VHP appeals to Modi government to adopt Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas model for proposed Ram Mandir: Reports

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has urged the Central Government to adopt the model suggested by the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas for the proposed Ram Temple in Ayodhya, as this would speed up its construction, reports Economic Times.

According to the reports, the design of the Lord Ram temple has been done nearly 30 years ago in 1989 when it was placed in the Kumbh in Prayagraj. The construction of slabs for building the temple was also started then and the work of carving stone slabs and pillars has been mostly completed.

“This model of the temple has been there for nearly 30 years — since 1989 when it was placed in the Kumbh in Prayagraj — and it has reached lakhs of homes already,” VHP vice-president Champat Rai told ET. The VHP had set up the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas to prepare for the groundwork for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

“A majority of the slabs have been carved already over the last two decades according to this model of the temple and they are revered by the people,” he added.

According to VHP, adopting any new model by the trust will mean starting the temple’s work from the beginning and that would cause a delay in the of construction taking many years. The Nyas’ model of the temple has two-storeys, going 128-feet-high and 269-feet-long, is “grand and optimum”, he said.

The design of Lord Ram temple and expanse over the 67 acres of government-acquired land in Ayodhya will also determine the location of a proposed 251-metre statue of Lord Ram in the town. The proposed Lord Ram statue is pegged to be the tallest statue in the world.

A senior Uttar Pradesh government official told ET that the idea was to create a dedicated corridor for pilgrims from the temple complex till the statue on the banks of River Saryu and the statue was expected to be completed in 2022.

Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has approved Rs 667 crore for the project under which the statue, a digital museum and an interpretation centre would come up. This project is being modelled on the Sardar Patel statue project in Gujarat.

The Prime Minister is expected to lay the foundation stone of both the Ram Temple and Ram Statue projects in Ayodhya on Ram Navami on April 2, 2020 and the construction is expected to start soon after. Two senior central government officials have visited Ayodhya last week and one senior official each from the Centre and UP.

Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas chief Nritya Gopal Das may be named the president of the proposed trust, while a serving IAS officer from the UP government could become its CEO.

The planned corridor between the Ram Temple and the statue could be in the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi. The work on the Rs 350 crore dedicated corridor from the Kashi Vishwanath temple to the ghats commenced on Wednesday. The PM had laid the foundation stone of the Varanasi project last year.

In a historic judgment on November 9, the Supreme Court had established that the Hindus have a right on the entire 67-acre Ram Janmabhoomi and ordered the construction of a Ram temple by a government trust at the disputed site in Ayodhya. It had also granted an alternate 5-acre land to the Muslims to build their Masjid in the Hindu holy town.

Rajiv Gandhi was not the only one who was killed in the blasts: When kin of those who died along with him were upset with Sonia Gandhi’s ‘forgiveness’

When former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a suicide bomb attack on 21 May, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, 13 other people had lost their lives. When Rajiv Gandhi’s family, including Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi, chose to ‘forgive’ the convicts and said they had no objection if the killers are released, the kin of those who had died along with Rajiv Gandhi were not too happy with the move. How could Sonia Gandhi or her children decide on behalf of family members of 13 others who lost their lives along with Rajiv Gandhi?

When the Tamil Nadu government recommended release of seven life convicts in the case in 2018, the family members had met Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and urged him to not give consent to the same. “All we received of my mother were pieces wrapped in a blood-stained blanket. The attack on Rajiv Gandhi, orphaned me and my siblings. 12 other families suffered because of it. But politicians don’t seem to consider the trauma we have been through. They want to release the murderers for their own political gains and we all condemn this,” S Abbas, whose mother died along with Rajiv Gandhi in the blast had told The News Minute in 2018.

Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination could not have been seen in isolation. Sonia Gandhi or family members of Rajiv Gandhi taking decision on killers of former Prime Minister who also killed other people in the same blast, just show how for the Nehru-Gandhi family members, the sentiments of common man do not matter. They may have forgiven the killers of former Prime Minister, but what about the kin of those who also lost their lives? The ones who had to struggle for years after having lost their loved ones in the blast?

Now, Supreme Court lawyer Indira Jaising has suggested that December 16, 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim Nirbhaya’s mother should also follow footsteps of Sonia Gandhi and forgive the rapists who brutally raped her daughter. The hanging of the four rapists was again delayed and postponed from 22nd January to 1st February after two convicts filed a mercy plea. An exasperated Asha Devi had said how her daughter’s brutal rape has become a political tool for politicians. However, Jaising, took this opportunity to give moral science lecture to Asha Devi instead.

Anti-CAA riots: Delhi police urges ‘protestors’ at Shaheen Bagh to clear the blockage to help residents, school children

On Friday, the Delhi Police appealed to the agitators at Shaheen Bagh to unblock the Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch which is causing huge inconvenience to the residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region.

Following the failure of violent protests perpetrated by the Muslim mobs on the streets of Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia University, few women belonging to Muslim community sat on a protest at Shaheen Bagh and blocked bus stop and a highway causing severe problems to the public of Delhi. They have been frequently joined by media persons and various Congress leaders who have stood in solidarity with the protesting women.

Read: Journalists lay the groundwork for ‘tactical retreat’ of Shaheen Bagh protests: Here are the possible reasons

The protestors have blocked the roads illegally near Shaheen Bagh from past many days as a mark of protest against the CAA causing huge traffic jams in and around Delhi. In order to ease the flow of traffic and prevent any future violent riots at Shaheen Bagh, the Delhi police are taking necessary steps and have urged the protestors to leave the place.

“We appeal to agitators at Road No 13-A, Shaheen Bagh to understand the sufferings, the complete highway blockade is causing to the residents of Delhi and NCR, senior citizens, emergency patients and school-going children,” a police statement said.

“We again urge protesters to cooperate and clear the road in the larger public interest,” Delhi Poli stated.

Earlier, the Delhi Police had also declared that it will not be forcefully evicting anti-CAA protestors from Shaheen Bagh. The statement was issued after the Delhi High Court had directed the police to look into the traffic restrictions on the Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch.

Delhi High Court had asked the police to keep law and order situation and public interest in mind while evicting protesters at Shaheen Bagh to clear roads at the Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch.

The Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch is a key link between Noida and Delhi and has been closed by the Noida Traffic Police in view of the ongoing protests.

Last week, the residents of  Sarita Vihar in New Delhi held a protest on Sunday demanding the removal of barricades and blockage on road number 13A between Mathura Road and Kalindi Kunj, in order to ease traffic movement. The blockage of roads and bus stop is causing huge convenience to the local residents and had urged the Delhi police to clear the roads.

The Shaheen Bagh protests were actually passed as an organic protest in a bid to ‘save the constitution’. However, the masks began to fall off as it was revealed that it was all staged. We had reported on how this was a carefully crafted plan to humanise the violent protestors as a conversation in a WhatsApp group of JNU students right after the Ayodhya verdict gave a clearer picture of how the Shaheen Bagh ‘organic’ protests blocking the highway has culminated.

The protests at Shaheen Bagh have turned blatantly communal as it was exposed just a few days back with protestors shouting slogans of “Jinnah Wali Azadi”, exposing the claims of “liberal-secular” media, who had earlier passed of these protests as peaceful. Later, another Hinduphobic poster came up at the protest site in which the Hindu Swastika was depicted wrongfully and shown crushed by Hindu women in Burkha.

‘Historian’ Ramchandra Guha rebels against the dynasty, questions why Kerala voted fifth generation dynast Rahul Gandhi to parliament

Ramchandra Guha, a Congress loyalist and also a popular fiction writer masquerading as a historian, seems to have got upset with the first family of the Congress party as he has now launched a rebellion against the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty.

On Friday, Ramchandra Guha, known for his ‘Gandhi-fiction’ surprised many Congress loyalists as he attacked Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, particularly Gandhi-scion Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking at Kozhikode in Kerala, Guha said that a “fifth-generation dynast” Rahul Gandhi has no chance in Indian politics against a “hard-working and self-made” Narendra Modi and expressed disappointment that Kerala did a disastrous thing by electing the Congress leader to Parliament.

Guha, who is known for his love for the Congress party, reportedly said that the reduction of the Congress from a “great party” during the freedom movement to a “pathetic family firm” now is one of the reasons for the ascendency of ‘Hindutva and jingoism’ in India.

“I have nothing against Rahul Gandhi personally. He is a decent fellow, very well-mannered. But young India does not want a fifth-generation dynast. If you Malayalis make the mistake of re-electing Rahul Gandhi in 2024 too, you are merely handing over an advantage to Narendra Modi,” said Guha on the second day of the ongoing Kerala Literature Festival (KLF) during his talk, “Patriotism Vs Jingoism”. Gandhi’s father, grandmother and great grandfather have all been former Prime Ministers of India.

Addressing the crowd, Guha added, “Kerala, you have done many wonderful things for India, but one of the disastrous things you did was to elect Rahul Gandhi to the Parliament.” Rahul Gandhi, who in 2019 general elections lost from his family bastion of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, had won from the Wayanad seat in Kerala.

Praising Narendra Modi, Guha said “Narendra Modi’s great advantage is that he is not Rahul Gandhi. He is self-made. He has run a state for 15 years, he has administrative experience, he is incredibly hard-working and he never takes holidays in Europe.” To make sure people understand he is not being sarcastic, he even said, “Believe me, I am saying all this in all seriousness.”

“But, even if Rahul Gandhi was much more intelligent, more hard-working, never took a holiday in Europe, as a fifth-generation dynast, he still will be at a disadvantage against a self-made person”, he added.

Launching an attack on Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Guha said that she reminded him of the “late Mughal dynasty” and how aloof they were of the state of their kingdom.

“India is becoming more democratic and less feudal, and the Gandhis just don’t realise this. You (Sonia) are in Delhi, your kingdom is shrinking more and more, but still, your chamchas (sycophants) are telling you that you are still the Badshah,” he said.

Guha also claimed that his teacher was noted sociologist Andre Beteille and described that the story of Nehru-Gandhi family as a classic “reversal of the famous Biblical injunction” where the sins of the father will be visited upon seven successive generations.

Attacking the left-wing forces, Guha said that the hypocrisy of the Indian Left was the fact that they loved other nations more than India. The rise of aggressive nationalism worldwide and “the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in neighbouring countries are some other reasons behind the evident leap of Hindutva in India in recent times, claimed Guha.

Who is she to tell me to follow Sonia Gandhi’s footsteps? Because of people like her, justice not done to rape victims: Nirbhaya’s mother hits out on Indira Jaising

Hours after Supreme Court advocate Indira Jaising asked Asha Devi, mother of the 2012 horrific Delhi gang rape victim, to follow Sonia Gandhi’s footsteps and pardon death penalty for her daughter’s rapists, Asha Devi has hit out on Jaising.

Reacting sharply to Jaising’s appeal, Asha Devi said that it is because of people like her that justice is not done with rape victims. “Who is Indira Jaising to give me such a suggestion? Whole country wants the convicts to be executed. Just because of people like her, justice is not done with rape victims,” Asha Devi was quoted by news agency ANI.

Shocked at Jaising’s audacity, she further said that she couldn’t believe Jaising would even dare to suggest such a thing. “I met her many times over the years in Supreme Court, not once she asked for my wellbeing and today she is speaking for convicts. Such people earn livelihood by supporting rapists, hence rape incidents don’t stop,” she said.

Last night, Indira Jaising had given Asha Devi an example of Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi and urged her to forgive her daughter’s rapists and pardon their death penalty the way Sonia Gandhi had forgiven and pardoned Nalini, a convict in Rajiv Gandhi assassination. Nalini was arrested and convicted for the assassination of former Prime Minister and Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi in 1991. Nirbhaya, on the other hand, was brutally gang-raped by six men in a moving bus in Delhi seven years back. After fighting for her life for days, she breathed her last. Nirbhaya’s rape and created a nation-wide outrage and raised concerns for women’s safety in India.

Indira Jaising had made the request shortly after Asha Devi on Friday expressed her disappointment following a Delhi court postponed the date of the execution of the four convicts. On January 17, Asha Devi had expressed disappointment with the courts and government after the date of execution of her daughter’s rapists was postponed by a Delhi court. “I am disappointed with the courts, government and the whole system. I do not know if they will be hanged or the date of their execution will be further extended,” she was quoted as saying by ANI.

The death-row convicts who were earlier slated to be executed on January 22 at 7 am will now be hanged on February 1 at 6 am. The new date of execution was announced after two convicts Mukesh Singh and Vinay submitted curative petitions. On Friday, the mercy petition of Mukesh Singh was rejected by the President.

Advocate Indira Jaising asks Nirbhaya’s mother to ‘forgive’ her daughter’s rapists like Sonia Gandhi forgave Rajiv Gandhi’s assassins

On Saturday, senior Supreme Court advocate Indira Jaising gave a shocking advise to Nirbhaya’s mother. She asked Nirbhaya’s mother to forgive the four men who are to be hanged for brutally raping her daughter the way Sonia Gandhi forgave Nalini, convict in Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination.

“While I fully identify with the pain of Asha Devi I urge her to follow the example of Sonia Gandhi who forgave Nalini and said she didn’t not want the death penalty for her. We are with you but against death penalty,” Jaising tweeted.

As Nirbhaya’s mother expressed her disappointment over the delay in the convicts’ execution, Jaising took to twitter to request Asha Devi to follow the example of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, who had forgiven Nalini, convict in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, and asked her to pardon the Nirbhaya rape-murder convicts. Nalini was arrested and convicted for the assassination of former Prime Minister and Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi in 1991.

Indira Jaising made the request shortly after Asha Devi on Friday expressed her disappointment following a Delhi court postponed the date of the execution of the four convicts.

Attacking the Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government, Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi had said that the same people who participated in rallies in 2012 after the Delhi gangrape and held candle marches have now capitalised on the death of the 23-year-old gangrape victim for their political gains.

Proctor of Aligarh Muslim University shown a shoe, called a pimp by students sitting on dharna against CAA and NRC

Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh had emerged as one of the epi-centres of the anti-CAA agitations being perpetrated in the name of ‘peaceful protest’. Today the students of the university who had reportedly shut the main gate of the university as a part of their dharna (sit-in protest) against CAA and NRC, showed a shoe and abused the proctor of the university.

India Today journalist Padmaja Joshi took to Twitter to share a video of the incident, when the students had abused the proctor when he was trying to negotiate with them and convince them to refrain from such activities.

A student in the video can be heard calling the proctor a “dalla” (pimp) while another is seen showing a shoe to him. The agitated proctor, in turn, is heard saying “haan hum hain dalle” (yes we are pimps). Many police personnel are seen standing helplessly watching the students brazen it out when the Proctor tries and negotiates.

On December 22 last year, the students of controversial Aligarh Muslim University, in a bizarre move had expelled their Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of the university. The students had asked them to vacate their official residences by January 5, 2020. The students had also closed down all activity in the university until the VC and the Registrar resigned.

Prior to this, the students and Muslim mob associated with the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) had unleashed violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The ‘students’ of AMU had clashed with UP Police on December 15.

Following the violence in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar, where Jamia Millia Islamia University is situated, it was reported that students of AMU had also clashed with UP Police on the night of 15 December. OP Singh, the DGP of UP, had stated that after Jamia incident, rumours had spread to AMU where students were gathered. He added that despite the police interacting with the students to remain calm and not resort to violence, some students started stone-pelting.

After the incidents of violence at the Aligarh Muslim University on the night of December 15, social media was flooded with assertions that the Uttar Pradesh police may have entered hostels, thrashed students and indulged in vandalism at the Aligarh Muslim University on Sunday night while dealing with a student protest over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

The police stated that despite the proctoral team’s attempts, many students had scaled the gates, and had come outside to clash with the police at AMU circle. Another video showed the police warning the students not to resort to violence and breach orders of unlawful assembly. When the rioters continued to pelt stones, the police had to fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

Asian child sex grooming gangs were given a free pass over fears of inciting racial tensions in Manchester: UK Detective

0

In a shocking revelation, a detective in the United Kingdom has claimed that an Asian grooming gang was allowed to run amok and assault young girls in south Manchester because police officers were ordered to “find other ethnicities” to investigate.

According to a report authorised by Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham to investigate the historic failings of police and social workers, a paedophile network of about 100 suspected assaulters is accused of exploiting 57 young girls in south Manchester in the 2000s. The report states that the gang primarily consisted of Asian men, who hooked their victims on drugs, primed, and sexually abused them. One girl, aged 15, died after being injected with heroin by a 50-year-old man. The report, which was published after a two-year enquiry, stated that vulnerable girls in care were groomed and abused in “plain sight”.

The report is a scathing indictment of the Greater Manchester Police(GMP) which is believed to have been biased in tackling grooming gangs comprised of predominantly Asian Muslim men. Stating that “fears over race relations” ran high, it stated that the GMP and city council shelved an investigation because officers were wary of “many sensitive community issues” around enforcing the law in south Manchester in 2002 and 2003.

Read- UK: Police ‘recklessly ignored’ Muslim grooming gangs sexually abusing Sikh girls for decades due to ‘political correctness’, claims study

The Detective Superintendent, while submitting his findings to the report panel, claimed that though his investigative decisions were not influenced by the concerns about inciting community tensions, the senior officers in the gold command group were of the opinion that the impact had to be “clearly considered”.

The report quotes an unidentified GMP detective constable, who was involved in the arrest and jailing of one non-Asian child sex offender, saying that there were orders from up above to try and get other offenders from other ethnicities while the offending target group were predominantly Asian males.

In 2004, Operation Augusta was launched to unwrap the institutionalised oppression of looked after children, chiefly in the care system in the city of Manchester and around the Rochdale area.

However, today’s report comes years after the death of a 15-year old Victoria Agoglia, who died she was injected with heroin by a 50-year-old man. She had died in hospital due to drug overdose in 2003. Following her mother’s death, Victoria was shifted to child care. The report now says that her carers were cognizant of her being subjected to “multiple threats, sexual assaults and serious sexual exploitation” and were informed that she was being “injected with heroin by an older Asian man but no action was taken by the police or social care”. She subsequently died “having been administered an overdose”, but the men who exploited her “have never been brought to justice”, the report said. Following the publication of the report, grandmother, Joan Agoglia, said the publication of the report made her feel “wonderful as I’ve been fighting for this all my life, it seems”.

The inquiry was commissioned after the former GMP detective turned whistleblower, Maggie Oliver levelled serious allegations of prejudice and gross misconduct of the senior GMP officials while dealing with child offender groups.
As an accomplished detective, Oliver had been in a plethora of investigations, ranging from gangland murders, shootings, kidnappings, to rapes and witness protection jobs. After the report was out, she claimed that she felt “vindicated” by the findings of the report. “The girls have vanished in thin air. We would never be able to ascertain the exact number of lives lost,” she said.

Demanding retrospective accountability for those who were responsible for the deaths of girls, Oliver said that the law should change and those guilty of gross misconduct and dereliction of duty should be charged.

Oliver also accused her superior authorities of misogyny, saying “I was subjected with 15 years of misogyny. I was constantly insulted with remarks such as- ‘stupid woman, she’s become too emotionally involved’, for seeking action against the child offender groups”.

The report has been passed on to the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct to carry out an independent evaluation of the findings and to decide if there are any conduct matters that should be probed.

The head of Specialist Crime for Greater Manchester Police, Assistant Chief Constable Mobs Hussain admitted of falling short of what should have been done to support the vulnerable child victims of sexual exploitation.

“Children expect those who are invested with the responsibility of taking their care, keep them safe and away from harm’s way I want to apologise to all those vulnerable children who were let down by us. Most of the children had to endure unspeakable horrors. Operation Augusta and the work carried out by the investigation team deserves to be commended, we agree the overall operation was not to the standard rightfully expected from victims,” Hussain said.

19th Jan: On a day Kashmiri Pandits were driven out of Kashmir by Islamists, Shaheen Bagh protestors to ‘celebrate resistance’

On 16th January, film actor Swara Bhasker shared the banner of an event titled “Jashn-e-Shaheen.” The event, as it claims, celebrates “resistance” against the Union Government through poetry and songs. Swara urged Delhites to be a part of the event. Nevertheless, the day the Anti-CAA lobby is set to celebrate “resistance” happens to be the same day the Kashmiri Pandits faced resistance in their homeland at the hands of radical Islamists.

The event is scheduled to take place on 19th January 2020 at Shaheen Bagh, the Mecca of anti-CAA protests in India. Protestors largely comprising of Muslim women have been on a 24/7 sit-in for 34 days now. This agitation has led to the blockage of a major highway that connects Faridabad- Delhi- Noida, resulting in traffic jams and public outcry.

A couple of days back, a viral video had also raised doubts about the credibility of these organised protests. The man in the video had claimed that several women participating in these protests work in shifts for a daily wage of ₹500 -₹700. BJP Spokesperson, Amit Malviya has also questioned the motives behind these protests, as none living in Shaheen Bagh is directly or indirectly impacted by the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019.

Nevertheless, the day the Anti-CAA lobby is set to celebrate “resistance” happens to be the same day the Kashmiri Pandits faced resistance in their homeland at the hands of radical Islamists. 19 January marks a black-lettered day in the history of Kashmir. 30 years back, Kashmiri Pandits became refugees in their own state. They were left with 3 choices – to leave Kashmir, convert to Islam or face death. Overnight, a whooping 1 lac Kashmiri Pandits left the Valley.

The forcible exodus was accompanied by destruction of houses, demolition of temples and gruesome murders. Here is a radical Islamist Bitta Karate confessing to killing Kashmiri pandits.

Appeasement politics and the advent of pseudo-secularism meant the genocide was tactfully brushed under the carpet. Abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 has paved the path for the resettlement and rehabilitation in their lost home.

It has been 30 years and the Pandits are looking up to the current political dispensation for a reprise. It should come as no surprise as to why the cabal that has spearheaded anti-CAA protests in Shaheen Bagh or “celebrating resistance” has maintained a stoic silence on this issue.

India summons Pakistan High Commission official to lodge strong protest over recent abductions of Hindu and Sikh girls in Pakistan

0

After the series of abductions of Hindu girls in Pakistan, today the government of India summoned a senior official from Pakistan High Commission to strong protest and share serious concerns about the recent cases of abduction of minor girls belonging to the minority Hindu community of Pakistan.

This action was taken by Govt of India after two consecutive cases of abductions of minor Hindu girls in Pakistan were reported. According to reports, two Hindu girls named Shanti Meghwad and Sarmi Meghwad were abducted in Pakistan on January 14. The girls are residents of Umar Village, Tharparkar, Sindh, Pakistan.

On the next day, another Hindu minor girl named Mehak was abducted from the Jacobabad district of Sindh province in the country.

The government of India summoned the Pakistan High Commission official after Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa met officials in External Affairs ministry to talk about the series of atrocities on minority girls in Pakistan. The ministry had assured that they will take up the matter with Pakistan High Commission today itself.

Before meeting the ministry officials on Friday Manjinder Singh Sirsa had taken to Twitter to once again point out the adversities and inhuman treatment meted out at Hindu and Sikh girls in Pakistan.

Sirsa took to the micro-blogging site to talk about the case of abduction of Mehak. He said that the minor Hindu girl was abducted by a man, Ali Raza, in Quetta city of Balochistan province in Pakistan today. He posted an undated video on Twitter of a man claiming to be the father of the 14-year-old girl, Mehak, who was allegedly kidnapped by a middle-aged man named Raza, while she was returning from school. The accused Raza is said to have two wives and four children.

The distressed father of Mehak can be heard saying that he approached the Station House Officer (SHO) and also the Supridentdent of Police (SP) to help him bring back his daughter. The father claims that the authorities asked him to wait for two-three days.

The Akali Dal leader shared details of another incident that took place in Pakistan’s Jacobabad district, where a person named Wajid allegedly kidnapped a 16-year-old Hindu girl on December 16, Thursday.

Talking about these recent horrific incidents, Sirsa said that the minorities in Pakistan expect a lot from India. He furthered that the silent stance of India in this matter will only increase the “torture” on the Sikh and Hindu families in Pakistan. He added that the minorities in Pakistan look up to India to help them and the Citizenship Amendment Act is a “first ray of hope”.

Pakistan is notoriously known for its persecution of not only religious minorities but also ethnic minorities within their own country.

Last month, Huma Younus, a 14-year-old Christian girl from Karachi was abducted, forcibly converted to Islam and married off to her captor Abdul Jabbar. According to the reports, Younas was kidnapped on October 10 by three men who waited on the girl’s parents to leave the house before forcibly abducting her. She was reportedly taken to Dera Ghazi Khan, a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan, about 600 Kms from her home.

Earlier, Jagjit Kaur, a Sikh girl was abducted and forcibly converted to Islam in Nankana Sahib which had caused a huge uproar. In another horrific incident, a 13-year-old Pooja Sotahar Kumari, daughter of Fatan Rathore, resident of village Bakhsho Laghari in Hyderabad district’s Hosri Taluka, was kidnapped, forcefully converted and subsequently married off to a man identified as Syed Irshad Shah.

The persecution of minorities in Pakistan and other Islamic countries have continued unabated with rampant cases of abduction and forcible conversion of girls belonging to minority communities to Islam being reported regularly.

The Citizenship Amendment Act introduced by the government seeks to provide relief to such Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian minorities who had fled persecution from Islamic countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
