Indian Railways to run exclusive trains for women on Rakshabandhan

The Indian Railways has decided to roll out special trains for women on the occasion of Rakshabandhan which will be celebrated on 26th August, Sunday.

The special trains are scheduled to run three different routes starting from New Delhi station to Palwal, Ghaziabad and Panipat on Sunday to enable the easier travel of women to meet their brothers on this special day, dedicated to the celebration of sibling relationships.

The festival celebrated every year in the month of Shrawan, is symbolised with sisters tying ‘Rakhi’ or holy thread, bracelet on the wrist of their brothers as a form an expression of deep bonding and protection.

The Indian Railways is coming up with innovative ideas to spread the Indian culture throughout the country. Recently, the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express, which travels from Darbhanga of Bihar to Delh, was decorated with the elegant Madhubani paintings of the traditional Mithila artform.

The Indian Railways has also encouraged the zonal divisions to promote the art forms of the region on trains and railway stations. Recently, the Madhubani Railway station of Bihar had grabbed national attention when the station was beautifully decorated with Madhubani paintings by local artists. Similarly, Raja ki Mandi station of the UP is depicted with ‘Ram Bharat’ paintings depicting the wedding of Lord Shri Ram and Sita mata.
