Elon Musk finds #StayWoke T-shirts at Twitter headquarters in San Francisco, shares video

Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday revealed that company headquarters located in San Francisco had a closet full of “stay woke” T-shirts. The billionaire entrepreneur who took over Twitter last month took to the microblogging platform to share a video of the cupboard at the Twitter headquarters, showing black and blue T-shirts with “#StayWoke” printed on them.

“Found in closet at Twitter HQ fr,” the Tesla CEO wrote above the clip along with two laughing emojis.

In the 12 second video shared by Musk and viewed by over 6.8 million times in just a few hours, the new Twitter CEO could be heard speaking off camera as he inspects the T-shirts found in the closet.

He said, “He we are at the merch and there is an entire closest full of # woke t-shirts.”

Another unknown man in the video briefly interjects and says, “a secret closet.”

Users call out Twitter’s leftwing prejudice after Musk reveals #StayWoke T-shirts found at HQ

Political analyst James Wood commented on Musk’s video. Lambasting Twitter for being biased, Wood tweeted, “These a-holes destroyed a presidential election by stifling the free speech of half the country. May everyone of them go broke. The very definition of the ‘banality of evil’.”

Another Twitter user quoted the organisation when it rubbished allegations of its alignment with the Left as the figment of right-wing extremist propaganda. “There was no ideological capture at twitter at all. That’s all make believe right wing extremist propaganda,” tweeted the user, highlighting the response made by Twitter against allegations of prejudice before Musk took over.

Aditya Raj Kaul, an Indian journalist, quoted Musk’s tweet and said it is confirmation of Twitter was being used for blatant biased propaganda by wokes.

Massive churn at Twitter after Elon Musk takes over the social media behemoth

The video comes in the wake of massive layoffs and mass resignations at Twitter after Elon Musk took over the company last month. From around 7,500 employees, it is estimated that less that 2,000 Twitter employees remain at the company, especially after employees resigned from the company following Musk’s email asking employees to sign up to work “hardcore”.

Twitter has long been considered a bastion of woke activists, who tend to favour the ‘liberal’ worldview and are supportive of identity politics that resonate with the Democratic Party. Twitter’s prejudice has not been limited to the US alone. Across the world, it was accused of meddling in local politics by amplifying leftwing propaganda and suppressing dissenting views by the non-left. In India, Twitter was accused of arbitrarily dishing out suspensions and shadow bans of accounts that challenged the Left’s hegemony over online discourse and indulged in arbitrarily handing out labels aimed at shoring up leftwing political parties.

Before completing his acquisition of Twitter, Musk had ridiculed the social media behemoth for being partisan in enforcing its rules and regulations that were coloured by the political prejudices of its employees. He had then promised to rid the company of biases and transform it into a free-speech digital town square.

Yunus Pasha blackmails and rapes a minor Hindu girl, forces her to convert to Islam, arrested under anti-conversion law and POCSO

In Mandya’s Nagamangala town in Karnataka, a married Muslim man has been arrested under Karnataka’s anti-conversion act and POCSO for raping a minor Hindu girl and forcing her to convert to Islam. The 25-year-old accused has been identified as Yunus Pasha, who is a married man. He was arrested after the girl’s father lodged a complaint with the police. Yunus is accused of sexually assaulting the girl, taking her nude photos and using them to blackmail her. He had also said that he will marry her if she converts to Islam.

Accused Yunus Pasha reportedly befriended the 13-year-old Hindu girl in Nagamangala town in Mandya district, and gave her a mobile phone through a boy in her class in the school to keep in touch with her. They started to talk on the phone regularly, and Yunus gradually gained the trust of the victim and convinced her to talk to him over WhatsApp video calls.

As per the victim’s police complaint, the accused gave her an Oppo smartphone and a SIM card and then forced her to connect over video calls. He then started coercing her to show her private parts on the video calls and recorded those videos.

The victim in her complaint alleges that the accused used her nude videos and pictures to blackmail her into having sex with him. Yunus Pasha threatened to spread private videos of the victim on social media if she does not agree to have physical relationship with him.

Recently the girl’s parents had gone out of town and she was living at her grandmother’s place. Taking advantage of this situation, Pasha went to the girl’s grandmother’s house on November 10. He gave her sleeping pills, asking her to mix them with the sambhar that her grandmother would be eating. Then on November 11, Yunus Pasha went to the house and raped her. He also promised to marry the Hindu girl if she converted to Islam.

According to the complaint, the accused threatened to kill the girl and her family if she revealed the truth to anyone.

The victim’s father told the police that after they returned, his daughter looked very stressed on November 12-13. When the parents started to question her, she revealed her ordeal. Following that the parents approached the police and lodged a case.

According to the police, the accused has been arrested and charged under the Karnataka government’s new anti-conversion law and POCSO Act and further action will be taken.

‘He threatens to kill me, cut me into pieces, throw me away’: Shraddha’s police complaint against Aftab in 2020

In yet another crucial development in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, the investigating police officers have come across a complaint that Shraddha had filed against Aftab in November 2020. Shraddha in the complaint had mentioned that Aftab wanted to kill her by strangulation and cut her into pieces.

“He scares and blackmails me that he will kill me, cut me up in pieces and throw me away. His parents are aware that he beats me and that he tried to kill me. They also know about us living together and they visit us on weekends. I lived with him till date as we were supposed to get married anytime soon and had the blessings of his family,” read the complaint letter, hand-written by Walker. The victim approached Tulinj police station on November 23, 2020.

According to the reports, Shraddha also had said that Aftab had been hitting her for the past six months but she could not report the incident as the latter would threaten to kill her. The Delhi police have attained a copy of the complaint letter and are verifying it. The Delhi Police is also investigating if action was taken by the Vasai cops after Shraddha filed a complaint with them.

Complaint letter by Shraddha in November 2020

Notably, the letter written by Shraddha Walkar on November 23, 2020, narrates a similar incident that she had shared with her friends and co-worker over Whatsapp and Instagram chat around the same time. Several chats of her with her friends that took place during the period had gone viral on social media. This is the same time when she shared a picture of herself with bruised face with them.

Aftab left the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Rohini on Tuesday as the Delhi Police began court-ordered polygraph tests to advance the investigation ahead. According to Delhi Police, the polygraph test on Aftab began at the Rohini Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). “Pre-med sessions and scientific sessions for Aftab’s polygraph test leading up to the polygraph test are underway,” FSL authorities stated on Tuesday.

Shraddha Murder case

On November 14, the Delhi Police solved the six-month-old murder case of Shraddha Walkar and arrested Aftab Poonawala for murdering her, and then chopping her into 35 small pieces. Aftab executed the murder on May 18 and stored her body parts in the refrigerator. He then disposed of the body pieces in Delhi’s Mehrauli forest during the next 18 days.

The accused was arrested based on the complaint filed by Shraddha’s father on November 10. He stated in the complaint that the accused and the deceased had rented an apartment in Delhi and were staying in an unhealthy live-in relationship. He said that he had always opposed their relationship as Aftab used to physically assault Shraddha.

The girl, a resident of Palghar was adamant about continuing her relationship with accused Aftab and shifted to Delhi with him. Three days after they shifted to Delhi, they engaged in a quarrel and Aftab happened to kill Shraddha. He confessed his crime on November 14 and stated that they used to fight a lot. He said that he murdered Shraddha on May 18 as she was forcing him to get married to her. They also fought over who would manage the domestic household expenses.

The accused has been arrested and a case under IPC section 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence committed) have been registered. Further investigations into the case are underway.

China: Violent protests erupt at Foxconn’s iPhone plant over COVID regulations, employees clash with security personnel

0

Hundreds of employees at Apple’s main iPhone manufacturing factory in China battled with security personnel, as tensions escalated following nearly a month of stringent restrictions imposed to combat a COVID-19 epidemic. According to reports, employees at the Foxconn Technology Group factory flooded out of hostels in the wee hours of Wednesday, shoving and pushing past the white-clad security guards they considerably outnumbered.

Several videos of the incident are making rounds on social media in which several white-suited individuals can be seen thrashing a person laying on the ground with sticks. As hundreds of individuals pressed their way through barricades, supporters screamed “fight, fight!”. At one point, several people approached an occupied police car and started shaking it while yelling incoherently.

Reportedly, the protest began overnight over unpaid salaries and worries about the spread of infection. Several workers were hurt, and anti-riot cops were dispatched on Wednesday to restore the law and order. In one video, enraged employees surrounded a quiet, depressed supervisor in a conference room to air their frustrations and challenge their COVID-19 test results.

“I’m really scared about this place, we all could be COVID-positive now,” one of the male workers was quoted saying. “You are sending us to death,” the other one yelled. The occasional incidents of violence at the facility in Zhengzhou’s central business district show a buildup of tension since the shutdown began in October. Many of the 200,000-strong employees at “iPhone City” have been compelled to live in seclusion, surviving on meager food and scrounging for medication.

An earlier video of the premise had shown workers trying desperately to leave the facility.

Last month, many people evacuated the factory on foot. Foxconn and the local government seemed to have regained control of the situation in recent weeks by offering more compensation and better working conditions to recruit new employees. Demonstrations that happened on Wednesday morning indicate that this is no longer the case.

It shows how Xi Jinping’s zero COVID strategy, which depends on rapid lockdowns to eradicate the illness wherever it appears, is gradually weighing on the economy and causing havoc in the global supply chain. Beijing recently released fresh orders for officials to reduce disruption and apply more targeted COVID-19 regulations, but rising outbreaks in key cities have driven local authorities to revert to stricter controls.

As cases increased and a couple of deaths were reported in the country, the Chinese capital halted schools, parks, shopping centers, and museums this week and advised residents to work from home. The breakouts have alarmed investors, who had been banking on a relaxation of tight COVID regulations. Despite indications this week that China was working toward reopening after March of next year, the new rise in cases and the likelihood of further deaths would hinder those plans.

Occasional violence has occurred in response to COVID-19 regulations across China. Hundreds of workers battled with security agents at Quanta Computer’s Shanghai plant in May after being denied communication with the outside world for months, while demonstrations also erupted in Guangdong, the southern industrial powerhouse. The Foxconn crisis highlights the risks for Apple of depending on a massive manufacturing machine centred in China during a period of unpredictable policies and uncertain trade ties.

Zhengzhou is Apple’s most crucial manufacturing location, producing an estimated four out of every five of its latest gadgets, as well as the vast bulk of the highest-end iPhone 14 Pro units. Apple cautioned this month that shipments of its newest premium iPhones will be fewer than projected, just in anticipation of holiday shopping.

Furious over not waiting for him at school inauguration, TRS MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy assaults govt official

A video of Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy assaulting a government officer has emerged on social media and it has sparked outrage. In the viral video, the TRS MLA from Gadwal is seen grabbing the collar of a regional co-ordinator for government Gurukul schools in Telangana.

The TRS MLA was reportedly disgruntled over being invited late to the school’s inauguration, which was then inaugurated by the chairman of the Zilla Parishad. TRS MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy is seen in the video reportedly expressing his frustration with Zilla Parishad chairperson Sarita for holding the school’s inauguration ceremony in his absence. In the video, the TRS leader abruptly turns around and grabs the collar of the regional co-ordinator for government Gurukul schools.

Notably, the school was supposed to be inaugurated by the TRS MLA, however, it was reportedly inaugurated by the Zila Parishad chairman prior to the MLA’s arrival. This enraged the MLA who then grabbed the chairman by his collar.

Speaking on the incident, Jogulamba Gadwal Superintendent of Police, Ranjan Rathan Kumar, said, “We have not received a complaint yet. We have seen the viral video. If anybody files a complaint, we will initiate necessary action.”

BJP national vice-president DK Aruna demanded a public apology from the TRS MLA for his behaviour and urged the police to register a criminal case against him for publicly attacking a government official.

In a tweet written in Telugu, the BJP leader wrote, “The police should immediately register a criminal case against Gadwala MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy who publicly attacked the principal of a government Gurukul school. The attack on a government official is painful because of internal differences among TRS leaders.”

Recently, On November 18, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) alias Bharat Rashtra Samiti workers protested outside and vandalised the home of BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri, in Hyderabad. The attack occurred following Dharmapuri’s alleged remarks that the TRS MP and the daughter of TRS leader KCR Kalvakuntla Kavitha were unhappy with his father and wanted to join the Congress Party. He further alleged Kavitha had called Congress Party president Malikarjun Kharge for the same.

Reacting to his remarks, Kavitha issued a statement and clarified that she was not interested in joining another party. She urged everyone to check with Kharge if she had talked to him recently. She also came down heavily on Arvind, suggesting BJP was doing politics of “low standards”. She threatened Arvind to stop speaking about her and her family; otherwise, he would get beaten up with chappals (slippers) at Nizamabad’s crossroad.

Savarkar was a fierce patriot, a freedom fighter and a major social reformer: Home Minister Amit Shah

Union Minister Amit Shah remarked in an exclusive interview with Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami that Veer Savarkar was a freedom fighter and a major social reformer. Amit Shah stated that Savarkar spent his entire life fighting for his motherland, religion, and language and that anyone making a comment like Rahul Gandhi made is unfortunate and unacceptable.

Amit Shah also expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would prevail in the next elections in Gujarat. He predicted that the BJP will win more seats than its record-breaking 127 in the 2002 Assembly election and dismissed the possibilities of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by pinpointing Congress as its main opponent. The former head of the BJP also predicted that Gujaratis would not accept the freebies that Arvind Kejriwal’s party was offering. Here are a few excerpts from the interview.

About the Aam Aadmi Party factor

It is definitely a factor in the media. After the formation of Gujarat state, three big parties tried to create a triangle. To begin with, Chimanlal Patel formed his party Kisan Mazdoor Lok Paksha and tried to create a triangle. He failed and had to wind up the party. After that, Shankarsinh Vaghela who became the Gujarat CM with Congress support attempted this once. He failed and had to wind up the party. After that, Keshubhai Patel also made an attempt and he had to wind up the party. Not even one of them could cross 5 (seats). It is not the habit of Gujarat (to have a three-way contest).

When I am getting more than 50% votes, it does not matter how the votes are split. BJP is going to get more than 50% vote share this time.

On Hindu card by Aam Aadmi Party

Anyone can play any card. The people of the country and Gujarat is not so naive that they will sway towards any side by one or two statements. In politics, everyone has a history. The credibility develops on that basis. What kind of things do you say, what is your ideology, what are your ideological goals and what have you done to achieve them? For instance, BJP was created out of Bharatiya Jan Sangh. From Bharatiya Jan Sangh to BJP, we said that we will remove Article 370 whenever we will get the chance.

When we got the full majority, Article 370 was abrogated under the leadership of PM Modi. Kashmir will be associated with India forever. This is how credentials are created. We had passed a resolution at our national executive in Palampur that Ram Mandir should be constructed on the same spot. When the people of the country see PM Modi lay the foundation stone, trust increases. We promised that we will bring the Uniform Civil Code if we come to power in 1950. In three states, BJP governments have taken the initiative for the UCC. A discussion and debate have commenced. You will see the UCC in these states in the near future.

Remarks by Rahul Gandhi on Savarkar

I feel very sad. It does not befit anyone to make such kind of statements for Veer Savarkar. Keeping aside our ideology and the country’s history, he would have understood if he would have read his grandmother’s statement. The person didn’t think of anything else apart from India’s Independence throughout his life and faced so much torture throughout his life. If the British banned a book for the first time, it was Savarkar’s ‘The Indian War of Independence 1857’.”

If you look at his life, his strong pitch for Hindu and Indian culture is one dimension. He was a fierce patriot, a freedom fighter and a major social reformer. He was a person who struggled his entire life for his own country, religion and language. At the time of his death, when his body became very weak, the doctor said that treatment can be done, he said how can I serve the country with such a weak body? He said I am a Hindu, believe in reincarnation, will be reborn with a new body and again serve the country.

On Uniform Civil Code

This is an issue on which there should be a public debate. When the states will implement it, this discussion will start on its own. Instead of taking such a big decision only on the basis of BJP’s ideology, it is better that a public debate takes place. Our stance is clear that there should be a Uniform Civil Code in the country and no law should be enacted on the basis of religion. But other people’s stance is important.

Hindutva and its connection with everything

Article 370 is a matter of the country’s unity, sovereignty and integrity. But unfortunately, there was an attempt to give it a different colour. Similarly, Uniform Civil Code is a matter of matching the spirit of the Constitution. Via Article 44, the Constitution makers have given this advice to the country’s Parliament and Legislative Assemblies. Likewise, Triple Talaq doesn’t exist in many Muslim countries. All these are issues of a progressive state and the country’s future.

On Security issue

Our policy of zero tolerance towards internal and border threats will continue. No one should have any doubt about this. We made the UAPA law more stringent. We enacted amendments in the NIA Act to extend the scope of the investigation overseas. The NIA has been given the right to declare a person a terrorist besides an organization.

On illegal encroachments and actions taken by the government

If there is illegal encroachment in any coastal region of the country, it is a danger to national security. If illegal encroachment happens on a religious basis, it is an even bigger issue. I want to congratulate the Gujarat CM and Home Minister.

Internal security is an issue irrespective of whether it is an Assembly election or the national election. It is a very big issue for a coastal state like Gujarat. In 1984, Porbandar Jail had to be closed as the situation could not be controlled. I have seen that the entire coast had become a den of smugglers. After 2001 when the Narendra Modi-led government was formed, our borders have been safe. No intruder can enter. The smuggling activity is over. You can’t find any gangs anymore.

Before the Gujarat elections, Shah addressed a wide range of issues. Taking a shot at Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, he stated that a person can only have an effect after making consistent efforts. Shah stated that, regardless of the narrative, the Modi government will move forward with whatever if it is in the best interests of the country. He stated that legislation can be made based on the interests of the country rather than on the complaints presented.

Bigg Boss 16: Families of Shalin and Tine react to derogatory remarks by Sumbul’s father, call it cheap and unacceptable

0

Bigg Boss’s season 16 is in its eighth week, and the drama is consistently increasing every day. In the 52nd episode of the high-voltage reality show, something unprecedented happened that forced the parents of housemates Shalin and Tina to react.

Sumbul Touqeer, one of the housemates at Bigg Boss house, was called to the confession room as the makers of Bigg Boss were informed about her father’s illness. As a courtesy, the makers allowed conversation between Sumbul and her father, but it turned out it was a setup, and the conversation between them was not about her father’s health but the recent events on the show.

During the conversation, her father categorically asked her to stay away from Shalin and Tina and instructed her to “show them their worth”. The comments, as well as the way it was set up, irked the Bigg Boss fans and received a lot of backlash on social media platforms. Many fans called it unfair to other contestants as Sumbul was allowed to speak with her father. Furthermore, the parents of Shalin and Tina also reacted to what happened in the episode.

Shalin Bhanot’s father was not pleased with how Sumbul’s father portrayed his son. He did not like the way Sumbul’s father addressed Shalin. He said, “Is this the way people speak on national television? Making unjustified offensive comments on national television against other participants is very, very cheap! And it’s more shocking that these comments and abuses were not edited out and rather shown. Sumbul is an adult, either you shouldn’t have sent her on the show, and if you have, then no outside guidance should be allowed as per the format. This is unacceptable!”

Tina’s mother also released a video message published on Tina’s social media account. She broke down during the message as her daughter was humiliated and abused on national television. In her message, she asked the viewers of the reality show if they felt it was appropriate for someone to insult and use derogatory remarks against her daughter on a public platform.

In her message, she said, “I am here to talk to you as I did not get a chance that others got on the show. My daughter was humiliated on national television. Her father told Sumbul to kick her face. What kind of message is this? Who gave him permission to humiliate and abuse my daughter on national television? Who are you to abuse my daughter? If your daughter is not playing the game right, does that mean you will abuse my daughter? Is this the duty of the parents? I want you all to think how a mother must be feeling whose daughter was abused and humiliated?”

Salman Khan criticised Sumbul for her ‘obsession’ with Shalin

The conversation between Sumbul and her father resulted from the recent ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode, where Salman Khan criticised Sumbul Touqeer Khan for her ‘obsession’ with Shalin Bhanot inside the Big Boss House. For those who are not aware, in the 48th episode of the show, housemates MC Stan and Shalin got into a verbal fight after Tina got a sprain on her ankle. While both were concerned about her wellbeing, Stan used abusive words for Shalin when he denied leaving her injured foot. Shalin got irked by Stan’s action, and both exchanged abusive language consistently for minutes.

At one point, Stan got so angry at Shalin that he charged and almost hit him. Sumbul, lurking around as the fight between the two was going on, jumped into the fight and grabbed Shalin. All the housemates were trying to take Shalin and Stan away from each other, including her. However, things turned weird when Sumbul categorically denied leaving Shalin’s side when Tina asked her to leave the room as she wanted to calm Shalin down. Notably, Shalin and Tina have a good bond on the show. Though both are often seen getting angry at each other, they are often seen comforting each other.

On the other hand, Sumbul, seen not only by the fans but also by the makers as obsessed with Shalin, often tries to stay around him. Those following the show must remember how Sumbul’s father came to the show in the first week and talked ill about Tina and Shalin. Despite his instructions not to be friends with the duo, Sumbul continued to stay friends with Shalin, and her alleged obsession led to differences between Shalin and Tina. On several occasions, Salman Khan, Bigg Boss and Shekhar Suman, who interact with the housemates every Sunday, pointed out and hinted to Sumbul that she needed to maintain distance from Shalin, but it did not happen.

The unexpected setup by Sumbul’s family

Though the issue should have been resolved after the ‘Weekend Ka Vaar‘ episode (50th episode), the show’s makers were yet to get another shock from Sumbul’s side. As it has been portrayed, the makers of the show got a call from Sumbul’s family that her father was not well and he was hoping to talk to his daughter.

Bigg Boss called Sumbul into the confession room and told her about the situation. He told her that going out of the house to meet her father would mean leaving the show, so before she took any decision, they wanted her to talk to her father once. The conversation between Sumbul and her father immediately shifted to what happened during the ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode.

He asked Sumbul to stay away from Tina and Shalin. He said, “You kick Tina’s face and tell her ‘aren’t you ashamed of yourself? I trusted you as a friend, and you are speaking ill about me?” He further added, “Friends should be like Fahmaan. Shalin and Tina are using you. They say one thing in front of you and another in the back. It is giving a wrong message to the public that an 18-year-old girl is obsessed with a 40-year-old man.” Fahmaan is Sumbul’s co-star in the show Imlie. There have been rumours that Sumbul and Fahmaan were dating. However, it was said that the two broke up right before Sumbul entered the Bigg Boss house.

He further said, “These rascals can do character assassination of anyone to win the trophy. They will kill you [he meant they would kill her chance to win the show].” He added, “You are a tigress. You cannot lose. Shalin and Tina are your enemies. These are the biggest enemies in the world. You get nominated every week. We will save you every week. This is a guarantee of your father. Show Shalin and Tina their worth on national television. Show them what you can do.”

Bigg Boss expressed displeasure

Following the conversation, Bigg Boss told Sumbul that whatever happened was unacceptable. He said, “This call was made under unusual circumstances. However, the conversation that happened was inappropriate. If something like this happens again, we will have to take strict actions.”

Rajasthan: Moinuddin became Mohin Sisodia using a fake death certificate, gets recruited in the Indian Army by forging documents

0

In Rajasthan’s Ajmer district, a case of fraud to get a job in the Indian Army has been reported. A person named Moinuddin obtained a death certificate declaring himself dead in order to join the army. Not only that, but he had joined the army by changing the name on his Aadhaar card to Mohin Sisodia.

According to the media reports, Moinuddin’s younger brother Asif, a resident of Kakaniyawas village in Ajmer’s Bandarsindri police station area, joined the army in 2018. Moinuddin wanted to join the Indian Army as well. But he was past the maximum age to be recruited into the army. As a result, his father, Mohammad Noor, conspired with the sarpanch to obtain his death certificate. According to his death certificate, accused Moinuddin died on August 18, 2019.

Following this, Moinuddin enrolled in the 9th class as Mohin Sisodia at the Bal Krishna Bharti School in his neighbouring village of Nulu. He was admitted as Mohin Sisodia, with a birth date of November 6, 2001. Following that, he passed 10th from the same school in 2019 and a 12th in 2021.

Moinuddin’s name was changed to Mohin Sisodia on the Aadhaar card based on the class 10th mark sheet. Following that, the name was changed in other documents on the basis of the details mentioned in the Aadhaar card. Although Moinuddin changed his name and date of birth on his Aadhaar card, the Aadhaar number remained unchanged because Moinuddin could not fake his biometrics data that was already recorded in the Aadhar database.

The role of Moinuddin’s younger brother is also questionable in this case. An army recruitment rally was held in Ajmer from July 11 to August 2, 2022. Applications were accepted from May 24 to June 27, 2022. Moinuddin applied for army recruitment using forged documents. Since 2018, his younger brother Asif has been serving in the Rajputana Rifles’ Battalion No. 24 in Jaipur. Moinuddin’s younger brother, Asif, recommended Moinuddin as his younger brother in the Army’s relationship quota. On the basis of Asif’s recommendation, Moinuddin joined the Indian Army and was undergoing training. Moinuddin’s fraud, however, was revealed prior to his joining.

As per current recruitment rules, a serving army personnel can recommend a blood brother. The other preference categories under Unit Headquarters Quota (UHQ) recruitment include Sons of Widow (SOW), Sons of Serving Soldiers (SOS), and Sons of Ex-Servicemen (SOEX).

How the fraud was exposed

While Moinuddin was under training, Gafoor Khan, a resident of Saali village informed the army about Moinuddin’s fraud through a letter. Upon investigation based on Gafoor Khan’s information, it was found that Moinuddin had forged documents to join the Indian Army. Consequently, Moinuddin has been sacked and an FIR has been registered against him on the basis of the letter by an Indian Army officer to the Ajmer Police.

New CCTV footage from Tihar shows Satyendar Jain having lavish meal, fresh-cut salad, fruits; jail authorities say he has gained 8 kgs weight

On Wednesday, a new video from Tihar jail appeared on social media in which Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain could be seen having proper food while lodged inside the jail in a money laundering case. The jail authorities have also revealed that Jain has gained 8 kgs of weight since he has been arrested on May 30 this year.

This is a day after the Minister submitted before the trial court saying that he was not being given any preferential treatment inside the jail and that he has not been getting privileges like proper food and medical check-up. His lawyer also claimed that he had lost 28 kgs of weight in the custody. In the CCTV footage, Jain could be seen having full meal lunch while sitting on a comfortable chair. He could also be seen having access to fresh-cut salad and fruits and bottled drinking water.

According to the reports, Jain’s counsel Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra cornered the ED on Tuesday and said that the central agency was deliberately leaking sensitive information to the media without permission. Meanwhile, Jain said that he was not even being given proper food in jail.

“What privilege are they talking about? I have lost 28 kg in jail. Is this what a privileged person in jail gets? I’m not even getting proper food. What privilege are they talking about? No prison rules are violated if an under-trial is pressing his hand or feet,” Jain said. However, the ED denied the allegations put forth by Jain’s counsel and there was no leak of information and there would never be one.

Further seeking a free and fair trial, Jain’s counsel said that even Ajmal Kasab had gotten a free and fair trial. “I am surely not worse than that. All I seek is a fair and free trial. Please look at the kind of media reports running against him and that is in their interest,” he said.

Earlier, it was reported that AAP leader Satyendar Jain, who has been arrested in a money laundering case, was being given preferential treatment in the Tihar jail. He was ‘enjoying’ his stay in jail. This is after a CCTV footage from inside Jain’s cell surfaced on the internet on November 19 showing Jain being treated specially while lodged inside the jail.

According to the video, Jain was being given foot massages and head massages in the jail while he was seen lying down on the bed and reading some documents. He could clearly be seen provided with comfortable facilities to make his stay easier at Tihar jail. Later it was revealed that the man massaging Jain face has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The AAP Minister is also provided with mineral water bottles and is not required to drink water provided to other prisoners. On November 15, it was reported that Delhi Chief Secretary had suspended Tihar jail superintendent Ajit Kumar over allegations that he was giving preferential treatment to Jain. Also around 52 jail officials including Sandeep Goel, the Director General of Prisons were transferred from the Tihar Jail on the allegations of giving special treatment last week.

On November 1, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) informed the Delhi Court that AAP Minister Satyendar Jain, who has been charged in a money laundering case, was being treated specially in the Tihar jail. The ED submitted the CCTV footage of the Tihar jail which allegedly showed Jain getting preferential treatment inside Tihar Jail.

The ED had said that Jain was being given foot massage and body massage while in the cell and that he was being served fresh-cut fruits and green salad directly in his cell by an unidentified individual. The ED further contended that Jain’s cell is being cleaned, mopped, and broomed by an unidentified person under the supervision of co-accused Ankush Jain.

The ED also said that Jain was continuously and easily able to meet co-accused Ankush Jain, Vaibhav Jain, and also his wife, Poonam Jain who visits him often in the cell. The ED alleged that the accused was violating all the norms of the jail and was meeting the jail superintendent every day, which is against the rules.

The ED attached assets worth Rs 4.81 crores linked to Jain and his family in April. The ED launched an investigation in the case based on an FIR which was registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Jain and others under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

A controversial crowdfunding platform used by Modi haters is online again, and Congress leader Jignesh Mevani is using it to raise election funds

The controversial crowdfunding platform ‘Our Democracy’ that was used by some Modi haters is online again. This time, Congress leader Jignesh Mevani has been seen using it extensively to raise funds for his election campaign. Mevani’s campaign was launched on the website on November 16.

On the launch of the campaign, Mevani released a video and claimed that being a “non-corrupt” MLA is not easy in the time of the “sale and purchase” of MLAs. He further added that he was fighting with the “BJP Forces”.

Interestingly, Jignesh urged people to spread the link on WhatsApp, the platform he has been ridiculing for a long time. He has been seen mocking BJP supporters by hinting they get their data from “WhatApp University”, a slang used for fake news spread on the messaging platform.

Another interesting aspect of Jignesh’s campaign on Our Democracy is that it does not mention his political affiliation. Though Jignesh is contesting Congress’s ticket from the Vadgam seat, there is no mention of the Congress party on the campaign page. Last time, Mevani won the election as an independent candidate with Congress’s support. Notably, former Congress leader Manilal Vaghela who had won the 2012 election from Vadgam, is contesting the election against Mevani on BJP’s ticket.

Mevani has been asking for Rs 40 lakh to contest the elections. So far, he has raised over Rs 6.9 lakh. Started by one Divya Gaur, there were over 650 supporters of the campaign by the time this report was published. Top donors included a donor named Teesta Setalvad, who donated Rs 30,000. It is unclear if this was the same Setalvad who was recently arrested by the Gujarat police for allegedly conspiring against then-Chief Minister Narendra Modi and attempting to get capital punishment for him in the Gujarat Riots 2002 case. It is not possible to identify the real identity of the donor. Notably, the website required PAN card details for donations above Rs 2,000.

The controversial history of ‘Our Democracy’

In January 2022, OpIndia reported that the website Our Democracy had gone offline mysteriously. The platform had given space to the likes of then-Congress supporter (now TMC leader) Saket Gokhale, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar, AAP leader Aatishi Marlena and many others. Mevani had also used the platform previously.

Notably, in November 2019, Gokhale tweeted a link to his crowdfunding platform asking people to cough up money because he chose to give up his ‘cushy job’ to ‘fight the BJP/RSS’, which he usually did with filing frivolous RTIs which cost just Rs 10. He urged other Modi haters to assemble and pay him so he could pay his bills and not have to take up a regular job. Later, several donors raised questions over how Gokhale used the funds collected.

At that time, OpIndia dug a little deeper into the crowdfunding platform and found some curious connections. Former NDTV journalist Bilal Zaidi, who had also worked with channels such as Times Now and WION, started the platform ‘Crowdnewsing’ with one Anand Mangnale, an online crowdfunding platform for independent journalists. This was back in 2017.

However, just before the 2019 general elections, they decided to expand the platform and changed it to ‘OurDemocracy’ and provided the platform even to politicians like Kanhaiya Kumar and Atishi Marlena and unemployed individuals like Saket Gokhale who had quit their jobs to file RTIs full time.

We also found that Anand Mangnale, the cofounder of Crowdnewsing as well as ‘OurDemocracy’, had planted himself in WhatsApp groups in January 2020 during the violence that took place in JNU, where he appeared to be coordinating the violence that was taking place on the campus.

His number appeared in a SS shared by Barkha Dutt. A Google search of the number which Dutt inadvertently shared on Twitter revealed it was the same number Congress had used for a crowdfunding campaign. That page has now been taken off. Anand Mangnale has previously worked with TMC’s poll strategist Prashant Kishore, who had earlier worked as a strategist for ex-Congress President Rahul Gandhi in 2016 ahead of the Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections. OpIndia could not independently verify whether Mangnale was part of the team for Rahul Gandhi’s alleged “image makeover”.

Our Democracy made a comeback in July this year. On July 4, they announced on Twitter that they had got a new CEO, Umar Siddiqui.

On July 8, they announced that the website was live again. Though the activity since then was minimal, it started pushing videos and campaign links for Jignesh on November 17.

Notably, there are six other campaigns with very little activity. One of them is an old campaign that was started for AAP candidate Cynthia Stephen for the BBMP elections in September of this year. The BBMP elections are scheduled for December. Notably, Cynthia Stephen herself has not shared the link to the campaign on her official Twitter handle. However, she shared it once on her Facebook account. The campaign has raised over Rs 64,000.

Other campaigners using the platform are AAP leader Hargovan Debhi (collected over Rs 25,000), AAP leader Vipul Parmar (collected over Rs 1,000), AAP leader Ashu Thakur (collected over Rs 49,000), AAP leader Kailashdan Gadhvi (collected nothing), and AAP leader Beena Balguher (collected over Rs 5,000). Mevani’s campaign has been the most successful so far. The record of old campaigns has been wiped out from the website.
