‘Journalist’ Ali Sohrab spreads fake news of a South African tourist robbed of her belongings after an accident in Meerut to defame India

‘Journalist’ Ali Sohrab, who has gained notoriety for posting controversial and bigoted content on his Twitter profile, recently shared fake news about the unfortunate accident of a South African tourist in Meerut to defame India.

Sohrab took to Twitter to take potshots at Indians for robbing the belongings of the South African tourist after she met with an accident instead of helping her and taking her to the hospital for treatment.

“Carina of South Africa was going to visit Rishikesh in India, met with an accident on the way, after which the injured Carina lay on the roadside for about an hour. During this, instead of helping her, the Indians stole Carina’s shoes, ear bird and other belongings,” Sohrab tweeted in Hindi while taking a dig at the Sanskrit verse ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’, which is akin to ‘A guest is a God’ and embodies the traditional Indian Hindu-Buddhist philosophy of revering guests with the same respect as a god.

According to the police, Carina, a resident of Cape Town, South Africa, had reached Delhi on Saturday evening. From here she was going to Rishikesh by cab to visit her friend. A tractor driver applied brakes to save a bike rider near the Shobhapur flyover in Kankarkheda. Due to this, the girl’s cab collided with the tractor.

Meerut Police debunks fake claims of South African tourist being deprived of her belongings after her accident

Contrary to allegations, the Meerut Police have refuted claims of a South African tourist being robbed following her accident. In an official statement, the police have categorically denied reports suggesting that the tourist was deprived of her belongings after the incident. The police further emphasized that during their conversation with the victim, she confirmed having all her possessions intact except for her AirPods, the wireless earphones she had lost.

Additionally, the police stated that the young woman’s iPhone suffered significant damage in the incident, making it challenging to track the whereabouts of the AirPods. The vehicle involved in the accident has also sustained extensive damage. Currently, a search operation is being conducted at the accident site, and witnesses present at the scene have not reported any theft or loss of belongings regarding the South African tourist.

Ali Sohrab was arrested in November 2019 for celebrating the death of Kamlesh Tiwari, who was killed by Islamists

That said, this is not the first time that Ali Sohrab has been found peddling fake news and divisive rhetoric. In November 2022, Sohrab was arrested for his hate-filled comments celebrating the death of Kamlesh Tiwari, who was hacked to death by Islamists. Ali Sohrab’s attempts to incite and spew venom against Hindus had not stopped there. He even threatened journalist Rohit Sardana and his child by saying he will pray for Sardana and his kid that someday in the future, Sardana’s kid should experience the ‘hatred’ caused due to Hindu-Muslims tensions.

Sohrab had been continuously indulging in sharing fake and inciteful posts on his social media pages. In September, following the abrogation of Article 370 by the centre, Sohrab had tried to pass off an old image of two army men cleaning a pool of blood on a road as a recent one. He shared the misleading image implying that it was taken during the ongoing situation in Kashmir.

‘I will file a defamation case against them if they report’: Read why DK Shivakumar said he will file a defamation case against the media

As Congress deliberates on who should be the chief minister of Karnataka, party state president DK Shivakumar, one of the frontrunners for the post in the southern State on Tuesday said that he would file a defamation case against the media channels which are making false claims over his resignation.

“If any channel is reporting that I am resigning from the post, I will file a defamation case against them…Some of them are reporting that I will resign…My mother is my party, I built this party. My high command, my MLAs, my party are there,” Karnataka Congress President told the reporters. Other claimants are also emerging as supporters of G Parameshwara staged protest and said he was ready to take up the responsibility if the party high command asked him to run the government.

“If the high command wants, I am ready to take up the responsibility,” the former Deputy Chief Minister told reporters while demanding that a Dalit should become CM.

Shivakumar on Tuesday arrived at the office of his brother and Congress leader DK Suresh.

Despite Congress’ clear mandate in the Karnataka assembly polls, suspense over the chief minister continues as senior leaders DK Shivakumar, who is the Karnataka Congress’ president, and Siddaramaiah, former chief minister and leader of the opposition are in the race.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today met party president Mallikarjun Kharge who is set to make his decision after going through the Congress central observers’ report, which was submitted yesterday.

However, Shivakumar who had earlier cancelled his visit to the national capital on Monday evening citing health issues, arrived in Delhi today. The Congress won 135 seats in the recently held election to the 224-member Karnataka assembly.

Earlier in the day, Shivakumar, in an exclusive interview with ANI made it clear that he would not resort to “backstabbing or blackmail” regardless of the party’s decision.

“If the party wants they can give me the responsibility……. Ours is a united house, our number is 135. I don’t want to divide anyone here. Whether they like me or not, I am a responsible man. I will not backstab and I will not blackmail,” he said.

“The Party is my god…We have built this party, I am a part of it and I am not alone in this,” he said before his departure from Bengaluru.

“We have built this party (Congress), we have built this house. I am a part of it…A mother will give everything to her child,” he said.

Asked about his expectations as the state party president, Shivakumar said,” I don’t want to comment on what has happened earlier. How it happened. That is a closed chapter we formed the government we lost the government, we lost a coalition government. Who is responsible for the victory and loss there is no use of talking about it now. Let us not sell this story… let us sell the future.”

Maharashtra Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis orders FIR, SIT to probe Muslim mob trying to enter Nashik’s Trimbakeshwar temple and offering ‘chadar’ on Shivling

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday ordered an FIR in a recent incident of a sacrilege attempt by a Muslim mob at the revered Trimbakeshwar temple at Nashik, triggering a series of riots that engulfed the city.

Keeping in view the gravity of the situation, Fadnavis also ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the events and their aftermath.

Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, stated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) would not only investigate the recent incident but also look into a similar occurrence last year. It was reported that during the previous incident, a group of individuals had allegedly forcibly entered the Trimbakeshwar Temple through its main entrance.

Tensions gripped the city of Nashik earlier this month after a group of individuals reportedly congregated outside the Trimbakeshwar Temple and made an apparent attempt to forcefully gain entry into the premises.

An alleged video of the incident has been doing the rounds on social media.

The Nashik Rural superintendent of police (SP) Shahaji Umap attributed the incident to a ‘misunderstanding’.

“The incident seems to have happened due to a misunderstanding as the Muslims wanted to go inside the temple premises when their procession was underway… We called the group of Muslims who said they will not henceforth attempt to enter the premises if it is not allowed,” Umap said had said.

OpIndia spoke to one of the security officials deployed inside the Trimbakeshwar temple, who confirmed the attack and said that a few members of a Muslim congregation created a ruckus on May 13 as they barged into the temple precincts, prompting action from the law enforcement officials stationed at the temple.

The hallowed Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik which has one of the 12 jyotirlingas allows Hindus to enter the ancient temple of Lord Shiva, as per a board put up outside the temple.

The Rajput warrior from Jammu, Lachman Dev, who became Banda Singh Bahadur, and laid the foundation of the first Sikh empire

0

Few individuals stand out as strongly in Indian history as the fascinating and mysterious Banda Singh Bahadur. He was a warrior, a saint, and a revolutionary who built the first Sikh empire by resisting the massive Mughal regime and planting the seeds of a legacy that would endure for all time, reported Khalsa Vox.

Lachman Dev was a Rajput from the Jammu region who was born around 1670, during the turbulent Mughal era. His journey to Banda Singh Bahadur, the harbinger of Sikh sovereignty, is the remarkable story of his political and spiritual awakening.

Lachman Dev abandoned his austere lifestyle, accepted Sikhism, and was baptised as Banda Singh Bahadur after having a chance encounter with Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, in Nanded.

Guru Gobind Singh acknowledged the potential in this newly converted Sikh and gave him the enormous responsibility of leading the Sikh community against the oppressive Mughal authority. Armed with a double-edged sword, five arrows, and the guru’s blessing, Banda Singh Bahadur set off for Punjab and started a chain of events that would alter the path of Indian history, according to Khalsa Vox.

Banda Singh Bahadur’s military prowess shined out in the Battle of Samana in 1709, where he led a rag-tag group of Sikhs against the well-equipped Mughal army.

They won while using guerilla tactics and relying solely on the strength of their conviction, taking control of the crucially important city of Samana. This battle dispelled the illusion of Mughal invincibility, which was more than simply a military success.

The next notable accomplishment was the conquest of Sirhind, the location of Guru Gobind Singh’s two younger sons’ cruel execution. For the Sikhs, the Battle of Sirhind was more than just a battle of guns; it represented a desire for justice.

The Mughals were defeated by the Sikhs under the tenacious leadership of Banda Singh Bahadur, and Sirhind came under Sikh rule in May 1710, as per a report published in Khalsa Vox.

Banda Singh Bahadur’s legacy continues to shine, and his story is always being told and retold because it embodies the tenacity of the human spirit and the never-ending pursuit of justice.

His life really embodied the Sikh principle of “Sarbat da Bhalla” – the well-being of all. It is a legacy that echoes down the ages, imploring us to defend the ideals of justice and equality, to combat oppression head-on, and to carry the flame of courage and conviction in our hearts.

We are left with a sense of profound admiration for Banda Singh Bahadur as we delve into the pages of history to learn about his life and times, but we are also left with a sense of purpose: to adopt his principles, to take inspiration from his indomitable spirit, and to work towards a world that echoes his vision of equality, justice, and freedom.

The life of Banda Singh Bahadur serves as a powerful reminder of the strength of the individual, the courage of conviction, and the enduring impact of a genuinely outstanding life in a time when oppression and power sometimes go hand in hand, Khalsa Vox reported.
