Gurjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla and Vijay Bainsla join BJP

Earlier, BJP had entered into an alliance with Hanuman Beniwal's RLP in Rajasthan.

BJP has strengthened itself in the state of Rajasthan with the Gurjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla and his son Vijay Bainsla officially joining the party in presence of the Union Minister Prakash Javdekar on Wednesday.


The face of Gurjar movement, Kirori Singh Bainsla is a retired Colonel who served the Army in the Rajputana Rifles regiment and fought the 1962 Indo-Sino war and 1965 Indo-Pak war. He was taken as Prisoner of War in the latter. After retiring from the Army, he has dedicated his life fighting for the reservations of Gurjars. Bainsla has been engaged in the Gurjar reservation movement from the last 14 years.

While joining the BJP Bainsla said, “I have seen both Congress and BJP CMs’ work in Rajasthan. I am joining BJP because I’m impressed by PM Narendra Modi. He empathises with the poorest in our country. I will fight for those who are deprived of justice.” With Kirori Bainsla joining the BJP, the party stands to gain in 9 out of the 25 seats in the state. Some of the Lok Sabha seats where Bainsla can have a positive impact for the BJP are- Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, etc.

Prior to this, the BJP had stitched up several alliances with the regional parties to fortify their prospects in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. BJP has formed an alliance with Hanuman Beniwal’s RLP in Rajasthan, who is said to have a direct influence on 9 Lok Sabha seats. BJP has also joined hands with the Nishad Party in Uttar Pradesh to take on the SP-BSP alliance.
