On Sunday, 20th October, when the police and Hindu activists arrived at Bijju’s rented house, they found women and children sitting on the ground while Bijju and his wife were seated on chairs and inciting them against Hinduism. “Love the one who loves you. Today is Karva Chauth but the family does not love you, God does, so take refuge in God,” Bijju was heard saying.
Vinod Mishra, an eyewitness to this attack, said that the Muslim mob attacked Hindu devotees after being incited from the mosque. The Bahraich police had termed his claim on social media as 'misleading'.
Bahraich Police dismissed Hindu eyewitness accounts, citing unrest, raising concerns over justice being compromised in favour of maintaining order and silencing key testimony.
BJP Yuva Morcha city president Arpit Srivastava dismissed the case filed against him as fake, stating that he had protested against BJP MLA's son for hurling abuses.
