In an exemplary act, former India cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir announced in a tweet on Sunday that his foundation will take care of “100 children of martyred soldiers.” Reportedly, East Delhi BJP MP Gautam Gambhir runs the Gautam Gambhir Foundation, which is a charitable organisation that primarily supports the children of martyred soldiers.
Making these angels smile is one of the biggest achievements of my life. Congratulations to GG Foundation! Proud to share that we will be taking care of 100 children of martyrs. Their fathers sacrificed their lives for our nation and now its our turn to show how grateful we are! pic.twitter.com/SVtCjq73lA

The Gautam Gambhir Foundation aims at supporting children of slain armed personnel and providing post-trauma counselling and 100 per cent funding of education of intervened children.
The NGO aims at empowering adolescent girls (15 -18 years) by improving their socio-economic development. This will be achieved by providing education in hygiene, nutrition and motivate them to complete their education.
This is not the first time that cricketer-turned-politician has involved in such philanthropic activities. In 2017, Gautam Gambhir had pledged to donate IPL earnings to families of the martyrs of the Sukma Naxal attacks. In addition to that, he stated his desire to fund the education of children of the affected families.
He had also donated funds to former Indian Boxer Dingko when he was suffering from bile duct cancer.
Gautam Gambhir contested and successfully won from the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He won this year’s Lok Sabha elections by a margin of over three lakh votes. The 37-year-old former opener defeated Congress’ Arvinder Singh Lovely and Atishi Marlena of AAP.
