Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal slams comedian Kunal Kamra for targeting the company, offers him job promising higher pay than his ‘failed comedy career’

On Sunday, 6th October, Ola Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bhavish Aggarwal got into an online spat with alleged comedian Kunal Kamra when the latter attempted to target his company’s customer care service. In one of the posts, Bhavish questioned Kamra’s not-so-successful career as a comedian and pointed out that he was trying to behave as if he had some authoritative role. He said, “Comedian ban na sake, chaudhary banne chale.”

Bhavish Aggarwal, who is co-founder of Ola and founder of Ola Electric and OlaKrutrim, also offered Kamra a job Ola if cared about customer service so much, saying that he would pay more than what Kamra is earning from comedy.

It all started with a post by Kamra, where he questioned the possible backlog of pending service requests for Ola Electric Scooters outside an Ola showroom. In his post, Kamra wrote, “Do Indian consumers have a voice? Do they deserve this? Two-wheelers are the lifeline for many daily wage workers…” He tagged Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari and the Department of Consumer Affairs, and asked if this was “how Indians will get to using EVs?” He also urged people to post their stories about Ola Electric under his post. He had quoted Bhavish’s post where he had shared Ola’s Giga Factory’s photograph.

Quoting Kamra, Bhavish sarcastically offered Kamra a “job” to help Ola out and said he would pay Kamra more than he earned from the post or from his ‘failed comedy career’, suggesting that Kamra’s post targeting Ola could be a paid social media post. He said, “Since you care so much, Kunal Kamra, come and help us out! I’ll even pay you more than you earned for this paid tweet or from your failed comedy career. Or else, sit quietly and let us focus on fixing the issues for the real customers. We’re expanding the service network fast, and backlogs will be cleared soon.”

Replying to Bhavish’s sarcastic post about his “failed” comedy career, Kamra tried to portray himself as successful and shared how the audience reacted when he “surprised” them during a show by another alleged comedian, Grover (possibly Varun Grover). He wrote, “On my failed comedy career, here’s a clip from last year when I surprised an audience & opened for Grover… Anything else, you arrogant, substandard prick, Bhavish?”

Bhavish again quoted him and questioned whether he had hurt Kamra’s ego. He wrote, “Chot lagi? Dard hua? Aaja service centre. Bahut kaam hai. I will pay better than your flop shows pay you. Show your audience how much you truly care and whether you’re only full of gas and BS,” and once again invited Kamra to work for him, promising better pay.

Kamra again targeted Bhavish and asked him to refund money to his customers who had bought Ola Scooters in the last four months and wanted to return them. He wrote, “Instead, can you give a full refund to anyone who wants to return their OLA EV and who has purchased it in the last four months? I don’t need your money—people not being able to get to their workplace need your accountability. Show your customers that you truly care.”

Bhavish quoted him and pointed out that there are programs in place to deal with delays and again urged Kamra to come and do some real work with Ola. He said, “We have enough programs for our customers if they face service delays. If you were a genuine one, you would have known. Again, don’t try and back out of this. Come and do some real work rather than armchair criticism.”

Bhavish Aggarwal and Kunal Kamra’s online spat continued as Kamra again poked him and gave him other options if Bhavish could not offer refunds including 85% refund for 1-2 months, 75% refund for three months and so on. To his post, Bhavish used a sarcastic punchline and said, “Comedian ban na sake, chaudhary banne chale. Do your research better next time. And the offer to come and help us out in our service center remains open. Take up the challenge. Maybe you’ll learn some real skills for a change.”

Ola’s CEO Bhavish has made headlines several times in the past for his comments on different topics. In May this year, he slammed woke culture and spoke out about schools brainwashing kids. In a post on X, he talked about LinkedIn’s new Artificial Intelligence (AI) bot and its reference to him with pronouns such as ‘they/ their.’ Bhavish Aggarwal then raised alarm about multinational companies indoctrinating unsuspecting Indians with ‘pronoun illness.’

He wrote, “Hoping that this “pronoun illness” doesn’t reach India. Many “big city schools” in India are now teaching it to kids. Also see many CVs with pronouns these days. Need to know where to draw the line in following the west blindly!” He further emphasised, “Most of us in India have no clue about politics of this pronouns illness. People do it because it’s become expected in our corporate culture, especially MNCs.”

“Better to send this illness back where it came from. Our culture has always had respect for all. No need for new pronouns,” Bhavish Aggarwal concluded.

Kunal Kamra, on the other hand, has made headlines for his strange behaviour. In 2020, he made headlines for hackling Republic TV chief Arnab Goswami on an airplane resulting in him getting banned from several airlines. Later, in February 2023, he came out in support of alleged comedian Tanmay Bhat after Kotak withdrew its ad campaign featuring the latter over his old child rape tweets. He even praised Cred for keeping Bhat’s campaign alive but later deleted that post.

Ola Electric, India’s largest electric scooter manufacturer, has seen impressive growth since its launch. But in recent times, it has faced a large number of complaints regarding the quality of the vehicles and quality of service. One of the most common complaints from Ola Electric owners is the long wait time for repairs and services. Many people have complaints of having to wait for over a month to get their scooters repaired. Shortage of spare parts is another issue faced by customers.

As Ola operates on a direct-to-consumer model, it does not have dealers and franchise service centres, the company manages everything. While this was supposed to help the company control every aspect of the two-wheelers, the company has struggled to meet the demand for servicing and repairs.

Police arrest Bangladeshi infiltrator Nawab while trying to get Indian passport, had been living illegally in Bihar for 3 years

On Saturday (5th October), a Bangladeshi national named Nawab, who was illegally staying in India since 2021, was apprehended from Rampur Kudarkatti village in Araria district of Bihar.

According to reports, Nawab hails from Chapainawabganj in Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. He paid money to agents who helped him cross the Nagar river and infiltrate into the Indian territory.

The illegal immigrant initially stayed at his aunt’s house in Bihar’s Katihar before shifting to Araria. He got married about 1.5 years ago to a woman named Rangeela Khatun. Nawab also has a daughter by the name of Nusrat Khatoon.

He was exposed while trying to apply for an Indian passport. It must be mentioned that until then Nawab had successfully procured an Indian voter ID card by paying money to a Booth Level Officer(BLO).

The Bangladeshi infiltrator, who was living in Ward No 11 of Rampurkodkatti Panchayat, visited the Nagar police station to get his documents verified. He was asked to first get his documents verified by the Panchayat Head.

Accordingly, Nawab met Rampurkodkatti Panchayat President Pammi Devi. She grew suspicious and informed her husband Rajesh Singh, who was alarmed to see the name of Nawab’s wife on his voter ID card instead of his father’s name.

Singh also found the name of a villager in place of the father’s name on Nawab’s Aadhar card. On quizzing him about the matter, Nawab accepted that he was a Bangladeshi national who entered India illegally three years ago. Rajesh Singh then alerted the Nagar police station.

Nawab was thereafter arrested and put in custody. He is now being interrogated by the cops. A probe has been launched into the matter. Immigration and Intelligence officials have also been roped in by the police to aid in the investigation.

Last month, four illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were nabbed by the police at the Dharmanagar railway station in the Northeastern state of Tripura.

Recently, Maharashtra police arrested a porn actress named Riya Barde for illegally staying in India. She was operating using different names such as Arohi Barde, and Banna Sheikh. She was found to be a Bangladeshi infiltrator, who was staying in India using forged documents.

RG Kar Hospital: Doctors, interns, and house staff expelled for sexual misconduct, threat culture, and forceful collection of money

RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently. After the rape and murder of a junior doctor at the hospital, severe protests broke out all across India, and particularly in Bengal. Now the Hospital is engulfed in another controversy as it expelled 10 people, including Doctors, interns, and house staff.

Notably, these people were expelled for sexual misconduct in the hospital, encouraging ‘threat culture, and also for forceful collection of money. Reportedly, Among those expelled, there were people close to the previous RG Kar Principal Sandeep Ghosh, on whose watch the brutal rape and murder of the junior doctor took place.

As per reports, the expelled individuals were allegedly threatening others to fail examinations or get them ousted from the hostel, forcing other juniors to join a particular political party, involved in sexual harassment and misconduct, forceful collection of money, lodging of false FIRs against students and even physical violence.

Among those expelled is Ashish Pandey, a house staff member close to former RG Kar Principal Sandip Ghosh, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with financial irregularities and corruption.

According to reports, the expelled individuals have also been accused of coercing juniors into purchasing drugs and alcohol during late-night hours and forcing them to perform obscene acts in the boys’ common room. Apart from that, the accusations include physical violence against students residing in the Hostel.

Following the enquiry conducted by the  Institutional Enquiry Committee, the institute decided to expel these individuals. Not only that, among these, the ones accused of “substantial evidence of sexual harassment against women” have been referred to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) for further investigation and action.

Pakistan: Kidnappings surge in Rahim Yar Khan as dacoits target Hindu minorities

0

After a month of inactivity, gangsters from the Katcha region in Pakistan have resumed their operations, kidnapping three individuals–two of whom are Hindus–during two separate incidents on Friday night.

The dacoits abducted two Hindus, Shameer Jee and Dheema Jee, from their home in the Kalywali area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bhong police. The attackers broke into their residence and took them to the Katcha region, according to a report from Dawn.

Kabul Sukhani, the leader of the Sukhani Gang, who has a bounty of Rs 10 million on his head, has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings. Reports indicate that the dacoits have released a video featuring the hostages, demanding the release of an accomplice currently held by the police.

They have warned that the hostages will only be freed if their accomplice is released, threatening to harm them if their demands are not met.

Another individual, Saleem Niazi, was abducted on Friday night near Masoo Mor in the Muradpur region, which is also under the jurisdiction of the Machka police. The suspects fired shots, injuring a motorcyclist near Adam Sahaba in Sadiqabad before fleeing with his bike. The injured motorcyclist was later transported to a hospital by Rescue 1122.

Minorities in Pakistan face significant challenges that impact their daily lives, safety, and prospects. Three days ago, two individuals from Municipal Colony Sadiqabad, Asif and Bilal, went missing and are believed to be held in a dacoit hideout located in the Khair Muhammad Jhuk area near the Indus River, Dawn reported.

In the last 30 days, 12 individuals have been kidnapped from various locations in Rahim Yar Khan, raising alarms among residents, businesspeople, and politicians about the rising incidence of ransom-related abductions. The Katcha dacoits are now employing honey traps and directly abducting victims from streets and residential neighbourhoods.

Reports further indicate that within the Sadiqabad Police jurisdiction, 12 people were kidnapped over the past month, but police have only managed to recover four hostages so far. One abductee was killed after ransom demands were not met, while seven others, including two Hindus, remain in captivity.

Meanwhile, Iqbal Hafeez, President of the Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed his concerns in a video statement, highlighting the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the district, Dawn reported.

He condemned the escalating threat of extortion from dacoits, emphasizing that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure a safe environment for traders and industrialists. Hafeez noted that half of the industrialists who relocated to the RYK Industrial Estate from Karachi and other areas have since left due to the increasing insecurity.

Doctors in Kolkata begin indefinite hunger strike over Mamata Banerjee govt’s failure to meet their demands

0

Junior doctors on Sunday went on an indefinite hunger strike over their demands from the Mamata Banerjee led-West Bengal government and asserted that they would continue to demonstrate their protest until their demands for justice on humanitarian grounds are not met.

The doctors emphasised that their fight is not against the public, but by and for the public.

Dr Sayantani who spoke to ANI on the hunger strike said, “Till the time our demands of justice on humanitarian grounds is not fulfilled, we will sit here. Before her rape and murder, Abhaya went through multiple threats. Anyone could have been ‘Abhaya’. It is our responsibility that there is no more Abhaya. This is not a fight against the public, this fight is by and for the public.”

“On one hand, we are sitting on a hunger strike, while on the other we see a minor girl was raped and murdered. Many cases similar to RG Kar have happened after 9 August, still, all doctors except the six of us sitting here, have gone back to their duties to ensure no one faces any trouble during Navratri,” she said.

Earlier on Saturday, Dr Sayantani from West Bengal Junior Doctor’s Front said, “We are starting a hunger strike from now onwards. We waited for 58-59 days and presented our demands in front of the state government, but to no resort.”

The doctor said that six representatives from the West Bengal Junior Doctor’s Front will carry out the hunger strike.

“We, 6 people representing the West Bengal Junior Doctor’s Front, are going on an indefinite hunger strike. Our fight has been for justice for Abhaya from day one. Every doctor will provide their service to the people during the Navratri festival but we 6 doctors will be on an indefinite hunger strike,” said Dr Sayantani.

The doctors had called off their “total cease work” on Friday with a 24-hour ultimatum to the state government to fulfill their demands.

Earlier, another junior doctor said that the government has failed to improve the security and safety measures of hospitals.

“Our demand is simple. We’ve given the government time to improve the safety and security of hospitals. However, the government has failed to do so. They even admitted before the Supreme Court that only a few measures have been implemented,” said Parichay Panda, one of the protesting doctors.

Earlier, on Monday, the Supreme Court requested a report from the National Task Force concerning safety and other issues related to professionals in the case of the August 9 rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

A bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, issued this directive while hearing the suo motu petition regarding the incident.

The top court had previously constituted a National Task Force to examine safety concerns and consider developing an action plan to prevent gender-based violence and ensure a dignified working environment for interns, residents, and non-resident doctors.

On Wednesday, undergraduate and postgraduate students, junior doctors, and interns from North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri held a torchlight procession protesting the rape and murder of a woman doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Meanwhile, doctors from private hospitals lit earthen lamps at Ganga Ghat in Kolkata as a mark of protest over the same incident.

Pro-Khalistani protestors in Canada targets Hindu MP Chandra Arya with inflammatory slogans and posters

On Saturday, 5th October (local time), pro-Khalistani supporters protested against MP Chandra Arya at an event in Canada. They showed up at the venue of an event organised by the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) Canada and protested against Hindu Liberal MP Chandra Arya in Calgary, Canada. Khalistanis protesting against Arya raised slogans such as “Arya is Indian, not Canadian,” “Arya is Modi’s agent,” and “Go back, go back.”

In a video shared by investigative journalist Mocha Bezirgan on the social media platform X, Khalistani separatists were seen standing on an Indian flag. There was a poster featuring the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, the Foreign Affairs Minister of India, Dr S Jaishankar, and NSA Ajit Doval. The poster read, “Enemies of Sikhs. Face of Hindu terror. Wanted.”

In another video shared by Bezirgan, a resident of Inglewood, Calgary, approached the protesters and expressed dissatisfaction with the Khalistani protest in his neighbourhood, saying, “You are scaring people.” He asked the protesters to leave. The protesters asked him if he was with India or Canada, to which the resident replied, “I am for my neighbourhood.” When the resident said they were scaring the people living in the area, the Khalistani separatists claimed the slogans were “peaceful.”

The protest was organised by the Khalistani terrorist organisation Sikhs For Justice. In another poster about the assassination of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Dr S Jaishankar, PM Modi, and the High Commissioner of India in Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma, were called “Enemies of Canada.”

Yet another poster called to “Kill Modi Politics.” The poster mentioned the assassination of Nijjar and a so-called plot to kill SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

During Khalistani protest against Chandra Arya at CoHNA event, one of the protestors held a poster which had half the face of PM Modi and half the face of Chandra Arya, with the text, “Face of India’s foreign interference. Mr Chandra Arya, Indo-Canadian Hindu Terrorist.” The man holding the poster had covered his face.

Khalistani protest against Chandra Arya at CoHNA event was not the first time SFJ has targeted Chandra Arya. In July 2024, Pannun asked the MP to leave Canada. In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Arya said that our land (Canada) is being polluted by Khalistani extremists abusing our freedoms guaranteed by our Canadian Charter of Rights. Retaliating to the statement, Pannun released a video threatening him to leave Canada and “go back to India”.

He said, “The likes of Arya and his supporters. You have no place in Canada because you are working against Canadian values, you are working against the Charter of Rights and you are promoting the interests of your masters in India. You all must abandon your citizenship and move back to your motherland India. While you and your supporters Chandra Arya are promoting violence against pro-Khalistan Sikhs we the Khalistan Sikhs. The pro-Khalistan Sikhs, have proved for decades that we are loyal to Canada, we are loyal to Canadian values. On 28th July in Calgary, the Khalistan Referendum voting is dedicated to all the Shaheeds of Canada who went back to fight Indian forces in Punjab following Canadian values of fighting injustice and attaining martyrdom. We are dedicating the 28th July Calgary voting to all those Shaheeds. You Chandra Arya, you and your followers have no place in a democratic country like Canada.”

Pannun’s video was reply to Arya’s condemnation of the attack on a Hindu temple. In a post on X, he wrote, “The Hindu temple BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Edmonton is vandalized again. During the last few years, Hindu temples in Greater Toronto Area, British Columbia and other places in Canada are being vandalized with hateful graffiti. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of Sikhs for Justice last year publicly called for Hindus to go back to India. Khalistan supporters publicly celebrated in Brampton and Vancouver the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and brandishing images of deadly weapons. As I have always been saying, Khalistani extremists seems to get away with ease with their public rhetoric of hate and violence. Again, let me put on record. Hindu-Canadians are legitimately concerned. Like a broken record, I again call on Canadian law enforcement agencies to take this issue seriously before these rhetorics get translated into physical action against Hindu-Canadians.”

After Dasna Temple attacks, protests with ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ slogans by Muslim mobs erupt in several places

On 4th October, thousands of Islamists took to the streets to protest against Mahant Narsinghanand Saraswati’s remarks on Prophet Muhammad in the village of Sultanpur, Laskar, Haridwar district, Uttarakhand. The protesting Islamists raised slogans such as “Nara-e-Takbir Allah Hu Akbar”, “Fansi Do”, and “Sar Tan Se Juda”. Police were present at the scene but appeared outnumbered in the viral video of the incident.

This was neither the first, nor the last protest organised by Islamists against Narsinghanand for his controversial statement about Prophet Muhammad. On 4th October, a similar incident took place in Bulandshahr, where Islamists protested and indulged in stone pelting over remarks made by Dasna Temple Mahant Narsinghanand Saraswati. The incident occurred in the Sikandrabad area. A large number of Islamists gathered outside Hazrat Ali Mosque to protest against Narsinghanand’s statements about Prophet Muhammad.

During the protest, when the police tried to calm the situation, a section of the crowd started pelting stones at them. Inspector Ravi Ratan of Sikandrabad Kotwali was injured and subsequently rushed to the hospital for treatment. Following the stone-pelting incident, District Magistrate CP Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar rushed to the scene. Additional police forces were called to disperse the mob. The police took eight individuals into custody in connection with the violence. Surveillance across the region was also intensified to ensure peace. The police then initiated a crackdown on those involved in the stone-pelting, taking eight individuals into custody.

Similarly, on 4th October, a group of Muslim youth created chaos and unrest outside the Dasna Devi temple. The Ghaziabad police swung into action and dispersed the mob.

On Thursday (3rd October), the Uttar Pradesh police apprehended 3 Muslim men who entered the Dasna Devi temple near Ghaziabad by pretending to be Hindus. They were identified as Rahul, Nanak and Wazir Khan and hailed from Mathura district. As per reports, the trio used Hindu names and claimed to be a part of Ramlila to gain access to the temple headed by priest Yati Narsinghanand.

While speaking about the matter, ACP Lipi Nagayach informed, “During checks, the police on duty at the temple found that the three men were using Aadhaar cards with Hindu names though they are Muslims. They had arrived there to perform at the Ramlila. After inquiry, the men were arrested and booked for cheating by impersonation and defiling a place of worship. The group performing the Ramlila at the temple did not know that the men were Muslims.” The First Information Report read, “The three men had the intention of insulting the Hindu religion, and that is why they were trying to enter the temple.”

The development comes at a time when Islamists are threatening the Dasna temple priest with ‘Sar Tan se Juda (STSJ)’ threats after being prodded by Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair over his speech on Prophet Muhammad.

Remarks by Narsinghanand that led to multiple protests and incidents of violence

The protests stemmed from a statement made by Mahant Narsinghanand at an event where he stated, ”…Even thousands of years since Ravan committed a small mistake, we burn his effigy. But until now, such criminals have taken birth that Ravan’s existence would fail in front of them. I want to exhort all Hindus from this stage if you want to burn an effigy, burn the effigy of Mohammad.”

Yati Narsinghanand’s controversial past and an assassination attempt against him

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Islamists have targeted Narsinghanand for his remarks. In 2022, Narsinghanand was arrested after a woman filed a complaint against him for making derogatory remarks against women. Islamists had then alleged that he had called for the genocide of Muslims during an event called ‘Dharma Sansad’ where he had called upon Hindus to keep sharper weapons in self-defence against the looming threats posed by Islamists.

The near-constant barrage of online attacks by Islamists against Yati Narsinghanand came to a head in 2021 when Delhi Police foiled an assassination bid to kill him. Mohd. Dar, a JeM terrorist was arrested by the police and one .30 bore pistol along with two magazines and 15 live rounds were recovered from him. His belonging also included a Bhagwa kurta, a Kalava, a Mala and a Chandan-tika. The recovery of overtly Hindu symbols highlighted the modus operandi employed by Mumbai 26/11 terrorists who carried Hindu paraphernalia on their suicide mission to pin the blame of the attack on Hindus and in the process, promote the “Hindu terror” bogey, a fabrication that was conjured up by the UPA government to shield Islamic extremism.

Uttar Pradesh: Hindu man lives in fear as Muslims hound him for objecting to hoarding of Pakistani hate preacher Khadim Hussain Rizvi, seeks police protection

A Hindu man named Ashish Kumar has been living under fear ever since he complained to the police about hoardings, featuring radical hate preachers from Pakistan, which were put up on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi.

A resident of Mehdawal Nagar Panchayat in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, Kumar found hoardings of Khadim Hussain Rizvi and his son Saad Hussain Rizvi on full public display in September this year.

He tweeted about the matter and then filed a police complaint in this regard. Two Muslim men were arrested based on his complaint. However, Ashish soon became the subject of death threats.

According to the victim, two men came to his house on 24th September and threatened him with drastic consequences. On Thursday (3rd October), Ashish received another threat to his life.

Forced by circumstances, the Hindu man appealed to the SP Satyajit Gupta to provide him with police protection. In his application, Ashish informed that his family was scared and that those who issued threats were roaming freely on the streets.

He lamented that no action has been taken so far by the police administration. On receipt of his complaint, the SP handed over the case to the circle officer of Mehdawal. A probe has now been initiated into the matter.

Hindu organisations in the area have meanwhile expressed solidarity with Ashish Kumar.

Khadim Hussain Rizvi, STSJ and its influence in India

Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the Pakistani cleric featured on the hoarding in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, is the founder of an extremist party called Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

During his lifetime, Rizvi launched several campaigns to preserve the draconian blasphemy laws in Pakistan. He was a follower of 19th-century Islamic preacher, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi (the founder of the Barelvi sect).

TLP has been involved in several violent protests in Pakistan. They have killed law enforcement authorities and even coined the dangerous slogan of ‘Sarr Tann se Juda (beheading)’ for committing blasphemy (often described with Urdu terms such as ‘Toheen-e-Mazhab’ and ‘Gustaak-e-Rasool’).

TLP founder Khadim Hussain Rizvi has been the inspiration for several criminals, who committed murders of alleged blasphemers. In March 2019, a Muslim student named Khateeb Hussain stabbed his English Professor in Bahawalpur City of Pakistan after falsely accusing the latter of blasphemy.

Hussain’s eagerness to take credit for the murder paints an alarming picture of a boy who was inspired by videos of preacher Khadim Hussain Rizvi and possibly radicalised through social media,” a report in Dawn stated.

In 2018, another student in Chārsadda town of Pakistan shot dead his school Principal after accusing him of committing blasphemy. “I committed this murder and I accepted it. It was ordered by God (Allah),” the unnamed student confessed. He had attended meetings conducted by TLP in 2017.

The war cry of ‘Sarr Tann se Juda (STSJ)’ has been weaponised by radical Islamists residing in India to orchestrate attacks against the Hindu community.

In November 2023, Lareb Hashmi attacked a 24-year-old Hindu bus conductor with a cleaver on allegations of ‘blasphemy’. He was inspired by the teachings of Khadim Hussain Rizvi.

Islamists have also killed Kamlesh TiwariKanhaiya LalKishan Bharwad and other Hindus in the name of ‘Gustaak-e-Rasool.’

Karnataka: Brother of Janata Dal (Secular) MLA goes missing, damaged car found near Mangaluru’s Kulur bridge

0

Mangaluru police have launched a search operation after a businessman was reported missing early Sunday morning, officials said. The missing businessman, identified as Mumthaz Ali, is the brother of Janata Dal (Secular) MLC BM Farooq and former Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava.

According to officials, Ali left his house in his car around 3 am on Sunday and later stopped near the Kulur Bridge at around 5 am. His vehicle was found abandoned near the Kulur bridge, leading to suspicions that he may have jumped from the bridge.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police, Anupam Agarwal, who reached the spot after receiving the information, said that there were signs of damage on the vehicle. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Coast Guard have been called in to search the river to determine whether Ali had jumped from the bridge.

“Early this morning, we received information that businessman Mumthaz Ali’s vehicle was found near Kulur bridge. He might have jumped from the bridge. Local police reached the spot and initiated the investigation,” Mangaluru CP Anupam Agrawal said.

“As per the preliminary investigation, he left his house in his car around 3 am, drove around the city, and at around 5 am stopped his car near the Kulur bridge. The car has certain accidental marks, and shortly after that, his daughter informed the local police,” he added.

“SDRF and Coast Guard teams are searching the river to determine if he jumped in or if there is any other development,” he said. “We are further looking into the matter,” he added.

Further details are awaited.

Pakistan: Abrupt ‘disappearance’ of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Gandapur stokes rumors of his arrest amid protest in Islamabad

0

In addition to stoking rumours of his arrest, the sudden “disappearance” of fiery politician and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur raised numerous questions as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continued its demonstration in Islamabad for a second day on Saturday, Geo News reported.

In an interview with the Geo News program “Naya Pakistan” on Saturday, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, the KP CM’s information advisor, stated that CM Gandapur was escorted by his staff when Rangers men entered the KP House in Islamabad. “We would have known if Ali Amin Gandapur departed for Peshawar,” he said.

“No one has been able to contact the chief minister so far,” he added.

Additionally, he stated that he spoke with the chief minister over a satellite phone around eight in the morning today. As of right now, his whereabouts remain unclear.

Saif responded to rumours that Gandapur would be arrested, stating that it would be a contempt of court since the KP CM had been granted bail by the Peshawar High Court (PHC), reported Geo News.

He continued by saying that Article 248 of the Constitution grants exemptions to all elected officials.

It is important to know that shortly after Chief Minister Gandapur arrived in Islamabad and proceeded to the provincial government’s residence, large groups of police and Rangers stormed into the KP House in the federal capital earlier today.

However, sources closer to the government refuted the reports about the KP chief minister’s arrest by law enforcers.

Islamabad’s law and order situation is still precarious because, in an attempt to maintain security ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, the party founded by Imran Khan attempted to hold a protest at D-Chowk in the face of Section 144, which forbids political activities and gatherings in the twin cities.

Protests demanding the independence of the judiciary and the release of the opposition party’s founder, Imran, who has been detained at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for over a year, were started by the opposition party.

Law enforcement officers and partyworkers also got into fights, each saying the other had attacked them.

Police fired tear gas at the protesters on Saturday in the capital as well as the convoys tried to enter Islamabad, while the workers used slingshots to hit the law enforcers.
