Assam Police seized drugs worth over Rs 11 crore in Karbi Anglong district on Monday. The haul included morphine and heroin recovered during two separate operations at Dillai Tiniali and Lahorijan. One person was arrested, drawing praise from CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
"Law enforcement authorities have seized a staggering Rs 10 crore worth of heroin and apprehended three smugglers in a carefully orchestrated operation based on intelligence from the Superintendent of Police of North District", Tripura police informed.
The arrested accused were reportedly part of a larger drug smuggling racket which is being operated by suspected masterminds and smugglers who are sitting across the border.
One iron ring was affixed to the cargo, along with a large packet wrapped in yellow adhesive tape which contained two suspected heroin packets and two smaller packets of opium, according to the BSF.
