The twitter account of Bastar Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of ‘Urban Naxal’ Abhay Devdas Nayak who was supposedly propagating the extremist ideology in the Maoist influenced region:

As per the tweet above, Nayak had travelled from Bangalore to Bastar to propagate the Maoist ideology. Following his arrest, which was termed as a great success by the Bastar police, the authorities claimed that he had confessed about his Maoist association during interrogation.
As per a Hindi News18 report, Nayak used to be part of an urban Naxal network and had even travelled to 15 countries for propagating the extremist ideology. The report claims that the police had been in the process of arresting Nayak for the past one and a half years, and finally succeeded, following his latest foreign trip which ended on 31 May.
Nayak was involved in propagating press releases of the leftist terror outfits and radicalising the youth, if a Patrika report is to be believed. The report also claimed that he was arrested from the Jagdalpur region of the Bastar district.
Incidentally such an arrest by the Bastar police comes days after the Pune police had arrested five suspected urban Maoists over charges of inciting the Bhima Koregaon violence in January. One of those arrested named Rona Wilson is being accused of plotting the assassination of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
