Sweden’s Prime Minister left worried as more people apply for permission to burn Quran in the Nordic country

Amid an enraging debate over free speech in the country in light of the Quran burnings, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson made his first public statement on this issue. Speaking to a Swedish news agency TT, he expressed concerns and said that he is “extremely worried” about the ramifications if more protests are held within the Nordic country in which Quran is desecrated.

Kristersson told the news agency that more people have sought police permission to hold protests and publicly burn the Quran. He stated that he was “extremely worried” over this growing trend and the serious consequences their country could have to face for holding these protests and public burning of the Quran.

He said, “If they are granted (permission to hold protests and burn Quran), we are going to face some days where there is a clear risk of something serious happening. I am extremely worried about what it could lead to.”

Swedish Prime Minister’s worry stems from the fact that on the 20th of July, some protesters stormed Sweden’s embassy in Baghdad and set it on fire. The protesters were apparently angry over the public burning of the Quran in Sweden and Denmark.

Additionally, according to the security service of Sweden, Sapo, the threat level assessment is currently at 3 on a scale of 5. This implies an “elevated threat” during the crisis. Its head added that there had been a strong reaction to recent events.

However, Swedish PM Kristersson clearly highlighted that the decision whether to grant permission for the protesters and allow them to burn the Quran was up to the police.

While both Denmark and Sweden have stated that they deplore the burning of the Quran, they have maintained that they cannot prevent it under rules protecting free speech.

The Nordic country is alarmed by these protests and public burnings of the Quran because they don’t want to strain their relations with Muslim countries any further. This includes their diplomatic ties with Turkey. Since the Russia-Ukraine war began, it has been a stated aim of Sweden to join NATO for which it desperately needs Turkey’s backing.

Swedish government trying to diffuse tensions with the Islamic world, accuses Russia of exploiting the situation

The Swedish government has been publicly distancing itself from these protests and the act of desecration of the Quran. In line with this, they have accused other countries, particularly Russia, of trying to exploit the situation. Swedish government asserts that other countries are exploiting the crisis to undermine Swedish interests and obstruct their bid to join NATO.

In fact, a few days earlier, on 26 July, it launched an aggressive campaign stating that Russia-backed actors have been attempting to damage the country’s image by falsely claiming that the Swedish government had supported the burning of the Quran.

Back then, the minister for civil defence, Carl-Oskar Bohlin said, “Russia-backed actors are amplifying incorrect statements such as that the Swedish state is behind the desecration of holy scriptures.”

Similarly, the Swedish foreign minister, Tobias Billström said, “In some countries, there is a perception that the Swedish state is behind, or condones this. We don’t.”

He added, “These are acts committed by individuals, but they do it within the framework of freedom of speech laws.”

Billström stated that he had been in touch with the foreign ministers of Iran, Iraq, Algeria, and Lebanon, among others. Additionally, he claimed that he held talks with the UN secretary-general about the current crisis. He maintained that he also had a conversation scheduled with the secretary-general of the multinational Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss this matter. However, he maintained that there is no quick solution for this issue.

He said, “We will discuss these issues and it’s important to stress that this is a long-term issue – there are no quick fixes.”

Troubled waters for the Swedish government on the internal front

On the internal front, the Swedish government is facing a serious challenge to walk a tightrope and defend its far-reaching freedom of speech laws, while at the same time avoiding offending Muslims.

The anti-immigration Sweden Democrats party has complicated matters further for the Swedish government. Though it is not formally part of the government, their support has been keeping the right-of-centre coalition in power.

On their part, the leaders of the Sweden Democrats party, the biggest party on the right, have repeatedly opposed the “Islamisation” of Swedish society. Additionally, they have regularly called the immigrants to adopt “Swedish” values.

Himachal Pradesh: Police team held hostage during a raid to bust a gambling den in Una district; five booked

Five people are accused of holding a police team hostage for a while after they raided a store in the Una region to bust a gambling ring. After the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party attacked the incumbent Congress government for allowing the state’s law and order to degenerate into a “puppet in the hands of hooligan elements.”

Following a tip-off about a gambling den operating there, the police conducted an investigation at the shop near the Himachal Pradesh-Punjab border in the Santokgarh district on 27 July, according to the officials.

Three individuals got into a fight with the police squad when they entered the location to look for evidence, while two others dropped the shutter from the outside and locked it. The policemen were confined with the three accused for around 20 minutes before another police unit arrived and rescued them.

The police stated that in compliance with Sections 342 (wrongful imprisonment), 186 (obstructing a public worker from performing his duties), and 34 (joint culpability) of the Indian Penal Code, a complaint has been launched against the five perpetrators. They mentioned that all of the offenders were apprehended on 28 July and later released on bail.

The Una police have been clamping down on gamblers for the past seven months, based on the officials, during which time 135 related First Information Reports have been registered and a fine of 4.5 lakh has been collected.

Meanwhile, Satpal Satti, a BJP lawmaker from the region charged on 28 July that the neighbourhood’s safety and security situation is in jeopardy as a result of the ruling party’s interference and the mafia’s takeover.

He described the most recent incident as “disgusting” and accused local law and order had devolved into a “puppet in the hands of hooligan elements.” He further declared that his party would fight against the expansion of mafia power in Una and other areas of the state under the regime of Congress.

PM Modi inaugurates Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam, highlights importance of mother tongue as the medium of instruction in schools

On July 29, Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2023 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan in Delhi. The ‘Samagam’ coincides with the third anniversary of the National Education Policy, NEP 2020.

During the event, PM Modi released the first instalment of funds for schools under the PM SHRI Scheme. He also released 100 education and skill curriculum books translated into 12 Indian languages and while doing so he stressed the importance of the mother tongue as the medium of instruction in schools, which is being promoted in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, he said.

Noting that today marks the third anniversary of the National Educational Policy, the Prime Minister praised the academics, teachers, and intellectuals for taking on this duty and contributing to the enormous progress. Speaking about the exhibition showcased on the occasion, the Prime Minister emphasised the demonstration of abilities, education, and cutting-edge methods. He discussed how education and schooling are evolving in the nation, where young children are learning through engaging activities and expressed optimism for the same. He also urged the guests to explore the exhibition.

Even at the UN, I speak in the Indian language: Modi stresses on importance of mother tongue

Rooting for the use of the mother tongue as the medium of instruction under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, PM Modi said while addressing the nation after the inauguration, “Judging the youth on the basis of their language instead of their talent is the biggest injustice done. Due to the education in the mother tongue by NEP 2020, the real justice towards youth is going to start, said PM Modi.”

Giving the example of Europe, the Prime Minister said that most countries make use of their own native languages. He lamented that even though India has an array of established languages, they were presented as a sign of backwardness, and those who could not speak English were neglected and their talents were not recognised.

As a result, the Prime Minister said, the children of the rural areas remained most affected. He emphasized that the country has now begun to shun this belief with the advent of the National Educational Policy. “Even at the UN, I speak in the Indian language”, Modi added.

“From social science to engineering studies will be in Indian languages. Through NEP all languages will get their due respect,” Modi added.

While releasing 100 education and skill curriculum books translated into 12 Indian languages, PM Modi said that the National Education Policy’s objective is to turn India into a hub for research and innovation. NCERT is writing news books in all 22 Indian languages for teaching about 130 different subjects. Education will now be provided in Indian languages, ranging from social science to engineering, he said, adding that due to NEP all languages will be given the respect they deserve.

Further, while releasing the first instalment of funds under the PM SHRI Scheme during the event, Modi said that as envisioned by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these schools will cultivate students in a way that enables them to become involved, effective, and contributing citizens for constructing an equitable, inclusive, and plural society.

The Prime Minister said among the various parameters of quality education, India’s big effort is for equality. “Priority of NEP is that every youth of India should get the same education and the same opportunity for education”, he said, emphasizing that this is not limited to opening schools.

World is looking at India as a nursery of new possibilities: PM Modi

He emphasized that equality should be extended to resources along with education. This, he said, means that every child should get options as per choice and capacity. “Equality in education means that no child is deprived of education due to place, class, region”, he said. He pointed out that thousands of schools are being upgraded under the PM SHRI Scheme. “In the age of 5G, these modern schools will be a medium of modern education”, he added.

He mentioned Eklavya Schools in tribal villages, Internet facilities in villages and students receiving education through modes like DIKSHA, SWAYAM and Swayamprabha. “Now, In India, the gap of resources needed for education is being covered rapidly”, he said.

“Any reform requires courage, and the presence of courage leads to the birth of new possibilities”, Modi said as he underlined that the world is looking at India as a nursery of new possibilities.

The Prime Minister gave examples of software technology and space tech and said that it is not easy to compete with India’s capability. Speaking about defence technology, the Prime Minister said that India’s model of ‘low cost’ and ‘best quality’ is sure to be a hit.

He further emphasized that the respect for India’s education system has significantly increased in the world with the increase in India’s industrial reputation and startup growth ecosystem. He noted that the number of Indian institutes is increasing in all the global rankings and informed about two IIT campuses opening up in Zanzibar and Abu Dhabi.

“Many other countries are also urging us to open IIT campuses in their own countries”, he said.

He also touched upon many global universities willing to open their campuses in India due to the positive changes coming in the education ecosystem. He informed that two Australian universities are about to open their campuses in Gujarat’s GIFT City.

Modi emphasized strengthening educational institutions continuously and working towards making them future-ready. He stressed the need to make India’s institutes, universities, schools and colleges the centre of this revolution.

Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam is being held on July 29 and 30, 2023. The opening ceremony will take place in the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. The event will have sixteen sessions, in which discussions will be held on themes including Access to Quality Education and Governance, Equitable and Inclusive Education, Indian knowledge System, Internationalisation of Education, Issues of Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups, National Institute Ranking Framework, among others.

Prior to inaugurating the event, PM Modi visited an exhibition held to mark the three years of the launch of the new NEP where he interacted with students

Fact Check: Did Morari Bapu say Modi Govt failed? Unravelling misreporting and his actual statements

Renowned Katha Vachak (Dharmik Storyteller) and saint Morari Bapu recently organised a special Ramkatha. Along with his 1008 disciples and devotees, he has started a train journey. This train will travel to all the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country and the Katha program of Morari Bapu will be held at all the places. The yatra started from Haridwar on 22nd July 2023 and will conclude at Talgajarda in Gujarat.

Last week, the media extensively covered the special Ramkatha event, during which renowned speaker Morari Bapu was interviewed by several major TV news channels, including ABP News. In the ABP interview, certain claims were made suggesting that Morari Bapu had disapproved of the Modi government. However, the fact is, he has not made any such comment, and his remarks were twisted and taken out of context to claim that he criticise the Modi government. Let’s delve into the details to understand the context and truth of these claims.

The July 28, 2023 edition of the Rajkot-based evening daily, Headline, featured a news article with the headline “Hey, Ram! Morari Bapu Suggests Modi Government Has ‘Failed’!” The report claimed that Morari Bapu, while giving his opinion on the Modi government in the interview, had said that he gives 30 marks out of 100 to the present government, that is, not even passing marks. The photos also have a special significance in the reports. In the report, there are pictures of Modi with Morari Bapu. In these photos, Modi looks worrisome.

The report says, “In an interview with ABP News, Morari Bapu was asked a question on the report card of the Modi government, and he said, ‘Earlier I was a teacher. 35 pass marks out of 100 were needed for passing in those days. In the examination when someone used to get 30 marks, I used to pass him by increasing 5 marks.’ On the present government, he said, ‘In the assessment that I have done, I give 30 marks and give 5 marks as grace marks, that is, pass.'” This cutting of the newspaper is currently going viral on social media. But the reality is different.

What is the truth?

Morari Bapu’s interview was aired on ABP News on July 27, 2023, in which he discussed many issues including religion and politics. It is true that he talked about these passing marks here, but he did not take the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi or his government anywhere. He spoke in the context of the current political situation.

ABP News shared a clip of the interview from its official Twitter account, in which Morari Bapu spoke about it.

The anchor asked Morari Bapu, “In today’s date, in your view, is the Rajdharma of Ramcharitmanas-Ramayana established in India? Do we need a change or everything is going well?”

In response, Bapu said, “I won’t say anything about others or say anything about the field of politics. But there is a need to establish Rajdharma among the youth, and that Rajdharma is of love, truth and compassion.” He added, “I was a teacher in primary school. In the paper of 100 marks, 35 marks were needed for a student to get passed. Sometimes if there was a weak student who brought 30, we used to give 5 grace marks to him.”

Then the anchor asked, “How many marks will you give out of 100 in the current situation? Will you judge the politics here with 30, 35 or distinction?” In response, Morari Bapu said, “I can give 30 marks that I have assessed. This is a very big thing and if god gives 5 grace marks, then it will pass.

Here neither the anchor mentioned Modi or his government nor Morari Bapu. The two were talking about the current political situation and this was discussed in its regard.

Therefore, it is misleading to say that he has said this about the Modi government. However, during the broadcast of this interview, the text was written at the top end according to ‘How many numbers did Morari Bapu give To Modi’, but in the interview, he did not mention the Prime Minister or the government anywhere.

ABP News also clarified later that Morari Bapu did not name any political party or Prime Minister Modi during the interview. In an earlier interview, it was by mistake mentioned that marks were given, which was wrong.

Maihar gangrape: Madhya Pradesh administration rolls bulldozer over the illegal constructions of the minor rape accused

On Saturday, July 29, the Madhya Pradesh government authorities demolished the illegally constructed houses of two persons accused of raping a minor tribal girl in Maihar tehsil of Satna district. Meanwhile, the 11-year-old victim remains critical and might be airlifted to Delhi for better treatment.

Rewa ADG KP Venkateshwar said that the bulldozer action was taken today in the morning after a joint team of police and administration arrived at the location along with bulldozers to raze down the alleged illegal constructions of the accused persons who have been identified as Ravi Chaudhary and Atul Bhadoliya. Prior to the demolition, however, the family members of the accused protested and demanded an unbiased investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, Maihar Town Inspector (TI) Animesh Dwivedi said that the accused persons have admitted their crimes. The accused told the police that they stopped the minor girl when she was going to take water from a temple. They took her to a nearby jungle and raped her. Following this, the accused had bitten her multiple times and inserted a wood inside the victim’s private part before leaving the victim to die. Later, the victim was found by her family members in a deplorable state.

The accused persons were employed at Maa Sharda Devi Temple Trust, however, after their horrific deed came to light, they have been sacked. “Their indecent act has tarnished the image of the temple,” read a press statement issued by the Maa Sharda Devi Mandir Management Committee, Maihar, with the administrator’s signature.

Accused Ravi Chaudhary and Atul Bhadoliya have been booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 376DB (gang rape on a woman under the age of 12), 366A (procuration of a minor girl), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 34 (common intention), and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Meanwhile, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the police to take strict action against the offenders and provide the victim with the best treatment possible.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to join hands with Islamic terror outfit Al-Qaeda, says UNSC report

According to a report submitted to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), banned outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) might seek a merger with Al Qaeda to create an umbrella organisation that incorporates all militant groups operating in South Asia, reported Dawn.

“Some UN member states registered concern that TTP might provide an umbrella under which a range of foreign groups operate, or even coalesce, avoiding attempts at control by the Taliban,” the report said. The report, compiled by a UN committee that monitors terrorist activities across the globe, endorsed Pakistan’s complaint that the banned TTP has increased its influence in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover, the Pakistan media outlet reported.

The report further warned, “One member state noted the possibility of Al Qaeda and TTP merging. It assessed Al Qaeda to be providing guidance to TTP for conducting increased attacks within Pakistan.” However, Kabul rejected UNSC report claiming Al Qaeda’s presence in Afghanistan.

According to the document, training camps run by various terrorist groups in Afghanistan’s Kunar province are being used by fighters of the banned TTP as well. “Since the reunification with several splinter groups, and emboldened by the Taliban take over in Afghanistan, TTP has aspired to re-establish control of territory in Pakistan.,” the report added.

The report further said that the TTP does not control territory. “TTP capability is assessed as not matching its ambition, given that it does not control territory and lacks popular appeal in the tribal areas,” the report said.

The UN committee reported that in June, certain elements of the banned TTP were relocated away from the border area, as part of the Taliban’s efforts to rein in the group under pressure from the government of Pakistan, reported Dawn.

Furthermore, the UN committee submitted its report to the Security Council on July 25, highlighting how the banned TTP was gaining momentum in Afghanistan since the Afghan Taliban took control in August 2021. It also emphasized on how other terrorist groups were using the TTP cover to operate in the war-torn country., reported Dawn.

“The distinctions between members of Al Qaeda and affiliated groups, including TTP, and [IS-K] are at times blurred at the edges, with individuals sometimes identifying with more than one group and a tendency for people to gravitate towards the dominant or ascending power,” the report noted.

The report added, “There is growing reporting that other sanctioned terrorist groups are using support to TTP as a means to evade control by the Afghan Taliban.” According to Dawn, the UN committee noted that relationship between the Taliban and Al Qaeda remains close and symbiotic.

Mostly, Al Qaeda “operates covertly in Afghanistan to help promote the narrative that the Taliban comply with agreements not to use Afghan soil for terrorist purposes.” Under the patronage of high-ranking officials of the de facto Taliban authorities, “Al Qaeda members infiltrate law enforcement agencies and public administration bodies, ensuring the security of Al Qaeda cells dispersed throughout the country”.

Bihar: Maulvi caught on camera doing obscene acts with a school girl, police launches investigation after video goes viral

A Maulvi (Muslim cleric) has been caught on camera doing obscene acts, forcing himself on a school girl and allegedly making sexual advances. Apparently, on 29 July, a video reportedly from Bihar’s Siwan district has gone viral on the internet. In the viral video, a Maulvi can be seen indulging in obscene acts and forcing himself on a school girl, presumably a minor. According to the information received, the obscene act caught in the video reportedly took place somewhere in Siwan’s Andar Thana area.

According to reports in local news media, the Maulvi caught on camera doing obscene acts with a girl student has been identified as Salauddin Ansari, a resident of Andar Bazar.

In the video, Maulvi is seen talking and touching the schoolgirl inappropriately while alarmingly the girl appears to be complicit and does not oppose Maulvi’s obscenity.

The viral video has galvanised the locals. They have also demanded that swift and strict action should be taken against the Maulvi preying on the school girl. They asserted that a new Maulvi is exploiting girls through black magic and sorcery.

According to the information received by locals, a new Maulvi had recently arrived at the tomb of a Pir Baba in the Andar Thana area. The Maulvi does the work of exorcism claiming to remove evil spirits. As per locals, women and girl students pay a visit to the Maulvi to seek protection from evil forces. They come in the belief that the Maulvi through black magic and sorcery, runs a broom over their head to bless them.

However, in the guise of blessing them, the Maulvi has been exploiting young girls for some time now. The locals added that the said girl student seen in the viral video came in contact with the Maulvi. It is said that for the last several days, he was doing these same heinous activities with the girl student. But this time, someone secretly recorded his obscene act on camera and made it viral on social media.

Acknowledging the viral video, Andar station in-charge Kumar Vaibhav stated that information about some viral videos has been received. The case is being investigated. “The viral video is being investigated. Further action will be taken on the basis of the investigation report”, he was quoted saying in ETv Bharat.

Convert to Islam or be killed: Muslims warn a Hindu student after beating him for wearing tilak to school in Rajasthan’s Alwar, case registered

An instance of the thrashing of a Hindu boy on 27 July who attended a school in Rajasthan’s Alwar district for wearing a tilak (forehead mark) has come to light. He was reportedly assaulted by the Muslim students and then their family members at the institution. It has created an atmosphere of tension in the area. Police have registered a case against six people in the matter.

The issue took place at the Government Higher Secondary School in Chauma Village in the Alwar District. The controversy commenced on 25 July when Muslim pupils protested against the Hindu student for putting Tilak to school. The following day, several Hindu students reached the school sporting the sacred symbol and Muslim students opposed it again.

Afterwards, the principal attempted to persuade both sides through dialogue in view of the mounting uproar. He stated that no one should object to applying tilak. However, the matter didn’t die down there and erupted a second time on 27 July at around 9 in the morning.

Two pupils initially engaged in the dispute and later, a few more of them joined in. A Hindu boy in class eleven was intimidated by 7 or 8 Muslim students for donning tilak. Furthermore, the perpetrators made an attempt to remove the auspicious mark on his forehead.

He tried to complain to the principal when they surrounded him, took off his tilak and assaulted him brutally. When Yusuf Mev, a relative of one of the accused, learned of the unfolding events, he arrived at the institution, attacked the victim and fled from the spot. The latter has revealed that the offender and his family have threatened him and his family to embrace Islam. He has been asked to convert or he will be killed.

The occurrence that took place in the school has been reported by the boy’s family to the nearby Ramgarh police station. The police lodged a case against six people under sections 143, 323, 341, 506, and 295(a) of the Indian Penal Code based on his statement as well as the complaint.

According to the police, there are at present negotiations going on between the parties involved in the dispute. A heavy police force has been deployed in the village to prevent any rise in the conflict and tackle any situation.

In another similar situation, a girl was expelled from school for adorning a rudraksha along with tilak. The school management asked her to put a smaller tripund, but she refused. They claimed that she was vitiating the institution’s atmosphere. Moreover, she also passed remarks about pupils who practised other religions. The officials sought an inquiry and action against the school administration after learning about the dubious state of affairs.

‘Hire bulldozer from Yogi Adityanath’: Calcutta HC judge quips while hearing a case on illegal construction, ruffles many feathers in TMC

On Friday, July 28, Calcutta High Court Judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay suggested that the Kolkata Municipal Corporation could hire a bulldozer from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government. The remark was made while the court was hearing a case on illegal construction in Kolkata.

According to reports, the judge was hearing a plea of a woman seeking protection from some goon after she protested some illegal construction in her area. Her lawyer informed the court that she was so terrified that she is not being able to leave her house.

Reacting to this, the judge remarked that intimidation and bullying will not be tolerated in cases of illegal construction. Addressing the lawyer appearing for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, judge Abhijit Gangopadhya said that they should borrow bulldozers from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath if required.

The remark, according to sources close to the judge, was made in jest and nothing was put on record, however, it did not sit well with a few members of the ruling TMC in the state who lambasted the High Court judge, calling him ‘anti-TMC.’

“Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay wants publicity. He wants fame. The CPM has no role now. They are not in the race. That is why he is trying for the BJP. He doesn’t have any trust in the West Bengal BJP. He doesn’t believe in Sukanta Majumder or Suvendu Adhikari,” Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh said.

Accusing the judge of being anti-TMC, Ghosh further added, “If a bulldozer is required, the West Bengal government also has bulldozers. The (municipal) corporation also has bulldozers. He is blindly and genetically anti-TMC. Sometimes CPM, sometimes BJP. He doesn’t want any respect. He is not willing to take any respect.”

The TMC leader further claimed that women and Dalits were killed in Uttar Pradesh as a result of the Yogi government’s use of bulldozers.

The mayor of Kolkata, Firhad Hakim was also seemingly agitated by the remark made by the Kolkata HC judge. He said that the corporation will “never support any kind of illegal construction” and that it does not believe in the concept of bulldozing. “We believe in development,” he added.

BJP leader Shishir Bajoria also reacted to the judge’s remark and said, “It is very unfortunate that, once, it was said that what Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow. But now Bengal is known for illegal work… Today it is very unfortunate that the Calcutta High Court has made the remark that if they don’t know how to restrict the illegal construction they have to hire bulldozers from Uttar Pradesh. This is so sad. The end of this government and Kolkata Municipal Corporation is near.”

He also criticised the TMC government in the state and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, saying that “In the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, many things are illegal. Rather, nothing is in a straight way. The ruling party is doing this.”

Yogi’s bulldozer- a symbol of strong action against criminals

Under Yogi Adityanath’s rule in Uttar Pradesh, a bulldozer has emerged as a symbol of strong action against dreaded criminals and the land mafia nexus that was rampant before Yogi Adityanath took over as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

The land mafia was, in fact, hand in glove with the political leaders and enjoyed the economic benefits of the illegal lands. Yogi’s government did not discriminate before taking action against any land mafia by his or her caste, creed, religion or colour. Gradually, demolishing illegal properties built by criminals in Uttar Pradesh using a bulldozer became the identity of Yogi Adityanath, earning him the nickname of Bulldozer Baba.

In Uttar Pradesh, dreaded criminals Mukhtar Ansari and Ateeq Ahmed’s properties were bulldozed then the properties of Vikas Dubey and Vijay Mishra were also bulldozed and confiscated. Likewise, the illegal properties of several other dreaded criminals were bulldozed.

In May this year, the Kanpur Municipal Corporation along with the district administration carried out a demolition drive against infamous gangster Mohammad Asif alias Pappu Smart and razed all his illegal properties to the ground.

According to the reports, Asif is one of the prominent gangsters in the state of Uttar Pradesh and several cases including that murder, loot, and extortion have been registered against him. The Kanpur Municipal Corporation rolled the bulldozer over the properties illegally owned by Asif, the video of which went viral over social media.

In fact, last year it was reported that under Yogi Adityanath’s government illegally encroached land worth Rs 3,954 Crore has been recovered by the government.

The Tazia was en route from Dargah Mohalla to Karbala when the incident transpired.

As per reports, a battery exploded after coming in contact with the high-voltage wire through a Tazia, causing the fatalities.

Following the incident, all injured persons were immediately taken to the Bokaro Thermal DVC Hospital for treatment. Asif Raza, Enamul Rab, Ghulam Hussain, and Sajid Ansari were among the deceased. According to Priyadarshi Alok, Superintendent of Police in Bokaro, the event occurred in Khetko hamlet, under the Petarwar Police Station borders, around 80 kilometres from the state capital Ranchi, when their holy banner, made of iron, came into contact with a live wire.

“The incident happened around 6 a.m. on Saturday as the participants were getting ready for a Muharram procession. They were carrying a religious flag on an iron pole. Somehow, it came in contact with a high-tension electric wire carrying 11,000 volts,” the SP said.

According to SP Alok, all of the injured people were brought to a local hospital. Eight of them were sent to the Bokaro General Hospital, where four died from their injuries and three were said to be in critical condition.
