Need local candidate, not outsider: Delhi Congress workers stage protest against the candidature of Kanhaiya Kumar from North East Delhi seat

The brewing internal rifts within the Congress party have come out in the public as angry Congress workers staged a massive protest against Kanhaiya Kumar, the party’s candidate from the North East Delhi seat. Highlighting that Kumar is an ‘outsider’ in this seat, the Congress workers held black posters with “need local candidate not outsider” written on them.

Notably, the development comes hours after state Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from his post on Sunday morning citing interference in functioning and alliance with ‘liar’ Aam Aadmi Party. In his resignation letter, Lovely accused Kanhaiya Kumar of praising the AAP and its chief Arvind Kejriwal which was against the belief of party workers. 

Lovely said, “The candidate from North East Delhi (Kanhaiya Kumar) has also been giving media bytes falsely praising the Delhi CM, in direct contravention of the party line and local party workers’ beliefs.” 

It is pertinent to note that arch-rival Congress and AAP are jointly fighting the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi under the I.N.D.I. Alliance. Notably, the two parties are not in alliance in Punjab. As per the seat-sharing formula for Delhi, Congress is contesting on three seats while AAP is contesting on the remaining four seats. However, two Congress candidates have faced stiff protests since the announcement of their candidature. 

In his letter, Arvinder Singh Lovely highlighted that the announcement of the candidature of Kanhaiya Kumar and Udit Raj who is contesting from the North West Delhi seat, was not taken well by Congress leaders and workers, who consider them as “outsiders”.

Following this development, several Congress workers from the Delhi unit stood outside Kumar’s newly inaugurated office holding black posters and shouting ‘outsider’ labels against him. As per reports, after the announcement, the Congress party has been divided into two factions with a substantive number of party workers demanding that the candidate for these seats be changed. The two factions reportedly had aggressive arguments and manhandled supporters of the other side. 

As per ANI video footage, supporters of Arvind Singh Lovely heckled and manhandled former Congress MLA Asif Mohammad Khan when he argued that the former Congress state Chief should have tendered his resignation in private. 

Amidst the infighting between supporters, senior Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit who is the son of late former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit also argued that the party should carefully consider the points raised by Arvind Singh Lovely in his letter, alluding his support to the agitated party workers over the two controversial candidates. 

Earlier, it was reported that Arvinder Singh Lovely as DPCC president had convened a meeting to deliberate on the Congress’s future strategy. However, tensions flared up in the meeting after a war of words erupted between Kanhaiya Kumar and Sandeep Dikshit.

The verbal exchange reportedly erupted between the two leaders after Kumar allegedly responded to Dikshit’s allegations that his candidature hurt the party’s performance elsewhere in the national capital.

Meanwhile, Congress had announced Kanhaiya Kumar’s candidature from Northeast Delhi weeks after it finalised the seat-sharing formula in Bihar, the state from which Kumar originally hails. 

The Former JNUSU President Kumar, who fought from a CPI(M) ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, suffered an ignominious loss to BJP’s Giriraj Singh from the Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency. He later joined the Congress party and seemed to have forged a close bond with Rahul Gandhi, senior Congress leader and former party president. 

He rose to the media limelight in the Seditious Remarks case in which several JNU Student union leaders were accused of raising anti-India slogans including chants of ‘Tukde-tukde’ (balkanisation) of India.

Several videos of the controversial Former left-wing Student leader are also doing rounds on the internet in which he could be heard making objectionable remarks about the Indian army alleging that in Kashmir, women are raped by security personnel.

Meet Ujjwal Nikam – Former public prosecutor behind the death penalty for Ajmal Kasab and BJP’s Lok Sabha Candidate from Mumbai North Central

On 27th April, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded former special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam as its Lok Sabha candidate from the Mumbai North Central seat. Nikam has several high-profile cases including the 1993 Bombay bombing, the Gulsham Kumar murder case, the Pramod Mahajan murder case, and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Congress has fielded Varsha Gaikwad from that seat. Notably, sitting MP Poonam Mahajan has been from the seat. As per reports, Mahajan was dropped based on the organisational feedback after several poll surveys yielding negative ratings for her.

Who is Ujjwal Nikam?

Ujjwal Nikam is a former special public prosecutor who contested several high-profile cases. He was born in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. Nikam started his career as a district prosecutor in Jalgain and slowly progressed to state and national trials.

Nikam has contested many cases on State’s behalf including the 1993 Bombay bombings, the Pramod Mahajan murder case, the Gulshan Kumar murder case, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the 2013 Mumbai gang rape case, the 2016 Kopardi rape and Muder case and more.

Nikam became the reason behind the death penalty for Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist who was caught alive in the 26/11 Bombay terrorist attack. He was awarded Padma Shri by the government of India in 2016. Nikam has a 30-year-long career during which he secured 628 life imprisonment and 37 death penalties.

Nikam worked for over 14 years in the special court established under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act. In 2009, he was provided Z-plus security after he became prosecutor in 26/11 case.

PM Modi’s work inspired Ujjwal Nikam to join politics

In a statement to the media, Nikam said he decided to join politics after observing the nation’s transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed a desire to contribute to the development of the nation. Speaking to India Today, he said, “I was far away from politics. But seeing how the nation has transformed since 2014, I started observing minutely the image India has built globally, and for this, PM Modi and the BJP are to be credited. Their dedication towards India and its people, I then felt that the time was right for me to do something more for the country.”

He Praised PM Modi on the steps taken against terrorism. He added, “I know that you can face a lot of false allegations in politics, but I assure you that if somebody points out my mistakes, I will try to fix them. I was born on Hanuman Jayanti, and I hope that by God’s grace, I won’t make any mistakes.”

After his nomination, he expressed a desire to learn from sitting MP Poonam Mahajan, whom he has replaced. He said, “I have known Poonamji as I represented the state during the trial of her father’s murder. I had seen how hard-working she was during the case. She has so much experience…I hope to get her assistance as I represent the constituency.”

Nikam once came under fire during the 26/11 trials as he reportedly “cooked up” the story that Kasab demanded Biryani in jail. Later, he told reporters that he made up the story to break the “emotional wave” that was being created in favour of the terrorist.

BJP leader Saraswati Sarkar attacked in West Bengal while putting up posters for Debasree Chaudhuri, BJP says no woman is safe in the state

On Saturday (28th April) night, a BJP leader named Saraswati Sarkar was reportedly attacked by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers while she was campaigning for party MP Debasree Chaudhuri.

The incident took place in the Anadapur neighbourhood in Kasba, which falls under the Kolkata Dakshin Lok Sabha constituency of West Bengal.

According to a report by AajTak Bangla, Saraswati Sarkar is the President of Kasba Mahila Mandal. She along with several BJP workers were attacked while they were putting up posters in support of BJP MP Debasree Chaudhuri.

In visuals that have now surfaced on social media, the injured BJP leader was seen bleeding from her head. When AajTak Bangla talked to a BJP worker, she informed, “Saraswati Sarkar was hit on the head with the butt of a gun. It was done by TMC workers.”

In the meantime, BJP MP Debasree Chaudhuri met the victim at her residence. A complaint was also filed with Anandapur police station but no accused has been arrested so far.

In a tweet, Chaudhuri stated, “Protest at Anandapur Police Station against brutal attack by TMC Goons on Kasba Mondal President. Officer-in-charge of Anandapur PS is missing, they have to arrest culprits who attacked Saraswati Sarkar.”

BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya also lashed out at the TMC government and said, “No woman is safe in West Bengal. Last night, TMC goons targeted Saraswati Sarkar, BJP’s Kasba Mondal President (in South Kolkata).”

“Mamata Banerjee is a colossal disaster as Home Minister of Bengal. Imagine if Kolkata is not safe, how bad would Sandeshkhali be. People of Bengal will respond to these atrocities,” he added

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha also condemned the attack on Saraswati Sarkar and said, “The people of West Bengal are watching it & will answer it.”

Recently, Trinamool Congress MLA Hamidul Rehman was threatening people against voting for the BJP. “Don’t dare to waste your vote and commit mischief. The central force will leave on 26th and you will be left here with our forces,” the TMC MP from the Chopra constituency was heard saying.

He further threatened, “At that time, do not complain about the tragedy that will befall your fate.” Hamidul Rehman subtly reminded voters about the TMC’s Khela of violence during the 2021 Vidhan Sabha elections and the 2023 Panchayat polls.

Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha election, Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has made a significant announcement regarding reservations. On 28th April, he stated that his organisation had never been against granting reservations to specific groups. He made the comment during a speech at a Hyderabad-based educational institution. According to him, the RSS believed that reservations should exist as long as they are required. The development transpired after the verbal sparring between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party about reservations.

“There is a video circulating that claims RSS opposes reservations. It is claimed that while we support it in public, we object to it behind closed doors since we are unable to speak about it outside. There is a video circulating that claims RSS rejects reservations. Now, this is completely erroneous and untrue. The Sangh has consistently upheld the constitutionally mandated reservations and affirmed very rightly that those who benefit from it should continue to until they face discrimination in society,” he conveyed.

Notably, last year Mohan Bhagwat remarked in Nagpur that reservations should be granted as long as there is social prejudice. According to him, discrimination exists everywhere in society, even when it is not visible. He has reiterated the same stand time and again on different occasions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the opposition of trying to “steal” reservations intended for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs) to benefit their preferred Muslim vote base during election rallies in the Bihar Lok Sabha constituencies of Araria and Munger on 26th April. The opposition parties, he further asserted, wanted to impose religion-based reservation if they were to win the Lok Sabha elections, in contrast to his own objective of winning 400 seats to stop them and protect the quotas for Dalits and Other Backward Classes.

Importantly, Chief Minister Siddaramiah-led Congress government classified the entire Muslim community as a backward caste for OBC quota reservation in Karnataka. The decision drew criticism from the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) which highlighted that this categorization runs counter to the principles of social justice. All Muslim castes and groupings have been labelled as socially and educationally backwards under Category IIB on the State List of Backward Classes, according to data supplied by the Karnataka Backward Classes Welfare Department.

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who recently appeared on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show,’ revealed that he learned the power of ‘Namaste’ while shooting for his 2016 film Dangal in a small village in Punjab. Aamir Khan asserted that as a Muslim, he was not used to folding his hands for Namaste, but his experiences in Punjab made him realise that it is a wonderful emotion. 

While praising the humility and hospitality of the people of Punjab, Aamir Khan asserted, “After spending those two and a half months in Punjab, I understood the power of ‘Namaste’ (gesturing with folded hands). It’s such a wonderful emotion.”

Notably, Aamir Khan appeared for the first time on Kapil Sharma’s popular comedy show, ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show‘, which is streaming on Netflix. During the episode, the Bollywood actor narrated several anecdotes from his acting career.  

Aamir emphasised that he had a great shooting experience in Punjab when he first went there for ‘Rang De Basanti’ and later for ‘Dangal’. 

Aamir said in Hindi, “This is a story that is very close to me. We shot for ‘Rang de Basanti’ in Punjab, and I really loved it there. The people, the Punjabi culture… people are so full of love. So, when we went for the shoot of ‘Dangal,’ it was a small village we were shooting in. We shot for more than two months in that location and that house.”

He added, “You won’t believe it, but when I used to reach there at around 5 or 6 in the morning, as my car entered, people would stand outside their homes just to welcome me with folded hands and ‘Sat Sri Akaal’. ” 

The actor stressed that the locals never disturbed him or stopped his car, they used to wait and greet him. 

Aamir Khan continued, “They used to just wait and welcome me. They never disturbed me, never stopped my car, nothing. After my pack-up, when I would return, they would again be standing outside their homes and would greet me ‘Good Night.'”

Aamir Khan further pointed out that being a Muslim, he was not used to folding his hands in Namaste, despite that, he learned its power and that it is a wonderful emotion during his stay in Punjab. 

Aamir said, “I belong to a Muslim family, I am not used to folding my hands in ‘Namaste.’ I’m used to raising my hand (gesturing an adaab, the way Muslims greet each other) and bowing my head. After spending those two and a half months in Punjab, I understood the power of ‘Namaste.’ It’s such a wonderful emotion.”

For those unversed, in India, it is a tradition to greet each other with folded hands and say ‘Namaste’. It is also considered a Hindu way of greeting. ‘Namaste’ is an ancient word which also finds mentions in Sanskrit scriptures. Aamir Khan-starrer movie, ‘Dangal’ is based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his four daughters to become international-level wrestlers.

Prachi Nigam, who scored an astounding 98.50 per cent in the Uttar Pradesh Board Class 10 examination, and who was ridiculed online for having facial hair, voiced her dismay at being a topper and gaining traction on social media. In an interview with BBC News Hindi, the beaming young girl resented the fact that her looks was garnering more attention on online platforms than her accomplishments.

Prachi Nigam said, “A few lesser marks in exams wouldn’t have made me popular on social media, and I wouldn’t have faced such trolling for my facial hair. The first time I noticed long hair growing on my face after topping the high school board was because of the trolls. But, a few people even defended me and shut off trolls by educating them that such facial hair in girls is often a result of hormonal changes.”

Prachi’s physical features elicited no comments from anyone at home or school and she never paid any attention to it either. However, the girl revealed the constant harassment she has now been facing in person due to her physical attributes. “It obviously feels bad, but people write (on social media) what they think and nothing can be done about it,” Prachi Nigam added.

The never-ending phone calls and media interviews have also irritated Prachi. “A common topic of conversation in each interview is trolling. For the past week, people have been asking me how I look. I want to concentrate on my studies for the time being and I will take treatment when I need it”, she added.

Prachi Nigam also mentioned that she is determined to follow her aspirations to become an engineer after passing the IIT-JEE exam. After the first two days, Prachi abstained from using social media so that troll statements wouldn’t interfere with her academic progress. Nonetheless, she expressed gratitude to them for bringing her such early social media fame. She observed that if her facial hair weren’t so prominent, she wouldn’t be trolled and that there wouldn’t be as many people around her. However, she wants to concentrate on her education right now to pass the IIT JEE exam and pursue a career in engineering.

Mamta Nigam, her mother, also talked to the broadcaster about how she helped her daughter stay motivated when trolls interfered with their festivities. “I encouraged my daughter to not pay heed to the trolls, and to my surprise, many social media users even supported my daughter after a couple of days”, Mamta Nigam said.

Mamta Nigam also disclosed that she had intended to take her daughter to the doctor, but “the results happened, and the trolling came her way before we could take action.” She further informed, “Her treatment will now be undertaken by the government.” Prachi’s father, Chandra Prakash Nigam, maintained that although he and his family were concerned by the trolling, he wasn’t bothered by it. He said, “There are all sorts of people in society. We naturally felt bad, but at the same time, we are proud of our daughter for having achieved the maximum marks.”

In addition to her family members, Prachi’s friends and school principal also spoke out in favour of the brilliant student and labelled the trolling regrettable. Her school principal asserted, “We were already hoping to find Prachi’s name amongst the toppers, and by securing such marks, she has made the entire Uttar Pradesh proud.”

‘Caliphate is the solution’: Islamists storm streets of Hamburg shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’, demand caliphate in Germany led by ‘converted’ student and his ‘pop-Islamist’ followers

In an Islamist demonstration of power, around 1,100 protestors stormed the streets in the St. Georg district of Hamburg on Saturday (27th April) demanding the establishment of a Caliphate in Germany. According to the German authorities, the event was organised by a person named Raheem Boateng who is linked to an “established extremist group”, Muslim Interaktiv. The radical Islamist group has also shared videos of the rally on social media. 

In the photos and videos that have gone viral, the Islamist mob can be seen demonstrating on the busy Steindamm Street in the city center. Several demonstrators could be seen holding placards and posters that read: “Germany = dictatorship of values”, “Kalifat ist die Lösung“ (Translate – “Caliphate is the solution”), and “Palestine has won the information war”. The mob also chanted “Allahu Akbar” throughout the event, as per German media.

As per German media reports, the speakers called for an Islamic caliphate to be established in Germany. In one of the viral videos, one speaker can be heard describing the caliphate as a “system that… provides security” but is “hated” and “demonised” in Germany which is cheered by the mob with the chants of “Allahu Akbar.”

The Islamists, part of the rally, claimed that the motto of the rally was “Don’t obey the liars”. The organisers claimed that the rally was to protest against so-called Islamophobic policies (of the German government) and alleged media disinformation campaigns against Muslims in Germany while reporting on the Israel-Hamas war.

The demonstrators held posters against German media outlets “Bild”, WELT, “Spiegel”, “Focus” and the “Tagesschau” accusing them of being deaf, dumb, and blind. A representative of “Muslim Interaktiv” previously called for a “demonstration against media incitement to Islam” on the Instagram channel.

The rally demanding Caliphate in Germany was organised by ‘Established Extremist group’, an offshoot of the banned outfit along with a ‘converted’ college student and his pop-Islamists follower: German media

As per German media reports, the organiser of the rally was identified by the Hamburger Morgenpost as Joe Adade Boateng (25) who calls himself Raheem Boateng. Boateng is a German citizen who converted to Islam in 2015 and is now a self-styled imam. As per a report in “Hamburger Abendblatt”, the 25-year-old is studying to be a teacher at Hamburg University, but on Instagram and TikTok he is a kind of Islamist influencer.

He spreads what the paper described as “Islamist propaganda” on social media, including TikTok. According to media reports, the man is also a member of Muslim Interaktiv – an organisation officially designated by the Domestic Security Service (BfV) as an “established extremist group.” It is pertinent to note that this status does not lead to an automatic ban in Germany. However, it allows security officials to take measures against members of the outlet with all available intelligence tools, including covert surveillance, confidential informants, and phone tapping.

Additionally, according to the Hamburg Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Muslim Interaktiv is an ideologically offshoot of the Islamist Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT) that wants to establish a caliphate – dictatorship based on Sharia law. The group has been banned from operating since 2003, the report added. 

According to German outlets, Boateng and Muslim Interaktiv specifically target and radicalises young Muslims in Germany by addressing their problems like perceived discrimination. They present the supposedly simple solution as choosing/prioritising between two issues – German or Muslim, Koran or Basic Law.

As per reports, DFB national player Antonio Rüdiger in particular courted controversy in recent weeks after he showed the Islamist salute – “Tauhid” finger aka ISIS finger, as per German outlets, on his Instagram account and shouted “Allahu Akbar” after a game. However, after his act, Muslim Interactive came out to extend solidarity with him. 


Meanwhile, some participants also waved flags depicting the Islamic creed, the Shahada. They also held up their index finger, the so-called tawheed finger. In Islam, this is considered a symbol of the unity and uniqueness of God but is also used as a symbol by Islamists, German outlet WELT reported.

Repeated occurrence of Islamist rallies in Hamburg, Germany

However, this is not the first time that the Muslim Interaktiv group has called for and carried out an Islamist rally in Germany. In March 2023, the outfit gathered in Hamburg shouting “Allahu Akbar” and raising the slogan: “The future belongs to the Koran”. 

Later in October 2023, shortly after Hamas terrorists attacked Israel in which 1,200 people were killed, the outfit demonstrated with Islamist flags that were modeled on the lines of Taliban and Al Qaeda flags. Back then, the rally had ended in clashes with Police in which they hurled bottles and stones at officers, injuring them. 

The Islamist rallies and call for the establishment of a Caliphate in Germany have sparked concerns among German politicians. 

Kazim Abaci is a migration policy spokesman for the Social Democratic faction in the Hamburg parliament. Abaci called it “unbearable” that Islamists were allowed to freely march through the streets. 

Likewise, Hamburger Morgenpost reported that Herbert Reul, the interior minister of the neighbouring German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has called for a ban on Muslim Interaktiv “for a long time.”

Tearing into Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remark that “Rajas and Maharajas used to take away lands”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Wayanad MP doesn’t speak a word on the atrocities committed by the “Nawabs, Nizams, Sultans, and Badhshahs”, adding that the statement was intended at appeasing a certain ‘vote bank’.

Addressing a mega public meeting at Belagavi in Congress-ruled Karnataka on Sunday, PM Modi said, “The Shehzada of the Congress said recently that our Rajas and Maharajas back in the day were ruthless. They snatched or took away the humble assets of the poor at their whim. The Shehzada insulted the revered Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Rani Chennamma, whose good governance and patriotism still fill us with national pride and honour. Does he not have any knowledge of the contribution of the royal family of Mysuru who we all regard very highly and are proud of?”

Claiming that the Congress leader was silent on the excesses and atrocities committed by Muslim emperors on their peasants, he added, “The Shehzada’s was carefully calibrated, on purpose, to appease a certain vote bank. He did not utter a single word on the atrocities committed by the Nawabs, Nizams, Sultans, and Badhshahs (on their peasants). The Congress seems to have forgotten the grave excesses perpetrated by (Mughal emperor) Aurangzeb, who destroyed thousands of our temples.”

Invoking the glorious legacies of the Hindu rulers and emperors, PM Modi said all that Rahul cares about is his ‘vote bank’.

Earlier, addressing a public meeting in the state, Rahul said, “Many Rajas, Maharajas ruled us back in the day. They did whatever they wished and took away the land of their peasants at will. It was the Congress and its workers who, along with freedom fighters, brought us independence from our oppressors and restored democracy and the rule of law to the country.”

Also taking aim at the ruling Congress over the prevailing law and order situation in the state, PM Modi said, “Since the Congress came to power in Karnataka, the law and order situation in the state has been on a free-fall. The incident in Hubballi (the daylight murder of a sitting Congress corporator’s daughter) shook the country’s conscience. When the bereaved family sought action, the ruling Congress, yet again, preferred appeasement over justice. They do not value the lives of our daughters like Neha (Hiremath). All they care about is their vote bank.”

Neha (23), the daughter of Congress councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, Niranjan Hiremath, was stabbed to death on the campus of BVB College on April 18.

The accused, Fayaz Khondunaik, who fled the scene after the stabbing attack, was subsequently arrested.

Neha was a first-year MCA student and the assailant, Fayaz, was her former classmate.

Attempts are underway to disseminate misinformation and false information in the country during the Lok Sabha election. Various claims are being made through posts displaying misleading details. Opposition parties and their supporters make such content viral without researching or looking deeper into the matter. Now, one such video has gained traction on social media which alleges that trucks carrying thousands of cows that will be supplied to Arab countries are stationed at Gujarat’s Adani Port. Furthermore, the Modi administration is being accused of solely receiving money from beef sellers.

One person taunted, “Thousands of cows are standing in trucks at Adani’s port in Gujarat which will be taken to the Arab countries and slaughtered there. Where are you Modi supporters? Let me remind you, donkeys, that the Bharatiya Janata Party has received funds from those who sell cow meat. It is all a game of money.”

Another account uploaded the same video with similar remarks. The clip, which is getting widespread attention on social media is being utilized to criticize the Adani Group and the Modi government. However, none of the detractors attempted to confirm the information, choosing instead to follow the herd and start circulating the distorted information.

“What are these cows doing at Adani Port in Gujarat,” questioned another netizen adding to the mounting fallacy.

Many additional social media accounts have posted the video with bogus details, deceiving people.

However, the reality is completely different than the claim. When the viral video reached OpIndia, we investigated it with the help of social media platforms to find out the truth. We discovered a video (reel) on Facebook after more research. The term Adani Port is visible in Arabic underneath the video with “Beef Market” written on it in the same language.

On further investigation of the footage, we learned that the port witnessed in it is neither of Gujarat nor India, and it is actually located in Iraq. It is named Umm Qasr after the city in which it is situated and is one of the largest ports in the country. According to reports, eighty per cent of commodities are brought to Iraq from here. Additionally, a large number of cows and buffaloes were discovered to be exported from this place to Brazil.

It is the second largest port of the nation after Basra Port which likewise bears the same name as the city it is located in. We also came across many images of Umm Qasr Port when we searched it. The viral video is identical to the photo of the Umm Qasr port which can be easily accessible online.

Moreover, we also gathered information about Adani Group’s ports in Gujarat and pictures of Hazira and Mundra Ports were also examined. It is clearly evident from the photographs of the two ports that they are very different from the widely shared video. Therefore, the footage spread in the name of Adani Port has nothing to do with it or India and is from Iraq. Hence, the social media claim turned out to be a lie.

Notably, the charge that the Bharatiya Janata Party collected funds from companies that export beef is also untrue. Indian law does not allow the export of beef or cow meat, while the export of buffalo beef is allowed. Many media reports wrongly refer to buffalo meat as beef, which is incorrect. Buffalo meat is known by various names, like buffalo beef, red beef, buff, carabeef etc, but using the term beef is wrong.

On Sunday, 28th April, Home Minister Amit Shah called out Rahul Gandhi and Congress party for deceiving people by telling baseless lies. Reacting to Congress’s statement where they claimed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would abolish reservation if it came back to power, Home Minister Shah said that the BJP has been in power with the full majority for ten years, if the party had any plan to abolish reservation, it would have done it long back. Notably, Congress used a fake, edited video of HM Shah to make the false claims.

Amit Shah said, “Rahul Gandhi is deceiving people by telling baseless lies. The Bharatiya Janata Party has been in power in this country for 10 years, forming a government with full majority both times. If the BJP intended to abolish reservations, it would have done so already. Narendra Modi has assured all Dalits, backward classes, and tribal sisters and brothers across the nation that as long as the BJP is in power, no one will touch reservations.”

Assuring everyone that BJP would not let anything happen to the reservations, Home Minister Shah said, “Today, I want to tell the people of the country that the Congress party has always attacked the reservations for SC/ST/OBC. When their government came to Karnataka, they cut 4% for minority reservations. Whose reservation got cut? OBCs.”

“Even today, SC/ST/OBC reservations are not allowed at Jamia Millia and Aligarh Universities. The sole reason for this is Congress’s policy towards SC/ST/OBC. They have always opposed the backward society, ignored Baba Saheb Ambedkar, and never worked to deliver justice to the tribals. Narendra Modi is the one who worked to deliver justice to the tribals by appointing Droupadi Murmu as the President. I want to remind the people of the country once again of Modi’s guarantee that as long as the BJP is in politics, there will be no harm to SC/ST/OBC reservations. This is Modi’s guarantee,” said Amit Shah.

Congress shared a fake video of HM Shah

On 27th April, the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Telangana Congress party stirred the hornet’s nest after it shared an edited video and falsely claimed that BJP leader Amit Shah has promised to end reservations for the SC, ST and the OBCs.

In a tweet, Congress handle said, “Brothers and sisters who are in the BJP, belong to the SC, ST, OBC minority and are doing politics in the name of religion, please watch this video and take a decision whether to vote for the BJP.

“Let’s teach Amit Shah, Narendra Modi’s BJP party a proper lesson for saying that they will remove the reservations of SC, ST, OBC and minorities if they come back to power with pride and arrogance while enjoying the fruits of reservation given by the Constitution of India,” Telanagana Congress continued to peddle lies.

“Remove BJP from power…Save the country. Let us protect the rights given to us by the Constitution. The Constitution of India should flourish,” it concluded.

The tweet by the Telangana Congress was accompanied by a video of Amit Shah, which has been maliciously edited to give the impression that the Union Home Minister wants to end caste-based reservations.

In reality, the Union Home Minister had vowed to end unconstitutional reservation for the Muslim community and give it to the SC, ST and OBCs.
