Haldwani protests by Muslim encroachers get support from Amnesty India, accused of receiving illegal foreign funding

On January 3, now-shut Amnesty India came out in support of Muslim encroachers of Haldwani in Uttarakhand who are protesting against the court orders to clear the encroachment. In a tweet thread, Amnesty India condemned the proposal of clearing the encroachment from the land owned by Indian Railways.

Amnesty India said, “We condemn the proposal of the central government’s railway authorities to forcibly evict over 4000 families living on railway-owned land in Banbhulpura area of Haldwani town in Uttarakhand following the order of the Uttarakhand High Court.”

The organisation further claimed that the central government was not providing any support to these encroachers for rehabilitation. It said, “Instead of prioritising access to a basic level of housing for everyone, the central government plans to render some of the most socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society homeless during one of the coldest winters in northern India.”

Blaming Indian Railways for attempting to get its land back and use it for development, Amnesty India said, “The railway authorities aim to develop their projects at the cost of the people living in the area without giving them adequate notice or compensation to find an alternative home.” While blaming the government and railways, the organisation cunningly missed mentioning that these people were encroachers on government land and had no right to the land. Being encroachers, they also have no right to any compensation for getting evicted.

Citing the International human rights standards, it added that “regardless of the reasons for the eviction, it should be carried out in strict compliance with the relevant provisions of international human rights law”. Furthermore, it said, “According to international human rights standards, the authorities must ensure that no one is left homeless because of an eviction, including those without ownership documents. They must offer adequate compensation to all those affected without discrimination.”

The Haldwani encroachment clearance orders and protests against it

Thousands of Muslim residents in Haldwani staged a protest on December 28 against the clearance of illegal encroachments on railway land in accordance with a High Court ruling. The demonstrators claimed that removing the illegal encroachments would make them homeless.

The protesters also claimed that the clearance of encroachments would affect a large number of women, children, and elderly persons residing in the area.

The High Court ordered the eviction of unauthorized residents

The Uttarakhand High Court had recently ordered the authorities to evict forthwith the unauthorized occupants to vacate the premises from the railway land adjoining Haldwani Railway Station, commonly called Gaffur Basti. Accordingly, the action was initiated on December 29 after providing residents with a one-week prior notice.

Further, in accordance with the court ruling, residents of the Banbhoolpura area in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani who live on encroached railway land were also asked to surrender their licensed weapons and guns with the administration before the process of removing encroachments began.

The issue over railway land encroachment in the Haldwani area dates back to 2007 when railway officials conducted eviction operations for land segmentation and clearance of encroachment. It did, however, result in fights and arson, as well as demonstrations and stone-pelting.

On July 27, 2021, the North Eastern Railways delivered over 1,000 eviction notices to Banbhoolpura residents, instructing them to vacate their homes within 15 days. In April, over 500 people received similar notices, while 1,581 people received identical notices in January. The tenants then contended that the continuous distribution of eviction notices was done only to annoy them while the case was still in court.

The Uttarakhand High Court had previously asked the North Eastern Railway administration to remove encroachments on railway land in an order dated November 9, 2016. In the aftermath of the ruling, about 4,365 notifications were issued that year. After dismissing the state’s review plea, the court ordered the expulsion of informal settlers within four weeks in January 2017. The Supreme Court, however, postponed the ruling for three months, citing the fact that the High Court had not heard the petitioners before issuing the eviction order.

A batch of petitions has been filed at the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order of eviction, and it is likely to be heard tomorrow. The matter was mentioned before a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud by advocate Prashant Bhushan.

Families facing eviction seeking ownership rights and resettlement of residents

Families facing eviction have been arguing that the land belongs to the Haldwani Municipal Corporation (HMC) as opposed to the Railways. Some claim long-standing occupancy, stating that they have lived in the region since independence and so the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act of 1971 does not apply to them. Others allege that the property was given to them by the state, while others claim that they bought it at a public auction. However, the counsel representing those facing eviction had alleged in the past that there is a land ownership issue between the Railways and the state, in addition to the demarcation of the land not being complete.

Residents in the Gaffer Basti region have been seeking ownership rights, regularization, the installation of sewage lines, hospitals, and the resettlement of people. They claimed that because the HMC owns 75% of the property, the delineation should be done jointly by the corporation and the railways. They further argued in February this year, that the Railways should only evict those who live on its territory.

The dubious history of Amnesty and it’s Indian chapter

A charge sheet was filed by ED on July 9, 2022, against Amnesty International India Pvt Ltd (AIIPL), Indians for Amnesty International Trust (IAIT), and former AIIPL CEOs G Ananthapadmanabhan and Aakar Patel, accusing them of money laundering. The ED in its prosecution complaint had alleged that the parent organization had routed more than Rs 51 crore to Amnesty India in violation of FCRA to ‘fund anti-national activities in the guise of export of services’.

On several occasions, Amnesty International and its Indian chapter have been found to be involved in anti-India activities. In a report published in OpIndia in 2019, the connections between Amnesty International India, the British government, and radical Islamists were exposed. The organisation has a history of meddling with the internal affairs of India. It has constantly been trying to falsely project India as a violator of human rights and the ‘oppressor’ of Muslims.

Amnesty India and its former head Aakar Patel kept peddling blatant lies and fake news to portray India negatively. It also campaigned for the arrested Urban Naxals in the Bhima Koregaon violence case. Therefore, its actions are clearly tantamount to foreign interference in the domestic issues of India, and it is only appropriate that strict action is taken against it.

Supreme Court grants bail to Vikas Dubey’s relative Khushi Dubey despite UP govt’s objection, cites her as ‘juvenile’

0

Supreme Court on Wednesday granted regular bail to Khushi Dubey, a relative of slain gangster Vikas Dubey in the case in which eight police officers were killed in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Khushi Dubey had challenged the Allahabad High Court order denying her bail in the case. The apex court while granting bail to Khushi, said that she was a juvenile at the time of the incident in July 2020.

Khushi is the widow of Amar Dubey, an aide, and relative of the slain gangster. Days after the ambush in which several policemen were killed and many injured, Vikas Dubey was shot dead by the Uttar Pradesh Police as he allegedly tried to flee from their custody.

“She has to report to the SHO of the concerned police station once a week and cooperate with the trial,” the apex court said asking Sessions Court to impose necessary bail conditions on her.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh police opposed the bail plea of Kushi Dubey.

Before the High Court, Khushi had said that she was declared a juvenile by a board on September 1, 2020. She had also pleaded that she was not a member of the gang of Vikas Dubey, rather her husband was a relative of the slain gangster and they had gone to Vikas Dubey’s house on the day of the incident.

In the High Court, the state government had opposed her bail plea on the ground that as per statements of the policemen who survived the ambush, she actively participated in the assault.

On July 2, 2020 a police raid team was attacked by Vikas Dubey and his aides in Bikru village of Kanpur. Eight policemen were killed by the gangster and his aides in the attack. On July 10, he was killed in an encounter after he “attempted to flee”, Uttar Pradesh police said.

Bangladesh: Hindu activist Rakesh Roy sentenced to 7 years in jail over ‘blasphemy’ case, Roy says he was framed

On Tuesday, January 3rd, a former leader of a Hindu group was sentenced to seven years in jail in Bangladesh over an alleged ‘blasphemous’ Facebook post shared in 2017.

Rakesh Roy, a Bangladeshi Hindu and the organising secretary of Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajote, was sentenced to a rigorous seven-year prison term by Sylhet Cyber Tribunal judge Abu Kashem. In addition to serving a prison sentence, a fine of Taka 1 Lakh has also been imposed on him.

Notably, Rakesh Roy was arrested on June 7, 2017 after an Islamic extremist Fujayel Ahmed lodged a case against Roy on June 5, 2017 under section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology Act (ICT), 2006, which is now known as Digital Security Act, at the Zakiganj Police Station. In his complaint, Fujayel Ahmed alleged that Rakesh Roy had insulted Prophet Muhammad in a Facebook post.

Back in 2017, Sylhet’s Additional Superintendent of Police, Suggayan Chakma had stated during a press conference that Rakesh Roy was arrested from Lalakhal in Jaintiapur upazila.

SP Chakma had said that a screenshot of Rakesh Roy’s ‘objectionable’ Facebook post ‘insulting’ the Prophet Muhammad had been shared widely online. This led to protests in Zakiganj demanding Roy’s arrest.

However, Rakesh Roy has denied the allegations, saying that the objectionable post was made from a fake account created in his name to frame him. He said in his defence that one Abdul Aziz was attempting to convert the Zakiganj Hindus. He objected to the action, which prompted a vested group to create a false Facebook account in his name and post offensive comments to frame him in a false case of blasphemy.

Disappointed with the verdict, Rakesh Roy’s counsel Ishtiaq Ahmed Chaudhary said that he would appeal to the higher court.

It is notable that in 2017, a Bangladeshi American named Sitangshu Guha started a petition (now closed) to Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking the release of Rakesh Roy.

In the petition, Guha claimed that Rakesh Roy, who belonged to a Krishok League and Jatiyo Hindu Oikko Mahajot, was actively working to protect Hindu rights against the “vehement provocation” by an extremist named Abdul Aziz. He further stated that after Abdul Aziz was arrested, a conspiracy was hatched to frame Roy in a false blasphemy case.

Furthermore, the petition emphasised the misuse of section 57 of the ICT Act to persecute and imprison members of minority communities. The petition also made note of the fact that Islamists frequently disseminate rumours to incite hatred toward Hindus and other minority communities before locking them up in violation of section 57 of the ICT Act. The ultimate objective of the ICT Act’s misuse is to oust Hindus from their ancestral homes.

It is pertinent to mention that section 57 of the ICT Act had been widely criticised and even called draconian. According to Section 57 of the ICT Act, anybody who published false, obscene, defamatory, tends to deprave and corrupt its audience, causes or may cause “deterioration in law and order,” harmed the reputation of the state or a person, or “causes or may cause hurt to religious belief” through content in electronic form was subjected to punishment. The ICT act was widely used against the people criticising the government, politicians as well as against the minority communities.

The violating Section 57 was among five contentious portions of the ICT Act that the government ultimately chose to remove in 2018. This was replaced by Digital Security Act (DSA) which came into force from October, 2018. However, because the DSA basically included these portions with even heavier sanctions, not much has changed in Bangladesh, as the critics of the government and people belonging to minority communities are still stuffed in jails by exploiting the law.

Australia: Posters of PM Indira Gandhi’s killers spotted outside Plumpton Gurudwara, had earlier propagated Khalistani agenda

On January 2, a poster of the so-called Khalistan Referendum was shared on the social media platform Twitter that was allegedly hung outside Plumpton Gurudwara, Victoria, Australia. The poster included photographs of the killers of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Beant Singh and Satwant Singh. The poster read, “The Last Battle. Khalistan Referendum. Voting January 29, Melbourne”.

Australian Hindu Media shared the poster on Twitter. The tweet read, “Plumpton Gurdwara glorifies murderers of Indira Gandhi in this poster. How on earth does this further a charitable purpose, Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission?” They told Australian MP Steve McGhie, “Steve McGhie, your poster is next to that of elements trying to import Khalistani terror into Australia. What is your position?”

Notably, India already warned Australia of the increasing presence of Khalistani extremists in the country in December last year after a Khalistan Referendum Rally was announced. Following India’s warning, security agencies in Australia started looking into the matter. However, it appears the Australian government has taken no concrete steps against the so-called Referendum scheduled for January 9 by Khalistani terrorist organisation Sikhs For Justice. reportedly, the rally failed to garner much support in the area.

Several social media handles are sharing the voting details of the so-called referendum voting scheduled in Melbourne. The posters being shared blame the Hindutva system of India for the “Sikh Genocide” of 1984.

Past incidents of Khalistani posters at events in Australia and India’s reaction

Reportedly, In July 2022, Australia Today reported that an Australian Defence Force spokesperson, while addressing the media, said that they had identified an internal process issue after Khalistani posters were seen at the Australian Defence Force marquee at the Griffith Sikh Games. ADF said, “While the attendance of the ADF personnel at this event was well-intentioned, it has identified some internal process issues around attendance at community events and a requirement for further awareness training, both of which are being addressed.”

MEA Spokesperson was also asked about the matter. India’s Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on the matter. Official Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi without getting into details, said, “We specifically got to know that this has happened in Australia, we have raised this matter with the Australian government, and I have no more details to share, but we have taken this up with the Australian government. We had also seen some other reports about the UK, but it was not in the UK, it was somewhere else. But regarding some of the soldiers in Australia, we are talking to the Australian side on the matter.”

Furthermore, several clashes between pro-India and pro-Khalistani groups in Australia have been reported from time to time. In 2021, following a similar clash, a Hindu man from Haryana, identified as Vishal Jood, was jailed in Australia for beating up Khalistani supporters. Vishal pleaded guilty to three minor charges of altercations that happened between September 16, 2020, and February 14, 2021. During the final hearing, Vishal’s lawyer presented video evidence to prove that Jood was provoked by a group of Khalistanis that led to the altercation. For the charges he pleaded guilty to, Jood was sentenced to six months in Jail starting from the day of his arrest, April 16, 2021. He was released on October 15. More details about the case and his interview with OpIndia can be read here.

Plumpton Gurudwara had organised a pro-Khalistani program

Notably, in February 2022, it was reported that four Victorian Gurudwaras, including Plumpton Gurudwara, planned and executed an event to commemorate pro-Khalistani actor-turned-activist, Deep Sidhu. As per reports, on the evening of Friday, February 18, 2022, representatives of the management committees of Tarneit, Miri Piri Deanside, and Plumpton Gurudwaras, as well as several Khalistani activists, met for several hours at Tarneit Gurdwara to finalise plans for the event. It was decided at this meeting that the car rally taken out in memory of Deep Sidhu would end at Craigieburn.

National Commission for Minorities to hold hearing on January 17 to resolve Shri Sammed Shikharji shrine issue

0

In wake of nationwide protests by the Jain community against Jharkhand government’s decision to turn Shri Sammed Shikharji Tirth into a tourism hub, the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has taken cognisance and said that it will hold a hearing on January 17 to resolve the matter. NCM has also summoned the Union environment secretary and Jharkhand chief secretary.

Taking notice, the NCM in a statement said that it had received from various representatives of the  Jain community regarding the central and the Jharkhand government’s decision to turn the Jain pilgrimage site Shri Sammed Shikharji Hill into an eco-tourism spot.

“This decision has hurt the religious sentiments of the Jain community. Encroachment and other issues at Shri Sammed Shikharji are also brought up in the community’s submissions. Jains from all over the country have asked the Commission to designate Shri Sammed Shikharji as a sacred site. The Government of Jharkhand has previously been asked by the National Commission for Minorities to take the request of the Jain community into consideration,” the NCM statement read.

It is notable that the Jain community has been carrying out peaceful protests in various parts of the country against the Jharkhand government’s move to develop Shri Sammed Shikharji as a tourism centre, a decision that members of the Jain community and their monks believe would chip away at the region’s spiritual significance and make way for the commercialisation of a pilgrim centre from where 20 out of the total 24 Tirthankaras of the current cycle attained salvation.

As a part of the Tourism Policy launched in July 2022, the Jharkhand government decided to promote religious tourism at Parasnath Hills. Every year, thousands of Jains from across the world. undertake the 27 km long trek of climbing the hills to reach the summit that houses the salvation shrines of 20 Tirthankaras. Besides, the hills are also considered holy by the members of the Santhal tribe, who regard it as ‘Marang Buru’ and hold an annual festival here in mid-April.

Ever since the Jharkhand government decided to turn Shri Sammed Shikharji Tirth into a tourist spot, Jains have been carrying out peaceful protests across the country. On December 21st, 2022, members of the Jain community observed a one-day bandh as a mark of protest. On January 1st, 2023, members of the Jain community staged a protest in the national capital and other states of the country. Jain Muni Sugyesagar Maharaj died on January 3rd after fasting for the last 10 days against the Jharkhand government’s decision on the Shri Sammed Shikharji pilgrim centre.

Haldwani ‘protests’ by encroachers a social media drama, markets working as usual, Owaisi-Zubair types want to make it Shaheen Bagh 2

On Tuesday, January 3, 2023, OpIndia team visited Haldwani in Uttarakhand to conduct a ground investigation of the dispute over the removal of illegal encroachers on railway land in the city. Due to the outrage on social media and the coverage in national media, we expected the place to be simmering with tension. However, contrary to the media reports the situation in Haldwani felt quite normal. There was vibrant activity in the markets and people were busy with their daily activities. Apart from the rest of the areas, Banbhoolpura area, which witnessed the protests by the illegal encroachers this week, also looked completely calm.

Continuous patrolling of the Railway Protection Force

We reached Haldwani railway station around 12 noon. The High Court has issued orders regarding the removal of encroachments on the lands around this station. From the windows of the train, one can clearly see the area called Gafur Basti where illegal occupants have encroached on the railways land, and are being defended by the likes of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and propaganda outlet Alt News’ co-founder Mohammed Zubair. From the station, we saw that Railway Protection Force personnel were continuously patrolling the tracks.

Security forces in the number of 3-4 were repeatedly patrolling the tracks going on both sides of the station.

Security personnel on the Railway lines

Along with this, the soldiers were also ready on the platform. Jawans were also seen patrolling continuously in the parking place of Haldwani railway station.

Force outside station

The best way to reach Gafoor Basti from the station is on foot, because where the boundary of the station ends, Gafoor Basti starts from there.

Heavy police force deployed inside the city as well

After leaving the station campus, we headed towards other parts of the city to take stock of the current situation. During this we visited areas like Sadar Bazar, Kidwai Nagar, Naya Bazar etc. We found that police personnel were ready at almost all intersections. However, after a while a large procession of Sikhs (Sardars) also came out.

Sikhs carrying out a ‘shobha yatra’

The local people informed us that additional police force has been deployed in the city for the security of the Sikh procession. The procession ended around 4 pm, then the police force was also reduced.

The situation is very normal in Vanbhulpura Gafoor Basti

While media and social media reports believed that there is preparation for Shaheen Bagh-2 in Haldwani, nothing like this was visible on the ground level on January 3. The OpIndia team also visited the areas of Vanbhulpura which have been declared as encroachment areas and marked for bulldozing. At those places, people were seen passing the day like normal days. 2 Nepali citizens roaming in Vanbhulpura area and selling vegetables there, when I asked about the place of dharna etc., they told themselves that they are unaware of any matter.

Even after visiting almost the entire Vanbhulpura area, we did not see any crowd, any noise, protest or uproar anywhere.

The special thing here is that apart from the rest of the city, people were not heard discussing the occupation and anti-encroachment campaign in Vanbhulpura area itself. The main topic of their conversation was cold and temperature.

Media movement is also negligible

In Haldwani, where top trends are being done in social media, the media movement was negligible. While roaming in Vanbhulpura and Kidwai Nagar areas for about 2 hours, we saw only the team of ‘Mirror Now’ doing coverage. However, on seeing him, someone from behind shouted ‘media go back’. During this no one talked to the media persons. His team returned after about 15 minutes.

OpIndia team will be on ground in Haldwani for next 2-3 days and bring you reports. Along with finding out the truth about the protests, our team will also try and go to the bottom of the ‘Muslims in India under attack’ narrative that is being peddled. We will also try and find out who all are supporting these protests, both local as well as outsiders. The crowd that is being shown on social media as the affected people, we will try and find out who they are.

Drunk man Shankar Mishra on Air India’s New York-Delhi flight urinates on old woman inside business class, walks away free

A drunk male passenger on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi recently exposed himself and urinated on a female co-passenger, as per reports. The incident happened in business class on the flight. However, the drunk male wasn’t apprehended by the crew.

The incident came to light only after the woman, a senior citizen in her seventies, wrote a letter to Tata Group’s chairman N Chandrasekaran.

As per a report in Times of India, the woman had alerted the cabin crew, but the male passenger walked away scot-free after arriving in Delhi. The woman stated that her clothes, bag and shoes were soaked in urine.

She stated that the incident happened after the lights inside the flight were dimmed after meals were served. The crew reportedly gave her a pair of pyjamas, and slippers and asked her to return to the same seat. Though several seats were vacant in the first class, the woman was asked to sit on a crew seat.

As per the report, the incident happened on November 26 on board Air India’s flight AI-102, which departed New York’s JFK Airport. “Shortly after meals were served and lights were dimmed, another passenger walked to my seat, unzipped his pants, relieved himself and continued to expose me to his private parts”, the woman has complained.

Air India has informed that a police complaint has been filed against the accused male passenger. An internal committee has recommended putting the man on a ‘no fly’ list.

Update: This report was published on January 4th, and on January 5th it was reported that the accused man has been identified as Shankar Mishra. The headline has been updated to reflect the same. Delhi Police said that Mishra is a resident of Mumbai but at present, he is not present there. Police also added that they are searching for him and will arrest him at the earliest.

US govt asked Twitter to suspend accounts linking Covid to Wuhan lab and bioweapons research, over 250,000 handles were axed

Twitter chief Elon Musk on Tuesday disclosed that US Government demanded the suspension of 250k Twitter accounts, including those belonging to journalists and Canadian officials, reported Fox News.

He made the revelation while sharing the latest round of “Twitter Files,” which were made public by the journalist Matt Taibbi.

“US govt agency demanded suspension of 250k accounts, including journalists & Canadian officials!” tweeted Musk. The new release of internal Twitter correspondence details the relationship between the social media company and government agencies.

Taibbi revealed the US government’s mounting and endless pressure on Twitter to work hand-in-hand with Congress to hunt for Russian meddling on the platform, reported Fox News.

The Global Engagement Center — described by Taibbi as “a fledgling analytic/intelligence arms of the State Department” — went public by releasing a report to media with a list of “suspect accounts” which it said were “Russian personas and proxies.”

However, Twitter’s subsequent task force to hunt Russian influence on the platform showed “no coordinated” effort and mostly “lone-wolf” accounts with low ad spends, reported Fox News.

These accounts were described based on criteria like “‘Describing the coronavirus as an engineered bioweapon,’ ‘blaming “research conducted at the Wuhan institute,’ and ‘attributing the appearance of the virus to the CIA’,” according to Taibbi.

The GEC report included a list of accounts that followed “two or more” Chinese diplomatic accounts and was 250,000 names long.

Under U.S. government pressure, Twitter went on to suspend nearly 250,000 accounts, including accounts tied to journalists, some questioning the pandemic’s origins, and accounts that followed “two or more” Chinese diplomatic accounts, reported Fox News.

Notably, an earlier batch of the “Twitter Files” showed former President Donald Trump was de-platformed after pressure from the social media company’s employees.

Off lately, there have been many changes on Twitter after Musk became the CEO of the microblogging site. Recently, he announced a change in the User Interface of the platform’s ‘Bookmarks’ feature.
Musk hinted that the upcoming changes would make it “Easy to create folders to bookmark tweets into various categories”.

Musk had earlier announced “Significant backend server architecture changes” on the platform.
The multi-billionaire announced earlier on that the new Twitter Policy will not only follow science but also question science, reasonably.

“New Twitter policy is to follow the science, which necessarily includes reasoned questioning of the science,” Musk tweeted.

Musk stated, “Anyone who says that criticizing them is doubting science itself cannot be regarded as a scientist,” in a follow-up tweet to his initial policy statement.

In a major development into the Kanjhawala case, deceased Anjali’s friend Nidhi, who was on the pillion seat at the time of the incident, on Tuesday said that the men knew the girl has got stuck under their car, still they kept dragging her.

“After the car hit us, I fell to one side. My friend got stuck under the car. Men knew that the girl had stuck under their car, still, they deliberately kept dragging her,” she said. In a shocking revelation, Nidhi said that Anjali was in an inebriated state but still insisted on driving the two-wheeler.

While speaking to ANI, the eyewitness, said, “She was in a drunken state but insisted on driving the two-wheeler. After being hit by the car, she came under the car, and got dragged with it. I was scared and went away and returned home, didn’t tell anything to anyone.”

“It is the fault of the girl who was driving in an inebriated state. I insisted to her so much that don’t drive, I am conscious, let me drive. She didn’t believe me and believed herself,” Nidhi added.

The Delhi Police have found CCTV footage in which the deceased woman Anjali and her friend, identified by police as Nidhi, were seen coming out of a hotel at around 1.30 am on January 1.

The hotel manager has revealed that the deceased woman Anjali and her friend, identified by police as Nidhi, had a fight in the hotel after which they left the hotel on a scooty.

“She is cooperating with the police. Her statement is being recorded under section 164. The investigation is still on. It is still at a primary stage,” said the Special CP.

A 20-year-old woman, named Anjali was killed in the early hours of New Year after her scooty was hit by a car and she was reportedly dragged for several kilometres under the vehicle on the city’s roads.
