As Indian government has suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan and stopped flow of water of several rivers to Pakistan, a new water war has emerged between Indian states Punjab and Haryana

The farmers have organised a "Chandigarh Chalo" protest on 5th March against Punjab government. Bhagwant Mann wanted them to withdraw the protest but they refused.

Union Minister for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu has filed a complaint with the DGP, Chandigarh Police, alleging physical and verbal abuse by Chandigarh Police officers during his visit to CM Bhagwant Mann's residence in Chandigarh.

Punjab government officials being removed and appointed alongside the cabinet reshuffle at the whims of the top leader of the ruling party in Delhi indicates that Punjab’s autonomy is more a decorative concept than a reality.

"On every issue, you say that they are terrorists and separatists. If farmers hold protests, they are called terrorists...it is wrong," CM Bhagwant Mann said adding that Punjab feeds the nation and Punjabis have made sacrifices for the country.

Kaur is the party's candidate for the Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency. Mann said that her resignation had not been received and openly criticized the decision she made.

One of the farmers said, "Farmers and labourers are burning the effigy of the Bhagwant Mann government. Bhagwant Mann's government has backstabbed the farmers of Punjab."

According to reports, 21-year-old Shubhkaran Singh, a Bathinda local, was slain and 12 police officers were injured in clashes at the Khanauri border post on the Punjab-Haryana border on 21st February. The incident transpired as several protesting farmers attempted to approach the barricades.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann claimed that the party will fight all the 13 LS seats in the state alone and not ally with the Congress.

The early-morning clash in Kapurthala gurdwara on 24th November last year left several wounded and claimed the life of a Punjab Police home guard.
