A day after Gujarat Congress working president Hardik Patel lashed out at his party for ignoring him, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat invited the controversial Patidar leader to quit the Congress party and join the Delhi-based political party.

Speaking to Indian Express, Controversial Patidar leader and Gujarat Congress working president, Hardik Patel on Wednesday had hit out at the party for not consulting him and delaying decision-making on party affairs in the state.

Hardik Patel, who was convicted in a riots case subsequently stayed by the Supreme Court, had asked what the point of making him the working president of the party if he was not being consulted was. The controversial leader said that he is being ignored in the party and added that his position in the party is that of a newly married groom who has been forced to undergo ‘nasbandi’ (sterilisation).

“My position in the party is that of a newly married groom who has been made to undergo nasbandi (sterilisation),” lamented Hardik Patel.

A day after Hardik Patel lashed out at the Congress party, AAP president Gopal Italia said his party was open to welcoming Hardik Patel if he was unhappy in the Congress.

Italia, who is also from the Patidar community and has a close association with Hardik Patel during the Patidar agitation on Thursday, said, “Our doors are open for Hardik Patel, and we will definitely welcome such a revolutionary youth leader of Gujarat. We have seen his acceptability and liking among the Patidar community people.”

The AAP leader said that they have come to know that Hardik Patel is unhappy in the Congress party and wished he should leave Congress to join AAP as a better alternative in the political arena in Gujarat.

“We will extend an invitation to him, and if he agrees and accepts, we will definitely welcome him to the AAP party. We have already extended an invitation to Naresh Patel of Khodaldham trust. We have kept our doors open to all who want to work for the public and are fed up with both BJP and Congress parties,” he added.

The AAP Gujarat chief also claimed that the working style and ideology of Hardik Patel are similar to the working style of the AAP party.

“He has a mass appeal among the Patidar community youths in the state. We have seen Hardik Patel as a young Patidar leader in the Patidar reservation movement in Gujarat, which started in 2015. Naresh Patel is a self-made man who has respect among the Patidar community people for his community service work,” Gopal Italia added.

Hardik Patel had questioned the delay in inducting Naresh Patel into Congress

Hardik Patel had also questioned the Congress party’s delay in inducting Khodaldham trust president and influential Patidar leader Naresh Patel into the party, who is now being wooed by all parties in the state. Hardik Patel said that the delay is nothing but an insult to the entire Patidar community.

“I am seeing on TV that the Congress wants to induct Naresh Patel for the 2022 polls. I hope they do not search for a new Patel for the 2027 elections. Why does the party not utilise the people it already has?”

Hardik Patel also expressed his disappointment over the Congress party not utilising him properly. Speaking to Indian Express, Patel said that it might be because people felt threatened by him within the party.

“I am not invited to any of the meetings of the PCC, they don’t consult me before making any decisions, then what is the point of this post?” Hardik had said.

In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old boy in Koraput city of Odisha was allegedly murdered by two of his friends following a dispute over a mobile phone game. The accused stoned the boy to death and threw him in the nearby Kolab river on Wednesday.

According to the Odisha TV reports, the Police have detained the two boys for thrashing the minor boy to death. The preliminary investigation in the case revealed that the students were studying in grade 7 and that the murder was a fallout of an altercation that broke out between three while playing games on a mobile phone.

The deceased minor boy who was playing a digital game on the mobile phone refused to give the phone to both of his friends. After a short scuffle, the two boys decided to take revenge on the victim and thrashed him with stones, resulting in his death.

The frightened accused boys then carried the deceased minor boy to the banks of the Kolab river and threw him in the water to cover up the murder. Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased boy complained to the police who recovered the body from the water. The body of the deceased boy was identified by his father on Thursday morning.

Earlier on April 13, another shocking murder was reported within the limits of the Koraput city of Odisha. A woman killed her 3-year-old son with a sharp weapon when the ‘Chaiti Parba’ festival was underway in the village. The Police reached the spot and detained the woman, who has not yet revealed the reason for murdering the child.

In the current incident, the Police have registered a case against the accused minors based on the FIR lodged by the deceased’s father. Reports mention that the deceased belonged to the ST category so the relevant sections as per the atrocity act have also been registered. The Police have detained both the accused and the investigations are underway.

India’s trade with the world increases drastically in the last quarter of 2021-2022, increase in trade with China amongst the lowest

Even as the world has tried to grapple with the raging COVID pandemic, India has increased its trade drastically with several nations in the world in the last quarter of the financial year 2021-2022. From January 2022 to March 2022, India’s international trade increased by 50% in total as compared to the last quarter of 2021-2022.

According to official data, India’s international trade increased by 50% (+$340bn) on YoY basis for the Financial Year 2021-22.

The highest increase in International Trade seems to have been between Australia and India, where the trade in the last quarter increased by 67%. This was followed by Belgium (31%), UAE (24%), the USA (24%), Indonesia (19%), and China (18%).

It is interesting to note that while the total International trade increased by $340 billion, the trade with China specifically only saw a marginal increase in comparison. In the last quarter of 2021-2022, the trade between India and China saw an increase of $26 billion.

Given that the total increase in trade with China was 30% and the increase in the last quarter was only 18%, it can be safely argued that the increase in trade with China in the previous quarter was much higher. In fact, the data proves this theory. In all the other previous quarters, the percentage increase in trade between India and China was higher. In the past quarter, the increase has been the least.

In Q1 for example, the increase was 26.47%. In the third quarter, it was 33.41%. Therefore, in quarter 4, the percentage increase was minimum at 18%.

Interestingly, these facts were glossed over by the media while reporting on the increase in International trade.

The Hindu, for example, decided to run with the headline, “India’s Q1 imports lift trade with China to record high”.

The Hindu wrote, “The 15% increase in India-China trade was among the highest for China’s major trading partners. Overall, China’s exports climbed 13.4%, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) said, while imports rose 7.5%. Trade increased 9.9% with the U.S. and 10.2% with the EU”.

While writing that the trade increase was the highest as far as China is concerned, The Hindu failed to mention that the trade increase in this quarter was amongst the lower for India as far as percentage increase with other countries was concerned. It is also pertinent to note that The Hindu was replying on Chinese data and not data provided by India.

Growth in imports from China slowing down in Modi govt tenure

The growth in imports from China was minimal in recent years, compared to very high import growth during the UP regime. From 2003-04 to 2013-14, imports from China had increased by a whopping 1,160% which went up from $6.05 billion to $61.60 billion during this period. Compared to that, the imports have gone up by just 8% from 2014-15 to 2020-21. The imports from China in 2014-15 was $60.41 billion, and the same in 2020-21 was $65.21 billion.

In fact, while the trade deficit with China had gone up exponentially during the UPA rule from 2004 to 2014, the growth trend has been arrested during the NDA rule from 2014 and had come down in 2020 before going up last year. The trade deficit with China in 2020-21 was $44 billion, down from $48 billion in 2014-15. Although it went up in 2021, it was mainly fuelled by increased imports of pharma products due to the pandemic.

The trade deficit with China had gone up by almost 24 times from 2004-05 to 2013-14, which has been substantially controlled during the Modi govt.

According to media reports, the Modi government would soon ban the notorious Islamic outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), which has been accused of the violence and communal tensions that erupted in parts of the country last week during Ram Navami. According to sources, this decision might be made as soon as next week.

The PFI is already outlawed in numerous states, but the government intends to ban it through a centralised notification. This group, which was founded in 2006, has come under scrutiny for its suspected involvement in a variety of anti-social and anti-national actions.

According to reports citing reliable sources, the Ministry of Home Affairs has adequate proof paving the way for this organisation to be blacklisted. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the Supreme Court in April 2021 that the Centre was in the process of banning PFI.

Both the Enforcement Directorate and the National Investigation Agency have produced intelligence findings recommending that PFI be banned. PFI is an outgrowth of the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), which was proscribed in 2001 following the 9/11 terror attacks in the United States, according to the NIA dossier. The NIA used the fact that the same people had served on the boards of both organisations to buttress its argument. Meanwhile, according to the ED’s investigation, this group was crucial in generating funding for anti-CAA protests.

In 2020, six members of PFI’s political branch, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), were arrested in connection with the attempted murder of RSS activist Varun Bhoopalam. They also planned to assassinate Chakravarthy Sulibele, a renowned right-wing ideologue, and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya. There is a mountain of evidence pointing to PFI’s direct role in the anti-Hindu Delhi riots in 2020.

Also, on April 14, when violence erupted during Ram Navami processions in Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, MP BJP chairman VD Sharma claimed that the PFI was responsible for rioting and stone-pelting in Khargone, prompting a curfew.

After the National Investigation Agency (NIA) submitted to the Home Ministry a thorough dossier listing the Islamic group’s suspected ties with terror-related instances that the agency had examined, calls for a ban on the Popular Front of India gained new traction in 2017. The NIA had placed the PFI and its political branch, the SDPI, as suspects in the Bangalore blast case, the Kerala professor palm-chopping case, and Kerala love jihad case, among other cases, in its dossier.

An underage tribal girl was gang-raped by a TMC leader and his accomplices after the victim was ‘sold’ to them by her father. As per reports, the incident took place in the Sian Muluk area in Bolpur in the Birbhum district of West Bengal.

The police have arrested four people, including the Trinamool Congress panchayat member Diptiman Ghosh and the victims’ father in connection to the case. According to the family members, the victim’s father had borrowed a sum of over ₹1 lac rupees from the TMC leader.

Unable to pay off the debt, he handed over his minor daughter to Ghosh on March 31 this year. The girl was then brutally gang-raped by the accused and his accomplices, who are residents of the same village.

According to a report by TV9 Bangla, the girl was initially raped by local youth on March 31, who intimidated the victim into silence. As per Anandabazar Patrika, the local youth is none other than the TMC leader Diptiman Ghosh.

The girl went to her maternal aunt’s house in Burdwaman and underwent treatment. Owing to societal stigma, the victim refused to file a complaint. On returning back to Bolpur, she was again gang-raped by the TMC leader and three others. TV9 Bangla and Anandabazar Patrika both reported that the girl’s father was also involved in the heinous crime.

The victim then narrated her ordeal to her cousin’s sister, and agreed to file a complaint at the Bolpur Thana. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 376D (Gang rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and relevant sections of the Prevention of Child Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO).

The accused were sent to police custody by a local court on Wednesday (April 13). SP (Birbhum) Nagendranath Tripathi informed, “Investigation is underway. Charges have been framed under several sections. The girl is now admitted to a hospital.”

In his defence, the TMC leader claimed, “I am being falsely implicated in the case. I am innocent and being framed.” The girl was initially admitted to the Bolpur Sub-Divisional hospital, post which she was transferred to the Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital (SSKM) in Kolkata.

As per a Zee24 Ghanta report, the heinous crime has left the victim traumatised. Citing hospital sources, the news channel reported that the underage girl is unable to speak about her ordeal. She even refused to eat the food provided to her.

The hospital authorities have arranged for a psychiatrist, and gynaecologist to examine the mental and physical state of the victim. The doctors performed surgery on Tuesday (April 12) night to stop the excessive bleeding that the victim had to endure after the crime was committed. The girl is still said to be in a traumatised state.

TMC and its record in crimes against children and women

On Wednesday (April 13), Trinamool Congress Panchayat member Avijit Mondal was arrested for molesting, torturing and attempting to rape a differently-abled woman. The incident took place at Kalukhanra village in West Midnapore. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Pingla police station.

The differently-abled woman had gone to her elder sister’s house in Kalukhara village. The girl was abducted and sexually abused by Mondal when she had gone to the pond to wash the dishes. On the following day, the victim was examined at Midnapore Medical College and Hospital.

A complaint was filed against the TMC members by the family, post which the accused was nabbed. He was produced before a Midnapore court and sent to 3 days in police custody.

Earlier on April 4 this year, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in the Shyamnagar locality in Hanskhali Block Number- I in Nadia district of West Bengal. The accused was named as one Brajgopal, the son of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Gajna Gram Panchayat member Samar Gowla.

Reportedly, the accused had invited the victim to his house under the pretext of birthday celebrations. The girl became unwell, following which she was rushed to a local doctor. She passed away the following day.

According to the family members of the victim, the girl died due to excessive bleeding. They alleged that she was raped by the son of the TMC leader. The family members also claimed that the TMC leader Samar Gowla and other party workers forcibly cremated the girl’s body at a local crematorium.

The incident had created political upheaval in the State, with the TMC supremo and incumbent CM Mamata Banerjee trying to trivialise allegations of rape and murder made by the victim’s family.

Using the much-publicized Bollywood wedding of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Ravish again tried to use his cliched thinly-veiled sarcasm to target the Prime Minister.

Ravish Kumar, in his Facebook post, appealed to Indian media to show the entire wedding without interruption, and not to take a break to start running Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi’s monthly radio program. He also requested PM Modi to avoid making any TV appearances during this time, so that he can enjoy the coverage of the wedding.

He asked the guests to thank PM Modi on camera at the event, or else Enforcement Directorate (ED) will be at their house before they return. Ravish also took this opportunity to target PM Modi for the prices of lemons, asking the guests not to carry back lemons in their pockets from the wedding venue.

The rant against PM Modi on the occasion of Ranbir-Alia wedding left netizens flummoxed, and even got some people worried about the state of mind of the NDTV anchor.

Ravish Kumar and his Facebook rants

This is not the first time that Ravish has gone on a deranged rant using his Facebook account. Previously, he had accused BJP IT cell of targeting him just because someone on the internet made a meme about him. This wasn’t his first rant about the BJP IT cell, Ravish had also attacked them for questioning the Kerala government’s mishandling of the Coronavirus crisis. Like a good journalist, Ravish defended the government from the questions raised over their poor performance.

Ravish has also frequently used Facebook to spread fake news related to PM Modi and BJP. On one such occasion, he accused Dainik Bhaskar of publishing a full-page birthday wish for PM Modi, before being educated by Bhaskar bureau chief about the way advertisements are published in newspapers.

Apart from ranting against BJP IT Cell and PM Modi at every available opportunity, Ravish also sees a conspiracy against him at every turn. When NDTV was dropped from some popular packs because of abysmal TRPs, Ravish called it a plan to block access to NDTV.

On Friday 15th April 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the country will get a record number of doctors in the upcoming ten years. PM Modi made this statement while inaugurating the KK Patel Super Speciality Hospital in the Bhuj district of Gujarat via video conferencing.

While speaking in the inaugural program of the hospital with state-of-art healthcare facilities, PM Modi said, “This hospital in Bhuj will make good quality healthcare accessible to people at an affordable price. Two decades ago, there were nine medical colleges in Gujarat with only 1100 seats. Today we have more than 36 medical colleges with 6000 seats.”

Assuring that the nation will soon get a record number of medical practitioners, he said, “Whether it is the goal of building medical colleges in every district of the country or efforts to make medical education accessible to all, the country is going to get a record number of new doctors in the coming ten years.”

He further said, “Leaving behind the devastation caused by the earthquake, the people of Bhuj and Kutch are now writing the new fate of this region with their hard work. Today, there are many modern medical services in this area. In this episode, Bhuj is getting a modern, super-specialty hospital today.”

Explaining the meaning of ‘better health facilities’ PM Modi said in his speech, “Better healthcare facilities are not just limited to the treatment of the disease, they encourage social justice. When a poor man has access to the cheap and best treatment, his trust in the system is strengthened.”

PM Modi further said, “If the poor get rid of the worry of the cost of treatment, then he is sure to work hard to get out of poverty. This thought has been the motivation for all the schemes in the health sector that have been implemented in recent years. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana and The Jan Aushadhi Yojana are helping the poor and middle-class families who would have otherwise spent lakhs of crores in medical expenses.

UP: Naeem and Mustkim play ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ song in Bareilly, arrested for hampering national integrity after video goes viral

Two people have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly for allegedly attempting to disrupt national integrity by playing pro-Pakistan music on their mobile phones. An FIR was registered on Wednesday against Naeem and Mustkim of Singhai Murawan village in the district’s Bhuta area.

The incident pertains to Singhai Kalan village under Bhuta police station. A video of the incident has gone viral on the internet in which a shopkeeper can be seen listening to “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans. After the video made the rounds on the internet, locals and some BJP leaders protested against the shopkeeper for listening to pro-Pakistan music.

According to police, a complaint was filed by one Ashish, a rural resident who objected to the pro-Pakistan music being played. When Ashish objected, the couple attacked him, forcing the complainant to videotape the incident and share it on Twitter. Since then, the video has gone viral on the internet.

The investigation is still underway, according to police authorities, and additional action will be taken in the future. According to Rajkumar Agarwal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Bareilly Rural), the FIR has been registered under section 153 of the IPC, which relates to activities that disrupt national integration, and an inquiry is underway.

Locals have outraged after the video went popular on social media. People are protesting and putting pressure on the police to take stern action. They emphasized that social cohesion is eroding as a result of such a case coming to light and that people of a certain community are continually attempting to do so in the city.

UP: Three arrested for raising “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans

This is not the first time when pro-Pakistan chants and music have been heard in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier last year, three men were arrested from UP’s Noida for allegedly raising ”Pakistan Zindabad” slogan during a religious procession. The arrests were made after a video of them chanting pro-Pakistan slogans during Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations had gone viral.

The procession was carried out in the Sector 20 police station area. Three people identified as Mohammad Zafar, Samir Ali and Ali Raza were arrested by the police following the incident.

The video clip shows a group of people holding various Islamic flags. The Indian tricolour was also seen being carried in the video. However, some members of the group, while raising pro-Pakistani slogans, were caught hitting the Indian flag with the Islamic flag in their hands.

Days after the attack on the Ram Navami procession in Hirhi village of Lohardaga district, Jharkhand, the Police is suspecting the role of sleeper cells behind the violence. The Police revealed on Friday that there are sleeper cells who have emerged recently in the state and are trying to disrupt the harmony of the place.

Sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district, Arvind Kumar further affirmed that the violence that broke out during the Ram Navmi procession on Sunday was pre-planned. “The clash is not a result of sudden development. There’s a conspiracy behind this. It means some outside forces are taking lead and have led to the incident”, he added.

On April 10, a Ram Navami procession and fair came under attack in Bhokta Bagicha in the Lohardaga district of Jharkhand. As reported earlier, the area falls under the jurisdiction of the Sadar Police Station. Islamists pelted stones at the Hindu procession and set several vehicles, including 10 motorcycles, on fire. More than 16 people were injured during the attack and were immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment. Three of the injured had suffered major cuts on their throats with sharp-edged weapons and one of them subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

The Police meanwhile have appealed to the people to be aware and not believe in misleading rumors. “Sleeper cells disturb the peace in society in various forms. I have appealed to the people of the district not to be misled by anyone and not to believe in rumors”, the SDO said highlighting the need to maintain peace for the betterment of the district and the state.

SDO Lal further said that there has been communal harmony in the district in the past few years, and the recent violence has disrupted the peace and law and order in the state. After the attack on the Ram Navami procession, a heavy police force was deployed in the violence-hit area to pacify the situation. Senior officers of the rank of DIG and SP were also camping in the area.

While the involvement of the sleeper cells in the case is being investigated, the Deputy Commissioner has said that it would be improper to reveal further details at this time. The Police however have assured to nab the rioters who reportedly fled after pelting stones at the procession.

A special investigation team (SIT) has also been constituted to investigate the reason behind the clash. The police force continues to guard the violence-hit area even after five days of the incident and section 144 stays imposed in the Hirhi village of Jharkhand.

The assaulters inflicted around 30 deep wounds on the Congress workers’ arms, legs and head before fleeing. Singh was rushed to Amandeep Hospital in Amritsar in critical condition. The police have not yet registered a case against anyone in this case.

Speaking about the case, SI Charan Singh said that the doctors have declared the Congress worker unfit to give any statement, without which no action can be taken in the case.

The injured Congress worker’s father Pragat Singh said that his son had a disagreement with Aam Aadmi Party supporters during the assembly elections. The matter was later dropped. On Wednesday, at around 11 am, Dilbagh Singh had gone to enrol his three-year-old daughter Jaskirat Kaur in a private school in Nowshahra Pannuan town. He went to the bus stand to get some documents photocopied when around six AAP workers surrounded him and assaulted him. They fled the spot leaving Dilbagh Singh brutally injured.

The kins of the Congress worker claimed that the attack on him was driven by political rivalry. The accused had threatened to kill Dilbagh Singh earlier also. While the relatives of Dilbagh Singh have demanded a fair and speedy probe in the case, SSP Ranjit Singh Dhillon said that a case would be registered only after recording the statement of Dilbagh Singh.
