Watch: Rahul Gandhi unceremoniously refuses to wear the Mysuru Peta, traditional headgear of Karnataka

In his visit to Mysuru on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi was felicitated with a huge garland. However, the Congress President unceremoniously refused to wear the Mysuru Peta.

He can be seen shoving away the classical royal attire worn by the Kings of the Wodeyar dynasty. The traditional headgear was also worn by men attending the king’s Court.

The traditional headgear is deeply embedded in the culture of the state. It is often presented to honour visiting dignitaries or guests. BJP President Amit Shah had also worn the Mysuru Peta during his visit to Karnataka last year.
