitted to killing the girl but has denied raping her. We are waiting for the post-mortem report,” Baruipur SP Palash Chandra Dhali stated.

While speaking to the media, the girl’s father demanded the death penalty for the accused Mostakin.

According to the villagers, the victim was raped before she was killed and dumped into a canal, which is located about 500 metres away from her home. They have accused the local police of harassing the victim’s family and not taking preventive action on time.

The 11-year-old girl had been missing since Friday night (4th October). She had gone for tuition classes but did not return home. Her body was found in a canal on the following day.

Protests in South 24 Parganas

Later, angry villagers took to the streets in protest. Roads were blocked in Jayanagar and Kultali. The agitated protestors attacked the police station and set it on fire.

In videos that surfaced on social media, women protestors were seen demonstrating with sticks, pelting stones and clashing with the police. Others were seen destroying bikes and public property in a fit of rage.

The situation in Kultali remains tense. The police initiated a probe into the matter and also deployed a large contingent to prevent any untoward incident.

RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case: Junior doctors in Kolkata begin fast unto death as West Bengal govt fails to fulfill their demands

On Saturday, 5th October, junior doctors protesting the rape and murder of their colleague at the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata began a fast unto death. The protesting doctors have accused the West Bengal Government of failing to fulfill their demands. Notably, they started a sit-in protest at Dorina Crossing in Dharmatala on Friday, 4th October, and gave the state government a deadline of 24 hours to meet their promises.

Speaking to the media, a junior doctor said, “We are starting the fast unto death until our demands are fulfilled. To maintain transparency, we have installed CCTV cameras at the dais where our colleagues will be holding the fast. We will join duty as promised but will not eat anything.”

Initially, six junior doctors have started fast unto death. The sit-in protest was initiated after calling off the ‘total cease work’. The six doctors who sat on the fast unto death have been identified as Snigdha Hazra, Tanaya Panja, and Anustup Mukhopadhyay of Kolkata Medical College and Hospital, Arnab Mukhopadhyay of SSKM, Pulastha Acharya of NRS Medical College and Hospital, and Sayantani Ghosh Hazra of KPC Medical College.

The junior doctor said that if anything happens to the doctors sitting on the fast, the state government will be held responsible. He added, “We have the support of the people, and that is why we are not afraid of any hindrances from the administration. We will continue our hunger strike until our demands are met.”

Earlier, the junior doctors said that the police were not allowing them to set up the dais for the protest. The permission for the sit-in protest was denied by the Kolkata Police, stating that it would hinder traffic on an already congested road.

Furthermore, there were allegations by the junior doctors on Friday night that police personnel baton-charged them. Kolkata Police sent an email to the protesting doctors asking them to identify the police personnel involved and lodge a complaint. The police promised necessary action in the matter.

The email read, “With reference to the allegation of physical assault, the matter is being investigated. However, you are requested to direct the doctor/person who has allegedly been assaulted to lodge a formal complaint at the concerned police station. Necessary action will be taken in accordance with the law.”

The doctors’ demands include justice for their deceased colleague in RG Kar case, the immediate removal of Health Secretary NS Nigam, accountability for administrative incompetence and corruption within the Health Department, the establishment of a centralised referral system for all hospitals and medical colleges, the implementation of a bed vacancy monitoring system, and the formation of a task force to ensure essential provisions such as CCTV, on-call rooms, and washrooms, among others.

RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case

On 9th August, the semi-naked, injured body of a 31-year-old woman doctor was found in the seminar hall of Kolkata’s state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Her autopsy report confirmed rape before the murder. A total of three persons have been arrested so far in this case including Sanjay Roy, the prime accused. After the Courts came down heavily on the State government and Kolkata Police for mishandling the case, the Calcutta High Court transferred the probe from the Kolkata Police to the CBI.

Supreme Court junks petition seeking review of constitution bench verdict scrapping the Electoral Bonds scheme

0

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking a review of the Constitution Bench judgement by which it had struck down the Electoral Bonds Scheme, which allowed for anonymous funding to political parties.

A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, JB Paridwala and Manoj Misra dismissed the review petition.

“Having perused the review petitions, there is no error apparent on the face of the record. No case for review under Order XLVII Rule 1 of the Supreme Court Rules 2013. The review petitions are, therefore, dismissed,” the top court stated in its order, which dismissed the review petition filed by advocate Mathews J Nedumpara and others.

The apex court on February 15, while striking down the Electoral Bonds scheme, which allowed for anonymous funding to political parties, ordered the State Bank of India (SBI) to stop issuing Electoral Bonds immediately.

It had also held that the anonymous Electoral Bonds scheme violated the right to information of a voter guaranteed under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.

It had unanimously quashed the Electoral Bonds scheme as well as amendments made to the Income Tax Act and the Representation of People Act, which had made the donations anonymous.

An Electoral Bond is an instrument like a promissory note or bearer bond which can be purchased by any individual, company, firm, or association of persons provided the person or body is a citizen of India or incorporated or established in India. The bonds are issued specifically for contribution of funds to political parties.

Saurabh Bharadwaj and other AAP leaders detained during protests over regularising bus marshals and civil defence volunteers

0

Delhi police on Saturday detained Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj and other party leaders who were protesting outside LG VK Saxena’s residence on the issue of regularising bus marshals and civil defence volunteers.

“Today, the BJP has betrayed 10,000 bus marshals. Vijender Gupta has promised us that if we pass the resolution from the cabinet they will regularise bus marshals through the LG. But, today, both – the LG and BJP leaders have betrayed bus marshals and the people of Delhi,” Saurabh Bharadwaj told ANI while being taken in a bus.

Earlier, Bharadwaj along with other AAP leaders were also detained by police on Thursday while protesting at Chandgiram Akhara in Delhi, demanding the reinstatement of marshals in buses.

The AAP has alleged that the BJP has stepped back from its promise that they will regularise bus marshals through the LG after the Chief Minister Atishi–led cabinet passed a resolution in the assembly.

Earlier today, LG VK Saxena met the protesting bus marshals in his office in the national capital.

BJP Delhi official handle posted on X about the meeting of LG Saxena with Bus Marshals and said, “The Lt Gov Delhi met with a delegation of Bus Marshals today and assured them that their request would be given positive consideration. The meeting was arranged by State President Virendra Sachdeva. The Delhi BJP does not believe in politicizing humanitarian causes, which is why we facilitated a direct meeting.”

However, Delhi CM Atishi told ANI that the issue of Marshals comes under service matters that come under the LG, and the BJP is not putting pressure on him to do so.

“BJP MLAs have asked for time to meet me yesterday, we met them and explained to them about the issue (of bus marshals) that it comes under service matters that come under the LG. Today, the BJP got exposed that because our entire cabinet was there and we made it clear that those decisions need to be taken by us, we will take it and the BJP should ask the LG to make decisions on matters which come under him – BJP is not ready for that, they are doing politics over the issue,” she said.

“We called an emergency cabinet meeting and the resolution that was passed by the Delhi assembly to regularise bus marshal was signed upon. Even after coming here, BJP MLAs were not ready to ask the LG to pass that cabinet note. This is a betrayal against the bus marshal. The things that were to be done by the cabinet – to regularise bus marshals and civil defense volunteers, have been done. Now, the BJP has to regularise them and allot them joining letters,” the Delhi CM added.

The bus marshals have been protesting to get reinstated after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena terminated their services in October last year.

Videos of the incidents were shared on social media. In Punhana, locals arrived with lathis during the incident. In the video, broken and toppled chairs were visible. Police officials were seen attempting to disperse the crowd outside the polling booth, who were engaged in violence while the rest of the public stood in a queue waiting to vote for their preferred candidate.

In Chandeni village, supporters of Congress candidate Aftab Ahmed and INLD candidate Rahish Khan clashed. A man identified as Asif was injured in the incident of stone pelting at the polling booth.

Violence in Nuh

Notably, Nuh made headlines in July 2023 when a mob of Islamists attacked Hindus during the Braj Mandal Yatra organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Shimla Court orders Masjid Committee, Waqf Board to demolish top three floors of Sanjauli Mosque within two months

0

The Shimla Municipal Commissioner Court on Saturday ordered the demolition of three floors of the Sanjauli Mosque in Himachal Pradesh. The Court has given two months to the Masjid committee and Waqf Board to complete the demolition process.

The next date of hearing in the case is December 21.

BS Thakur, an advocate representing Waqf Board in the case told reporters, “The court has passed orders that the Masjid committee and Waqf Board should demolish the top three floors of the mosque at their own cost. The time limit of two months has been given for the demolition. In due course, it will be decided about the rest of the portion of the building. The next date of hearing is 21st December. The mosque committee has given the undertaking to demolish the top three floors.”

The conflict arose from the construction of a mosque which was alleged to be illegal in Sanjauli and subsequent protests by Hindu organizations.

Jagat Paul, an advocate representing local residents of Sanjauli, told ANI, “The court has said that it is not important to make locals a party in the case as a case is already going on between the Administration and the violator (Sanjauli mosque committee). We are happy that after local residents came to court and this decision has been given today.”

The Sanjauli Mosque issue once again flared up after AIMIM Delhi Chief Shoaib Jamai visited the mosque and posted a video on social media, alleging discriminatory actions against the mosque in comparison to other illegal constructions in the area.

The Sanjauli Mosque Committee, however, has firmly disagreed with Jamai’s views. They argue that outsiders are trying to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of Shimla, and political rhetoric surrounding the issue has intensified.

The Sanjauli Mosque Committee and the local Muslim community distanced themselves from Jamai’s remarks. They denounced his statement as harmful to Shimla’s peaceful environment and called for action against him.

Jihadists from Al-Qaeda-linked terror group kill 600 civilians within hours in Burkina Faso, reveals French security assessment

Terrorists linked to Al-Qaeda affiliate gunned down over 600 civilians within hours in August this year, a report by French security assessment recently said, underscoring the menace of Islamic terrorism faced by the poor West African nation.

As per the intelligence agency, terrorists attacked Barsalogho town in Burkina Faso on August 24 and killed over 600 civilians while digging trenches for defence—one of the deadliest single-day attacks in Africa in recent decades.

The military had ordered locals to dig large trenches around the town to protect themselves from jihadists. However, terrorists belonging to Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), an Al-Qaeda affiliate terror group, attacked these defences while they were still under construction, accusing the civilians of being combatants due to their involvement in the trench digging, eyewitness cited by the report said.

Videos on social media reveal people lying defenceless in the dirt excavated for the trenches as the militants took their lives. Several victims, including women and children, were killed while attempting to feign death. The videos capture the sounds of their screams mixed with automatic gunfire.

The Al-Qaeda affiliate JNIM is based out of Mali and operates actively in Burkina Faso. It has been involved in several terror attacks across the expanse of West Africa, a region long plagued by the scourge of Islamic terrorism. A series of coups in several West African countries have forced Western nations to flee and allowed the jihadist forces to fill in the vacuum.

The United Nations estimated a death toll of 200 but JNIM released a statement claiming responsibility for the killing of 300 individuals it claimed were militias belonging to the army and not civilians. But the French assessment pegs the fatalities to 600, stating that the jihadists shot dead people.

The report released by French security agencies said, “Large-scale deadly attacks (at least a hundred deaths) against civilian populations or defence and security forces have been occurring for several weeks at a rate that seems unsustainable for the government.”
