Manish Sisodia writes a tear-jerker from jail and Kejriwal shares it to win brownie points after former makes startling confession in Liquor Scam case

There appears to be no limit to the Aam Aadmi Party’s antics. Despite being called out the first time, former Delhi deputy chief minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia has drafted another open letter from Tihar jail. In the letter, he has again taken a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s academic credentials.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter on Friday to share the open letter consisting of a poem penned by Sisodia. The poem, while emphasising the significance of educating poor children took a jibe at PM Modi in regard to his academic qualifications.

In March this year, even after the Gujarat High Court slammed the Aam Aadmi Party  (AAP) over the degree certificates of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sisodia had written a letter claiming that PM Modi does not understand the importance of education. This time, the imprisoned AAP leader has written a poem about the ‘shaking foundations’ of a ‘chauthi pass raja’s mahal’ (fourth pass king’s palace).

Letter written by arrested AAP leader Manish Sisodia

The poem was written in Hindi. The first verse of the poem can be roughly translated as, “If every poor person gets a book, who will trigger a storm of hatred? If everyone gets work, then who will brandish swords in the streets? If the child of every poor family gets education, the foundations of the 4th class King’s palace will shake,” Sisodia wrote.

Sisodia went on to add that providing quality education to children from low-income families will prevent people from falling into the trap of a ‘WhatsApp University’ and society from becoming entangled in a web of communal hatred.

If every child in society was educated, they would challenge their government’s “cunningness” and “bad policies” and pick up a pen to write their own “Mann ki Baat,” Sisodia added.

The AAP chief must be reminded here that while he is busy trying to score brownie points by sharing a ‘tear-jerking’ poem written by his close aide Manish Sisodia, who his party claims is being incarnated as part of BJP vendetta politics, Sisodia has himself made some startling admissions that affirm his role in the Delhi excise policy scam case.

Manish Sisodia allegedly confesses to destroying two mobile phones

Yesterday (May 18) reports emerged that the AAP leader has confessed to destroying two mobile phones which were sought by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam case. “This willful disposal of handsets containing incriminating evidence related to the policy is another incriminating circumstance against Sisodia,” the chargesheet against the AAP leader read.

On July 22, 2022, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) instructed the CBI to initiate an investigation into the excise scam. According to reports, Manish Sisodia began using a new mobile phone after this directive.

During the course of the probe, the CBI discovered that Manish Sisodia had utilized three different mobile phones between January 1, 2020, and August 19, 2022. Subsequently, on August 19, 2022, the investigating agency conducted a search operation and seized one phone from Sisodia’s possession. These developments are significant in unravelling the details of the case and shedding light on Sisodia’s Manish involvement in the Delhi liquor scam.

According to sources, Sisodia was served a notice under Section 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) concerning the two mobile phones. In response to the notice, he reportedly acknowledged the same fact. This information highlights Manish Sisodia’s acknowledgement of the notice and further strengthens the case against him.

Manish Sisodia, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is presently in custody due to multiple allegations against him related to the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam. Despite his numerous attempts, the court has dismissed several of his bail pleas.

The three have been booked under sections 307, 34 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident is said to have happened on May 16, but it came to the fore on May 18 after the Legal Rights Observatory (LRO) tweeted about it. LRO said in the tweet that Mahesh was brutally beaten during the Urs celebration in the city.

Mahesh had been issued death threats in the past for making Hindu reels on social media

According to the sources, Mahesh is associated with a local Hindu organization and is active in exposing anti-Islamic activities ongoing in the city. He also has exposed several Love Jihaad cases in the city. Moreover, he also is active on social media and is known for making pro-Hindu reels.

Sources told OpIndia that Mahesh was on long target of the accused men who had in the past issued death threats to Mahesh for making Hindu reels and disseminating them on social media. On May 16, the accused men were in large numbers as they were celebrating Urs and it is then that they found Mahesh alone. “They trapped him and tried to kill him. He would have lost his life had he not called his friend for help that day,” sources said.

As per the FIR copy obtained by OpIndia, the victim was taken to an open ground close to the railway lines and was brutally beaten by sticks and a sharp weapon. The victim has been admitted and is being treated at a general ward at Sakhar Kamgar Hospital, Shrirampur. The victim mentioned in the complaint that he was unnecessarily beaten by the accused and that he was hit in his head with the intention to kill.

FIR copy obtained by OpIndia

“It was my friend’s birthday that day. I was on my way home and was riding on a bike after the celebrtions at around 10 pm. On reaching the Sayyed Baba area, I saw some Muslim people were dancing and celebrting the Urs. It is then when Samir Pathan saw me and stopped me. He asked me to park my bike on the roadside and said that he wanted to talk to me. Then he took me away from the noise, near the railway lines where his associates Shoaib Qureshi and Javed Shah also arrived. The three then began to thrash me,” Mahesh said in the FIR.

He also mentioned that he was not told or asked anything and was beaten brutally without any reason. “They hit me on my head with intention to kill me. I got scared and called one of my friends for help. I was then rescued and taken to the hospital,” he said.

Complaint registered by Mahesh

Mahesh in hospital says he is still clueless about his fault

Mahesh talked to OpIndia and confirmed that he knows all the accused superficially so he stopped when Pathan interrupted him on his way to home. “They didn’t tell me any reason and just kept on beating me that night. I still don’t know what my fault is,” Mahesh said who is still admitted at the hospital. On asking about his health, he said that he has attained severe injury and has been advised by the doctors to stay at the hospital for 3 more days.

Meanwhile his friend who rescued him from the accused on the might of May 16 stated to OpIndia that Mahesh is not at fault. “We know them just by their names, superficially. We are still clueless why was Mahesh targeted,” he said. Further on asking about the police action, he said that the police has not yet arrested any of the accused mentioned in the FIR.

Accused booked under IPC sections, but arrest remains awaited

While Mahesh failed to mention the reason in the FIR for being targeted, it has been confirmed to OpIndia by sources that he was beaten by the accused persons for merely being associated to Hindu organization. He had also been issued death threats by the accused in the past.

Team OpIndia contacted Shrirampur Police Station and also API Vitthal Patil who is investigating the case under the instructions of PI Harshvardhan Gavli, but none of them provided the required information terming it as a ‘sensitive case’. While the accused persons have been booked under section 307, 34 and 341 of the IPC, their arrest yet remains awaited. Further probe is underway.

This report will be updated once we hear from investigating officer API Vitthal Patil of Shrirampur Police Station.

Is Elon Musk’s Tesla finally coming to India, this time, on India’s terms? Talks restarted with a new factory proposal: What we know so far

Tesla has indicated a desire to build an electric vehicle facility in India for both local and international sales and the plan was delivered to representatives of the Indian government on Wednesday. This development follows India’s unwillingness to reduce the high import duty on automobiles, which may be as high as 100%, last year. The business first tried to join the market through imports for testing reasons, which caused a stalemate in discussions. However, India had encouraged Tesla to build cars domestically.

Tesla stayed silent on lowering import tariffs throughout the recent discussions. Instead, it suggested building a new plant, albeit specifics like the location and expenditure have not yet been made public.

The action is in line with the “Make in India” strategy of the Indian government, which seeks to invite businesses by fostering domestic manufacturing and diversifying supply chains away from China.

Senior Tesla executives are present in India, negotiating with government officials to further investigate the potential for local manufacture. Meetings with representatives from the Prime Minister’s office and several ministries have been held as part of these discussions.

Notably, the business has recently expressed interest in India again, almost a year after the firm abandoned ambitions to sell vehicles there because it was unable to reduce import duties, which CEO Elon Musk has claimed as being among the highest in the world. The hunt for a showroom location was started, and a local team was hired, but last year’s efforts were shelved.

In advance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US later this month, Tesla and Indian officials met. The conclusion of these talks might have a big impact on Tesla’s entry into the Indian market as well as the nation’s electric car sector as a whole.

Meanwhile, the government intends to introduce a modified production-linked incentive scheme for advanced chemical cell batteries and electric cars to entice new investments from businesses that weren’t previously involved.

According to official sources, the PLI 2.0 will not be modified or released just to include Tesla in the system, as it has previously been done for telecom equipment and Information Technology hardware.

The new IT hardware PLI initiative was authorised by the Cabinet on Wednesday in an effort to provide foreign corporations with another opportunity to invest in the country. Once everything is settled between the government and Tesla, a similar update will reportedly be made to the vehicle and battery PLI as well.

The current budget for advanced chemical cell batteries is Rs 18,100 crore, whereas Rs 25,938 crore is allocated for autos and their parts. In accordance with sources, the outlay may be raised, incentives may also be altered, and participating enterprises will have the choice to switch to the new PLI plan for the two.

The current budget for advanced chemical cell batteries is Rs 18,100 crore, whereas Rs 25,938 crore is allocated for autos and their parts. In accordance with the sources, the two updated PLI arrangements for the corporations may include higher outlays, altered incentives, and a migration option for participating enterprises.

“It will be fair to all the parties and PLI schemes offer such flexibility in restructuring the package,” an official informed.

Tesla is now thinking about manufacturing in India and is no longer lobbying for a reduction in the import charge on fully constructed vehicles, which is now at 100% for vehicles costing $40,000 and more. 60% of the tax is applied to vehicles that cost less. Tesla had asked for the duty to be reduced to 40%.

‘300 more Madarsas will be closed down’: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma reiterates vow to continue the crackdown on Madarsas in the state

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Thursday reiterated his government’s decision to shut down 300 more madarsas in the state. This came months after the Assam CM had stated that over 600 madarsas have been shut down in the state because his government believes in establishing universities, schools and colleges rather than funding religious institutions.

“There was a meeting between the BJP and the people who run these madarsas. There is a consensus that 300 more madrasas will be closed down. This is a result of the discussion between the Assam police and the Qaumi organisations,” said the Assam chief minister.

Earlier in March, CM Himanta announced the closure of 600 madarsas in the state. He also asserted that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh pose a threat to the civilization and culture of the northeastern state. “I have closed 600 madrasas and I intend to close all madrasas because we do not want madrasas. We want schools, colleges and universities,” Himanta Biswa said while addressing the BJP’s Vijay Sankalp Yatra in Karnataka’s Belagavi ahead of the Assembly elections in March.

“People from Bangladesh come to Assam and create a threat to our civilization and culture. I have closed 600 madarssas and I intend to close all madarssas because we do not want madarssas. We want schools, colleges and universities. The new India does not need madarsas.”

Besides vowing to continue the crackdown on madarsas in the state, the Himanta Biswa Sarma government has also promised to ban the practice of polygamy by Muslim men in the state.

Notably, last week, the Assam government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, constituted a four-member committee to examine the legal authority of the state legislature to implement a law prohibiting polygamy.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM announced the formation of the four-member committee and revealed the names of the committee members adding that the committee has been given a deadline of 60 days to present its report.

A team of journalists was working for me: DK Shivakumar inadvertently spilt beans on the Congress-media nexus

On Tuesday (May 16), Congress leader DK Shivakumar courted controversy after he claimed that a team of journalists was working for him to ensure the victory of the grand old party in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections.

He made the contentious remarks during an interview with journalist Nabila Jamil of India Today. At about 4 minutes and 16 seconds into the programme, DK Shivakumar was heard claiming that he single-handedly ensured the landslide victory of the Congress party in the Karnataka elections.

“There were three teams working for me, apart from my AICC team…A team of journalists, my own political supporters and for the other one, I have a system in place for the past 10 years,” the Congress leader inadvertently spilt the beans.

In his spontaneous flow of speech, DK Shivakumar revealed that he had several journalists on his payroll, who helped changed the public perception in favour of the Congress. And he did not seem to have been bothered by his own faux pas.

Despite ‘winning, he was not backed by his party for the post of Karnataka Chief Minister and had to settle for the position of Deputy CM. As per a report by The Economic Times, his Chief Ministerial bid was ignored by Congress for being perceived as a ‘devout Hindu’ in the public eye.

“Siddaramaiah, who comes from the left background, is seen as a strong ideological opponent of the RSS and the BJP. While Shivakumar has no affinity with any right-wing group, he is seen as a devout Hindu who often visits religious places and makes no effort to hide his religious inclination,” it emphasised.

The Economic Times claimed that such a decision by the Congress party was made in light of the religiously polarised environment of Karnataka. The newspaper emphasised that Congress threw its weight behind Siddaramiah in the hopes of keeping its ideological ‘non-Hindu’ inclinations intact and consolidating the Muslim vote bank.

Operation Dhvast: NIA raids at 324 locations in 8 states in terrorists-gangsters-drug smuggler nexus case, huge cache of arms and ammunition seized

On Wednesday, May 17 the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided 324 locations in six states and two Union Territories, in collaboration with Punjab and Haryana police as a part of its multi-state crackdown on terrorist-gangster-drug-peddler nexus codenamed “Operation Dhvast”. During the raids, the authorities seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in addition to multiple incriminating materials.

During the raids conducted on May 17 in eight districts—Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, three accused persons were also arrested.

The NIA raided 129 locations, the Punjab Police searched 143 locations in 17 districts, and the Haryana Police raided 52 locations in ten districts commencing at 5.30 a.m.

These operations targeted weapon suppliers, financiers, logistic providers, and hawala operators affiliated with hardcore gangs collaborating with narcotics smugglers and terrorists based in other countries including Pakistan and Canada, according to the NIA press release.

The NIA further stated that one pistol, assorted ammunition (both live and used cartridges), 60 mobile phones, five DVRs, 20 SIM cards, one hard disk, one pen drive, one dongle, one WiFi router, a digital watch, two memory cards, 75 documents, and Rs.39,60,000 in cash were recovered by the raiding parties.

NIA arrests three persons linked with notorious gangsters

According to an official release from the NIA, Parveen Wadhwa was brought into custody from Bhiwani in Haryana, Irfan from New Seelampur in Delhi, and Jassa Singh from Moga in Punjab.

“In jail, Parveen Wadhwa was discovered liaising with certain notorious gangsters, including Lawrence Bishnoi.” Weapons were recovered from Irfan’s house in New Seelampur (Delhi), who is also linked to dreaded gangsters. Jassa Singh was working at the request of Arsh Dhalla, a ‘listed terrorist’ based in Canada,” the NIA said.

According to NIA investigations, Parveen alias Prince communicated frequently with Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members Deepak alias Tinu and Sampat Nehra, as well as other associates. He was acting as their special messenger from inside the prisons.

NIA’s crackdown on Arsh Dalla’s terror network

The NIA said that the day-long searches under Operation Dhvast were aimed at disrupting the terror network of Arsh Dalla, a designated terrorist, as well as dreaded ganglords such as Lawrence Bishnoi, Chhenu Pehalwan, Deepak Teetar, Bhupi Rana, Vikash Lagarpuriya, Ashish Choudhary, Gurpreet Sekhon, Dilpreet Baba, Harsimrat Simma, Anuradha, and others.

The cases are linked to conspiracies involving targeted killings, terror funding of pro-Khalistan organizations, and extortion. Among these cases is last year’s sensational murder of Maharashtra builder Sanjay Biyani and international Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambia in Punjab, the NIA stated.

‘Prisons were becoming havens of the deadly nexus and hubs of gang wars’: NIA

The NIA also discovered that numerous offenders who were leading gangsters in India had fled to countries such as Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia, and Australia, from where they were planning significant crimes in collaboration with criminals imprisoned across India.

“The spotlight on these gangs has become sharper after reports of several prisons becoming havens of the deadly nexus and hubs of gang wars, which recently resulted in violence and murder inside the Goindwal Jail of Punjab and Tihar Jail of Delhi,” the NIA said.

These organizations were carrying out targeted executions and raising funding for their nefarious activities through drug and weapon smuggling, hawala, and extortion.

The NIA said that the probe agency is conducting further investigation as a part of its efforts to destroy the growing nexus among terrorists, gangsters, and drug smugglers, and also to dismantle their funding and infrastructure.

Assam: 13-year-old abducted, assaulted and gang raped in a moving van, Rubel Rehman, Imran, Mamunur, Anowar arrested

A 13-year-old girl was gang-raped by four youths inside a moving car in the Kokrajhar district of Assam. The four accused have been identified as Rubel Rehman, Imran Hussain, Mamunur Rehman and Anowar Hussain all from Dhubri district. The Police have booked and arrested the accused under sections 363, 376(d), 328 of the Indian Penal Code and also under section 6 of the POCSO Act.

The incident is said to have happened on May 16, when the four accused forcibly took the young girl inside a van while it was moving along National Highway 31C. They assaulted her as she protested and raped her one by one in the moving vehicle.

As per the local reports, the victim was abducted from the Atiabari Tinali road along the National Highway 31C in a Maruti van whose vehicle number has been traced as ‘AS-17 M 8735’. The victim is said to have known one of the accused named Rubel Rehman.

The Police immediately began the investigation after being informed about the incident and rescued the minor at Naga checking at Dotma while the car was proceeding towards Bilasipara, Dhubri. Reports mention that the girl was in a half-conscious state when rescued by the police search party.

The girl, during the investigation, was also produced before the Child Welfare Committee Kokrajhar and her statement was recorded. The CWC Kokrajhar has taken up the case and has demanded urgent action against the culprits.

The accused boys meanwhile have been sent to the 3 days of police remand. Earlier a similar incident was reported from Assam’s Hajo town. On April 7, nine individuals were arrested for gang-raping a woman in a moving car. She was lured with false promises of employment but was brutally raped by the accused persons.

The police had then arrested the main accused in the case identified as Altaf who is a cab driver from Baksa. Eight of his accomplices were also taken into custody.

The the current case, the Assam Police has booked and arrested all the four accused under sections 363, 376(d), 328 of the Indian Penal Code and also under section 6 of POCSO Act. Further probe is underway.

Was DK Shivakumar not made the CM of Karnataka by Congress because he was ‘too Hindu’ compared to ‘Leftist’ Siddaramaiah? What a media report says

Hours after the Congress announced that Siddaramaiah will become the Chief Minister of Karnataka, a report by The Economic Times claimed that the CM bid of DK Shivakumar was not supported by the party’s high command for his dedication towards the Hindu faith.

In an article titled ‘Five reasons why Congress high command picked Siddaramaiah as Karnataka CM,’ the newspaper noted that Siddaramaiah hailed from a strong left background while Shivakumar was perceived as a ‘devout Hindu.’

“This may not have posed much problem if the political climate were not as religiously polarised as it is in Karnataka today. Many believe the Muslim vote shifted to the Congress from the JD(S) in a sign of the community strongly backing the Congress in the state. With the Lok Sabha elections next year, the polarisation is likely to get more pronounced,” it added.

The newspaper emphasised that Congress threw its weight behind Siddaramiah in the hopes of keeping its ideological ‘non-Hindu’ inclinations intact and consolidating the Muslim vote bank.

“In such circumstances, the party high command had to back the candidate whose ideological leanings strongly aligned with the party agenda of resisting the BJP-RSS and cornering the Muslim vote,” it pointed out.

Congress has a deal with PFI and SDPI

It must be mentioned that the Congress party entered into a covert agreement with the PFI and its political wing SDPI for specific constituencies, resulting in the SDPI not fielding candidates against Congress in the 2018 assembly elections.

In comparison to Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the PFI’s influence was growing rapidly in Karnataka, and reports claimed that they had compiled a hitlist targeting prominent figures associated with Hinduism, including RSS leaders.

In a significant development, an entire community hall in Puttur was allegedly transformed into an arms depot, which was subsequently seized by the NIA during their raids.

While the election campaign witnessed dangerous levels of polarisation, with the opposition parties raking up the issue of hijab as well as the Congress party promising to ban the Hindu activist group, Bajrang Dal, it is worth analysing how polarisation helped Congress to consolidate Muslim voters and divide Hindu votes to emerge as victorious in the assembly polls.

Sunni Ulma board chief demands Muslim deputy CM post, Home Ministry

Meanwhile, Muslim leaders from the Sunni Ulma Board demanded that a Muslim should get the post of deputy chief minister in Karnataka from the winning candidates of the community.

They also sought portfolios like Home, Revenue, Health and other departments for five Muslim MLAs. Karnataka State Waqf Board chief Shafi Sadi claimed 72 constituencies went into Congress’s hands only because of the Muslims.

Bollywood actor who chose ‘Quran over Constitution’, arrested previously

Ajaz Khan has been arrested in the past as well. In 2016, he was arrested for sending obscene photos and lewd texts to a hairstylist. He was later released on bail.

OpIndia has reported in the past how Ajaz Khan had also used Facebook to spread ideas that could be labeled as hate speech and an effort to vitiate communal harmony.
