Suspended BJP MLA Pravin Singh ‘Champion’ asks for security even as state unit recommends permanent suspension for him

Singh has been at the centre of controversies.

The suspended BJP MLA Pranav Singh Champion has requested for security cover from Dehradun police alleging threat to him and his family. In a viral video, Singh could be seen dancing on ‘Mujhko Rana ji Maaf Karna’ while brandishing guns and assault rifles.

BJP had recently suspended Singh for 3 months after he allegedly misbehaved with a journalist. Following his viral video, the BJP Uttarakhand unit has now further requested the central leadership to permanently suspend him.

Singh, in his defence said that the viral video is an intrusion in his privacy. He stated that the guns were licensed, empty and unloaded and were not pointed at anybody. He added that there was nothing wrong in dancing with the guns.

This is not the first time that Singh has been seen in viral videos brandishing guns. In the past too, BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ from Uttarakhand was seen dancing to popular Bollywood songs while brandishing guns. In 2015, another dancing video of the MLA had gone viral where Pranav Singh was again seen dancing with guns in his hand. However, he was then a Congress MLA.

Singh has been at the centre of controversies. Last month, Singh was suspended from the BJP for three months as a punishment for his rowdy behaviour after he purportedly misbehaved with a journalist. It was reported that Singh was asking for the BJP MP ticket for his wife from the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat.
