‘Bhagwa love trap’ conspiracy theory reaches Karnataka, Islamists attack Hindu man sharing snacks with Muslim classmate

On Thursday (May 25), a frenzied mob of Islamists attacked a Hindu man for sharing snacks with his Muslim classmate.

As per a report by Times Now, the incident took place at an eatery named Gopika Chaats in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka. The group of extremists spotted the duo dining together and confronted them at the food outlet.

Once the mob realised that the man accompanying the Hijab-clad Muslim woman was a Hindu, they began thrashing him publicly. The girl came to the victim’s rescue and tried to placate the mob but to no avail.

Despite telling them that she knew the Hindu boy well, the extremists reprimanded the Muslim girl for hanging out with him. According to Times Now, the girl has filed a complaint with the police, following which a case was registered in connection to the case.

The police have initiated a probe into the case and efforts are underway to nab the accused. Meanwhile, the girl was forced to issue an apology by her family.

‘Bhagwa love trap’ conspiracy theory and its aftermath

In recent times, a new menace of Islamist mobs attacking Hindu-Muslim couples has come to light. Multiple videos have surfaced on social media where these extremists are seen harassing, abusing, molesting and physically assaulting Hindu men and Muslim women under the garb of combating ‘Bhagwa Love Trap.’

It is based on a baseless theory about Hindu outfits, supposedly training Hindu youth to lure, and entrap Muslim women and turn them into non-Muslims. Opindia has reported that an Islamic cleric by the name of Sajjad Nomani has been making such outrageous claims since 2021.

The conspiracy theory soon took the form of a social media hashtag, which Islamists used to share videos of random hijab-wearing Muslim women and their male Hindu friends/ acquaintances and partners without their consent.

The posts are often accompanied by emotional messages and sought public help in identifying the couples. Soon after, social media was rife with videos of Islamist mobs ambushing random Hindu-Muslim couples.

This would then be followed by heated arguments, physical assault on the Hindu men, and even molestation of the Muslim women. The victims have been targeted on roads, restaurants, eateries, and even hotels.

Based on local reports and social media videos, OpIndia has compiled a total of 30 cases where Hindu men and Muslim women were attacked by extremists under the pretext of the ‘Bhagwa love trap.’

The attacks were carried out under the pretext that a sinister plot was underway to convert Muslim women to Hinduism by luring them into a love trap – a conspiracy theory espoused by Sajjad Nomani in multiple videos.

A video of a person spitting in the food packaging polythene at Salaam Chicken Restaurant in the Loni area in the Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh has been viral online sparking an outrage.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the Hindu rights group Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) at Loni police station, a case has been registered against the accused, whose name is ironically, ‘Masoom’. He works at the said chicken restaurant. According to reports, the Police are examining the viral video and an investigation is underway.

Former district minister of Hindu Yuva Vahini, Shubham Kumar said that the viral video of a person packing food in the polythene after spitting in it is of the Salaam Chicken Restaurant near Loni Giri Market. This restaurant is owned by Salaam and Ayub Qureshi. Kumar alleged that the act of the accused had hurt the sentiments of the people. The HYV activists have also demanded that the restaurant in question be closed.

Meanwhile, Loni Tiraha police station in-charge Rampal has said that a case has been registered against accused Masoom and an investigation is being conducted into the matter.

Notably, in January this year, a similar incident was reported wherein a man named Taseeruddin was arrested for preparing spit-filled rotis at a restaurant in the Sahibabad area in the Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The matter came to light after a video of Taseeruddin spitting on the dough while preparing Rotis went viral on social media. The roadside eatery was identified as one ‘Madina Hotal.’

Days after Special Secretary (Vigilance) YVVJ Rajshekhar, who was tasked with probing the alleged corruption in Delhi CM Kejriwal’s residence renovation and was divested of his duties earlier this month wrote a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi L-G office, and Delhi Anti Corruption Branch alleging a break-in at his office and tampering with the files, a CCTV footage has been accessed by TimesNow of the break-in.

In the CCTV footage, three suspects were seen coming out of Vigilance Secretary Rajshekhar’s cabin (room no. 403) with some files at around 2:07 am on the intervening night of 15th May and 16th May. The suspects took the files to the adjacent room (room no. 404) having photocopiers and paper shredders. Room number 404 also had a board that read ‘Entry prohibited, Confidential room’. It is notable that Rajshekhar was soon after asked to hand over the sensitive files to the Delhi government. 

YVVJ Rajshekhar’s letter

In his letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi L-G office, and Delhi Anti Corruption Branch after being shunted out, YVVJ Rajshekhar wrote that in the wee hours of the night, his office was broken into, and sensitive files related to the excise policy probe, renovation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence and those referred to central investigation agencies was photocopied. Room no. 403, Special Secretary (Vigilance) at Delhi Sectt, was broken into on the intervening night of 15th and 16th May at 3:00 AM. The letter also expressed apprehensions that his office might have been bugged.

“However, it is understood from a preliminary enquiry that Sh. Manish (MTS) has opened the room of the undersigned and allegedly photocopied all the records i.e. from the 15th May 2023 night to the 16th May 2023 til 3:00 AM. The undersigned is not sure whether any record/file was taken away or otherwise tampered with it or photocopied. It is a serious lapse in the present scenario”, the letter stated.

Delhi L-G reinstates YVVJ Rajshekhar to his position

On Monday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena reinstated Rajshekhar on the basis of the Central government’s ordinance revising the Supreme Court order giving the power to post, transfer and appoint officers to the Delhi Government. It is notable that the Centre has brought an ordinance notifying rules for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) which restored some of the power back to the central government as well.

However, Services Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj in a memorandum on Tuesday called the Vigilance Secretary’s reinstatement as “unauthorized and illegal” as he asserted that he is the competent authority for work allocation. 

Even though the AAP government continues to label Rajshekhar as an “illegal occupant” of the position, Rajshekhar met with vigilance officers on Wednesday and asked them to compile an inventory of records to verify they had not been tampered with while he was absent.

It is notable that YVVJ Rajasekhar is also probing several other cases, including excise department chargesheets and their sanctions under various provisions of the POC (Prevention of Corruption) Act, FBU case pertaining to the setting up of a separate intelligence unit, allegations of overspending on political advertisements, and charges of favourable treatment to AAP workers in hiring venues for Mohalla Clinics. He was also probing the liquor scam and Arvind Kejriwal spending taxpayers’ money on building his palatial mansion.

British man, abandoned by UK, shot in war-torn Sudan, his disabled wife starves to death

A British man, stranded in Sudan, was shot while his wife died of starvation in the war-torn city of Khartoum due to the abject negligence of the UK authorities, reported BBC.

The victim, identified as 85-year-old Abdalla Sholgami, was reportedly not evacuated despite living opposite to the British embassy building. He and his disabled wife Alaweya Rishwan were left to fend for themselves.

It must be mentioned that Britain sent its Army and Royal Air Force to evacuate diplomats staying at the country’s embassy in Khartoum. Despite multiple requests, the family of Abdalla Sholgami was not rescued.

He was instead told to go to an airfield, which is located 40 km outside the city, to hop on an evacuation flight. It implied that Abdalla Sholigami and his wife had to cross the warzone.

As such, they stayed put in their home until supplies ran dry. The 80-year-old man was forced to step out of his home, following which he was shot thrice by snipers. He sustained injuries on his chest, hand and lower back.

Abdalla Sholigami was rushed to another part of the war-torn city by a family member but his disabled wife was left home alone. With no food and water at her disposal, she died of starvation.

Despite their attempts of the family to contact the UK’s Foreign Office, the family did not receive any help. The dead body of Alaweya Rishwan was discovered by an official from the Turkish embassy. She is yet to be buried.

Abdalla Sholigami managed to survive the gunshot wounds and escaped to Egypt. He was reportedly treated by his doctor-son without any anaesthetic.

Azhaar, the granddaughter of Abdalla Sholgami, said, “I was informed they had 100 troops who came and evacuated their staff. They could not cross the road? I’m still very disappointed in them.”

“What happened to my grandparents was a crime against humanity, not only by the RSF, not only by the (Sudanese army) but by the British embassy, because they were the only ones that could have prevented this from happening to my grandparents,” she emphasised.

While speaking about the matter, the UK Foreign Office said, “The ongoing military conflict means Sudan remains dangerous… the UK is taking a leading role in the diplomatic efforts to secure peace in Sudan…Our ability to provide consular assistance is severely limited and we cannot provide in-person support within Sudan.”

The Sudan Conflict and Operation Kaveri

There is an ongoing conflict between Sudan’s military and its main paramilitary force. They are fighting to take control of the country. The war threatens the stability of Sudan and the wider region. 

As such, the government of India launched Operation Kaveri to evacuate Indians from war-hit Sudan. The Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan went to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to manage the evacuation.

The Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar regularly updated about the evacuation process on social media. Apart from Indian Nationals, foreign nationals were also evacuated by India.

The Indians were evacuated from Port Sudan to Jeddah after the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) agreed to extend their ceasefire amid ongoing violence in the capital Khartoum and the western Darfur region.

Indians are being taken from Port Sudan to Jeddah on Navy ships and C-130J planes, from where they are being flown to India on C17 jet planes. On April 30, Dr S Jaishankar informed that 229 Indians reached Bengaluru.

On April 29, 365 passengers reached India in one batch, and 231 reached home in another batch. In a tweet, Muraleedharan mentioned that around 2,100 Indians were scheduled for evacuation from battle-torn Sudan.

The head priest of Madurai Adheenam, Sri Harihara Desika Swamigal who will be presenting the ‘Sengol’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of the new parliament building, has said Narendra Modi should return as the PM again in 2024. 

The sceptre ‘Sengol’ will be presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28 by the 293rd head priest of Madurai Adheenam. Sri Harihara Desika Swamigal said that PM Modi has got global appreciation and everyone in the country is proud of him. 

“PM Modi is a leader who got global appreciation. He is doing good things for people. Again in 2024 he has to become PM and should guide people. We are all so proud as world leaders are appreciating our PM Modi,” he said while talking to ANI. 

“I will be meeting PM Modi and presenting the ‘Sengol’ to him on the inauguration of the new Parliament building,” he added. 

The historic sceptre ‘Sengol’ was received by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on August 14, 1947, to represent the symbol of the transfer of power from the Britishers to India. The same spectre will be handed over to PM Modi by the head priest of Madurai Adheenam on May 28. 

Vummidi Sudhakar, chairman of Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers which made historic sceptre ‘Sengol’, said, “We’re the makers of the ‘Sengol’. It took us a month’s time to make it. It is made of silver & gold plated. I was 14 years at that time…we’re grateful to PM Modi”. 

History will repeat itself on Sunday when the new Parliament House will be dedicated to the nation. On this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive the sacred symbol of fair and equitable governance, Sengol and install it in the new Parliament House. 

This is the same Sengol that was accepted by the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru at his residence on the night of August 14, in the presence of several leaders. 

Recalling the entire event that took place on the occasion of India’s independence, Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Even after 75 years of independence, most of the people in India are not aware of this event in which India’s transfer of power took place through handing over of Sengol to Pt Jawaharlal Nehru. It was a special occasion on the night of August 14, 1947, celebrating India’s independence.” 

He added, “On this night Jawaharlal Nehru received the ‘Sengol’ from the Adheenams (Priests) of the ThiruvaduthuraiAdheenam (Mutt) in Tamil Nadu, who had specially arrived for the occasion. It was precisely the moment in which power was transferred by the British into the hands of Indians. What we are celebrating as independence is actually marked by the very moment of handing over the ‘Sengol’.” 

The Prime Minister took a decision to adopt the Sengol as a national symbol of the Amrit Kaal. The new building of Parliament will witness the very same event, with Adheenam (Priests) repeating the ceremony and vesting the PM with the Sengol. 

The same Sengol from 1947 will be installed by the Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha, prominently close to the Speaker’s podium. It will be displayed for the Nation to see and will be taken out on special occasions. 

Amit Shah said that the Parliament House is the most appropriate and sacred place to install the historic “Sengol”. 

The establishment of “Sengol”, makes the spirit of 15 August 1947 unforgettable. It is the symbol of the promise of boundless hope, boundless possibilities and a resolve to build a strong and prosperous nation. 

CR Kesavan, great-grandson of first Indian Governor-General C Rajagopalachari, has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the decision to establish the historical ‘Sengol’ in the new Parliament House, saying only a person with a profound understanding of India’s civilisational heritage and traditions can ensure that such an important event is given its due place in history. 

“Many of us didn’t know about this momentous occurrence in the transfer of power with the sacred sceptre which is ‘Sengol’. As an Indian, I would like to thank PM Modi. Only a person who has a very profound understanding of Indian civilisational heritage, Indian culture and has a deep respect for our values & traditions can ensure that such an important event is brought back from oblivion and given its due place in history,” Kesavan, a BJP leader, told ANI. 

According to historical accounts, Rajagopalachari approached the Dharmic Mutt in the Tanjore district of Tamil Nadu – the Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam. The leader of the Adheenam has commissioned the preparation of the ‘Sengol’. 

The word Sengol is derived from the Tamil word ‘Semmai’, meaning ‘Righteousness’. It is an Indic civilizational practice from the Chola kingdom, which was among the leading kingdoms in the Indian sub-continent for centuries. 

As ‘ sengol “, a five-feet long sceptre is all set to be installed near the Speaker’s seat in the new Parliament, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader TKS Elangovan on Thursday said that it is a symbol of “monarchy” and not democracy. 

“Sengol is a symbol of monarchy and not democracy. Sengol is not given by the political parties but by mutt. Mutt is also another symbol of monarchy. They had given a Sengol when India got independence at that time,” the DMK leader said while talking to ANI. 

Various rituals according to the Vedas will be performed ahead of the inauguration of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28, sources said on Thursday. 

At 11:30 am, all the invitees including members of Parliament, Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha, chairman and other distinguished guests are expected to be seated in the Lok Sabha chamber in the new building. 

The function is expected to begin at about 12 pm and is expected to be over by around 1:30 pm. 

“During the function, the secret Sengol will be installed in the Central Hall of Parliament in the new building, which is essentially the Lok Sabha chamber. A speech will be delivered by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make the closing speech,” sources said. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who will dedicate to the nation the new Parliament building on May 28, are also likely to deliver a speech after the inauguration ceremony, sources said. 

The sources on condition of anonymity tell ANI that apart from sitting members of Parliament of both houses invitations have been sent to Former Lok Sabha Speakers and former Rajya Sabha Chairman. All chief ministers have also been invited to attend the inauguration ceremony. 

The new Parliament building will enable 888 members to sit in the Lok Sabha. 

In the present building of the Parliament, there is a provision for the sitting of 543 Members in the Lok Sabha while 250 in the Rajya Sabha. Keeping in view the future requirements, arrangements have been made for a meeting of 888 members in the Lok Sabha while 384 members in the Rajya Sabha in the newly constructed building of the Parliament. The joint session of both Houses will be held in the Lok Sabha Chamber.

How new parliament building will be inaugurated: Puja, prayer meet, speeches and a slot for opposition leader speech, even though Congress may boycott

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla will lead the inauguration ceremony of the new parliament building on Sunday, May 28, which will be dedicated to the nation. 

Even though the exact details of the inauguration have not been made public, ANI has learnt through reliable sources that the inauguration will take place in two phases. The sources told ANI that the rituals ahead of the inaugural ceremony will begin in the morning and is likely to be held in a pandal (canopy) near the Gandhi statue in Parliament. PM Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Hariwansh and some senior ministers in the government are likely to be part of the ceremony. 

It is learnt that after the pujas, the dignitaries will examine the premises of the Lok Sabha’s chamber and the Rajya Sabha chamber in the new building. It is likely that the sacred ‘Sengol’ will be installed in the Lok Sabha chamber, right next to the Speaker’s chair, after performing some rituals, for which priests from Tamil Nadu, including the original jeweller who designed it, will be present. 

A prayer ceremony will also be organised on the premises of the new parliament building, say the sources. 

The morning phase will end at close to 9:30 am after which the second leg of the ceremony is expected to begin at noon with the singing of the national anthem in the Lok Sabha chamber in the presence of all the dignitaries including PM Modi. 

During this phase, a speech will be delivered by the Deputy Rajya Sabha Chairman, Hariwansh, who will further read a written congratulatory message on behalf of Rajya Sabha, Chairman, Jagdeep Dhankar. A written message by the President Droupadi Murmu will also be read out on the occasion. 

In fact, two short audio-video films will also be showcased for the dignitaries present to talk about the process of construction of the new parliament, building and its significance. 

Lok Sabha Speaker, who is the custodian of the Parliament will also be making a speech on the occasion. 

A slot has also been kept for the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha to make his speech on the occasion. However, it is known that LoP Mallikarjun Kharge is unlikely to attend the ceremony on Sunday after the Congress party along with a host of opposition parties announced the boycott of the inauguration ceremony. 

PM Modi will also be releasing a coin and stamp on the historic occasion and will also be making his speech on the occasion following which the Secretary-General Lok Sabha will deliver the Vote of Thanks to mark the closing of the ceremony, the sources told ANI. 

Amid the boycott call by the opposition, the Centre has received a confirmed list of 25 political parties, including some which are not a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), that will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building on May 28. 

Apart from BJP, several parties in the NDA including AIADMK, Apna Dal, the Republican Party of India, the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, NPP, and NPF have confirmed their attendance for the function on Sunday. 

Several neutral parties, including Biju Janata Dal, TDP, and YSRCP will be present for the inauguration. 

Amongst the opposition parties, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) and Janata Dal-Secular will also attend the function on Sunday. This comes after 19 opposition parties including Congress put out a joint statement announcing a boycott of the Parliament building inauguration. 

Invitations for the inauguration of the new parliament, building slated to take place on May 28 have been sent both physically as well as through e-invitation. The sources told ANI that apart from sitting members of Parliament of both houses, invitations have been sent to former Lok Sabha Speakers and former Rajya Sabha Chairman. All chief ministers have also been invited to attend the inauguration ceremony. Invitations have also been sent to Secretaries of all ministries of the government of India. 

The chief architect of the new parliament building, Bimal Patel and reputed industrialist Ratan Tata whose company TATA has constructed the new building have also been invited to the inauguration of the new building. 

An invitation has also been sent to certain prominent personalities, including film stars and sports persons. 

The new Parliament building symbolises the spirit of self-reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat) and maintains the government. 

The present building of the Parliament was completed in 1927, and is now going to be almost 100 years old. The lack of space was being experienced in this building as per the present requirements. In both Houses, there was also a lack of convenient arrangements for the sitting of the MPs which was affecting the efficiency of the work of the Members. 

Considering the above, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha passed resolutions urging the government to construct a new building for the Parliament. Consequently, on 10 December 2020, the foundation stone of the new building of Parliament was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The newly constructed Parliament building has been built in record time with quality construction. 

Now the newly constructed building of Parliament, which will work to further enrich India’s glorious democratic traditions and constitutional values, is also equipped with state-of-the-art facilities which will help the Members to perform their functions in a better way. 

The new Parliament building will enable 888 members to sit in the Lok Sabha.

Govt to issue ₹75 commemorative coin on the occasion of inauguration of the new parliament building

The union finance ministry today announced that a ₹75 Commemorative Coin will be issued on the occasion of the Inauguration of the New Parliament Building. The ministry issued a gazette notification under section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011.

The gazette notification issued by the ministry said, “The coin of Seventy Five Rupees denomination shall be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of Inauguration of New Parliament Building.”

The circular coin will be of 44-millimetre diameter and will be made from an alloy of Silver (50%), Copper (40%), Nickel (5%) and Zinc (5%). The standard weight of the coin will be 35 grams.

The obverse side of the coin will have the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend Satyamev Jayate in Devnagari inscribed below. On its left will have the word Bharat in Devnagari, and the right side will have the word India in English. The rupee symbol ₹ and the value 75 will be mentioned below the lion capital.

The reverse side of the coin will bear the image of the parliament complex. Words Sansad Sankul in Devnagari and Parliament Complex in English will be written on the lower part. The Year “2023” will be written below the image of Parliament Complex.

This is not the first time the govt has launched a Commemorative Coin valued ₹75. In January this year, PM Modi launched a ₹75 coin on the occasion of 75th foundation day of NCC. Earlier in 2020, a ₹75 coin was issued to mark the 75th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations. in the year 2018, a ₹75 commemorative coin was issued on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the hoisting of the Tricolour for the first time by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Port Blair. In 2010, a similar ₹75 coin was issued on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary or Platinum Jubilee of the Reserve Bank of India.

Amid the boycott call by the opposition, the Centre has received a confirmed list of 25 political parties, including some which are not a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), that will participate in the inauguration ceremony of new Parliament building on May 28. Apart from the BJP, several parties in the NDA including AIADMK, Apna Dal, the Republican Party of India, the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, NPP, and NPF have confirmed their attendance for the function on Sunday.

Several neutral parties, including Biju Janata Dal, TDP, and YSRCP will be present for the inauguration.

Amongst the opposition parties, Shiromani Akali Dal and Bahujan Samajwadi Party and JDS will attend the function on Sunday.

This comes after 19 opposition parties including Congress put out a joint statement announcing a boycott of the Parliament building inauguration.

On Sunday, it is known through reliable sources that an elaborate ceremony will take place in the morning on May 28, which includes pujas performed by Vedic ritual way starting at 7:30 am these pujas will go on till close to 9 AM, after which the inauguration function is expected to begin at around noon.

For the pujas in the morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha, Speaker, Om Birla, Deputy Chairman, Hariwansh and a couple of top officials are expected to be present

Special priests will be coming down from across the country and performing the pujas, sources said.

At 11:30 am all the invitees including members of Parliament, Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha, chairman and other distinguished guests are expected to be seated in the Lok Sabha chamber in the new building.

The function is expected to begin at about 12 pm and is expected to be over by around 1:30 pm.

During the function, the secret Sengol will be installed in the Central Hall of Parliament in the new building, which is essentially the Lok Sabha chamber. A speech will be delivered by Lok Sabha Speaker Mr Om Birla and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make the closing speech.

Invitations for the inauguration of the new parliament, building slated to take place on May 28 have been sent both physically as well as through e-invitation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who will dedicate to the nation the new Parliament building on May 28, are also likely to deliver a speech after the inauguration ceremony, sources said.

The sources on condition of anonymity tell ANI that apart from sitting members of Parliament of both houses invitations have been sent to Former Lok Sabha Speakers and former Rajya Sabha Chairman. All chief ministers have also been invited to attend the inauguration ceremony.

invitations have also been sent to Secretaries of all ministries of the government of India.

The chief architect of the new parliament building, Bimal Patel & reputed industrialist Ratan Tata has also been invited to the inauguration of the new building.

President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar are likely to release congratulatory messages on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28, sources said.

An invitation has also been sent to certain prominent personalities, including film stars and sports persons.

The new Parliament building symbolises the spirit of self-reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat) and will be dedicated by PM Modi to the nation on May 28.

The present building of the Parliament was completed in 1927, which is now going to be almost 100 years old. The lack of space was being experienced in this building as per the present requirements. In both Houses, there was also a lack of convenient arrangements for the sitting of the MPs which was affecting the efficiency of the work of the Members.

Considering the above, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha passed resolutions urging the government to construct a new building for the Parliament. Consequently, on 10 December 2020, the foundation stone of the new building of Parliament was laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The newly constructed Parliament building has been built in record time with quality construction.

Now the newly constructed building of Parliament, which will work to further enrich India’s glorious democratic traditions and constitutional values, is also equipped with state-of-the-art facilities which will help the Members to perform their functions in a better way.

The new Parliament building will enable 888 members to sit in the Lok Sabha.

In the present building of the Parliament, there is a provision for the sitting of 543 Members in the Lok Sabha while 250 in the Rajya Sabha. Keeping in view the future requirements, arrangements have been made for a meeting of 888 members in the Lok Sabha while 384 members in the Rajya Sabha in the newly constructed building of the Parliament. The joint session of both Houses will be held in the Lok Sabha Chamber.

On May 24, Shabina Anis Qureshi, one of the frontrunners in spreading hate towards Hindus with fake ‘Bhagwa Love Trap’ allegations, published a video on her YouTube channel where she claimed to be attending an event organised by Sajjad Nomani. For those who are unaware, Sajjad Nomani is a Maulvi who is also a campaigner behind brainwashing Muslims by spreading lies about the so-called ‘Bhagwa Love Trap’.

In an hour-long video, Qureshi could be seen attending an event at Shibli Nomani School, Andheri. She claimed that it was organised by Nomani. She introduced a man named Siraj who requested her to attend the event. She said, “I am here because Siraj Bhai, who is in our group as well, works with Sajjad Nomani. He requested me to attend this event.”

It appeared that police were informed about the event where Muslim women and young girls were allegedly gathered for an “awareness program”. Siraj said on camera that police personnel came in multiple vehicles to inquire about the event. Qureshi claimed female police officials took photographs of the event and one of the female police personnel was sitting at the event in a burqa.

She further said, “I went to meet Sajjad Nomani where I met him (Siraj). After listening to me, he called me and joined our group. [Whatever is done or discussed] in the group is forwarded to Sajjad Nomani by him. Notably, her Twitter account has been withheld in India over legal demand by the Government of India.

Who is Sajjad Nomani

Sajjad Nomani is a prominent Islamic scholar and cleric. He has been at the forefront of the misleading campaign. His speeches and provocative remarks have added enough fuel to the fire of Islamism so much so that they have now translated into real-life incidents of attacks.

Several videos of Nomani are available online where he could be heard spreading hatred against Hindus. In one such video, he was heard saying, “8 lakh Muslim women have turned infidel and left Islam after meeting their Hindu partners. RSS has created a team of Hindu youths who are trained in Islamic teachings and Urdu…They are then instructed to lure Muslim women into a love trap.”

Sajjad Nomani claimed that such Hindu men are then rewarded with ₹2.5 lakhs, a house and a job, which is supposedly serving as an ‘incentive’ for the Hindu community at a time of high unemployment.

“Several Hindu youths are fixated on this mission but we are sleeping…Billions of funds have been allocated to take away our Faith,” he alleged. The AIMPLB member urged his fanatic followers to ‘wake up from their deep slumber and take action’.

Who is Shabina Anis Qureshi

In April 2022, OpIndia profile the vicious hatemonger Shabina Anis Qureshi. Shabina Anis Qureshi is the wife of Anis Qureshi, a Maharashtra Congress politician. Anis is the Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and the former Chairman of the MPCC Minority Department, Konkan Division.

Shabina describes herself as an activist and rose to notoriety on social media after beginning her campaign against inter-faith marriages in Mumbai. She claims to run an organization named Hifazt-e-Nasl to protect Muslim girls from marrying non-Muslims.

She has been pushing hate against interfaith marriages and blackmailing couples to opt out of the marriage. Her modus-operandi, however, is legally prohibited. Shabina first obtains information from the notice board of the Maharashtra Registrar of Marriages and filters the data to find out if a Muslim girl has registered to marry a Non-Muslim man. After sorting the details, she visits the couple’s house at their registered address as listed on the site.

She then blackmails both the man and the woman who are willing to marry each other despite knowing their official names and embracing their religions. Shabina thereafter documents and publishes her interactions with the Muslim woman and the Non-Muslim man on social media and YouTube. This entire procedure is intended to persuade the Muslim girl not to marry the non-Muslim man at any cost.

She has become famous and is well-known as the voice of radical Islamists who are opposed to inter-faith marriages. There are several recent incidents highlighted by Hindupost that indicate she has been doing this for quite some time.

Pakistan Govt puts former Pakistan PM Imran Khan, wife Bushra Bibi and 80 other PTI members on no-fly list

On Thursday, May 25, the former Pakistan Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan, his spouse Bushra Bibi and 80 other members of his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were put on the ‘no-fly list’.

According to reports, the names on the no-fly list include prominent PTI figures such as Qasim Suri, Asad Umar, Asad Qaiser, Aslam Iqbal, Yasmin Rashid, Murad Saeed, Malika Bukhari, Fawad Chaudhary, and Hammad Azhar.

Reports quoted sources as saying that the Ministry of Interior in Pakistan acted swiftly to ensure that the details of these persons are sent to all airports and departure points around the country. The appropriate authorities have been asked to strictly execute the prohibition and prevent any of the listed individuals from travelling overseas with immediate effect.

In addition, the Lahore police handed the names of 700 PTI leaders to Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday (May 24), requesting that they restrict their overseas travel for one month. The FIA has been asked to place their names on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL), which prevents them from travelling abroad for the time being.

The list sent to the FIA included the names of fashion designer Khadija Shah, PTI’s senior leader Shafqat Mahmood, Imran Khan’s nephew Hassaan Niazi, PTI’s supporter Sanam Javed Khan, who got famous after her protests outside Zaman Park, and others.

‘Forced divorces’: Imran Khan accuses Pak govt after PTI leaders quit the party 

Meanwhile, Imran Khan, Thursday took to Twitter to pen a long note, accusing the ruling dispensation of Pakistan of trying to dismantle his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), by “forced divorces”.

The PTI chief said the government, on the pretext of May 9 violence and arson, is trying to dismantle the party by “forced divorces” and by trying PTI members in military courts.

The statement came after some of his aides and other top leaders quit the party, condemning the violence unleashed by Imran Khan’s supporters following his dramatic arrest on May 9.

Protests erupt in different cities after Imran Khan’s arrest

The development came amid speculations that the Pakistan government is mulling banning former prime minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf for the chaos that erupted in various parts of Pakistan after Imran Khan’s dramatic arrest on May 9, 2023.

The former Prime Minister and PTI chief’s supporters have taken to the streets to protest against his arrest. According to reports, the large-scale protests emerged after the party appealed to the people to hit the streets. 

The protests had reportedly spread to various cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar and Mardan. Angry crowds of protesters, presumably PTI supporters, chanting Allahu Akbar and Nara-e-Takbeer had lined up on the streets of Pakistan, going on a rampage against Army establishments to protest against Khan’s arrest.

For the first time in Pakistan’s history, protesters stormed the army headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and also torched a corps commander’s house in Lahore.

The Army and police in Pakistan had resorted to water canons and tear gas to disperse Imran Khan’s angry supporters who had created a ruckus in several parts of the country.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan arrested from outside the Islamabad High Court

The protest erupted after former Pakistan Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan was arrested from outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) by Pakistani Rangers. Imran Khan had reportedly gone to the Islamabad HC to seek bail in multiple FIRs registered against him.

According to local media, the PTI chairman was taken in a black Vigo by the law enforcement agency.

The PTI chief reportedly has been arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust case of the National Accountability Bureau as well as the Toshakhana case.
