MEA sources have said today, “Immediate, credible and verifiable action against terror is required before any such conversation. Imran Khan should now walk the talk on dealing with terrorism. That is our message to Pakistan and the International community”. And with this, India has made clear that for any talks to take place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan PM Imran Khan, first, Imran Khan needs to take ‘Immediately, credible and verifiable’ action against terrorism that breeds on its soil.
There has been a lot of chatter about “India escalating the tension between India and Pakistan” and also, how India is the one to breach Pakistan’s borders first. It has been clarified that India merely exercised its right to self-defence by attacking Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camps. In fact, India has also reiterated that it was Pakistan that escalated the situation by attacking India’s military assets where India never started the aggression against Pakistan’s sovereignty.
Several times have Indian peaceniks iterated that the solution to this conflict is only “talks”. While such talks in the past have never worked, India has also reiterated that any talk is only possible if Pakistan delivers on its promise and takes verifiable action against terror sponsored by Pakistan.
The pertinent point to note here is that after yesterday, Pakistan tried to target India’s military assets again today, which was successfully thwarted by India.
Pakistan then said that they are willing to “return Abhinandan” if India de-escalates. India, however, has made clear that Pakistan is trying to use Abhinandan to create a Kandahar type hysteria but India will not give in.
