Chapters on the lives and sacrifices of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Brigadier Mohammad Usman, and Major Somnath Sharma have been added to the NCERT syllabus in this academic year, in Class VIII (Urdu), Class VII (Urdu), and Class VIII (English), respectively.

“This terminology is based on established archaeological scholarship, not on any recent political influence. So, this is not a Hindutva thing. Moreover, we have included all alternative names. To me, this is factual,” the visiting professor at IIT Gandhinagar said.
“A three-dome structure (that) was built at the site of Shri Ram’s birthplace in 1528, but the structure had visible displays of Hindu symbols and relics in its interior as well as its exterior portions,” the new text reads.
