FIR registered against AAP MLA Somnath Bharti for insulting and outraging modesty of a woman

Yesterday, Bharti became aggressive during his interaction with a woman journalist and abused her on air, asking her to seek prostitution.

An FIR is filed against Aam Admi Party MLA Somnath Bharti for insulting and outraging the modesty of a woman journalist. As per a copy tweeted by AAP rebel leader Kapil Mishra, the FIR has been filed under sections 504 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code.

Bharti was speaking in relation to the recent incident of throwing Red Chilli powder on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. During the interaction, Bharti became aggressive and said that the channel will be closed after 2019. He then abused the woman journalist and said ‘bh*dwagiri’ karna band karo’ and ‘dh*ndhe pe baith jao‘.

He has earlier been accused of domestic violence and attempted murder by his wife. She has also accused him of causing miscarriage without the consent of the woman. In 2014, Bharti had carried out a midnight raid in Khirki Extension where Bharti and his aides had allegedly assaulted a Ugandan woman.
