Congress dismisses assassination threat to PM Modi by calling it ‘old tactic’

In a shocking revelation, Pune police have stated that a letter found by them suggested plans to assassinate PM Modi in a ‘Rajiv Gandhi’ type incident. This has been revealed after news reports came yesterday that a letter written to Rona Wilson unmasked an alleged Congress-Maoist nexus to spread caste-based violence in the country.

The said letter reportedly stated about arranging funds of about Rs 8 crores for procurement of M-4 rifles and 4 lakh rounds to target one of PM Modi’s road shows. Even as the news has generated shock all over the country, some people are busy dissing it as a mere propaganda. From downplaying the threat to blaming the PM himself, these people have displayed that they play by double standards.

Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam, who had just 2 days back expressed his fears of being ‘stalked’ by the Mumbai Police, has stated today that the assassination threat on PM Modi is probably a tactic by the PM to address his ‘declining popularity’.

Sitaram Yechury, who is usually very vocal on the democracy being supposedly in danger, also chose to ignore the issue and refused to condemn the threat on the life of a democratically elected Prime Minister.

Interestingly, Ravish Kumar, Rana Ayub, and Barkha Dutt herself, who were claiming that they are being harassed and are receiving death threats are maintaining absolute silence over the issue too. Many media persons and opinion makers on social media who outraged a lot on Twitter over alleged threats to Burkha Dutt did not even post a reaction on Times Now’s Anand Narasimhan getting threatened by Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh’s Prakash Ambedkar either.
